Nice texture, fluffy and light. Slight crisp from being fried. In love with the flavor options, I'm a big fruit fan and the tropical themed flavors are unique. The mango was definitely top tier! Churro was also a favorite. I was a little disappointed with the guava cream, a little light in flavor for my taste but still good. I like that you can customize the donut to an extent, able to choose the outer dusting for your donut. I wish I went full glutton and tried more flavors!! $2 and some change not bad for a non-basic donut. I've been to other trendy donut spots that horribly overcharge! After so many suggestions, I was finally able to find a minute and stop in to Aloha Jay's in Hellertown. I did not get the chance to meet Jay, but the girl at the counter was very friendly and understanding when I said I want a breakfast sandwich and I don't want to have to try and pronounce it . So this sandwich is ... really friggen good. Creamy scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, scallion, and a hash brown on a Malasada with sriracha aioli and a sweet cream drizzle. This was absolutely the creamiest breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The texture of the eggs was awesome, and the bacon being chopped up throughout was really nice because it was far easier to eat than having to chew through full slices and break them up. The sriracha adds a really pleasant dimension and flavor and the Malasada was a nice change of pace, no matter how much I love a fresh Kaiser roll. I'll definitely be back to try the sweet Malasada's and the burger they're doing for lunch now but I will say for now that Aloha Jay's absolutely - Didn't Suck! read more

Placed an order for pickup online using their website (they have a rewards program). They have a parking lot with plenty of spaces which looks to be shared between 3 places. Did not have to wait for my food at all, everything was ready upon entering the store. I placed an order for a Mana Jr meal set w/ Jay's sauce, regular Kona iced coffee, and a mixed mini malaysada set with the chocolate dobash and snow cap cream dipping sauces. The bun was not overly sweet and the burger was delicious, fries were well seasoned but not too salty and the sauce reminds me a little in and out's. The dipping sauces were also not too sweet so I felt like I could indulge Will definitely return to try their other mixed flavors of malaysadas and the breakfast sandwich when I get a chance. Visited on a Sunday morning. Friendly service, fair prices, sweet lady near the entrance was making sure people had a Hawaiian lei if they wanted one too (also offered a seat to me in case I wanted one while I was waiting for my order). I like that it had a fun, original concept. I had a chocolate cream filled malasada (the one I chose tasted kind of like a Boston cream donut with chocolate cream with sugar costing instead of a plain/glaze imo, but maybe a very slightly different texture to the donut than I'm used to). Have been hearing about this place for awhile, finally had a chance to try them out and it was worth it. I ordered the mana jr, alpha fries and the aloha jays punch. The burger was awesome wish I woulda got the mana burger(2 patties vs the jrs 1)they use the same donut base so it was fluffy. Shoestring fries were good wished I got more but $2 for a small is very reasonable. Also got a few donuts, strawberry creme was my kids fav. I'm down for ube anything but unfortunately, their ube malasadas were out of rotation when I FINALLY made my way to Aloha Jay's. Instead, they had matcha which is always a close second favorite flavor so I got that. That, and the chocolate covered banana cream pie. The latter was not the neatest to eat but it was DELICIOUS!! I mean D E L I C I O U S! The banana didn't taste fake and the chocolate was not overbearingly sweet. So good! The matcha, however, was a HUGE disappointment. Like I said, I love matcha but this was awful! It didn't taste grassy or earthy at all. Instead, it had a fishy flavor to it. I couldn't understand it. It was NOT good. Overall, the donuts themselves were GREAT! Warm, with a nice chew, and a good size for the price. I think next time, I'm gonna get them NOT filled with another chocolate covered banana cream pie malasada to go with it. The place is cute and bright and feels islandy in the middle of Hellertown. There is no indoor seating but they have some seat out front. No bathrooms to wash your hands of the stickiness so bring wipes. My wife and I tried this place today for the first time. Wow! The donut itself was amazing. This is a place where I would perfectly happy ordering a plain donut. I ordered a donut filled with chocolate that tasted like a melted Hersey bar. On top was crushed up Kit Kat pieces and caramel. It was phenomenal! My wife got a sweet, salty, tangy one. I don't know what it was coated in, but it was tasty. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. The donut was cut open, stuffed with eggs, cheese, and some sort of sauce. It was wonderful. This is a must stop if you are in the Allentown area. The malasadas are delicious--made fresh and served warm. The dough is very light . Was I shamelessly eating one as soon as I got in my car, topping all over my face and running down my hand? You bet I was! Were the people in the car next to me doing the same thing? Yes, they were! Was someone else standing outside of the building gulping down a malasada as soon as she rounded the corner? Yep! I think that tells you just about everything you need to know. Jean offers leis to customers when they come in, as a way to add to the Hawaiian experience, which is the theme of their business. And Jean is so friendly and helpful to customers. Didn't get lei'd but I did get to meet Mama Jean who was pretty darn amazing. She was ready for a laugh and in the short amount of time I was there, we had plenty of them. I had a plain Malasadas which was basically just warm bread but it was well-baked and very hearty. I'd recommend getting something with a little sugar on it, but I am not complaining! Excited to try the new minis which just launched and the choice of dippers was limited. I was hoping that after a month the consistency of the dough would be less "chewy" and a bit lighter. Visited for my first time, it's a cute small shop, the baristas were polite. The owner (I believe it was the owner) was also very nice and gave me a free doughnut, which was delicious. Different than a regular doughnut it's very airy almost if a croissant and a doughnut mixed. I also got a Carmel iced latte, it was just average. Went here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I think the filling flavors vary depending on when you visit, we got four malasadas but two stood out: mango filled sugarcoated and a rice pudding filled cinnamon and sugarcoated. Dough is chewier than a traditional donut and the day after malasada we had was underwhelming, however, I would try more flavors as they are amazing when fresh. 5 stars all the way! I frequent Hawaii often due to family, and the malasadas at Leonard's and Penny's in Honolulu are no comparison to this place. Leonard's in Honolulu is a staple of the island and they definitely produce a good product. But Aloha Jay's far exceeds Leonard's in my opinion. The consistency in texture, taste and fillings far exceed anything I ever had on the island. And as a coffee drinker the Kona Coffee is off the chain. You will not be disappointed. We tried 4 different malasadas. All were fresh, warm, fillings were delicious. You can have with or without sugar coated. I had iced coffee which was good too. The people serving are friendly and they serve fast so didn't had to wait. It has its parking space. It has access ramp, and a nice waiting area out, to wait or wanna have a quick bite.
