    Cheese Steak Sandwich
    John S.

Cheesesteak was good. Order at counter & they let you know when ready. Took about 10 minutes. Inside gas station with tables and chairs outside if you don't want to eat inside.

I will be updating this review to reflect a burger I had here that was incredible but this review alone is based on the cheesesteak. The cheesesteak here comes standard with American Cheese, Onions, and Peter Luger sauce. I am normally not a fan of any sauces on my cheesesteak but I truly enjoy Luger sauce so I decided to give this a try in the way they suggested it. The woman who took the order was friendly. This is a gas station/food locale with beer taps inside and cans for sale as well. A few tables, and a lot of takeout business. So to start I will say that the roll they use for this cheesesteak is very good for a steak. I'm not sure where they source them from but I enjoyed that a lot. The steak seems to just be a frozen chip steak which is alright, many places use a product like that. This is a personal preference thing, but I believe this steak was chopped up a bit too much, and there was American just laying on the bun un-melted which was upsetting as well. I actually found the Luger sauce to be good on this, and I even added pickles to it which I never do. I know it's a big valley thing to do sauce/pickles so maybe the Luger sauce and pickles went well together for that reason...but I enjoyed that. That's really it though. I wanted to love this steak, and it certainly wasn't bad, but I think I'll probably just be sticking to the burgers here from now on. This place is awesome lunch or dinner sandwiches, cheesesteaks, hand cut French fries. This is a really casual dining option of 78 at a gas station. You can sit inside or outside. You order at the counter and your food comes out hot and fresh. The staff is amazing, friendly and efficient! I love hoagies, smash burgers and especially hot cheeseballs! Def a must. Only downfall is it's closed on Sundays.

This place is a great stop for my road trips to New Jersey. I usually order the fried mushrooms and onion rings for snacking on the road. Have sat and ate a few times and food is always good. Staff is great.

This place rules! The burger was fantastic and the beer selection is as well. Had a 3 Floyd's Zombie Ice with my cheeseburger.

Came here due to the pretty good reviews on yelp. The location is off the highway attached to a gas station a little sketchy in my opinion, so if you're looking for a sit down restaurant with a waiter-this isn't the spot but they do have a wide selection of craft beers, bar seats and table seats as well. Ordered 3 burgers for myself and family. Great homemade burgers. I had the steakhouse burger which was great, sourdough bread was toasted. Cheese fries were also delicious, fresh cut potatoes which is a plus! My family and I enjoyed the food, if we were back in the area we may come back.

Killer sandwiches ... great quality, but bring your wallet - pricey, but totally worth it. Check it out.

I first found Giacomo's when I moved from Jersey to the Lehigh Valley more than 20 years ago. Long…read morebefore the sons of the original owner opened the Market and Grill in College Hill. Raised in Brooklyn, NY for 20 years, my expectations were low. The old man closed his store and retired and I discovered the tradition moved forward in the new College Hill store. The original Giacomo's was not a grill, but the old man (whose name escapes me), knew how to make sausage. Imported cheeses and olives with bread brought in from NYC made this a no brainer for folks like me. The old man couldn't retire and he came in just to make the sausage - of which the thin (pictured) parsley and cheese sells out the same day quite often. My favorite - though the other varieties are top notch too. I heard he still makes the sausage today but I can't confirm or deny that. Having moved to Naples, FL and then Myrtle Beach, SC - I had long forgotton Giacomo"s. Now back in PA (Allentown), I recently wanted good ravioli. The company that make the best ravioli in the world is Pastosa's. I went to their website and saw they opend a bunch of stores in both NY and NJ. I had just about talked myself into an hour or more ride when I found they also sold at select retailers. Wouldn't you know Giacomo's is one of them. My car drove itsel to Giacomo's and I got a box of the large ravioli, a bag of home made meatballs, and a qusrt of homeade tomato sauce. OMG - Pastosa still make the best ravioli in the world. And Giacomo's seel the full line including a bunch of ravioli varities, stuffed shells, manicoti and more.Of course I picked up some Italian specialties along the way while there. HEAVEN! Don't go hungry and bring plenty of money - because it's easy to drop a hundred dollars there and you'll have ZERO buyers remorse. Check out their website ba cause this review just scratches the surface of all the authentic Italian delicacies they have. Don't forget Junior's Cheescake - Simply The Best! I'll just break this down as quickly as possible. The good: - There was plenty of meat and it was seasoned well. - There was plenty of cheese and it was Cooper Sharp. - The roll had a nice consistency and flavor. - The girl working the front was friendly. - They had a massive American flag over the register. 'MERICA BABY The not so good: - The 12" steak and a bottle of propel cost $19. I have zero issues paying for good food, but I did find that a bit steep. - The onions were sliced red onion that they sautéed. Wasn't really a "bad" thing, just unexpected. Still tasted fine. - While there was plenty meat, it was packed to the middle and the ends had a lot less. I know that's a bit nit pickey, but it is a pet peeve of mine. All in all I really enjoyed the steak and I'd get it again, but due to the price I wouldn't rush back in or go out of my way necessarily to get back there. I do know food costs are up for everyone, not just consumers, I just figured this steak was bare minimum a $16 steak (if the propel was $3). That puts the cost in the ballpark of Mercatino Italiano and Mercatino's steak is definitely in another class imo.

In any event I perused the deli area and was very happy to discover an old style deli within my reach. After two local grocery stores with delis' have been gone from this town for several years the only place I thought you could at least get decent deli was Shoprite. Now I have no problem with ShopRite except to say it is always busy and over crowded. Yes you can use the app providing it works and order ahead. Their deli is very well stocked and their products are just fine. But I sometimes long for the days I could just run to the deli and pick up good lunch meats etc and come home where we would make our own sandwiches along with various salads. But walking into Krause's was a delight. Now, I must admit I was reluctant after seeing some of there prices. But I have to admit the value was still there if you looked. I got two jars of various jarred vegetable salads. I thought over priced until I got them home and realized they were stuffed to the top and were two pounds a piece. Personally my opinion is the value was quite worth it. I would rather have a little less of quality than more of something I didn't quite enjoy. Since then I have gone to get some of their specialties homemade soup, perogogies and stuffed cabbage to name a few. Let's not mention the potato pancakes. My mother used to make them with me at her side grating the potatoes and onions with our old grater. We didn't have the equipment then so everything was done by hand. As my knuckles can attest to. It took a long time to grate the potatoes and raw onions with tears running down your face. Then it took my mother a couple of hours frying them over the stove two at a time. It was hot intensive work. But, oh was it worth it. Krause's potato pancakes made me long for the days I spent with my mother.
