Cody's in Nazareth -- 10/10! I have to give a HUGE shoutout…read moreto a local, family-owned place that has completely changed my mind about cheesesteaks: Cody's in Nazareth! I'm originally from Michigan and moved to the area about 6 years ago. When I first got here, everyone talked about how amazing the cheesesteaks were. I tried them... and honestly, I just didn't get the hype. They were good, but nothing that made me think, "I can't wait to have that again." Then I had Cody's. And everything changed. Their cheesesteaks are HUGE. My husband and I usually split one because it's so big. We always get the OG Steak, and if we have someone joining us for dinner, we'll get a chicken one too so everyone can share. The bread is phenomenal. And the way everything is mixed together means you get cheese, onions, and perfectly cooked beef in EVERY bite. I honestly can't even put into words how good it is. And here's how I know it's really that good... Yesterday I got a cheesesteak for lunch and, for once, my husband didn't split it with me So I had half left over. Today I heated up the other half for lunch and OMG. It was STILL SO GOOD. Even reheated, it was absolutely delicious. And don't even get me started on the Asiago Ranch Fries. They are SOOOO good! Everything I've had from Cody's has been delicious, and I love that it's a local family-owned business. You can walk in and order, or order online. I usually order online for dinner, and it's always ready when I get there to pick it up. Yesterday I just walked in and ordered, and it didn't take long at all. So if you're local and haven't tried Cody's yet -- GO! And if you have tried them, you already know. 10/10 -- hands down my favorite cheesesteak in the area! Cody's, you officially converted this Michigan girl into a cheesesteak lover.

You can tell Chef Cody is a positive light and passionate about not only his craft, but also the people he serves. Brimstone here with another Tidbit in Allentown, PA! The Fearsome Four were back together again…read more.. The Food Hound Elite - Etan Wish, Luscious, Mina Sanwald and me; ole' Brim! Today we visited a tiny little place (literally) who packed powerful flavor in EVERY bite! Willy Joe's has been in business since 1945 when factories overran Allentown and business was thriving. This location was originally owned and operated by William & Josephine (hence the name Willy Joe's), and this spot was, is and always will be a name to be reckoned with! Current owner Rich and his partner bought into the establishment at some point in the eighties and opened up a second location (also in Allentown). Once Josephine was ready to retire, she invited Rich and his wife Holly to take over the spot where it all began. And so we begin... We started off simple with what locals call the Dog Everything... raw onions, mustard and home made chili sauce on a steamed bun. I'll start by saying the hot dog had the allure of a NYC dirty water dog; but without all the concern for your health! The dog was juicy, had a light crisp to the skin, and packed a really nice flavor which worked really well with all the condiments on it. Even without ketchup on it, (if I wanted the full experience from when Josephine was in charge) the flavor was bold and well blended. Now the kicker was that it'll only set you back $1.30 with EVERYTHING!!! Meanwhile, only an extra .24 cents for their special cheese! Nothing crazy, nothing fancy... just a good old fashioned tasty Hot Dog. Note: Mina says that the flavor of the special Chili sauce was enhanced while drinking the Chocolate Milk. WINNING. The next hidden treasure that we sampled was comically called the SOB... Steak On Burger (should have been for Sss' Only for Brim!). The Hounds sucked that bad boy up stat! Unreal, a cheese steak burger with banana peppers, that yummy chili, pickles, onions and their secret Steak Sauce that was BOSS - all nestled on a freshly steamed Kaiser roll! I'm naming this one my personal WIN of the day. Quickly to follow were the Chili Cheese Fries and NOTHING is better than fries that STAY crispy with all the trimmings hot and dripping on top! The cheese is off the hook; a blend of cheese whiz with some other secret cheesy ingredients - Mmm cheese! Did I say cheese? One trending topping at this spot is the delicious specialty steak sauce, this stuff is addictive... once you eat it; you just can NOT get enough! Quite literally, this BOSS of a sauce made our two cheese steaks unbelievably amazing! The Allentown Cheesesteak (I was quickly corrected that this is certainly NOT a Philly Cheesesteak) was bursting with flavor, the extra splash of chili added to the love; but the special sauce tied everything together to truly make this work. Lush claimed his favorite was the Chicken Cheesesteak which he attempted to eat right off the griddle. That sauce yet again rocked the taste buds! There was no special seasoning on the chicken; all the flavor came directly from the sauce which has been homemade here for years. We all agreed that they should bottle that sauce up and give everyone the opportunity to indulge in its awesome-sauce-ness. Lastly, we were treated to the Chili Con Carne (of which Mina grabbed a second container to go); an original recipe created by Rich's mother! Mina opted to choose the chili as her WIN for this location. The chili was smooth, meaty and offered a blend of vegetables & spices - a slight burst of 'hotness' leaves a nice taste while munching and the meat simply melts in your mouth. They let this awesome stuff simmer for a minimum of 4 to 5 hours which really makes a difference... thumbs up! Seriously, if you are looking for some fast food with history and tons of flavor... you'll need to stop by this little gem. Fast and very friendly service, fantastic food and well worth a visit! Lesson to be learned here is to never judge a book by its cover and BIG things come in small packages. This one gets the Food Hounds Seal of Approval!

My family and I have been patrons of Marinelli's in Palmer/Easton since around 2011, so writing…read morethis review honestly makes me sad. We went there for their advertised Mother's Day special dinner this year, and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a very long time. To begin with, it took roughly an hour just to receive salads -- the first course of the meal. The restaurant was clearly busy, which we expected on Mother's Day, but the service throughout the evening never recovered. It became extremely difficult to get any follow-up service at all. At one point, my wife literally had to call across the restaurant just to get someone's attention, which is something we would never normally do. The staff themselves were polite, but communication was often difficult, which made handling problems with the meal frustrating and confusing. There were also several issues with the Mother's Day promotion itself. The advertisement stated that mothers would receive a complimentary rose and appetizer, but neither mother in our party received a rose. We were also only given one printed special-menu sheet for a table of four, which made ordering unnecessarily awkward. As someone with gluten intolerance, I already understood my options would be limited, but I was genuinely shocked by the quality of the food I received. I ordered the gluten-free pasta Bolognese, and the pasta arrived visibly undercooked -- hard to cut with a fork and hard to bite into. The sauce was overwhelmingly heavy and spicy, more like an arrabbiata-style meat sauce than a traditional Bolognese. I returned the dish and instead ordered my longtime fallback choice there: a gluten-free personal pizza. Unfortunately, that was no better. By the time the pizza arrived, the rest of my party had already finished eating. The crust tasted undercooked and chalky, almost like a frozen pre-made crust that had not been properly prepared. I could barely eat half a slice, even after trying to reheat it at home later. To make matters worse, because there were no gluten-free soup or dessert options available, I effectively paid for a special dinner experience while barely being able to eat at all. The rest of my party was similarly disappointed. The desserts were underwhelming, the cheesecake portions were unusually thin, and the cannoli texture was off. What disappointed us most, however, was the response afterward. We politely spoke with the manager, whom we've known for years, hoping at least for some acknowledgment or effort to make things right after such a poor experience. Instead, we essentially received an awkward apology and no real attempt whatsoever to address the problems. I was also surprised to see the pricing discrepancies. The gluten-free personal pizza was listed online around $16, yet the dine-in price came to nearly $23 after an additional $4 pepperoni charge. When I asked why the dine-in price was higher, I was told it was to pay for the dining room redesign -- which honestly felt like a very strange explanation. I genuinely hate writing reviews like this because we have supported Marinelli's for many years and have had decent experiences there in the past. But after this Mother's Day dinner, we unfortunately left feeling ignored, overcharged, and deeply disappointed.
