Beware the Monday "Buffet"! Apparently the buffet only includes the bad salad and few sides. You have to order your entree at the cooks grill. Absolutely the worst catfish we have ever had. No flavor, and a weird consistency. It had been a little over 4 years since we had been there, and the food has gone downhill. This will be our last visit. The only entertainment was that 2 of waitstaff seemed to be feuding with each other. 01/23/24 Revised after response: The waitstaff told us it was Buffett!! She asked if we had ever had the buffet before. We said no we haven't. She just said, OK, and smiled. No instructions. We didn't find out till later that you had to go up to the window and order our entree. It might have been overlooked, if the food was anywhere close to decent. And the owners glib response to his feuding waitstaff speaks volumes as to why this once halfway decent restaurant, has sunk so low. I don't like being negative particularly when it comes to food service,as waitstaff are people-LE who can have a bad day. We never know all the stuff going on in others lives so that side it is hard for me to be SUSAN. However, this place food was bad. We went as my wife really enjoys onion rings and I enjoy fried catfish. We were there at 4:00 PM, ordered the rings,ex-lawned wife wanted those right from the oil to the table, please. Order catfish with the sides and wife ordered a single hamburger patty. I am telling I did not know you could mash hamburger that flat, then fry it until it had nothing left to give. Fast food restaurants have thicker patties. The catfish was room temperature at best, and like the commercial said "where's the beef" well fried room temp breading is great if that is what you want. Ordered side salad, went to the salad bar choices for salad croutons, parmesan cheese oh and tomatoes, but you had two choices of dressing. Ranch or Caesar. Waiter was very apologetic about the food. I explained he had zero to do with what and the kitchen did its business. Left the 20% gratuity and NO I WONT BE BACK. Hate to admit that it has been a few weeks since we went to the Catfish Parlour, but after tonight's visit - I'm not sure IF we will return. Not the experience we've grown accustomed to having here (over 15 years of frequent visits). It took us almost 10 minutes to be provided our hushpuppies and drinks after sitting down. The order went in and we waited over 20 minutes to get our food. Then, it was over 10 minutes after we asked for our check before I got up and went to the register to pay WITHOUT our ticket. I could see if the place was busy, but counting our party (3 people), there was only 4 other tables occupied. This happens occasionally, and in spite of the fact that I'm not thrilled, that isn't the only reason we probably won't be back. Prices went up (that is Chris' right), the sides appeared to be "smaller" based upon the ones we got, and the SALAD BAR is no longer included in the price. Again, Chris - you can do anything you want in your business, but you just removed the ONE THING that made you different from all the other restaurants where I can buy catfish, shrimp and chicken-fried steak. Price-wise you are AT or ABOVE the others now, and I don't get a salad. A comment was made by the next table - "I don't see Chris". When your dad was running the place, he SEEMED TO BE there all the time. The last couple of years - it was unusual not to see you around. Tonight, quite honestly, it seemed that there was no "adult leadership". I wish you the best going forward. I hope that my experience is ONE OF A KIND. Recently a friend got us all takeout from here. I would say that everyone just ended up with plates of fried batter. There was very little catfish but just a lot of batter. The okra was so overcooked and tough. It was as if they reheated it over and over till they could sell it to us suckers. Just fried. To the hilt. You would open it up and the okra had disintegrated to nothing. The coleslaw, mash potatoes were ok. The beans tasted from an industrial can. Never again will I pay for over fried, dried and hard catfish and okra. read more

My date and I were very disappointed in Catfish Parlour. We ate there right after Thanksgiving. I had a catfish dinner. Had shrimp on it and they were tough. Catfish had no flavor (even for catfish). Hate to rate this, but they're unwillingness to address the issue deserves a review. Where do I start? I ordered lightly grilled salmon. Got burnt blackened salmon. Even when I showed the long-time manager she thought it was catfish burnt. It was crusted with a quarter inch of something. My wife took a bite due to thinking I was making a "big deal." She immediately spit it out. No I didn't ask them to remake it. Can't make it write the first time I definitely don't want to try it again. My daughter ordered ordered 4 grilled shrimp. Exact same problem. Problem, she's more stubborn then I. She sent it back and they sent back the same thing. She refused to eat it. Not a bite. It was my friends birthday (66). Ordered Chicken Fry, green beans, etc. There was a stick in the green beans. Yes, I mean a stick. He asked where his Texas Toast was as all the other guest were waiting on their toast also. No toast. Finally, at the end of the meal they finally received after the fact. His daughter ordered a meal with mashed potatoes and a paper wrapper or the paper from the butter was in her potatoes. The salad bar isn't a salad bar. It's a lettuce bar! Everything has upcharge? If it was a decent meal it would be worth the $20 a plate. It is not even close. It what I would expect out of a mini mart. Other customers in line were commenting on the downward spiral of the operation and it's services. Finally, when we went to pay the bill....She had no problem charging us full price for the meals! The meals that weren't eaten shouldn't of been charged. That's not a reputable business. Poor business practice. Maybe a call to the health department could help resolve and help them get back to quality the community deserves for their hardworking dollars. It's a shame. The family dines at this location in Georgetown once every year. It's one of few times we are mostly all available. Always a great time... yesterday's visit was no different... Our waitress Shawn, was so helpful as we were a party of at least 25 people. Shawn even took the time to get me a makeshift ice pouch as I was nursing an shoulder injury. She and the entire staff were all very kind, interactive, attentive and genuine going above and beyond for us. Out of Town Guests We are not from the area, but found this place after searching for dinner options. Ordered 2 lbs of spicy fish (similar to nuggets) cole slaw, fries, corn nuggets, onion rings, and hush puppies. Fish by the pound may be 18-24 pieces. Ours was less, so we ended up needing to drive back for more so we could feed everyone. There is an option to purchase fish by the number (we didn't know this until afterwards). My dining buddy was my adult daughter. I had the All American. It's supposed to be 3-4 pieces of fish, fries, 2 sides, salad bar and hushpuppies. I got the combo (fish and popcorn shrimp). I was expecting 2 pieces of fish and some popcorn shrimp. I was told 6 ounces, so I thought total. I underestimated what 6 ounces was. It was a lot of food. For the fish, you had a choice of regular or cajun. The popcorn shrimp didn't taste like it was pre-breaded frozen. It seemed like they do their own batter. Salad bar consists of romaine lettuce, tomato wedges, parmesan, croutons, and Caesar and ranch dressings. There was also a pepper grinder. For my sides, I chose green beans and cabbage. Hushpuppies were different than other places I have been to. They look like mozzarella sticks. They weren't crumbly. They were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Dipping sauces were tartar sauce and a jalapeño tartar sauce. Both were good. Daughter had the senior plate, which was 2-3 pieces of fish. She got 3. The original was a bit bland in her opinion and liked my Cajun one better. Mashed potatoes were the chosen side and she really liked it. Forgot green beans might be canned, so she didn't really like them. They didn't taste canned mushy. She passed on the salad and loved the hushpuppies. We both thought their sweet tea was really good. The service was good and the meal was reasonably priced. 12.99, 14.99, 2.29, 2.29. Total was under $40 plus tip. We try to support local businesses and we've been going here for a little over three years we went a couple of months ago and it just wasn't good the blackened catfish was so salty I couldn't eat it I paid my bill and wrote it off as a bad night fast forward to tonight we decided to give them another chance, my wife ordered the chicken fried chicken and French fries the French fries were old and hard I ordered what they call a four filet catfish dinner which consisted of four little over cooked pieces of fish that I would guess had been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long the prices have gone up twice on our last two visits with new menus tonight the self serve salad bar used to be a $.99 up charge now it's an extra 3.00 we will not be back for over priced mediocre food, PS the sad part is that the service is actually very good read more

Looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but once you step inside you see that it's going to be unique just based on the hallway. My kids loved the inside of the restaurant, plant of stuff all over the walls for them to look at, ask about, and explore (hopefully just with their eyes). Food wise, I had some fried catfish and fried shrimp (seemed to be the main item). Both were really good, though, the spicy catfish was a bit over done (regular was perfect). I caution getting bigger than the light size, it was a lot of food ... and there are two bigger sizes! The star of the meal was the side (I got mashed potatoes, slaw, and cabbage). Boy howdy, I might just get the sides next time. they also give you a small salad bar (basically lettuce, tomato, and croutons). The hushpuppy cigars are a nice starting touch. The beer selection was nice as well and even has a couple local options that we tried. Lastly, kudos on the COVID restrictions - the place had good spacing off blocked off tables, all employees had masks on, and they seemed to be keeping from congregating for the most part. read more

Went for the first time and was really surprised. I took off a start due to not being told everything, for starters you can get more sides they are all you can eat. So load up. First timers. Had lunch and were pleased all 'round. We had their cheese burger and were pleasantly taken back in time to real homemade & hand-shaped burgers. Not the 1/2 lb giant thing that's too big and not some frozen tasteless disc of meat, but like your mom or grandma made. The sides we chose were french fries, and hushpuppies (which were delish - unlike any I've had and were by far the best I've had). Staff were welcoming and helpful as soon as we walked in. Sweetie pie of a waitress named Beth too. Our experience was nothing like what some have said about unfriendly staff. Quite the opposite. The place was at least 2/3rds full. The table beside us was saying something to us about not being able to take a to-go container home. Kinda weird but when the wife started grumbling that she couldn't take food home, it didn't sound right, and we were right. We didn't yet know how it all worked there yet - meaning you order your main item and then all the sides are serve yourself. Been a regular customer since the 80's, first of the original one on 183 and now this one. I almost always get the Catfish for rather obvious reason (the restaurant name is a bit of a hint). This was seriously some of the best catfish I've ever had. I'm not the biggest fan of catfish and this was awesome. The prices are great! I got spicy catfish, popcorn shrimp, fries, hush puppies, Mac n cheese and a side salad for like $10. They have so many mix and match type options on the menu that make for your own customized catfish platter. The customer service wasn't the best but I think the server was just a little off that day. We've pretty much been regulars here for years, and have found the food and service to be consistently very good. My husband and I ate here this past Saturday, and it turned out to be a really special meal. Every single item was perfect. We started with the salad bar. Catfish Parlour always has the prettiest and freshest lettuce. I had the fried jumbo shrimp, with fried okra, and rice. Hubby had fried oysters, with fried okra. Both came with french fries, of course. Every single item and bite was delivered to our table hot and cooked perfectly. The shrimp were large, crispy and tasty, as was the okra and the rice. My husband said his oysters were perfect, and cooked exactly like he would have fried them at home - hot and crispy. The french fries were crispy and tasty. Even the iced tea was terrific! Zak was our server and he did a great job of taking care of us. As I said above, this place has always been good, but it's really difficult to get everything just right - from main course to the sides to the drinks to the service.
