I can't believe it has taken me so long to try the beauty services at Carrie Lindsey. It is just a few blocks from my home. I'm so glad my first experience was so wonderful. I had a special event and I wanted to get my make up done professionally. I was concerned because in the past, when having my make up done it was just "too much." Instead of looking great the makeup was overpowering and unnatural. I had an appointment with Jenny on the afternoon of the event. Jenny was a sweetheart. She was patient, really listened to what I liked and didn't like. I had shown her photos of my dress which was helpful. I was stressed when I came for my appointment and Jenny and the other beautician's went out of their way to make me feel relaxed and at ease. My make up looked spectacular! It wasn't overdone, it was absolutely lovely and glamorous. I plan to make another appointment with Jenny to do a make up tutorial. I know I won't be able to do my own make up as flawlessly as Jenny. I came for eyebrow shaping and left very disappointed. First, and most importantly, the esthetician did not sanitize her hands before my service. I watched her finish up another client and check her phone before turning to me and at no point did she clean her hands. I shouldn't have to address that. The eyebrow service itself was very poor. She was chatty and friendly but spent less than 5 minutes on my brows. There was absolutely no shaping. I had to point out multiple stray and long hairs when she was ready to end the $45 service. I have had much better experiences for half the price. I left looking exactly the same. This was a complete waste of money and time. read more

I've only been once.. and the aesthetician who did my brow and lash tint was super sweet. The space is very clean and setup in a very friendly way. I love that they have jewelry from artists around the world displayed and on sale in their shop. I appreciate that. This was my first time there and first time getting my brows and lashes done so I was nervous.. I know ppl do this all the time but I don't, honestly hadn't had my brows even waxed since senior prom and I'm well past that stage haha! So I was a lil nervous for everything to go well. Unfortunately, I had a nightmare experience with Carrie during a facial which this review is based on. During my facial, Carrie was very distracted and mentioned that she had a text that she was waiting for once we entered the room. During the downtime, instead of the normal massage (which I've received with other estheticians) -- she went to text on her phone WHILE she was IN the room. And then without washing her hands, went back to touching my face. Highly recommend! I'm a bit picky when it comes to body workers and aestheticians and was blown away by the prenatal massage AND facial I just got. I am 6 months pregnant so require a bit of extra expertise and all clean products... both of which I received today. Giselle did my massage and her 20 yrs of experience really show. She understands body alignment, functional movement and how the body cHanges during pregnancy. The massage was both effective (she unlocked my left SI joint!) and relaxing which is rare. Brenna did my facial and I've never had an hour facial that felt more thorough. We steamed, extracted, exfoliated, masked, massaged and guasha-ed. She gave me tips for my skin without pushing any specific products (rare) and closed out tHe session with some cold stones rolling on my face which I have never had before but was awesome. My skin feels hydrated and glowing. Prices are reasonable given the level of service. Very happy to be walking distance from this spot read more

A beautiful natural brow that makes you feel instantly beautiful. With masks hiding our smiles, your brows need Lara stat! I travel from UWS to Fort Greene to see Lara .... and would go farther if she ever moves. Her new spot, Carrie Lindsey Beauty, is gorgeous and centrally-located in Fort Greene. I didn't purchase anything from this establishment but i did experience it. I met the owner and she is amazing. She offers a line of a few different luxurious lines for facial and body products. She also offers eye brow tinting and facials. She complimented me on my eyebrows and proceeded to fill them in really nicely. Myself and another client who came in were offered wine and it was just a beautiful experience. I will definitely be back to try some products or possibly get a facial as i am currently in the process of removing some blemishing that I have allowed to settle. read more

Not only does she create an incredibly relaxing atmosphere but she has the best of both worlds - the gentlest touch when it comes to extractions and then lovely strong hands when it comes to the massage part! My skin both looks and feels fantastic. :) I also had my brows done. Carrie created a lovely natural shape and the process was painless! Carrie is a dream. She's really really good with skin care. I always leave glowing. But she's also so lovely to be the company of. She takes my skin through an amazing routine (including microcurrent), and matches me up to great skincare products. Disappointed by my experience here. When I made the appointment, I made sure to clearly outline all my allergies to fragrance to make sure that I could be accommodated. When I arrived for my facial, it turns out there were very few products I could actually use, so I was unable to get the treatment I was seeking. I highly recommend this business. They keep this place clean, warm, and inviting. I was treated with respect and kindness by the staff. I was especially anxious about my first wax and Heather went above and beyond to assuage my fears and make me comfortable. I've had waxes from both Heather and Carrie and both women are excellent at what they do. I book my appointments online on MindBody and I've never felt rushed. I've gone on the weekends only and it doesn't seem like they overbook clients. They do sell products in the front of the spa, but I've never had one pushed on me and I've never been pressured to buy a service I didn't want. I can't say enough good things about them. Carrie is gem. I've been popping into this store since it opened, and although I haven't had any treatments I've bought products. THE PRODUCTS ARE AMAZING. Carrie carefully selects lines that are remarkably effective, clean, and function like All Stars. Her deep experience of skin care and skin health is evidenced via her gorgeous stocklist. Based on my concerns, she recommended a brilliant brightening mask that also doubles as a spot treatment for the occasional blemish; a lovely propolis serum moisturizer that sorts out my combination skin issues upon application; and several lipsticks and a blush that I can't live without. Besides being a master esthetician with a seriously devout following, Carrie is a color whisperer: she has an innate ability to suggest colors that compliment one's skin tone and vibe and she is always right. ALWAYS. It's basically eerie but don't question it. Just go. And let the magic happen. I should mention that the shop has a gorgeous and tightly edited selection of vintage jewelry as well as a rotating curation of handmade ceramics and handicrafts--like stunning artisan textiles made into modern-shaped totes, accent pillows, woven and knit throws and such. I've had the excellent fortune to have been part of Carrie's following through several establishments. She a master aesthetician and a bright and delightful person with whom to spend an hour. She's given me brilliant skin care suggestions for my lazy teen with mild acne (Simple Wipes!). She correctly diagnosed a basal cell carcinoma on my chest that I wouldn't have realized was an issue (no big deal, dermatologist fixed it with a cream). I spent almost the entire hour of my facial with Heather thinking about all the ways I wanted to compliment her on Yelp. I had not had a facial in over a year, and was somewhat underwhelmed by my last facial from a different spa. This very cute spa and conveniently located in Fort Greene first came to my attention when Emily Weiss from Into The Gloss/Glossier fame posted about it. I checked the prices (which are definitely not unreasonable based on the quality of the service and products and overall enjoyable experience) and decided to make an appointment. I was not disappointed and I am marveling at my skin a week later. I am trying to set up a regimen before my wedding in 10 months and Heather suggested coming back around every 8-10 weeks (which I thought was a realistic amount, not a sales tactic). This tiny place is tucked on a side street in a busy part of Fort Greene. The first time I made an appointment here, I walked right by and had to back track! That aside, I'm very glad I did. This place is so warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly and attentive and the services are great. Carrie is very professional and obviously runs a very good business. The first time I was there, it was warm outside and the front sliding doors were wide open to let in the early fall breeze and sunshine. I loved that! The second time, it was cooler, so the doors were closed and inside was super cozy. Someone came in with a bottle of wine to share with everyone and we all sat around chatting. The prices are higher than some other local spas but I felt it was well worth it for the atmosphere, cleanliness and overall great service. I will definitely be back! read more

I don't trust anyone to touch my brows, except Carrie! It's a pretty big deal to let someone mess with your face and she does a beautiful job. Carrie is such a ray of sunshine and so ridiculously good at what she does. I have never been super happy with my brows and with Carrie's magic touch they now have a real shape, and look richer and fuller thanks to the natural tint she applied. And that was just the beginning - after brows I had a 60 minute facial, which was basically 60 minutes of heaven.
