While in Pennsylvania I came across Vassi's Drive in where there's gyros and Philly cheesesteak in the restaurant on the back and an Ice cream store on the front. Although I didn't get to try the ice cream I did opt in for a gyro. The order took a while to come out, but was hot and the Taziki sauce was seasoned well, but they could put a little more on the gyro. Also, the meat was sliced a little too thin, which made it a little dry once they put it on the grill. If I returned to Vassi's it would be to try the Philly cheesesteak and the ice cream because the Gyro was not a favorite at this location.. read more

Recommended to stop here for lunch before heading to the Lost River Caverns which is 5 minutes away. They don't have a website and the menu online shows limited offerings. I made sure to take and post their current menu so you can see all that they offer. Seems like a family operation and they were so sweet and hardworking. The food was all really good and fresh! Their homemade falafels were excellent and their burgers were local beef and compared to shake shack quality. I saw that they had a spit for those who ordered gyros. The hersheys hard ice cream was also a lovely touch to the local community. The only thing I'll say is that their portions are smaller -- so if you have a big appetite, no judgment in ordering two burgers. Plenty of parking in their lot. Loved it here! read more

This place is a joke and over rated. My daughter and I ordered 2 scoops of ice cream each for $11. The lil type Styrofoam cups came out half full with barely a scoop. So hard to order ice cream as well such a struggle to get ice cream ordered. Do not come to this place. read more

This place just has a cool greasy spoon feel to it and I totally love it. Everything we ate was just absolutely delicious and cooked to order. I highly recommend this place and will be coming back to try some desserts for sure. FYI this isn't McDonalds so don't expect food quickly but they def do their best to get your food to you asap. read more

2 soft serve sundae's, 6.70 each. I understand there's tax but the bill was 15.10. I'm no genius but they overcharged us. Made one sundae and I asked for a lid. As she was putting the lid on she said sorry we're out of the right size lids and proceeded to put a to small lid in my ice cream. Made the second one and said we're having trouble finding whipped cream. While they searched the first sundae turned into soup. They couldn't find any whipped cream so oh-well, we're out of luck. 15.10 for a bowl of soupy ice cream and an unfinished sundae. Sorry Vassie's, you lost customers today. read more

I was traveling for a wedding and looking for a quick eatery. I saw the reviews on this location and felt it was worth a shot. The building is that old school run down spot so I knew I like it. Ordering was easy, food was quick. Fries were really good. Great flavor. Gyro was average. It's coming from my Greek heritage so I have standards lol. The fried fish sandwich my wife had was really good. Better than my gyro. I would come back for that fish. My son also enjoyed the fries. The location def needs some love and care. Its worn down. I likely won't return to this area anytime soon but I strongly suggest making a trip to this location. Fish sandwich is a definite try and the fries are awesome. read more

I stopped here for lunch while I'm vacation cuz my wife was really interested in the police. Is right off the interstate and has a decent sized parking lot so it was easy to get to and parking was no problem. We ordered inside and our food came out fairly quickly. We've gotten to California burgers, and a side of cheese fries with chili. I thought the burgers were really good and the cheese fries were great and all I could think about was do they sell the chili as a side to just eat on its own. The staff here was super friendly and they brought the food outside to you if you were waiting there. My wife said it reminded her like a Stewart's root beer place. Outdoor seating you can likely eat your car no one's going to stop you and I'll walk up the window to order. All in all it was a great place to stop for lunch and I wouldn't hesitate to stop again if I was passing by. read more

We came here for lunch with my two young kids after visiting Lost River Caverns and it was great! The burgers were super tasty and my husband LOVED the gyro. Not fancy - it is an old-style counter with outside tables and benches - but the food is good. The 6 oz. burger I had was done well and flavorful. The French fries were amazing - fried to just the right crispness. I also had the gyro, which was very good. It had a little more sauce than I would like, but was a winner. This food was delicious, we had the two burgers with fries. The burgers were cooked with all the toppings, ketchup, pickles, minced onions and the french fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had the gyro, stuffed with lamb, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions, and tzatziki sauce, also delicious. Cute little corner place, good size parking lot, front had counter takeout and seats outside. While placing the order we noticed how clean the cooking area was inside and well organized. We were on a pretty long trip from Massachusetts then to Pittsburgh and finally back to Tennessee and we were needed a break and hungry so we started scouring Yelp. This place jumped out with some interesting comments and it's easy on and off at exit 67 (Bethlehem/Hellertow) of I-78 with easy parking so it was time to give it a shot. It was quickly obvious that it was a great choice!! It's kinda part 50's diner, part greasy spoon and a little Mom & Pop. It's plastic wire baskets and wax-like paper and lots of smiling faces and buzzing conversation. It's a small bustling dining area that's got some really interesting collection of historical pictures of Hellertown but if it's nice weather there's some semi-comfy looking picnic table choices for an outdoor dining experience. I immediately recognize a Greek influence splashed with a bottle Philadelphia that I know is probably going to be my kind of fusion, and I was right. Everything arrivedchot and fresh .. cheese steak hoagie is very good, perogies very nice, gyro is BIG and authentic, and the burgers on both buns and on pitas, big portions of crispy fries and onions with an assortment of other different sides ... this is really good stuff. There's lots more choices like Berk hot dogs with sauerkraut, salads, more nice sides plus they have Hershey's (of course) hand packed and soft ice cream. It's good for taking a break on a trip, for a quick bite or a sit down family outing and ther's plenty of choices to satisfy everybody in your crew! (maybe not the vegetarians ;-) By the way despite the location (high traffic) the prices are reasonable and definitely a good value. The staff is friendly and are visibly eager to please and to get it right.
