I didnt have a good experience the first time in this place but I went here a second time after several years because well I was temporarily gonna lose all my hair and needed to cut my hair super short. It was pouring rain and this place was close so decided it for convenience. I called them mentioning I just want a simple cut ($75). They said they have availability. What I didnt know was they assigned me to the same stylish I had several years ago. Not sure why. I didntb ask for it. I came 8 min before my appointment time and they made me wait 25 minutes, I was not well. I told them my situation and this hair cut was only temporary. They charged me $136. I felt really low. My friends and family told me that while my hair style was good it did feel like they took advantage of my situation. I wont be coming back here ever again. read more

Salon 718 is the local salon that has a good local following and delivers a fab haircut and color. The stylists are always super friendly, great at conversation, and are exceptionally kind. I've had two cuts here, once with Satchi and another with Joe. Both were great listeners, quick, and expert at styling with my long, straight, heavy hair. The salon is relaxed and casual, and everyone treats you like the queen you deserve to be. The online portal recently underwent some changes, but it was easy to navigate the system, book an appointment, and pay. Note that late afternoon you may have to wait a little if the morning appointments had backlog, but it wasn't unreasonable and I didn't feel that my cut was rushed due to this. Prices are fair for the neighborhood and the skill. read more

I will preface this by saying Cynthia cut my hair fabulously!!! And I would love to recommend this salon to others is the billing didn't go so haywire after my haircut. I saw that a curly cut online was $140. After my haircut I was charged $100 and thought that was a bit low so I said "are you sure this is me?" and when they confirmed it was I tapped my card, added a $20 tip and went about my way happy. A month later I was looking through the statement of the card I had used to book my appointment online (different than what I paid with) and had a charge for $180. When I called they said they had charged the wrong person for the wrong haircut and voided my original $120 and charged the card on file the $140 PLUS a $15 long hair fee (which I was never made aware of) and assumed $20 tip without ANY communication to me. Legally I don't know how this all works but it feels pretty backwards that I'd have an additional $60 charged to a different card with no effort to make it known to me when they made a mistake at checkout. I want Cynthia to get paid for her great work but I want to notify people that the salon has poor communication and may charge your card on file without permission or notification. read more

Got a haircut from Sachi and I am in awe! This is the best haircut I've ever gotten. Sachi listened to what I wanted, had an honest conversation with me about what would work for my hair and what wouldn't, and stayed consistent throughout / kept checking in. Curly cuts never work for me because my curl pattern is not consistent, but she did wonders even with a regular haircut. I've been going to Salon718 for about 3 years. I mostly go for a single process, which covers my gray and my black roots. My hair has been colored for over 15 yrs. Color changes from Cinammon, Paprika, Pink tint sometimes. Nothing crazy. I always get compliments on the color. (Don't know the actual color names). The 1st stylist left after Triple Crown changed management (Fulton St location). She was great. No issues. Name changed from Triple Crown to Salon718. I met Brandon, little skeptical at first b/c the color is a big thing for me and it was me starting over again w/someone new. He got it right on the first try and I knew this would work. I don't have a perm and he takes care of my hair well and alway gives good advice. I sometimes get the straight blow dry, but I basically go for the color every 7 weeks and I take care of it in between. I am very satisfied. I feel he cares about my hair and will suggest changes he feels are needed to give me the best care for my hair. So far I haven't experienced any issues that made me want to change. He's also a pleasure to chat with. I go to the DeKalb Avenue location for convenience. The vibe is also kool. read more

I think you get the picture. I always leave here feeling and looking great with healthier hair than when I entered. These guys are professionals and love their work! I did a consultation earlier in the week with Maggie who made the process so smooth and helped me figure out what cut, style, and color I would need for a low-maintenance hairstyle. I just left Salon 718 and had to write a review right away. I was looking for a moderate price point as I'm really trying to save money but needed a trim and shape up. I saw positive reviews for this salon so decided to give it a try. I'll start by saying ALL of the employees here were so pleasant. I was greeted, given a sterile fresh robe and waited about 5 minutes for my stylist. Christine was amazing. She really listened, made recommendations with reasoning, and definitely knew what she was doing. I have fine, curly hair and no one has ever cut it curly (I've been to very high end salons), she did and it came out fantastic. Great shape and the curls look amazing. Highly recommend this salon!! I came here for a birthday curly hair with Cynthia because she was highly recommended by family members. It is in a busy area so I recommend taking public transportation to this location. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They took my coat and put it in the coat closet. Cynthia was out of this world. She has such expertise in curly hair. My hair looked like absolute crap when I got there and walked out looking like a million bucks. She asked exactly what I was looking for and cut my hair according to my crazy curls. She knows exactly what to do to make sure your hair looks incredible and healthy. Even the lady before me looked incredible when she left the chair and I knew i was in good hands. The curly cut with Cynthia is about $125 but its so worth it if you have curly hair and want to look healthy with your curls. Curly hair gets so abused and she knows how revive it back to life! Pros: - Great location- a block away from Dekalb Station. - Enjoyed my soothing and relaxing hair wash and massage. - Was very happy with the haircut and blow-dry Christine gave me. The length was exactly what I wanted. Christine is also very friendly and easy to talk to. She gave me many good tips on how to achieve high volume for my thin hair type. Cons: - Only downside to my 2nd experience at Salon 718 was that Christine worked on 2 other people at the same time. Cynthia cut my hair. My hair is very dry and has a tight curl pattern often resulting in an afro if I dare wear it out. So instead, I usually pin it up on a daily basis and have a love/hate relationship with my hair. Cynthia was very knowledgeable about curly hair and used really good products on my hair during the wash and shampoo process. She was friendly and provided information about ways to improve my daily hair care regimen. It's been a year and two months since my hair was last cut but I was glad to see that I didn't have a lot of split ends and very little breakage. She was not scissor happy and only took off what was needed. She recommended products and daily regimen tips which will improve the health of my hair. I am certainly satisfied with my experience and would be willing to return for hair cuts maybe 3 - 4 times a year. Once I have applied her suggestions and see a difference in my hair then I would be willing to go back to consider adding highlights. read more
