Cozy is an understatement, but no wait for 12:00 Sunday
Steve A.

West Side of the moon, the corner cafe you have to seek to find. It's got a neighborhood feel, two rooms, one waitperson for eight tables, so a little less attention than ideal. Running around constantly, poor person. And if a ninth table shows up, it's wait or leave. Poor cafe. Definitely Greek here - based on the music showing on the TV - so you can call this a diner if you want. Also quite a bit of menu, plus a whole bunch of specials, so that took me some time to process. Expect a wait for your food, on the order of a half hour, while it's freshly prepared. But after we sat down a group of five got up, the tables were split, cleaned, and the next pair to sit down got their food before us. So that's an automatic deduction. Chicken and waffles: chicken is definitely frozen cutlet, not fresh breaded. Why did you dust my chicken in powdered sugar? It's not dessert. People were waiting in front of us while there was an uncleared table, again due to lack of waitstaff. The ones waiting agreed this is an issue. Verdict: I've had better food, better service, and better ambiance at many other diners. I think this place is in over their heads, trying the best they can, but not making it (a theme on this corner, Google Street View suggests). The number of people who gave up trying to wait for a table is a sign. Hopefully this review can help them change for the better, but if they can't turn it around, I'm sorry :( P.S. Bathrooms have motion sensors. If you're in the stall too long, it all goes dark! (Swinging the door did the trick)

Breakfast sandwich (egg and cheese)

Got takeout breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Charming interior and very friendly and attentive staff. Great experience!

One of the best breakfast spots in the Lehigh Valley! Stopped in & had a latte with the south of the border omelette & the chocolate chip pb pancakes - BANGIN! The breakfast potatoes are some of the best I've had. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet environment for a great meal with kind service. 10/10!!!

My family from WV saw this place on TikTok and had to check it out when they came to visit! The service was great and food was delicious! I will for sure be coming back!

This was always a spot I walked by but never stopped, but after moving here and giving it a shot, I wish I could go back in time. Whether you order a hot sandwich smothered in sauce or a classic cold sub, you're guaranteed a loaded, consistently well-made, delicious sandwich. The attached photos are from today's meal, which was very quick, looked amazing, and tasted even better. We had two of the munchies, the Spicy Garlic Pizza Bites and the Fried Ravioli. Both were tasty and affordable. For the sandwiches, today I got The Balboa (1/2) and my boyfriend got The Italiano (whole). The chicken in The Balboa were delicious, traditional Italian style breaded cutlets. Despite being covered in their sauce and cheese, both the roll and the breading on the cutlets remained perfectly crispy. The bread is always great, and today I opted for the garlic bread semolina which added a great flavor for this sandwich. I got two thumbs up from my boyfriend about The Italiano, I couldn't really get a word from him while he was eating because he was loving this sandwich so much. I asked him if it was "better than Wawa", and if looks could kill, I wouldn't be writing this right now. His face said, "you didn't even just ask me that". Besides our successful meal today, I also wanted to share an amazing service experience I had at Ciao last week. The shop was packed, and I ended up waiting around 20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't think much of it to be honest...Given how busy they were, the employees were clearly focused, working very hard, and turning out one amazing looking sandwich after another. When my order was ready, the owner (or manager) handed me my bag, apologized for the wait, and insisted I take a free dessert from their fridge. I hadn't complained and honestly didn't mind waiting, but that gesture spoke volumes. Some might see waiting as an inconvenience worth some sort of refund/reward, but given all of the circumstances I noted earlier, I see that as a sign of a small business thriving. So, to me, this gesture showed me how much they truly value their customers and how committed they are to creating a positive experience worth returning to. The fact that they went above and beyond only confirmed why Ciao has quickly become one of my favorite local spots. And can't forget... the cheesecake was also great! So whether you're ordering eat in and sitting outside enjoying Downtown, doing take out for pick up, or ordering to-go from online, I highly recommend Ciao for a tasty sandwich, great side options, and wonderful service.

Two sandwiches, fries and two drinks were over $50. The staff seemed to be walking around like zombies and the food took forever to come out. Not the best experience, and I'd probably look elsewhere if I was going for a sandwich for lunch.

I first found Giacomo's when I moved from Jersey to the Lehigh Valley more than 20 years ago. Long…read morebefore the sons of the original owner opened the Market and Grill in College Hill. Raised in Brooklyn, NY for 20 years, my expectations were low. The old man closed his store and retired and I discovered the tradition moved forward in the new College Hill store. The original Giacomo's was not a grill, but the old man (whose name escapes me), knew how to make sausage. Imported cheeses and olives with bread brought in from NYC made this a no brainer for folks like me. The old man couldn't retire and he came in just to make the sausage - of which the thin (pictured) parsley and cheese sells out the same day quite often. My favorite - though the other varieties are top notch too. I heard he still makes the sausage today but I can't confirm or deny that. Having moved to Naples, FL and then Myrtle Beach, SC - I had long forgotton Giacomo"s. Now back in PA (Allentown), I recently wanted good ravioli. The company that make the best ravioli in the world is Pastosa's. I went to their website and saw they opend a bunch of stores in both NY and NJ. I had just about talked myself into an hour or more ride when I found they also sold at select retailers. Wouldn't you know Giacomo's is one of them. My car drove itsel to Giacomo's and I got a box of the large ravioli, a bag of home made meatballs, and a qusrt of homeade tomato sauce. OMG - Pastosa still make the best ravioli in the world. And Giacomo's seel the full line including a bunch of ravioli varities, stuffed shells, manicoti and more.Of course I picked up some Italian specialties along the way while there. HEAVEN! Don't go hungry and bring plenty of money - because it's easy to drop a hundred dollars there and you'll have ZERO buyers remorse. Check out their website ba cause this review just scratches the surface of all the authentic Italian delicacies they have. Don't forget Junior's Cheescake - Simply The Best! The good: - There was plenty of meat and it was seasoned well. - There was plenty of cheese and it was Cooper Sharp. - The roll had a nice consistency and flavor. - The girl working the front was friendly. - They had a massive American flag over the register. 'MERICA BABY The not so good: - The 12" steak and a bottle of propel cost $19. I have zero issues paying for good food, but I did find that a bit steep. - The onions were sliced red onion that they sautéed. Wasn't really a "bad" thing, just unexpected. Still tasted fine. - While there was plenty meat, it was packed to the middle and the ends had a lot less. I know that's a bit nit pickey, but it is a pet peeve of mine. All in all I really enjoyed the steak and I'd get it again, but due to the price I wouldn't rush back in or go out of my way necessarily to get back there. I do know food costs are up for everyone, not just consumers, I just figured this steak was bare minimum a $16 steak (if the propel was $3). That puts the cost in the ballpark of Mercatino Italiano and Mercatino's steak is definitely in another class imo.
