The food was ready on time and hot. Every sandwich was labeled for easy designation of who got what. And a special Happy Birthday message on the guest of honors cheesesteak. So I was told so many times that this spot is THE spot to grab a cheesesteak. Naturally I had to make my way in and give it a shot. I loved the old time feel of the place and the old school style menu's and everything...this is usually a sign of really solid food to come. Unfortunately those two didn't equate here. Not bad, not what everyone said it was going to be. Honestly this just ended up being similar to a pizza shop cheesesteak. The meat was alright but pretty dry, definitely could have used more cheese. The rolls were okay...reminded me of frozen amoroso rolls you get from a broadliner like US Foods. I think people partially love these because they're quite large and partially due to nostalgia from it being a spot they've eaten their whole lives. Certainly wouldn't say it sucked, but it was only okay. I may give them another shot sometime, but it was slow the day I went and plenty of people working so I can't imagine a scenario where I go back and get one so much better. read more

A solid 3! Was really looking to get a cheesesteak in PA and here for college softball playoffs. This was highly recommended by another family from Jersey that know this town pretty well. Street parking In a residential location and it's in a converted house. Small but decent. Really nice staff that was overstaffed by far for late lunch in my opinion but they were really characters and it was fun to watch them and get a feel for the people of this town! We ordered about $50,00 worth of food to be delivered at 6:00 in the evening. It was right on time. The food was left outside our front door, which was a surprise. We have ordered several times since the new owners took over. Sadly, we have noticed consistent decrease of consisting and quality. Orders are incorrect, today ordered a large pierogi and received 2. The fries have changed, and pickles on the cheesesteak are very thick, ordered extra and may have received 3 on a jumbo. It's extremely disappointing as it was stressed customers wouldn't see change. Ive called each time to bring the disappointment directly to the workers/managers, but driving back 20min to get the right amount of pierogi's isn't worth the gas. Just wish there was pride remaining in making sure the customer gets exactly what they order and checking the order to ensure that is the case. read more

Cheesesteaks were fairly standard as far as Lehigh Valley Cheesesteaks go. I would have liked more cheese and have it distributed throughout the sandwich. I feel like it was only on the bottom of the cheesesteak. If I'm in the Moravian College area it's not a bad place to grab a CS, but it's not a cheesesteak destination like SMP Mini Mart in Whitehall for example. read more

Today was probably the last time I'll ever order from this place again, the prices have increased basically on everything , and the food that I ordered today put me over the edge!!! Decent steak and hoagie / sub place. VERY reasonable. NO FRILLS. It's great for a quick bite and you'll have a few bucks left over in your pocket. They're pretty quick too. They do make steaks "Lehigh Valley" style if you will and put tomato sauce and pickles on them, which is fine. If you like the Philly style more and want prov or wiz, you might have to ask as I haven't seen that there, but they might. When I get a sub / steak I do really measure a lot by the bread, and they typically have a nice soft and crusty roll. One guy I go with asks for extra Mayo because he loves the taste (I suspect it's extra heavy mayo)...but kids enjoy everything here too. Nothing is over spiced or too salty. It's mild tasting. It's worth a stop for sure and you'll be satisfied. read more

Holy crap! What a great choice! I found this place while walking the neighborhood. Super super friendly and gracious. Busy on a Saturday at 5 30, but they KNOW how to keep it moving. The food is good. I only "like" cheesesteaks in general, so I'm no expert, but the bread was crunchy and the toppings were perfect. Fries were golden and crispy. Okay, so this was my first real deal east coast cheesesteak (unless you count the one I got from Wawa - which I now know sucked). So I decided it was time to complete my girl scouts official PA badge. I've been to the Wawa, I'm officially a Yuengling fan, I love the special dark pretzels, now I needed a real cheesesteak. My husband and I wandered into Carl's around 3 pm on a Saturday. Almost every booth was occupied, a little surprising since it was such an awkward time. We placed our order with the friendly clerk behind the meat case. Saturday was a good day for a giant cheesesteak with pickled peppers, a regular sweet Italian sausage sub, and an order of regular curly fries. Our order was called out by the clerk and my husband walked to the "pick up" sign and paid for and received our order. I'm not gonna lie, I loved it. The cheesesteak automatically comes with marinara sauce as well as pickles... Next time I'll skip on doubling up pickled items on my sandwich. The cheesesteak does not have cheese whiz, to my delight, but hey - I was willing to do the full deal. The cheese is probably a mozzarella or possibly a provolone. The bread is perfect! I was worried my sandwich would fall apart or have soggy bread, it absolutely didn't. My husband also really enjoyed the cheesesteak, but liked the Italian sausage sandwich more! Note: the fried onions in this place are not deep fried, think non-breaded pan-fried. So, I'm not a huge fan on the interior nor the way the sandwiches looked... But neither of those things will stop me from eating here again. Guilt is probably the only thing stopping me from eating lunch here every single day. Carl's looks like a regular hangout for Moravian College students, about 50% of the customers were sporting Moravian shirts. read more

Since my initial review I've eaten here a few more times and overall things definitely get an A+ for consistency. The fries have been good, the cheese has been more prevalent while the roll is still the star of the show. The only two things that keep this place from being a five star review for me are that number one the parking around the place is atrocious and number two a lot of times they tell you 10 minutes only to take closer to 15-20 if they are busy and there really is nowhere to wait as the inside is normally very busy. read more

Wow, wow, wow. Today our EMS crew stopped here for lunch. This has to be, by far, the best place we've eaten and just can not beat the prices. The food was made fresh, in front of us, the fries are amazing, the service is fast and the people there are friendly. Even the other patrons are absolutely friendly.
