I've been going to Casa Rico's since I was a kid and the food has always been good quality mexican food. The chips are always fresh and warm and the salsa is homemade and some of the best salsa I've ever had. They have a wide variety of mexican dishes. My favorites are the enchiladas and tacos. Also the fajitahs are good and the fried ice cream is delicious! They also have specials through the week and kids eat free on a certain night. They have a brunch on Sundays which has a great selection of food if you want to try a little bit of everything. At lunch time they have a lunch menu that has all items on it for $5 they give you a good amount for the price you pay. Best Mexian food in Frederick by far! read more

We really love this place and go there or get take-out a few times per month. Kids love the quesadillas and hubby likes the chimi. I like fajitas, California burrito or maybe one of the specials. We have never had a problem with the service. Always great. read more

This place definitely is worthy of a 5 but there were some cosmetic things that needed some fixing/updating. The ceiling fans need regular dusting. A latter and a swifter long arm duster works perfectly! The bar fridge sounds like it's dying and doesn't create a pleasant sound. The food is AMAZING!!!! As a SoCal native, I'm very spoiled with authentic Mexican cuisine. This place gets a 10 for 10 on food! Great happy hour specials, large tables available! read more

You'll not find a better dish taco in Frederick. I've no idea what is in it but the flavor is amazing! Service is terrific and though it's off the beaten path the prices are extremely reasonable and it's worth the trip! read more

Great service as always and tasty food is guaranteed. If you're looking for a place with great food and drinks, definitely swing by.

The place was pleasant, food was good if not spectacular (chicken mole, enchiladas, flautas) and reasonably priced, and service was good. I was worried when my sister picked this restaurant for her birthday once I saw the reviews, but it was fine. read more

I've heard very mixed reviews over the years and a lot of friends/family said to stay away...they could not be more wrong! We went for a quick family lunch and as soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly, and our server was just the sweetest person. The margaritas were amazing ($1.99 on Mondays!), and the food was absolutely incredible (I recommend the quesadilla or the fajitas!). The atmosphere was very nice too, it felt genuine and not like a TGIF's version of a Spanish restaurant. Will absolutely be going back in the near future. read more

I selected one star because no stars wasn't an option. If you like bland Mexican food you may like this restaurant. However I like spicy. We didn't get pass the chips and queso because we were so turned off by that. The salsa was sweet, the queso tasted like kraft or velveta cheese just melted and the chips were thin, greasy, and unseasoned. Add the weird smell on top of it and we were out of the restaurant in 5 minutes. read more

Frederick, MD local spot Casa Rico has been around for many years and ive been going there since I was in a high chair. Right off the rip the entrance was inviting and it was clear the establishment was family friendly. The theme of course being Mexican focused on an indoor/outdoor theme. Meaning it was indoors, but the bar area looked like it was supposed to be outdoors with a roof theme indoor over head. Within a few minutes the waiter was there with fresh salsa and Chrispy chips. Salsa was fresh and didn't last long. However if you still want chips I can tell you they taste bland without the salsa. Waiter was nice and inviting, knew what he was doing, and working hard as others... maybe not so much. Constantly I heard dishes or something to that nature being dropped. The kitchen is not to far from where they sit people when they are slow so it was loud and everybody didn't like it. It happened a few times and when I encountered a conversation with another person they said they haven't been back since due to the loud ear piercing noise happening. On the plus side the food came out fast and was delightful. Everything seemed fresh. I had the Taco sampler that came with 3 hard or soft, I choice hard, shell tacos, refried beans, rice, and a salad fixture on the side with sour cream. The rice was cooked beautifully, re fried beans as well. The tacos seemed a tad too greasy that unfortunately sogged one of the Tacos to callapse but overall did not mind it personally. The beef was seasoned nicely. I also had the chance to try the fish tacos. The talapia combo with the chipotle sauce was amazing. Some of the best fish tacos I've had to date. The waiter invited us back and recommended the shrimp tacos next and even gave us some detail on how the fish tacos are made and talked highly of the owners of the place. They seem to carry many Beer bottles to fit the theme, but I didn't see much attention to anything draft. The type of drinks they were selling as beer could save them a nice amount of money and make more money with a draft system instead. Overall experience was was a solid B grade. If it wasn't for the careless noise that seems to be a constant thing in the back I'd be pushing an A. Will be coming back soon regardless. read more

Excellent food and drinks. Great lunch specials. Service is always good too. They also have vegetarian dishes. A really fun place.

Very friendly serving staff and the food was delicious. I lived in Dallas for 6 years before this and had access to great Mercian food and it seems hard to find in the area. I have tried several places but this one will be my regular place. I enjoyed it. The food was great and fresh. The salsa was really good. read more

Can't say enough good things about Casa Rico - I've been going there for years, and have never had a bad meal, or bad service. Had lunch there today, my friend had the San Miguel Enchiladas and I had the Pollo A La Brasa - OUTSTANDING. The seasoning was just right on both entrees, and our server, Ronnie, was a delight! Keep up the good work Casa Rico! read more

I am blown away by these reviews. I am starting to think that the local competition is posting bad reviews here. Really! My husband and I are avid mexican food eaters, therefore we are picky when it comes to choosing a restaurant. On this particular night that we found this diamond in the rough, we were driving around frederick for over an hour, looking for a decent mexican place to settle down. We are new to Frederick, so not familiar with the area. Just as we were going to give up, we spotted Casa Rico and said wth lets's just go... since we were starving. We were greeted and seated by a sweet smiling girl, our margaritas were promptly served to us and were delicious, The chips and authentic salsa were spicy and yummy. Our waitress was on point with our huge platters of food.( i forgot what my hubby ordered, but I got the crab and shrimp burrito platter) OMG sooooo good my mouth watered as I ate it. The place was clean and it felt like we were in Mexico, with the decor, fans, and music. My husband tipped big which he usually doesn't do, but we were that pleased with everything! Will return over and over again when we have our Mexican food cravings. 10 Stars for this Authentic Cuisine! read more

my husband & I have been going here for many years.... usually, the servers are good and the food better..BUT last 2 times, have been BAD! our server had no experience, and obviously could care less about the NAMES OF THE FOOD, for example, what a tamale is... I ordered a combo, hubby ordered fajitas... 45 minutes later, his food was good, mine was cold from sitting in the window.......... last visit was a repeat of the same... WORSE, was watching the young servers sitting in the other room, visiting, playing with their phones, biting their fingernails, and licking their fingers, REALLY!.... had to get up and request my food be reheated.... she said they "were cooking a new plate...I said, no ,it took way too long, please, just reheat it".....10 minutes later, but hot....... had to get out of our chairs to get a check to pay........ ridiculous !.. SO food could still be good, but get rid of the young recruits with no training or skills, and manager/owner , go back to back food server that gets the food out hot......and don't nickle and dime me to death for a side order of jalapeños.....($1.00) read more

Really happy with the service. The service was quick and nice. I never felt like I was rushed to order. The bathrooms are clean. Great family atmosphere with nice music. Food is made from scratch and is delicious. I ordered the taco salad and the taco's for my first time. The meal was made with Quality ingredients and you can taste it. I was seated immediately at the bar and the drinks and food didn't kill my pockets as far as money is concerned. I think I found my new getaway for Mexican food. read more

My family really enjoys this restaurant. Good service, excellent fish and shrimp tacos. We will continue to return.

Amazingly clean, great service, great food! Great atmosphere too! We eat here often because it's great food at moderate prices.

Stopped here on the way home from visiting Harper's Ferry. Saw a review on Yelp. Food was delicious. I has a California burrito husband had the Santa Fe burrito. Also had the watermelon mint margarita refreshing with a kick of jalapeño infused tequila. Yum! Our server was friendly and attentive. read more

I visit with my family but we had to wait 40 min for our food and was not even hot enough

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. I have lived in the Frederick area my whole life and have been to all of the Mexican restaurants this wonderful town has to offer. Casa Rico is by far the worst. Went here for a ladies lunch the other day. This was not my first time here, so I can confidently say that this was not an isolated incident. The food is mediocre at best and after the sever dropped our food off, we did not see her again until it was time to pay. However, the icing on the cake was my $17 margarita!!! I asked for a strawberry patron margarita. She brought it to the table with a shot of patron on the side. I confirmed with her that the margarita did not have any other tequila in it, because I do not care for gold tequila. She said that no it didn't and she just put the patron on the side. When it was time to pay and I asked why my margarita was $17, she said that they charge for the fruit margarita 6.95 and the patron was 10.00. I decided not to cause a scene so I paid my bill but called the next day to speak with the manger. He was very rude and explained that that was how much they charged for an upgraded margarita. Bad business! Do yourself a favor, if you want delicious authentic Mexican food, good service and REASONABLY priced drinks, go to Mexicali Cantina or Cacique. Casa Rico is no bueno! read more

My son and I eat here every 2-3 weeks. We went for the Father's Day Brunch and it was very good. A good variety of dishes, made to order omelets, many Mexican dishes as well as grilled chicken and pork, etc. The dessert included apple filled chimis which were delicious and seemed to be a favorite because ithey were all gone when my son was ready for dessert. He had no room for any, but I casually mentioned this to the waitress who told the manager and they both insisted on cooking some for him if we were willing to wait. They offered to bring them to our table. He declined because he was already stuffed and had had some of the other two desserts that were included. We have only found the waitresses to be attentive, polite, cheerful, and obliging. We find the prices reasonable, they are generous with the chips and salsa, and keep the beverages refilled without having to ask for more read more

My husband has been wanting to try this place for some time now. The salsa was good and had a lot of cilantro and cumin. We ordered 2 pork chile tamales, which were very good. I didn't like the fact that they came with melted cheese on top and was drenched in green chile. Despite this, the masa had great flavor. My husband ordered the chile colorado burrito and he absolutely loved it. They forgot to take out the bay leaf and there was more sauce than meat, but it had amazing flavor. Again, I didn't like the fact that it was drenched in chile and cheese, but the flavors were delicious! I ordered the green chile pork, which came with pickled onions, cojita cheese and 2 corn tortillas. The green chile was a little flat and could have used some more flavor, but the meat was tender. They both came with rice and black beans which were good, as well. Our waiter, Rajan, was very attentive. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Overall, it was a good experience and we would come back again to try their other menu items. read more
