Cheesesteak Hoagie, Hot Dog (create your own), and fries

I LOVE Jimmy's hot dogs in the summer! Awesome hot dogs and decent fries. Love love love their soft serve. Hidden gem to find GREAT soft serve since all the ice cream places closed in Phillipsburg and Castlegates ice cream tastes different now:( but yeah awesome hot dog and ice cream spot!!:)

Yummy food! Had rootbeer float, chilli dog with cheese.. onion rings will definitely be back here!

Very cool hotdog joint on the Delaware river near the Phillipsburg/Easton free bridge. We ve been here a lot and never disappointed. Always enough parking. It could use a little more shade during the summer. One con is it's not as clean As I'd like to see. The tables and floors around the tables in the eating area needs to attention, not gross mind you, just needs attention. You can see into the cooking area which is a huge plus, it's very clean from what I could see and the staff is great! We will be back. What I forgot to mention is they give 10% off your order when you check in for the first time.

Gyro Giant!

What can I say! This place has history, this place has location, this place has hot dogs! No worries hot dogs are easy you can't miss. Have a gyro!!! The gyro was jam packed with gyro meat veggies and taziki sauce! I wasn't going to stuff myself and decided to only eat half... Yeah right!!! I sat by the river even though it was a little cool outside and I ate till the thing was gone. Come to this place and enjoy, the staff is great the owners are super nice and the location is fantastic.

I had a gyro and cheese fries from Jimmy's a few weeks ago, and I am still impressed. The pita itself is homemade and has a crispness you don't often get from a gyro. The meat itself was slightly salty but still very good. I would love to bottle the cucumber-garlic sauce (taziki?) and put it on EVERYTHING. The cheese fries were crisp, and the cheese had a soft velvety texture. Reminded me of cheez wiz and velveeta mixed together. Mmm. I will return to Jimmy's the next time the need for a wonderful gyro arises : )

The fries are excellent and I had the fried fish sandwich it was tasty and not greasy. Nice place to check out in town.

All previously frozen.

I understand that there is some type of cult following for this place. It can NOT be for the food. It must Be emotional for everyone. The milk shake was the only thing we liked. The hot dogs were cold and the "chili" obviously from a can. When we ordered onion rings and fries the girl actually took them out of the freezer right in front of us. I get when larger fast food chains use frozen but a small place like this for what they charge there is no excuse other than being lazy to use all frozen pre packaged items. Never going again.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Listen, I have no real complaints. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was…read moregood. But I am a fan of constructive criticism. I had the Gandolfi. It was delish but it could be improved with more or larger pepperonis. Also the sausage to bun ratio was off. Either make the sausage bigger or the bun smaller. Bottom line, you'll enjoy your food and beer.

The onions weren't really sautéed as much as I like either. The beans and mac were unfortunately some of the most flavorless sides I've had in a long time. The beans almost had a sour taste. If you are used to Bush's Baked Beans these aren't it for you. Tenders were ok and thank goodness the tots were right. Other than that I'll probably continue my search for a good local hot dog joint.

They picked a perfect spot in Bristol Borough that they seemed to have partnered with Naked Brewing on. If you have kids the downstairs area is ok, but with live music I had to take my son upstairs to preserve our hearing! We found parking in the large municipal lot behind the building. Upstairs we found cozier seating at a high top table with service. Downstairs I believe you have to walk up to the bar or just sit at the bar for service. I also don't believe the full beer menu is available downstairs. The menu is full of tempting toppings and styles with your choice of regular/footlong dogs, hot sausage or kielbasa. I had a hot sausage with pepper hash and coleslaw. It had a snappy skin, decent heat and was delicious when paired with the sweet coleslaw and pepper hash. My friend ordered frank and tots and reported it to be delicious and filling. My son had a regular dog and we all shared a big pretzel with beer cheese. I had an IPA named Thank Frank that was about average for a West Coast style IPA and my pal had a couple of their darker offerings that he wasn't impressed with. Our server was nice and gave a great recommendation to add the pepper hash. She wasn't the fastest at coming to check on our beers so we bailed. I had one and she never asked if I wanted another and never refilled our waters. Prices weren't too bad. I would definitely return for some more of the interesting creations on the dawg menu, but the brews are really nothing special. Good solid time here and kid friendly, not so great service or beer.

Get them loaded with homemade chili, or not, or with standard pickle wedge, mustard and chopped onions on a traditional bun, and on the right sunny day, be part of the perfect snack. Grab a bag of fresh crispy fries, sit at their picnic tables and become part of legend. A extra warm day for the end of March, and a perfect day for an up country drive, Hot Rods was the spot chosen as destination. Great choice. Owner at the grill and taking orders, assistant taking care of the deep fryer and putting meals together in bags, wife sitting nearby offering historic commentary on the institution (Giants fan who loves Saquan Barkley even on the Eagles). I ate at one of the picnic tables to take in the sun, breeze and low mountain across the road. I ate a Classic (boiled turkey dog) and Fryer (beef/pork deep oil), both with pickle wedge, chopped onions and yellow mustard). I enjoyed them both, but couldn't tell them apart. The fries were excellent, and I continued eating them long after the dogs were devoured. The joint was humming by the time I left to return south to Bucks County. An hour drive, I rolled down the window to feel the warm breeze on my face. 5 Stars for the 50 years of hot dog authenticity and the grand day they came wrapped in.

Hot Rod's does not have a Texas wiener on their menu but they have all the toppings necessary (mustard, raw onion, chili) to make one. The chili though is different from what you'd get on a Texas wiener, as there isn't as much meat. I was able to see most of the raw onion whereas they'd mostly be covered by chili on a traditional Texas wiener. I chose the beef hot dog and washed it down with their unsweetened ice tea. Everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and explained the difference between the beef hot dog (deep fried) and the turkey hot dog (boiled). There's some seating indoors (about 10 stools along a long counter) and a few picnic tables outside for dining. Pulling out of Hit Rod's can be tricky so it's best to time your departure with the traffic lights nearby.
