Alpha Family Restaurant at the holidays!

Great place for breakfast at better than reasonable price. I enjoy this this place with my friends. The food was excellent and I'm so happy my friend took me there. Excellent French toast and eggs and bacon.

Alpha Family Restaurant is named after the village in which it is located. It didn't even show up as "Nearby" when I did a Yelp scan. I was glad to drive by someplace as close to the local municipal court so that I knew I would have time for a quick breakfast before the morning call. Walking in from the left side facing the building, the ample dining room was to the right, and the split counter to the left. The kitchen entrance lie between the two wings of the stool sets. First impression was that a thorough cleaning would be a great idea, but this was a once in a lifetime visit, and I could overlook the back wall shelves full of who-knows-what. The one server looked to have been there for a long time, and the chef who came out of the kitchen often to deliver platters or chat with his favorite customers, was likely the owner. This morning was special because I travelled with my +1 so she could take in the beauty of the Delaware River north of Lambertville up through Frenchtown. She was duly impressed. So, we took a couple of stools at the counter, introduced ourselves to the madame of the house, and ordered French Toast, Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich on Kaiser, and Java. Our hostess assured us that they did these dishes well. Who was I to doubt? She was quite right. My French Toast was nicely caramelized with crispy edges, and totally absorbed egg. A shmear of butter and a dose of the "syrup" in those small sealed packets, and I was a happy man. The taste was very good. The sandwich looked a bit disheveled when it arrived, with the egg extending over the side of the roll, and the circumcised sausage links showing their fannies, too. Still, the bite & chew was nice; everything fresh and cooked right. We split everything, and were satisfied with our breakfast. A little elbow grease and a touch more pride in their house, and Alpha could easily earn its name.

Patty melt with fries, chicken basket with fries and slaw, chicken tenders with fries and slaw. Menu front and back.

Good food at a good price. The other patrons were locals and friendly. Our first visit.

Great portions, great service with a small town vibe. It's our favorite breakfast place in the area.

After leaving a recent review at the Father-restaurant Kabinett, it feels appropriate to do so…read morehere. This is a firmly casual atmosphere- part café, part bierhall, part grocery, and most importantly- Curated Wine Shoppe. The ambience- bloody enormous! It was an auto garage! The outdoor patio is also large- standard Bierhall bench seating or stand overlooking the river and 'Free Bridge', as the locals colloquially refer to it. Pagoda to keep the sun off. The café- standard coffee options, and a few pastries. I believe the pastries used to be done in house (a couple had Moroccan flavours), but now, done by the wonderful duet Pie+Tart. The Bierhall- firstly- they stock Ayinger. This is my favourite Braurei in Germany. Nothing pleases me more than to see several brews- especially the Brauweiß. There are about 15 beers from which to choose, most being less common/higher quality German Brews. There are also some American brews by Von Trapp in Vermont- who also focus on German styles. Good prices. Served in the proper Becher glassware- or suck on a bottle. The Grocery- focusing on Australian dry goods and some necessities. This harkens back to the old Silk Mill location- sans the candies. I've bought some higher quality spices here. THE Wine Shoppe. Since this part of the venture opened, it has become my go-to for most of my wine. He stocks wine which you will not see anywhere else. The focus is on Austrian/German, and Australian wines. Cheap to expensive. Walking the horseshoe from left to right, you start in the White Brut/Sekt, to the Grüner, to the Red /Rot Sekt. In the centre are the cheaper wines, and a good amount of Rosé. While I say cheaper, that does not mean inferior by any means. One of our household favourites has become Fritz's Rosé. I will take the time to discuss the Wines mostly- I was introduced to many Weingut here- Moric, George Breuer, Fritz and many others. The selection rotates, but there are some mainstays. Try to find the proprietor- Jason- walk the Shoppe with him and ask questions. I have never once been steered astray. The focus thankfully is the drier side of Wine- Old and New World. You will not be inundated with the same rubbish Napa Valley and PA wines other proprietors carry. This Shoppe is for those who have an Old World palette and feel the necessity to always pay restaurant premiums. Remember, at a restaurant, you are paying for the wine, plus the storage, Som, and service. You can also buy chilled wine. You can also buy wine to consume there (different list due to LCB Legalities).

Breakfast at Billy's Diner is an upscale diner experience. My husband chose this restaurant and it…read morewas an excellent choice. I order chicken and waffles. The chicken crunchy chunky breading was perfect, the waffles slightly golden. The syrup is corn syrup free, it's house-made vanilla bean syrup. Very tasty with the chicken and waffles. My husband ordered fresh harvest hash and enjoyed it but thought is could could use more bacon. Just note although Easton is known for on street parking, there is a parking garage literally right nextdoor as I am disabled this made parking simple. The bathroom is ADA compliant and it smelled and looked clean.

When I arrived I stood near the hostess stand since there wasn't much space due to others waiting. The hostess looked directly at me, so I began to give my name and mentioned the reservation. Her immediate response: "umm, what?" Assuming it was just loud, I repeated myself and clarified, "for two." She snapped back, "the 9 top?" I said, "no, just two." That earned me an eye roll and a "just hold on" before she walked away. No acknowledgment, no basic courtesy, just attitude. A few minutes later, she returned with a flat "come this way," and started walking to a table. I let that entire interaction go, assuming it was just a chaotic, loud brunch rush. My friend arrived shortly after, and we waited about 15-20 minutes with no menus or server. Not ideal, but manageable. We were catching up. When our waitress did come over, she was great. Super friendly, attentive, and the only reason this experience wasn't a complete loss. Food came out quickly, and overall we were there for about an hour, which is completely reasonable for brunch. Then the hostess made sure to leave a lasting impression. The second our plates were cleared, she reappeared, dropped the check on the table with a sharp "here," and walked away. No check-in, no "how was everything," no offer for another coffee; just a not-so-subtle message that our time was up. We left it there and continued talking while finishing our drinks. A few minutes later, she came back and said, "ladies, I really need this table.. you need to leave, I have a huge wait." There's efficient table management, and then there's whatever that was. We had been there just over an hour, while other tables around us had clearly been seated longer. If the goal was to move guests along, mission accomplished, but at the cost of any professionalism or basic hospitality. It was, without exaggeration, one of the most unnecessarily rude and poorly handled interactions I've had in a restaurant. Not rushed, but dismissed. As we walked out there was one couple standing there waiting. I looked around the corner to see if there was anyone else waiting- there wasn't. Food was fine- forgettable, honestly. And with that kind of front-of-house experience, there's absolutely no reason to come back.
