If I could give them 0 star I would most definitely do so! I took my Honda Civic in for an appraisal about 2-3 weeks ago since the lease is almost due. They gave me a reasonable appraisal and the staff was very friendly and Mahmoud was the person who helped me out actually. Since it was during the Thanksgiving week, Honda Financial was close for about 4-5 days. Since their appraisal is only good for 7 days I wanted to get a pay off quote and also do a little bit more research before accepting their appraisal (16K). I ended up getting a second appraisal from the which ended up being the same exact price as the first one and this was like the second week of December. Let me be clear here, never during any of these appraisals I was told by either Mahmoud or any of the other employees that if I do decide to sell my car to Carmax, I need to provide them with the account number in order for them to call and speak to a "live" person from Honda Financial Services. I will explain why this is important and the reason it was never mentioned cost me a $1,000 deduction. Due to different plans and difficulties coming up I was unable to go to Carmax and let them know of my final decision on the last day of the second appraisal, which was this past Saturday. I got there all excited and ready to leave my Civic and basically sell the car to Carmax. They had us go to the business section and have them get me a pay off quote. I provided them with my account number and last four of the social, they came back to me about 15-20 minutes and mentioned how Honda Financial is closed now and that I have to come back Monday and get a reappraisal in and asked me to call Carmax in the morning to have them get the pay off quote. Their policy about talking to a "live" person is beyond ridiculous and none sense, because I did my due diligence and got the specific pay off quote for Carmax from Honda Financial myself and also told them that there is an automated number that a Honda dealership provided me with that can provide a pay off quote amount that is good for 10 days, which would be the same exact amount a live person would provide. They still didn't approve of it and basically ruined my change of selling the car that day and had me come in Monday, which is today, to get a reappraisal. My dad went in today to get a reappraisal and guess what they do? They kept asking him to provide them with the account number and the last four of my social in order for them to get the pay off quote and try to seal the deal before even getting us the new appraisal amount!! Fortunately, my dad did not provide them with any of the information and asked to see the new appraisal first. I had to go write after work to see what the appraisal is and see if we can seal the deal today. I get them and they are telling me that the car's value based on Carmax's standards has dropped to $15,000 from $16,000. LISTEN TO THE RIDICULOUS REASONING PLESAE!! The reason that the price of the car has dropped by a $1,000 for the same car with the same exact condition, is that the last two appraisers did notice the car has been in one accident, but they didn't look thoroughly to make sure that the connector between the bumper and the body of the car in the back has not been repaired! Since the the connector has been repaired it does not meet Carmax's Standards and we are unable to resell the car and we have to put it out for wholesale. First of all, how in the world is that my fault that your appraisers missed this so called "non-standard issue" two times and why should I be penalized for it?? Also, I brought the car in the Saturday prior to this Monday, which was the 7th day of the appraisal and was ready to sell the car but your ridiculous policy got in my way of doing so. I would totally understand if the condition of the car has changed from the last two appraisals to this one, but the car WITH THE SAME EXACT CONDITION should not have additional damages or issues added to it because your employees did not do their jobs right the first two times. I asked to speak to a manage, who's name was Dan and was very rude. This guy is sitting here telling me that "I always tell people you don't want me appraising your car", I was very shocked and very disappointed to be honest. He kept mentioning how the car has been in an accident and since it has been repaired on the back side towards the bumper, the price had to be dropped by $1,000 from the previous appraisal. Again, he was telling me how the other two appraisers weren't as "experienced" as he is and they have missed that portion! Again, why is this my problem again and what should I be responsible for your employee's mistake and also be penalized by it by being deducted $1,000 from the original appraisal on the car with the same damn conditions!! Dan kept telling me that "I wouldn't call it a mistake on their end, it was more like not seeing the car thoroughly", umm sir that is exactly a mistake!!! read more
