I have bought several cars in the past and actually have streamlined the purchasing process but this time I was too busy to drive all over town to look for the "right" car. We went out and looked at few models and narrowed it down to a particular 2014 Highlander. Unfortunately the dealers we visited to test drive did not have the exact features we wanted. It was my first time working with a car broker. I didn't know what to expect much but hoped to save some dollars by letting them to negotiate on my new car. I wanted to buy a new Hyundai Palisade Elite. Cartelligent got a price quote at MSRP + $1000 and asked me to visit a dealership in my area which I've been there once before I contacted Cartelligent. In the first time when I contacted this dealership, their asking price was at MSRP + Premium Care = MSRP + $2500. So, I thought what Cartelligent got (MSRP + $1000) was not a bad deal, I could save at least $1500. But it was not the case. In the Cartelligent's qoute the Premium Care package was not included. It was just for the car and it was MSRP + $1000. I called Maria (SF Office) and explained her the situation. She asked me to leave the dealership and told me that she was going to take care of the issue. Next day, she emailed me said the issued with the dealership was taken care of and I could go to the dealership again. I did go but nothing was taken care of. The dealer was still saying that the quote Cartelligent gave me was only for the car and it was $1000 above their sale price.. Before I went to the dealership I visited two more dealerships to get a quote for the same car.. The other two dealerships also gave me the same quote .. It was MSRP.. No markups. So, the quote I got from Cartelligent was over $1000 than I was able to get from the dealers by myself even without negotiation. Instead of saving some dollars I was going to pay $1000 more if I bought it through Cartelligent. At the end of the day, I bought the car as a walk-in customer and got it at MSRP. Working Cartelligent didn't help me to to save any dollars or easy the buying process at all. I though they would find the best deal available in the entire US and bring the car to my door. Instead, I was almost going to pay $1000 more if I didn't do my homework. I hate giving businesses bad reviews but I feel that I have to share my experience with others.
