Absolutely fantastic. An oasis of old Colorado in the middle of downtown. You know when you walk through the door that you're in for something special. Fantastic service, delicious country-style food, and charm. For the win: Start with queso dip, then the pan-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Nona's Cole Slaw, and finish it off with apple pie a la mode. Don't forget a local craft or a Colorado Bulldog.

Apple pie

Been hearing about the fried chicken at this place and decided to try for lunch. Unfortunately at lunch they not have the pan fried chicken. But they had a chicken fried chicken breast and roast turkey. We got both and wow they weee great! The chicken fried chicken was juicy served with mashed potatoes and Vegis. The Vegis are a bit bland but are fresh not canned. The gravy is a nice cream gravy. The turkey was even more wow! So juicy - while I didn't love the turkey gravy was a bit too thin. I loved the turkey with cranberry sauce and the cream gravy with mashed potatoes. I wish they had the rolls at lunch but they didn't. We ended the meal With apple pie which was fantastic. Will definitely be back after 4:30p for fried chicken.

Fresh baked bread, and some of the best Spinach Artichoke dip I have had in Colorado. The service was average, and the prices were fair. We sat outside on a lovely fall day and the area is beautiful in Castle Rock's downtown area. I am excited to go back and try their chicken (which is what they are known for)

Brisket Sandwich and Onion Rings

This was my first visit to Castle Café in downtown Castle Rock, which was a spur of the moment, since the original planned restaurant had a considerable wait list for a Saturday lunch. We walked right in at 11 am to a greeter and were sat immediately. The café is a Bar/Pub style with a limited lunch menu, but service was friendly and efficient. After a review of the menu, and some advice from the server, we both decided on the Brisket Sandwich, which was a great choice with a nice pile of tender roast beef on a toast bun, and mine with a side of crispy onion rings. The whole platter was excellent for lunch. A nice bonus was the warm complimentary bread served while we were waiting for lunch plates, delicious! Overall, I would return for another lunch, as the café was a great place to catch up with a friend and we never felt the rush to eat and leave. Tips for your visit: Downtown Castle Rock can be very busy during the weekends, so plan on extra time for parking, or seek out the public parking structure near the Douglas County Motor Vehicle building.

Our second time to this local hot spot and thankfully there was no wait to be seated. We were surprised to find out that they don't have their famous fried chicken on their lunch menu, but you can order it anyway, which was a relief. Unfortunately, they don't start making their 'dangerous' bread rolls until 4pm, so we'll go a bit later next time. Anyway, get the chicken! It's worth it and comes with unlimited mash potatoes, fresh veggies and a gravy that will make you want to drink it out of the boat!! It's a little pricey and takes about 20 min to cook to order, but worth every finger lickin moment!

MUST HAVE IN CASTLE ROCK! The pan fried chicken is AMAZING! I was so excited to hear that the chicken is cooked in different oil than the fish! For someone that is allergic to fish, I don't get to enjoy fried chicken as much as others! The mash potatoes and veggies were a great combo! The bread, butter and honey is a great start! Our waitress was awesome and never had our drinks low! Can't wait to come back and try the bread pudding.

Have they made any improvements on the gravy? It's been 2 years since I tried it. Thx!

I would say yes there has been an improvement. I would add that it's not just the gravy. They use to serve what looked like the contents of a can of Veg-all with their chicken dinner but now they serve a much better vegetable side.

It's been our casual and fun go-to spot for a great brunch, lunch, or dinner to enjoy time together or watch a game! We know and enjoy good food and hope it will always be around! The owners are wonderful, and the staff they hire reflect that. Beyond that, what really matters to us, at least, is great food--and Hideaway delivers every time. With the ever-growing Castle Rock food scene, we admit we've strayed from time to time depending on what we're looking for (fine dining, etc.), but we always come back to Hideaway when we want consistently good food, friendly staff, and welcoming owners. We've never had a bad meal. Unfortunately, that's hard to say about other comparable places in the area we have tried (but to each their own). Best onion rings we've tried anywhere (chicken tenders, fish tacos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, the Hideaway Signature Pasta--the list goes on), but honestly, everything on the menu we've ordered has been delicious, and every time we go, it takes us a while to decide since everything is so good! Hideaway has become something of a standard we compare to other similar establishments, and we look forward to dining here in the years to come!

Quaint, cute, decent selection, good children's section and they feature local authors. Support your local bookstores!!! They are wonderful. If you didn't know, this is a mini-food hall of sorts. There are several food vendors: a Bar at the top, a restaurant I've yet to visit alongside it, as well as several spots to eat downstairs. Downstairs they have : - A bagel spot (get there early for the best selection and don't be disappointed if they run out- that's what it means to have fresh baked daily!) - A great BBQ spot (this is coming from a KC native and BBQ critic!) - Apres coffee - a cute coffee shop with alternative milks and Italian sodas options. - A stuffed pita restaurant (I'm sorry I don't know the name!) - Gluttony and Graze, for salads and gourmet hot dogs and burgers - And don't sleep on the cute little kiosk to order Mexican food! I didn't get a chance to check it out, but it's next on my list to try! Though, please note all of these places have different operating hours - though you're mostly safe Wed-Sun. Either call ahead or be open minded when you come in, just in case! Overall, highly recommended. People sleep on it because the outside is unassuming, but you have to try it at least once!
