    Breakfast burrito
    Laura M.

This restaurant area is kind of part of the lobby area, shortly after you walk in. I only ate breakfast here while staying at the hotel - and both times ordered it to go (was nice that I was able to use my resort fee of $25 a day to cover it). Breakfast starts at 6:30, and just plan ahead, because service is very slow. Tuesday morning, I ordered an açaí bowl - and when I ordered, the woman that took my order told me it would be about 10 minutes. I went back up to the room to grab my stuff, back down, and it took 15-20 minutes from the time I ordered, until it was ready. Highly suggest if you're looking for something on the lighter side/not as heavy as eggs, and the fresh cut fruit on top was really good. Yesterday morning, I ordered the California burrito (no breakfast potatoes here - they use fries!) and it took about 25 minutes to come out, and I was one of the first people there at 6:30 ordering food. The burrito was delicious - but massive. Highly suggest either sharing it - or eating half one day and half the next (surprisingly it heated up fine the next day). I don't love hotels with resort fees, but I do like that they give you an option to offset it.

The Cassara Kitchen and Bar is located inside the Cassara Tapestry Hilton Hotel. I didn't get our waiter/bartenders name but he was excellent: he gave food recommendations. The wings were amazing and so was the flat bread pizza. Definitely big enough to share. There is plenty of room to sit and the outdoor area has two fire pits.

Connor provided excellent service and always had a positive attitude and smile on his face despite how busy he was. Thank you so much!

Today is Mother's Day, and my husband, one year old, and I had reservations for Mother's Day brunch at 8:45am. Mornings don't always go as planned with toddlers, so we arrived at 9am. The young hostess was very rude and let us know they can't seat us as the next wave of the brunch buffet is starting at 10:30am and that they're setting up for it. I pleaded and asked if we could eat really quickly and be in and out of there in 30 min. They harshly said no and were not understanding at all. I was pretty bummed they couldn't accommodate us, especially on Mother's Day when they could clearly see I was holding my toddler and we just wanted to get him fed. Unfortunately, due to their lack of customer service, we will not be retuning. I guess there's a reason no locals come and only hotel guests eat here. Very different vibe in customer service than the Alila Marea down the street which I would highly recommend instead for better service, views, and food. You guys lost some once-loyal, local customers!

It's hard being a lobby bar to make sure the waiter sees you, but once they know you're there, the service is fine. It's very relaxing with views overlooking the Carlsbad coastline and whatever event is happening in the outdoor area of the Hyatt. Small tv's, NOT a good place to watch a sport event. The heaters outside are very strong. They have live music on Friday/Saturday in the evening. Food/Drinks They bring you complimentary green olives with a nut. I have had marcona almonds before and this time it was soybeans. The drinks were fine, pretty expensive for a cocktail at $20+. The food is also okay. We had the Local Assorted Cured Meat and it was good! I loved the bread that came with it. The Crispy Spam Musubi was also interesting, it was like a fried rice ball (like arrencini) but with an asian flair. Overall I would not recommend you come here unless you are staying at the hotel, but the views are pretty good.

I would say Gonzo does the toppings very well. The highlight was the chashu. The broth flavor was great, very deep, but personally I like mine a bit thicker, 8/10. If you like a thinner tonkatsu, this may be your favorite. The noodles were also very firm. When they brought our bowls, they offered a few extra sauces to make it spicier, they aren't just on the table. The staff was all very friendly and provided great service. It was as if they weren't expecting us. Being its Lent and wanting to remain in observance we were looking forward to having the Baja lobster. Unfortunately we were unaware you had to request this when making a reservation. So it was disappointing to find out we were out of luck. All lobsters were spoken for. At this point we should have gotten up and left. I "settled" for the catch of the day. It was the most flavorless piece of small white fish I think I've ever had. It was chewy and maybe a tad bit overcooked. The tiny garnishes on the side might as well not have been added as they were so tiny. I felt like I was served the last of what was in the refrigerator. Thankfully we ordered two appetizers to share otherwise we would have left hungry. We sat outside which was lovely and much quieter than inside. We were able to enjoy our dinner catching up with friends. The service was very very slow. Although it gave us time to chat, it seemed to us that we were forgotten. For a luxury hotel I expected a more elevated dining experience. This was not.
