They are closing establishments left and right. There are no Black Eyed Peas in the Denver metro area so we came to Castle Rock. Fantastic service

Chicken Fried Steak with brown gravy, Sweet Potato & Peas
Lee W.

This location is great for travelers up and down I 25! Easy on & off access, with plenty of parking. If you're looking to do some shopping, the Outlets at Castle Rock are right there too. Black-eyed Pea is known for its home style cooking & I've eaten here many times before. This location is now open for breakfast on Saturdays & Sundays. We arrived around noon for lunch & we're seated immediately. Unfortunately there was almost no AC when we were there & it was very warm. Our server was friendly & attentive, checking on us often. We ordered one of the Home Style Favorites, Chicken Fried Steak & the Rocky Mountain (marinated) Steak Salad. The Chicken Fried Steak was quite tasty & the gravy was great too! I wished the sweet potato was prepared a little more, such as opening it & adding butter on top, maybe even marshmallows. In spite of the Steak Salad being big, I thought it was a little pricey. The greens were fresh, nevertheless it was pretty plain, it only came with tomatoes & blue cheese crumbles, which I omitted. It was topped with fried mushrooms that seemed out of place, however they were crispy & flavorful. The steak was cooked perfectly & there was a lot of it thru out the dish. I couldn't taste the marinade flavor tho. Next time I'll try their Summer BBQ Menu, but you can't go wrong with sticking with the Home Style Favorites!

Grilled Chicken Breasts with corn and broccoli

First time to a Black Eyed Pea in more than 25 years. Service wasn't great throughout. Our drinks sat empty for a long time, and our waitress, who was helpful when we could find her, disappeared for long stretches. My wife and I both had the grilled chicken, which she had raved about from a previous visit. A lot of food, the first piece was tough and dry, but my second piece was good. Completely different consistency and taste for that water. Corn was delicious, but steamed broccoli was about what you'd expect. I'll try a different side next time and maybe also the cajun spiced chicken or something else. One daughter loved the chicken fried steak on the first visit, and liked this one too, although she said it was a bit chewy. She did say the Caesar salad was pretty good. Mashed potatoes were salty. The other daughter really enjoyed her turkey dinner. She thought the stuffing was a bit gooey, but she likes it that way, so I guess that's a good thing. Mac and cheese was fair, but she thought the cinnamon apples were delicious. I'll give the food a four, and service gets a two, just because it was nonexistent when we needed it. Not the cheapest dinner out there, coming in at more than $25/person with drinks, tax, and tip, at least it's a huge menu, so you've got plenty of options. We don't frequent a lot of the area chains, but I'm guessing we'll be back at some point when we're in the mood.

Service was great, food was incredible!!! I'm from the South & this was definitely done right. They have a great menu selection, huge portions, fair pricing & did I mention how GOOD the food was! The restaurant was pretty full but not too packed. Very thankful they were able to accommodate 6 adults & 2 kids. We all had a great experience.

A Black- eyed Pea! I am excited to have dinner here.

I was beyond excited when I was told there was a black-eyed pea in castle rock. The food served was always comfort food , downright wholesome. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the food and the service. It was cold ,lacked any flavor, it was missing appeal.

It's been a while since I last visited a Black-eyed Pea. I visited the Black-eyed Pea in Lakewood on various occasions in the past. It's taken me a while to visit this BEP location. Wish I didn't wait so long. A favorite menu item of mine is their Liver & Onions. I love how they serve it with a homemade gravy. My only feedback is that they could've offered a bit more steamed broccoli and more onions. I asked for extra onions when ordering and the amount of onions appeared to be regular portion size. Other than that, the food was good and consistent. I dined here on a Tuesday evening at about 5:30 PM and it wasn't that crowded. When I finished my meal, patrons started to flow in. I love how it wasn't that crowded when I dined here. I will probably return again at the same time. Watch those dinner rolls! They go down easy! They serve them before your main entree arrives. Betcha can't eat just one! Liver & Onions was good. Loved dipping the liver in that delicious gravy. I'm looking forward to my next visit here. They also offer a daily special. On Tuesdays they offer Beef Stroganoff. I will definitely return on a Tuesday. If you haven't been to BEP and enjoy home cooking in a nice old school atmosphere, I recommend checking them out. Also, staff is very friendly. The young man who waited on me was friendly and personable. Hope you have a pleasant experience!

Classic Cobb Salad

I have seen this place for years, but never gave it a thought, until tonight. That was my mistake. This place a great, old school, down home place. As an appetizer the fried green beans are excellent. Great flavor to the breading and the beans stay nice and crisp. Thanks To our waiter for suggesting them. The wait staff was all very friendly and helpful. The portions are large (although I hear that they used to be even bigger), I was able too eat too much. The chicken fried steak was everything that you'd want in a chicken fried steak...and the gravy put it over the top. Meals come with 2 sides, I went for the tater tots...which were fine, but the same fried tots you'd get anywhere...the broccoli and rice casserole was the one big let down of the meal. The must have 20 options for a side, so skipping this one is easy enough. The Cobb salad is a very generous portion (although it did still come with blue cheese, when it had been ordered without that). The third person in our group had the pot roast and meatloaf dinner. She loved both the pot roast and the meatloaf. Their desserts look amazing, but after the huge, heavy meals they serve, I don't know if I could eat all that in one sitting.

I ordered Colorado blt with onion rings

We were greeted almost immediately after sitting down. The food was good. The atmosphere is a laid back vibe ordered a strawberry margarita on a rocks it was yummy . Overall a great place to eat .

The food and the service is wonderful. This is my go to place on the weekends because it's the only Black Eyed Peas that serves breakfast.

He was very nice, through and prompt. He was very patient with us and we really appreciated that. We were trying to decide on what we really wanted. This was our first time here and we really enjoyed ourselves.. Oliver came back and took our orders for the food... when I tell you everything was delicious, hot, and very flavorful. Shameka like her patty melt. Kenn and Antanaysiah grit that their steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. The Cajun shrimp and lobster linguine was mouth watering goodness. I loved that the Alfredo sauce was made from scratch, The pork chop was juicy and tender; so Asante had no complaints. The salmon was flaky and sweet so Vince liked the veggies that was with it. The bbq bacon wrapped shrimp was devine and sooo good. Josh and Candice really enjoyed them. Jade loved the taste of the couscous with the shrimp. The fries were hot and on point with the garlic Parmesan. KJ said his chicken wings were seasoned with just the right amount of sauce, The salad was crispy and yummy. They loved the creaminess of the mash potatoes and the texture of the veggies. The place was cleaned, neatly decorated and the bathrooms were clean too. Oliver was simply amazing. He took care of us and made sure everything was great!!!! To the young lady who took our picture Thanks....

As I have the past several times here, I went with the egg and carnitas tacos. I added a side of fresh fruit...both the eggs and fruit were very good. As the Benedict my wife loved is no longer on the menu, she had the avocado toast with eggs. She added a large size of the breakfast potatoes and was glad she did. While she liked the taste of the avocado toast, she was very disappointed in the small size of the portion. She wish she had more. One daughter had the Mardi Gras omelette for the first time. While she liked the flavor, the fact that the ham was a full slice (lunchmeat style), as opposed to chunks or cubes, was weird...and required cutting with a knife. The other daughter tried the quiche for the first time and loved it. It is one of the better quiches around. Coffee is very good as well. Service was fine for the most part.

The bolognese was my favorite and I'm really hoping they bring it back because I'm still thinking about it & the only other pasta I dream about was from my trip to Florence. I love the little booths up top, it gives a great view of the restaurant and the seating is comfortable. I'm not sure if I just get lucky but parking is always super easy. The last several times I've been in. I parked right on the street out front, but there is a lot straight across from the fountain and one across the street the other direction. It's been our casual and fun go-to spot for a great brunch, lunch, or dinner to enjoy time together or watch a game! We know and enjoy good food and hope it will always be around! The owners are wonderful, and the staff they hire reflect that. Beyond that, what really matters to us, at least, is great food--and Hideaway delivers every time. With the ever-growing Castle Rock food scene, we admit we've strayed from time to time depending on what we're looking for (fine dining, etc.), but we always come back to Hideaway when we want consistently good food, friendly staff, and welcoming owners. We've never had a bad meal. Unfortunately, that's hard to say about other comparable places in the area we have tried (but to each their own). Best onion rings we've tried anywhere (chicken tenders, fish tacos, burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, the Hideaway Signature Pasta--the list goes on), but honestly, everything on the menu we've ordered has been delicious, and every time we go, it takes us a while to decide since everything is so good! Hideaway has become something of a standard we compare to other similar establishments, and we look forward to dining here in the years to come!

It definitely had a kick to it, even without using much of the sauce on the side. Vegetables were good, but when they put the chicken on top of the fries, those end up getting a little soggy. While she wasn't terribly impressed at the start, the more she ate, the more she approved, deeming it to be "fine" and something she'd likely get again. The other daughter, also wanting something different, had the green chili burrito. She wasn't as impressed with the dish, saying it didn't have much taste, even after adding good amounts of salt and pepper. The burrito was described as "mid", which I guess means 'not very good.' Doubtful she orders this again. Service was fine at the start, but somewhat sporadic as the meal progressed.
