I've been driving by this cool looking spot for months so today I decided to give it a try. Ordered a few "California burgers" with cheese and some cheese fries. It may have been a little busy so they forgot the onions on my California burgers. The buns could've been fresher because they felt and tasted a little on a dry side, even broke apart easily. The service was reasonably quick although I was skipped over by a guest. The ambience was typical for a fast food joint. Drink selection is limited. I did enjoy their vanilla shake. read more

Read the reviews and almost didn't go. Not the best chili dog but very tasty and neat. Smelled the bacon upon entering so I got a bacon cheeseburger. It was just right. Now the fries are where our meal shined. Had to go in for a second order. They were so soft inside. Almost mashed potato soft with the perfect crispy shell. Richard's was the ultimate in basic hamburgers, cheeseburgers, Hot dogs, cheesesteaks, French fries. Soft ice cream. Ihad been going to Richard's many years. Prices have gone up like everywhere else The quality has gone down!! Unfortunately, they have cut down on the sizes of their steak sandwiches, The rolls got shrunken down to 3/4 of the size of the originals. It's like all the other original places that had great food and a good reputation, But it seems like no one is sticking to the original formulas that make people want to come back. I've been going to Richard's since I was a kid. Always loved it. It's become pricey over the years and the service isn't the same. Often order 3 hot dogs and get 2, coke with no ice and get ice, overdone fries. Depends who is working. If some of the older crew is working, it's better. Only stopped for ice cream. Parking was an issue due to overcrowding from business next door. Owners frustrated, rude to customers. They need signs posted for their restaurant parking spots and enforcing legally not by threatening people with flattened tires if they're parked too long. I did not grow up in the area and the only reason I know about this place is because of my boyfriend who remembered years ago that his mom liked the milkshakes.... One day while we were in the area we stopped and I'm so glad we did. It is a little "hole in the wall" place but the food is excellent, the people are friendly (hey boss man) and the black raspberry shake is like no other. Burgers are cooked to order on an old school flat top grill. The buns are steamed and slathered with ketchup and mustard. The onions are the finest of fine chopped. My boyfriend was having a rough night at work and called me to grab him a few cheeseburgers for when he gets off because he has been craving Richard's. I called Richard's last night around 8:30 pm to ask what time they close as Google isn't always 100% accurate. The woman on the phone told me 9:00 pm. I arrived at 8:45 pm to find the employees sweeping and mopping the floor. I approached the door, and it was locked so I motioned to the employees. They motioned back that they were closed. If you close at 9:00 pm, the door says 9:00 pm, Google says 9:00 pm, and the woman on the phone said 9:00 pm, why are the doors locked at 8:45? Why are the employees sweeping and mopping at 8:45? If you want to lock up and clean at 8:45, I suggest you change your closing time on Sundays to 8:30. This was extremely frustrating and definitely turned me off to this establishment. read more

Stopped for lunch on the way to a service call. Grabbed the cheese steak, easy on the sauce with pickle. Great roll, just the right amount of meat & sauce, wrapped in foil paper. Worst experience I have had at any ice cream place in the Lehigh Valley. We got there and were not greeted just asked "What do you want? We only have chocolate ice cream" so my friend ordered a chocolate milkshake and then went to pay and he said cash only. She did not have cash and he pointed at the ATM. It's a simple hotdog stand with burgers , fries shakes and things like that and it's cheaply priced. However it is cash only, but they have an atm inside Incase you forget. There is something about the soft yet crispy hamburger buns that I love at Richards, although my wallet feels they are WAY overpriced. This place I enjoy greatly, and is known throughout the area. You will see cars packed in the lot, and a very unorganized line of people ordering food....that is just the way it is and always has been. Accept it and enjoy the fact that you are a part of the icon. If there were such a think as a Dairy Bar Ranking List, this one would be near the top. Just went to Richard's Drive In A.k.A- Greasy Dicks!! My family goes here frequently and I happen to surprise my love with a Banana Split and while waiting an older women (Employee) is outside doing the garbage emptying the cans and putting new trash bags in. Ok no issue right!! WRONG she comes in and starts flipping burgers on the grill without washing her hands then returns back outside to finish emptying more garbage cans. Never going again!! If you want great customer service and your order correct, do not go here. If I could give it zero stars I would. Not sure if ownership changed, but the management sure did. Instead of correcting an order or apologizing, the management here actually says "well, we do have high school kids working here". Richard's has a great quick eats menu - dogs, burgers, cheesesteaks, cones, sundaes, fries, etc. The owner of Richard's used to work for Jim's Doggie Shop & "borrowed" their dog w/ everything recipe from Jimmy's (yellow mustard, chopped raw onions, & fresh dill pickle slice). Their cheesesteaks are pretty good as are their burgers. Their shakes are GREAT. If you enjoy eating @ Spot Drive-In (aka The Spot) up on Hecktown Rd in Bethlehem, then you're going to LOVE Richard's. Everything is just a little bit better here (esp the dogs!). This is a great place to go w/ the kids for a quick treat, or to share a big shake w/ the one you adore while sitting on the benches on a hot summer day. read more

I'll start with this - we each ordered a small cone - but were shocked by how small the served cone was! It was, like, a "kiddie cone" - and priced @ $3.10. Absolutely my favorite place to eat ever! They have the best Ice cream and the best food. The only down side is they only take cash, wishing they would move to the modern word and let you just use your credit card. The newer workers aren't that great either, I get the job doesn't pay great but I wish they would do a better job training. But it's still my favorite place to eat. read more

I really do not understand the hype. I worked here for a short period and its pedestrian. The perogies are Mrs. T's fried in lard. The fries are pretty good as are the dogs.
