River Grille is a New American restaurant located on Northampton St. in Easton. It's open Monday through Thursday, 11:30 AM - 9 PM, Friday and Saturday, 11:30 AM - 10 PM, and Sunday, 4 PM - 8 PM. Reservations recommended. I'd heard nothing but glowing reviews about this place, so I was more than a little excited to experience it for myself. For appetizers, I had the chicken spring rolls, fried calamari, and lobster bisque. The spring rolls had a crisp bite with a perfect mix of napa cabbage, carrot, hoisin, and sriracha aioli. The calamari was tender, lightly breaded, and served with a zesty jalapeño aioli and marinara. The lobster bisque was rich and creamy, topped with savory lobster meat. All three were excellent! I went with the lobster papparedelle for dinner, and it was just as amazing as the appetizers! The noodles were perfectly cooked, the sherry cream sauce was flavorful, and the lobster was incredibly succulent. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. My friends tried the guinness braised short ribs and the penne alla vodka. The shorts ribs were a hit, but the penne alla vodka didn't stand out, it was just average. With so many other great options on the menu, I wouldn't recommend it. Service was great. River Grille is a great place for a meal, a drink or both. Decided to go back here since it had been awhile. We were greeted by the maître d and seated immediately. The restaurant is very inviting with a great retro feel. We were seated in the front room and brought water immediately. Next our waiter came and after some pleasant conversation, he took our drink order. He told us about the nightly specials when he brought our drinks back, which were delicious. I ordered a house salad and the Diver Scallops. The food was exceptionally prepared and scrumptious. I have been eating here for years. Always quick and friendly service. Generally easy to get a reservation and if you can score a booth relatively quiet. The back room gets loud. Food is good. But they need to update their menu. I had to stop going for awhile as I got tired of the menu. Still, a good variety of food and well presented. On the pricier side but that is how it is these days. I recommend the salmon or the tuna. Generous portions. Really you can't go wrong here. read more

Everything was delicious! The Cranberry Gimlet was so good, that I ordered a second. We started with the Pear salad and chicken egg roll. Hubby had the short rib and I had the diver scallops. I came here unexpectedly on a Friday night. I was apprehensive about getting seated quick (since I was hungry & didn't have a reservation) - but this wasn't an issue at all. My party & I were seated in a booth and our waitress was very attentive. I had the chilean sea bass, which was nice and flaky. The coconut curry sauce was a great pairing - I only wish the plating/presentation was better (it looked a little messy). We also ordered the filet mignon with asparagus & mashed potatoes. It was okay - just a little small IMO. My main critique is that our booth was underneath the AC vent. When we initially arrived, I wondered why our table and seats were wet but I attributed it to the table being recently cleaned. However, it was at the end of the meal when I looked up and saw that the AC vent was intermittently dropping water. First visit to Easton PA and this was a great choice! There are a lot of restaurants to choose from so it can be hard to pick one when you may not be coming here on a regular basis. Reading all the other Yelp reviews I had a feeling this would be a great choice for a casual lunch. They are located in the historic district, nice large space, slightly worn looking so I took 1 star away for decor/ambience. They have a full bar, beer, liquor and wine selection, the food we ordered was excellent, the restaurant was clean, has outside dining, they were very well staffed, everyone was very polite and Ava, our waitress was very nice and super-efficient! She was really accommodating and I hope the owners read this. She made everyone feel very comfortable, was genuine, interacted in our best interest and took her time. She should definitely be concerned for management if that is the path she wants to take. Prices were fair, quality of the food was high and I really did not have much to find fault with. We started with some drinks, a glass of white sangria and 2 Sunday Morning cocktails which were good. For starters we had the Apple Baby salad, Lobster Bisque soup, the spring rolls and coconut shrimp. In my opinion the salad and Lobster Bisque soups were the best. I am not a fan of fried food so the other two dishes were not my choice. Our appetizers came out very quickly, so I was glad I held off ordering the entrees. The restaurant inside was fairly empty. The outside seating was packed as it was a beautiful day and everyone wanted to watch the bike race. We were not rushed at all, although I did read another review that said they are so super-efficient that it can seem rushed. For entrees we had the Salmon, the scallops and the Sesame Tuna. I will say entrees were really great. The Sesame Tuna really stood out and was bursting with flavor. It was cooked perfectly, rare inside as expected, the wasabi mashed potatoes had great flavor and had a kick which tickled my nose. The julienne vegetables had a nice Asian flavor. River Grille was such a great restaurant I'm so happy we stopped in randomly! Kylee was our pleasant and friendly server giving great recommendations which we appreciated. Starters: fried calamari and mussels.. the sauce the mussels were soaking in was soooo delicious I recommend them highly. I didn't think they were spicy but I suppose if you have no spice tolerance then maybe they'd be considered slightly spicy but truly mild. Calamari was also really good and came with two sauces. Entrees: the crusted salmon with mushroom risotto was great because the portion was really large. The sauce was flavorful as well. Another great choice. Dessert: lava cake which takes 10-15min to bake was rich, warm, and made in house. Drinks: the ginger 75 was their take on the French 75. The ginger was not too overpowering and the martini was delicious. The cranberry gimlet was our favorite it was better than we expected! I ha r to say the staff was amazing. Our server katie was great. Service with a smile and was always there to top water off and get our food to us in a timely fashion . Now on to the good stuff. What you all waiting for. The food. We had a three course meal. I started with the friend calamari . Made to perfection. Perfectly cooked. Not tuff or gummy and just the right amount of breading which didn't take away from the calamari. The main course. I'm not even going to try and spell it. But it was pasta sausage and broccoli. It had a bit of a kick to it. Again, I couldn't complain and a good size portion. So for desert, it was a toss-up for me between the terrimisu and creme Brule. Wish I could have got both. This is a beautiful restaurant with a bar area and tables on sidewalk for outdoor dining. Everything for first lunch here was housemade, which is always impressive. Pea soup was absolutely delicious. I asked for bread to eat with soup and they brought out warm bread, which was very good. I normally don't eat much cheese, but wanted to try their housemade mozzarella cheese because my Mom used to make homemade cheese and I miss it. My best friend and newborn son came for Resturant week on Thursday for lunch and we LOVED IT. Our server was amazing and it was a nice chill vibe in the Resturant. We started with the fried calamari that came with a jalapeño aioli that was so flavorful and the coconut shrimp that had a sweet chili sauce that was so delicious! For the entree I had the pesto pasta that had shrimp and it was so creamy and tasted like the pesto was made with fresh basil that day. We met family for a early Sunday afternoon dinner. We arrive just as the restaurant open at 4 PM. The staff was friendly and attentive. Coming back to up the stars i came here with a friend for my birthday over the weekend. I love the easy online reservation capability. We arrived and were seated timely. They sat us near the bar which didn't feel too special for my birthday but no big deal. Our server was so great, friendly, accommodating- great personality. She was on top of us but not all over which I admire in a server. Most importantly they had the ribeye which I did not see on the online menu and it is my favorite, so what a great birthday surprise! The food and drink menu are wide-ranging.  Our party of 4 tried their red and white sangrias, which even the savory wine drinkers at our table liked.  Among the items we ordered: the braised chicken spring roll, fresh mozzarella, and chicken pizza.  All were very tasty and filling.  You can tell a lot of thought is put into both the ingredient combinations and the plating.  If I had to pick a favorite, it'd be the braised chicken spring roll.
