    Where is the extra

I picked up our pre-ordered thanksgiving dinner today. This is the third year we have ordered the whole dinner. To say I am disappointed is speaking loosely! The portion sizes like everything in the world have decreased. But decreased is an understatement. Last year I ordered 2 meals and extra gravy which cost about $100 this year I ordered extra turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and stuffing which all cost me $150. I was so saddened to see there was barely enough food for my 2 person Thanksgiving. This was a blatant rip off. I will never, and I mean never give another dollar of my hard earned money into this business. It's so sad bc I like to support local business but this is one that I will make sure to tell my friends never to visit!! Shame on you!! This is not enough let alone extra!!

Cheesesteaks and the french fries are top tier! Great spot to stop inside for a quick lunch.

Got our Thanksgiving order wrong. Wouldn't fix it. Charged a fortune, and then was nasty to me. I'll never ever go back.

I first found Giacomo's when I moved from Jersey to the Lehigh Valley more than 20 years ago. Long…read morebefore the sons of the original owner opened the Market and Grill in College Hill. Raised in Brooklyn, NY for 20 years, my expectations were low. The old man closed his store and retired and I discovered the tradition moved forward in the new College Hill store. The original Giacomo's was not a grill, but the old man (whose name escapes me), knew how to make sausage. Imported cheeses and olives with bread brought in from NYC made this a no brainer for folks like me. The old man couldn't retire and he came in just to make the sausage - of which the thin (pictured) parsley and cheese sells out the same day quite often. My favorite - though the other varieties are top notch too. I heard he still makes the sausage today but I can't confirm or deny that. Having moved to Naples, FL and then Myrtle Beach, SC - I had long forgotton Giacomo"s. Now back in PA (Allentown), I recently wanted good ravioli. The company that make the best ravioli in the world is Pastosa's. I went to their website and saw they opend a bunch of stores in both NY and NJ. I had just about talked myself into an hour or more ride when I found they also sold at select retailers. Wouldn't you know Giacomo's is one of them. My car drove itsel to Giacomo's and I got a box of the large ravioli, a bag of home made meatballs, and a qusrt of homeade tomato sauce. OMG - Pastosa still make the best ravioli in the world. And Giacomo's seel the full line including a bunch of ravioli varities, stuffed shells, manicoti and more.Of course I picked up some Italian specialties along the way while there. HEAVEN! Don't go hungry and bring plenty of money - because it's easy to drop a hundred dollars there and you'll have ZERO buyers remorse. Check out their website ba cause this review just scratches the surface of all the authentic Italian delicacies they have. Don't forget Junior's Cheescake - Simply The Best! I did not have the pleasure of going to Krause's deli before three weeks ago. I did not know you…read morecould dine in and that the place was much larger than you think. In any event I perused the deli area and was very happy to discover an old style deli within my reach. After two local grocery stores with delis' have been gone from this town for several years the only place I thought you could at least get decent deli was Shoprite. Now I have no problem with ShopRite except to say it is always busy and over crowded. Yes you can use the app providing it works and order ahead. Their deli is very well stocked and their products are just fine. But I sometimes long for the days I could just run to the deli and pick up good lunch meats etc and come home where we would make our own sandwiches along with various salads. But walking into Krause's was a delight. Now, I must admit I was reluctant after seeing some of there prices. But I have to admit the value was still there if you looked. I got two jars of various jarred vegetable salads. I thought over priced until I got them home and realized they were stuffed to the top and were two pounds a piece. Personally my opinion is the value was quite worth it. I would rather have a little less of quality than more of something I didn't quite enjoy. Since then I have gone to get some of their specialties homemade soup, perogogies and stuffed cabbage to name a few. Let's not mention the potato pancakes. My mother used to make them with me at her side grating the potatoes and onions with our old grater. We didn't have the equipment then so everything was done by hand. As my knuckles can attest to. It took a long time to grate the potatoes and raw onions with tears running down your face. Then it took my mother a couple of hours frying them over the stove two at a time. It was hot intensive work. But, oh was it worth it. Krause's potato pancakes made me long for the days I spent with my mother.

Had such a delicious lunch today. Everything was homemade. I've only been there every Christmas…read moretime since they opened to buy Kielbasa but never sat down to eat before.
