TLDR; As a chronic pain sufferer who gets massages weekly, this was the best massage I've ever had by far. I can not believe I forgot to write this review sooner, but I just visited Tangs a few weeks ago when my boyfriend and I came to NY for a film festival. We both suffer from chronic pain daily, but travel (especially by plane) is very often detrimental to us. After spending a few days hobbling around, I finally decided enough was enough and started looking for a masseuse. I ended up treating us to a couples massage with Jenny and Lin... I would fly to New York just to go back to Tangs. The pressure they used was perfect as they actually understood how to listen to our bodies, they were thorough but also aware enough to focus more on what needed it, and I know this is such a small thing but instead having a timer that beeped loudly at the end of the hour, they set a stopwatch instead so there was no loud noise while we were already so relaxed. We'll be coming back for the film festival again next year and we will be planning the trip around going back to Tangs. Cannot recommend enough. read more

Was able to walk in and get a 30 min foot massage. Was my first so don't have anything to compare. After walking around NYC for the past two days, my feet and calves needed the love and attention - massage with lotion, hot stones and warm towel cleanup. The ambiance is quiet enough to fall asleep for a doze but not a deep sleep. Service was perfect and great value. Will come again. read more

I came here 8 times today I guess I should write some comments:-)) I tried 7 different masseuses, and now I finally found the 2 excellent masseuses I love :) thank God!!!!!! Other masseuses are great too but I'm just need extra effort on my feet. Tang's Spa add additional 5 mins at the end for HOT STONE , which I love the most. I booked a 45-minute full-body massage with a male therapist. The massage itself was very good and firm. I did see Nicole M.'s review from October 2023 before going: "it took me a while to get the courage for this review. I have had a lot of massage by men in NYC but this one felt very uncomfortable for me - the masseuse peeked at my body when I rolled over and his strokes went a little too close between my legs." Unfortunately, something similar happened to me. Close to the end of the massage, when using a towel to wipe off the massage oil, he touched me between my legs (with the towel). The same thing happened when he was wiping down the other side. It's possible this was fully unintentional--there is plausible deniability--but this is the type of thing that I don't want to have to guide therapists on. I'd rather they erred on the side of caution and not have to be told. I don't want to be nervous and on guard about being touched in unwanted places. I'm simply not going back and wanted to leave this review to alert others considering full-body massages. read more

Though I'm leaning more towards a 4.5-star review, I genuinely liked this massage spot. I came here for a couples massage on Valentine's Day. We had a really nice time. Pros: - great massage, and we were asked what type of pressure we wanted - affordable - easy to book appointment - the place is immaculate - nice ambiance - polite, friendly staff - they added hot stones to the massages Cons - the massage rooms (while nicely, tastefully decorated!) are similar to cubicles, so the walls don't go all the way to the top. - because the walls don't go all the way up, you can hear some outside noise and other patrons - the towels to cover up with don't really go with the rest of the decor. They look like cheap beach towels, which kills the classy vibe I kind of think they might be going for. I'd definitely go back! read more

Gary! Gave me one of the best one hour massages I've gotten . I don't like too much pressure , but he added a little more than I'm normally used to and it was SO amazing. He also targeted all my spot areas that needed attention! He doesn't speak English I wish I was able to communicate a little better! Defn book this place . It's nice and very clean and quiet. I have severe spinal issues (osteoarthritis, stenosis, failed fusion syndrome, osteophytes, spinal radiculopathy, neuropathy, muscle spasms) and live in discomfort. I had the most amazing massage at Tang's after days of barely being able to move and other massages. The massage ended an intense muscle spasm. The staff was kind and professional. Everyone was working with a mask, which is a good habit these days. Peter gave me an excellent Swedish massage and used hot stones.
