How does this place get away with charging only $6.95 for a generous heaping of the most delicious homemade pasta? Seriously, set Casa Razdora anywhere in the North End and it'd charge at least double that price. Casa Razdora offers a host of tantalizing sauce and pasta combinations (in addition to pizza, sandwiches, and a wide array of daily specials), making it somewhat difficult to decide what to get. That being said, you should come in with a solid game plan. If you don't, I'm sure the friendly Italian staff would be happy to help you decide. They take pride in their food, and it shows. I went for lunch on my day off (oh how I envy the Financial District workers who can waltz in any day they like) and tried the fettuccine campagnola, which came with sausage, leeks, and porcini mushrooms all topped with a lovely white wine sauce. I'd definitely recommend this dish to anyone who doesn't care for marinara, but next time I go (and there will most certainly be a next time), I'll probably opt for one of their red sauces instead. I'm still kicking myself for not requesting a side of caprese to dip my foccacia in. The bread came with the pasta, by the way, and the bill was STILL less than seven dollars pre-tax. Man- I hesitate to give 5 stars. Especially when there are so many adjacent ones. But while in town for work today, I Yelped my way over to this place. And I'm seriously considering dogging it on the job today so I have to come back here tomorrow. And trust me, New Haven to Boston is quite a hike for lunch. While my New Haven pizza joints have ruined me for anything other that that town's goodness, the GIANT slice with hot copa was expertly sauced, and topped with jus the right amount of quality cheese. While not thin as is my preference, the dough had the right blend of chew and crunch. And I really dig the paper bag and cardboard plate. The one slice would have been enough for a lesser man. But no, it was Wednesday, so I opted for the Eggplant Parm lunch special. Again, a fantastic dish, your Italian grandmother's sauce topping tender layers of breaded and fried eggplant and cheese. All served up with a generous slice of homemade focacia. I browsed their website while enjoying my lunch back at my desk. Amazement from the officemates at the quality of what they saw on my desk, and from the value shown on my screen. Incredible value for this part of town. Pumpkin tortelloni + Nonna sauce + complimentary rosemary focaccia + San Pellegrino aranciata rossa + amazing, friendly service = wonderful and affordable experience! An important note: this is literally the best pasta I have ever eaten IN MY LIFE and it is under $10. If CR was open for dinner I would probably be the size of a house! All of the sauces are great (especially the cream-based ones... YUM), and the pumpkin tortelloni are phenomenal. I would skip any of the seafood-based dishes in favor of the plain pasta with sauce (personal preference based on extreme seafood pickiness). Sandwiches here have real(!) Prosciutto di Parma in them and are also reasonably priced and delicious. However, I pass these over (again, in favor of the pasta). In terms of bang for your buck, this place can't be beat! Razdora feels like you're entering grandma's house in Italy. Their delicious pastas are the star of the show. Perfectly cooked, homemade taste, and with a plethora of rich sauces to choose from, Casa Razdora does what those overpriced North End places does even better, for a fraction of the price. But as with any pasta dish, it must be accompanied by a great sauce. And that's where Casa Raz really shines. ( Must-try sauce: the amatriciana). Be sure to use their freshly baked foccacia to mop it all up. If you're not in the mood for pasta, their sandwiches are decent. The chicken parm was hearty, although a tad dry. Never tried the pizza. Unfortunately, they're only open for the lunch crowd, although their hours stretch til 5pm on Thurs/Fri. OMG!! GO HERE!! Go here as often as you can and as early as you can!! You know a place must be good when they are only open from 11 to 4 and only on weekdays! As soon as we landed in Boston we were guided by a greater force directly to this magical place. We didn't know what to expect. The Italian men had thick accents and they had Italian music playing and they were happily singing along. I asked for their special which they had sold out of hours ago. No problem! Casa Razdora is a hidden gem, a tiny storefront where they pump out delicious homemade pasta, panini that took me back to a long-ago summer I spent in Sardinia, and service with a smile. The menu is extensive, so we followed Yelpers' advice and tried the pumpkin tortelloni with brown butter and sage as well as the prosciutto and ricotta ravioli with nonna sauce. Both were - in a word - perfection. If only I could pick up Casa Razdora and transport it to my hometown of Austin where there is a dearth of authentic, high-quality Italian food, I would be a happy camper. This place is just amazing. It rejuvenated my passion for lunch which was killed by the very mediocre food found in the Financial District. There are, of course, a few notable exceptions, but most of the days I dream that they'd invent some sort of energy pill that would spare me from leaving the office to try something that doesn't put my taste buds to sleep. Casa Razdora is definitely like a breath of fresh air. First of all, the chef there is actually Italian. And I mean the kind from Italy and not the kind you find in tanning salons in Revere. Secondly he really does seem to care about food. Everything tastes very fresh and well thought out. Most dishes are prepared to order. All the people who work there are extremely nice. So far I have only tried the pasta specials and they have been top notch. The sauces are not overwhelming and the ingredients taste very fresh. And the prices are very moderate as well. You get restaurant quality food for well under 10 bucks. Compare that to the more expensive assembly line quality food that you get from the typical financial district places like Cozi and Panera. We order from Casa Razdora for lunch, so it is a great spot in the financial district for a quick Italian fix. They typically deliver earlier than the scheduled time, which is always great. Tip - be aware of the pasta dishes with cream. I found that it was really heavy and I was left feeling kind of gross only after eating about half of the pasta. Also, I'm not a big fan of their meatballs. It's either the mix of meats or spices, but it is fairly soft and not very firm. It almost gives you the mouth sensation that it isn't cooked through, Positives -- The tomato and pesto based pastas w/no cream + chicken are delicious. I think my favorite is the simple tomato diavolo sauce. I've also really enjoyed the turkey tip salad, which comes with a nice tangy vinaigrette. read more

You can eat like in a North End restaurant spending less than $10 Tips: Better to take away than to eat there, the place gets with a lot of smoke and with a long line between 12:30 and 01:30pm. This is probably the best Italian lunch place downtown. It's quick, delicious and cheap. The best thing is that it's fresh! Homemade pastas, and plenty of different pasta types to choose & pair different sauces with. The key is finding the right thing to pair, and that's where it's fun because they're all good. So far my favorite is the ricotta & spinach ravioli with bolognese! However, there's much more to choose from. Oh, on a side note - maybe I'm a meatball snob, but I wasn't impressed with their meatballs. This place is more-so about the fresh pastas and sauces! They also have great daily specials. I've had the fortunate opportunity of enjoying this place outside of peak hours several times. It's always been disappointing. Perhaps I've let the yelp reviews overhype it for me. Pros: Really good sauces. I mean bottle-it-and-sell-it good. The authentic feel since the speakers shout everything in italian. And the foccacia offered as a side is delicious when you get it earlier on in the day. Perfectly cooked pasta Cons: Subs with any type of sauce are WAY too saucy. Bread is plain and bland--I don't believe mine were ever toasted. Salad portions are ridiculously small. Seafood does not taste fresh--the smell ruined a pasta plate I ordered once. Absolutely the best choice we've ever made in Boston. Went for lunch/dinner prior to the Red Sox game. Caprese that was jazzed up with some antipasti items was fabulous. Spinach and ricotta stuffed cannelloni with bolognese was the best we've ever eaten and the cannelloni pasta itself was perfect. . Penne with 2 meatballs and pomodoro sauce was beyond description. Pasta and the Rosemary flavored bread are both homemade and terrific. This place is family owned and operated and they are friendly and outgoing and treated us like family except that we didn't have to wash the dishes. Beware that the place is small and packed and only open for lunch but it is fabulous. Sandwiches and pizzas looked great as well. My go to lunch spot every couple weeks. I've tried the Italian and turkey tip. Both were good but I liked the Turkey tip better. The veggies are super fresh and you can see them prepare the sandwiches behind the counter. I usually order via phone and pick up since it gets crowded during lunch. Portions are huge and I usually save the other half for the next day. Although I've learned the Italian doesn't sit well and taste good the next day so better to eat it in one setting. Casa Razdora is run by a group of cooks who hail from Emilia-Romagna, and so it offers authentic dishes particular to that Italian region. For instance, you can find true Piadina (italian corn flat-bread) and cascioni (stuffed piadina) with the variety this place offers. Anything in the menu is almost guaranted to be delicious. I usually come here for Tonno Italiano piadina, and cascioni montanaro. But my favorite is the Thursday special: Rotoli di melanzana (rolled eggplants), it is light, nutritious, and tasty. The pizza is also fantastic, but you gotta come before 1:00 pm in order to get your slice before the pace runs out of dough! Nowhere else in Boston you will find such great menu items with such reasonable prices, so I advice all lovers of Italian food to try this place. read more

I don't give 5s. 5s represent food as good as you can find. I have never tasted such a good selection of pastas as when we stopped by here. The sauces were cooked down to perfection. Between 5 of us we tried several dishes. Each home-made pasta was very well done. Each sauce was well done as well. I have not had such a good selection of legitimate Italian pastas anywhere else. That's where the 5 comes from. The best of the best was the penne in alfredo sauce. It was like eating butter - butter made in some Italian angel's kitchen in the best part of the after-life. Definitely worth a walk from the aquarium. Also I recommend the sprinkle covered chocolate balls made from mascarpone, cookie crumbs and all round goodness. One each ended the meal well. read more

Just astounding quality to price ratio. I only had the pumpkin ravioli with carbonara sauce- with a meatball, so I can't speak for their other menu items. The ravioli was delicious and cooked perfectly. The sauce was phenomenal- bursting with flavor. The onion in it was finely diced and added a (great) pronounced flavor. Together with some sort of spice- rosemary or thyme maybe- that rounded out the mellow flavors of the cream and butter. The small pieces of meat in the sauce had maintained a nice crispy/chewy texture to it- like it was added after the fact and wasn't just sitting in the sauce while it simmered all day. Nice. The meatball was good. I pride myself on our (Italian) family's meatball recipe. I still think mine tastes better (of course), but this was still quite good; a bit sweet. I think it was made of pork and/or veal maybe instead of straight beef. Or a combination of them. What I did appreciate was that this meatball had the perfect texture. No flaking when you cut it. Totally moist, but cuts cleanly without flaking or falling apart. The accompanying sauce was noticeably homemade and fresh. A meal that would have cost $20+ at same or lower quality in the North End, all for $13. Cafe Razdora is giving them a run for the money. read more

This place is a nice change of pace from your typical Downtown/Financial District lunch break. I enjoyed the location before when it was Sam and Anne's, and Casa Razdora has the same feel: low-key, under the radar with well-prepared homemade dishes. So far, I've only had their panini and piadine (been there four times in five days) and must say they were all very enjoyable. My favorite is their Prosciutto di Parma panini, which is loaded with not too dry/not too salty prosciutto slices topped with freshly sliced tomatoes, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese, some black pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. To top it off, the panini bread is simply amazing: fresh, crunchy crust, with a soft delicious core (only panini I've head that does not cut the inside of my mouth on the first bites). It's a full sensorial experience: it looks great, smells great, feels great and tastes awesome! I've also had their Italiano panini, which is equally a treat. Piadina sandwiches are like italian "tacos", a "shell" is made fresh out of unleavened bread - pretty sure it's their pizza dough - and filled with their delicious fresh ingredients. It's a lighter, more compact option to the panini, but just as tasty. The service is very friendly and efficient, however, because they slice and prepare everything as soon as you order your sandwich, it takes maybe 2 to 3 minutes longer than your average fast food/sub shop. I came in for a late lunch because I have heard this place can get very packed for lunch and they close at 4pm. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and after checking out the menu I ordered the Gnocchi with Bolognese. I waited for them to prepare it and the gentleman behind the counter brought me some bread and my utensils. The pasta came up and I went to pick it up and sat down to eat. The gnocchi was good and the sauce was really good. I have to say I was not super impressed but maybe it's because I got a very simple dish. I'm having a religious experience over here. My boyfriend and I were deciding where to go for lunch, and I remembered having read about Casa Razdora, and being nearby we decided to go. Am I ever glad we did. Now, I fancy myself a connoisseur of caprese, which is to say, if there is a caprese sandwich in my vicinity that is not already spoken for, I will eat it. I ordered the caprese sandwich as such, and my boyfriend got the pasta al pesce. The mozzarella is very fresh, and $6.50 for how much you get (and it's on a half baguette - the sandwiches are not small) is unbelievable considering how overpriced lunch is in the Financial District. It is hands down the best caprese I've ever had. Not too much, not too little, perfect balance of filling to bread. They've converted me. My boyfriend's pasta was delicious and homemade, the sauce was full of flavour, and the seafood was fresh and skillfully cooked. Considering the abundance of ingredients, at any upscale place, you'd pay twice the price for comparable quality. There'll be a line out the door after noon (that's how you know it's good), so get there early, but it moves quickly enough and the service is brisk but very friendly. You can bet I'll be going back regularly. It's one of few times I've been genuinely sad my sandwich is gone. read more

Came here a month ago while in town on business...I'm still thinking about the sacchetti. Based on the recommendation of the guy working the register, I ordered the sacchetti with patrizia sauce. The sacchetti are little pasta pouches filled cheese and pear. They looked like mini versions of the bags of gold you'd see Scrooge McDuck toting. The pear and cheese were a nice sweet and savory combo. The patrizia sauce is made with tallegio cheese. I've never had it before, but in the accurate words of the chef it is a "smelly, but delicious cheese." This dish was pretty rich and prompted a visit to the treadmill, but I definitely recommend it! As others have mentioned, they're only open for lunch. Closing so early was a bummer to me because I would have liked to come back for dinner every night I was in town. Absolutely love this place. As the designated lunch orderer for my office, I come here at least once a week with an order for 20+ meatballs. Seriously, they're that good. I went here today just because I was on YELP looking for a place to go to dinner. I saw this place with 5 stars a short walk from my office and figured I would go get some lunch from there. Burro E Salvia..OMG..I am so in heaven right now.. Like..I take a bite and then turn to type to savor the flavor. I read so many reviews about it I opted to give it a try. =) Yes the line was long (out the door) but it moved so quick..I was in, ordered and out with in 10 minutes or so. I think there was only 2 people eating at the windows, everyone else (including me) took it to go. I could have stopped off in PO square and ate with the violins..hmmm...,..what was I thinking running back to my desk? LOL Go give this place a try.. Went here for lunch to check it out after reading so many rave reviews on Yelp. First off, this place is POPULAR. It may be hidden on a side street, but locals definitely know it's there. Secondly, this place is only open during lunch hours on weekdays--that means that you're gonna have to brave the lunch rush or have an early or very late lunch to check it out. Third, know what to order. They will ask you to order, even if you're standing in the street so that it will be ready by the time you make it to the register. Fourth, there isn't much seating inside so either plan to carry-out or hope that a table or bar stool opens up. As for the food, we had to try the pumpkin tortelloni after reading many reviews. We also tried the pollo marinato sandwich, one of their newer menu items. The sandwich was good--nothing great. The chicken came grilled and had a nice blackened flavor. The cheese also went well with the bread and the peppers provided a nice cooling bite. I wish that they were spicier peppers, but it was a decent sandwich nonetheless. The pumpkin tortelloni was definitely the better of the two dishes. It has a hearty pumpkin taste and with the butter and sage sauce, it really stood out. I have to admit that I was expecting to be more 'wow'ed by this dish, but it was still tasty. We also finished the meal with one of their chocolate (truffle?) desserts and neither of us was very impressed. Overall, the service was extremely friendly here and the food came out quickly--not the best Italian I've had in Boston, but definitely a solid lunch option in the financial district. read more

I tried this place once before. I ordered a traditional ziti and meatballs and had an underwhelming experience, but when I saw how many great reviews this place had I decided to give it another try. This time, I decided to go with something a little different so I ordered the pumpkin tortelloni with sage butter sauce. The surly guy behind the counter asked if I wanted any cheese, when I said no, he made some off hand comment about how "a little cheese wont hurt you" and put it on anyway. As I was about one block away from the restaurant, heading back to my building I noticed that the oil started to seep into the bottom of the paper bag. By the time I got back to the building I had to hold the container with both hands to keep it from completely falling through. Disgusting. When I sat down to eat I was horrified to discover how little pasta was given to me for almost 10 dollars. It literally did not even cover the bottom of the container. The pasta itself was flavorful but NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE BEST I ever had. Which is what a lot of the yelpers are saying. The best pasta I ever had is at Toscano in Beacon Hill but there are also dozens of better italian restaurants 5 minutes away in the north end. If you want a quick local italian lunch place that is cheaper, faster, much bigger portions, and just as good, Viga is right down the street (which I would only give 3 stars to). TO SUMMARIZE, If you want to deal with the soup nazi behind the counter while you are waiting to overpay for your undersized portion of overrated food come here. I think this might be the best tasting, most authentic Italian lunch in the financial district. First thing: don't try showing up between 12 and 1 unless you're in for a LONG wait. Go for early or late lunches. All of their sandwiches are hand-made, even down to freshly slicing all the ingredients directly onto the bread. My favorite is the Prosciutto di Parma. So I am what a call a lurking Yelper, I always find restaurants though these reviews but never have myself written one. That being said I signed up purely to write this review for Casa Razdora, I work right down the street and I am in here 2 - 3 times a week for lunch, and at this point have been at least 40 visits. I have NEVER had a bad meal here and never even a meal I would consider average. Everything has always been perfection, First there is the fresh homemade pasta and sauce. Speaking of the sauce there is about 20 choices which is all fresh made to order and they are all amazing (Try the Vodka Sauce)! They also have great made to order sandwiches, with high quality Italian meats and cheeses on fresh rolls (I recommend their namesake Razdora Sandwich). To top it all off there is the service, when ever I go in there I am greeted by people who remember you and and are happy making good quality food even int he mist of a line out the door because the spot is that popular. The prices are also lower then anywhere in the area where you normally find yourself paying over $10 for lunch. I cannot tell you enough how much you need to to stop by this place for lunch, if you have the opportunity and don't you are doing yourself, and your stomach a disservice. read more

Maybe i just don't know good pasta until it is being shoved into my face, all the way down my throat, choke*. We got takeout here Friday during lunch time. Man it was packed with a huge line. Are you looking for an Italian meal for less than $10 during the day? Is it also possible to actually hear Italian being spoken inside a small eatery in Boston? Yes, it is possible once you walk into this place and this place has your answer. Located deep in the heart of the somewhat decent city of Boston, this small place specializes in a variety of Italian style dishes that begin with the letter "P": Pastas, Pizzas, and Panini (Italian style sandwich). The first time I came here, they were serving this Monday special called Panino alla Porchetta. This is a sandwich made with pork, lettuce, mayonnaise, and some spiced up peppers. After the first bite, I was fairly impressed. The bread was fairly fresh and chewy, the pork was tender, but the lettuce combined with the slight spice of the pepper and the coolness of the mayonnaise just made this sandwich tastier. One sandwich should be enough to keep your stomach full for the day. Although I believe they do a good job with their Panini, they do an even better job when it comes to serving their Pasta dishes. For about $9.49 I was able to get a San Pelligrino Aranciata beverage, a piece of bread that was almost 20 cm in length, and 6 cm wide, and a plate filled with Fettuccine style pasta mixed with Carbonara style sauce. This is a cream sauce made from Italian style bacon called Pancetta, eggs and black pepper. The bread was really good, soft, chewy and has a nice soft fluffiness. The texture of the pasta was soft, possibly almost "al dente" style. The sauce was really good, there was a nice crisp texture from the bacon, and it was not overly creamy or watery. Mixing that sauce with the good quality pasta, and I was eating a really tasty pasta dish that's almost as good as a pasta dish served in a sophisticated Italian restaurant. Portions are really good, and one dish should get a really hungry man's stomach full. The service is fairly effective, and the lady who works here not only speaks Italian fairly fluently but can also speak flawless plebeian Eastern New England style English. This is probably the first place I have been to in Boston that I actually heard Italian being spoken since I left Rome. From the outside, you'd never know that this little hole in the wall was such a hidden gem in the financial district. I have yet to give 5 stars to a lunch place but this great find really deserves it. Let's talk food - everything here is delicious. But ultimately its their daily specials and their homemade pastas and sauces that really gives me something to rave about. Every day of the week they have daily specials - a few of my favorites: - Parmigiana Di Melanzane (eggplant) melts in your mouth and is not the typical breaded & fried version. - Any of their specials with rolled pasta sheets. Such delicate texture but so flavorful. If you're looking for pasta, this is the place to go. All their pastas are homemade along with the sauce. None of that canned crap I know they are serving at some of these lunch places. And probably my absolute favorite thing about eating here is the Italian-speaking staff. The food here is so good! I have had a slice of the cheese pizza. As mentioned by many others, this is about 1/4 of a pizza. The flavor is incredible in the sauce and cheese, and the crust is a perfect combination of soft and crunchy. The second time I went to Casa Razdora, I had the pumpkin tortelloni with nonna sauce. It was the perfect size for the lunch and comes with a piece of bread. I highly recommend. I can't wait to return to try their many other options of pasta, sauce, sandwiches and lunch specials. This place has very limited seating as it is tiny. Don't be surprised to see a long line, but it does move quickly. read more

Just walking in the door I knew I'd love the food. It's a small space that many restaurants have attempted but failed. I'm hoping this place succeeds and stays a long time. I noticed that they have a catering menu, very smart in this neighborhood. I intended on getting a pasta dish because everything here is handcrafted daily but I saw the Spinaci alla Razdora daily special and had to have it. I saw all kinds of pizza pies and some beautiful pastas that I'll try next time. So the special was baked spinach mixed w/ four types of cheese, sauteed mushrooms & onions served with a beautiful light slice of herbed foccacia. The spincah was just transcending...perfectly cooked, mushrooms and onions sauteed just right...a wonderful balance of flavors and the foccacia was like air. It was busy, which is good and I was in and out in less then 5 minutes. Again, let's hope they succeed where others have failed. read more
