Overall it is a good pub! Nice assortments of tap beers. Yuengling vanilla black and tan was cold and tasty. The vanilla flavor was refreshing! We ordered fish and chips, which was very good fish, fish was very moist and tender. The battered wedged fries were delicious. The shrimp and fries were very good. The cheeseburger was tasty. It was much better when tomatoes, opinions, and lettuce were added, The beef taco was big and delicious. The only bad order was the fried calamari. It didn't really taste like calamari. It was too much breaded batter and the calamari were mushy and tasted more like fish. It was not tender. The service was awesome. The two bartenders Jelsy and the Big guy that served us were quick! Machs Gute is a pub located on Linden St. in Bethlehem. They are open Tue - Thu 11AM - 12AM and Fri - Sat 11AM - 1AM. This place has been on my list for a few years now. I'm glad I finally made it in. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming. The menu consists of wings, burgers, cheesesteaks, sandwiches, tacos, baskets, and salads. I decided to go with the French onion soup and sweet & spicy wings. The French onion soup is topped with garlic croutons and melted provolone cheese. This is something I usually wouldn't order, but I saw a few pictures and I had to have it. It was phenomenal! The sweet & spicy wings were cooked and sauced perfectly. The sauce had a great flavor. Went here for lunch the other day. It's a comfortable bar with a couple of TV sets. Our waitress brought us water and took our drink order. She was very pleasant. I ordered the Open-faced Rueben. My wife got a BLT Sandwich. Both came with chips and pickles My Rueben sandwich was delicious with very succulent corn-beef. The BLT was also delicious with a ton of crispy Bacon. I wanted to offer 4 stars but in the end I just couldn't muster it. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. She also came back to check at the right times and made a good drink recommendation. The atmosphere is certainly local dive with a nostalgic sports feel to it. It was clean but clearly frequented. I had the crab cake and fries both of which were obviously frozen then cooked. It was clearly not fresh cut or house-made which to me is an important distinction between acceptable and good food. It was acceptable for a quick lunch, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Maybe their cheesesteaks and wings (which they are known for) are much better house-made quality but I certainly am not interested in frozen-then-cooked crab cake or fries. I thought they were well priced for the portions and if someone asked me to meet them there I would go again, however, to me, the "atmosphere" is why you come and the food is what happens if you stay long enough- my idea of local dive but not a destination eatery. read more

This is a cool place to grab a beer and wings on the north side of Bethlehem. Good beer selection and I like the sports bar vibes... it's also easy to get to, plenty of street parking around. Bartenders and wait staff are generally friendly and take care of you well. I've had a few bad experiences with take out, fries have been soggy, undercooked, and unappetizing. We came out from Jersey yesterday to visit family in Bethlehem and although I have been out there before the service this particular time was above and beyond. Truly. Our waitress was top notch and handled our raucous crew (I say that affectionately). It appears as though someone may have called out? I don't know. I have always had good meals at Machs Gute, but yesterday was an exception. It was a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly busy. I ordered a cheese steak, which had been one of the best in the Lehigh Valley. I was disappointed with how much GREASE there was in the sandwich this time. It got to the point where I could not hold on the the bun because it was covered in grease. The meat was overdone, leading me to believe that it was sitting on the grill for awhile, soaking up grease. The cook should know better. I complained to the server, who apologized. I had indigestion for hours. Maybe avoid going there when they are that crowded, because they seem to cut corners with food prep. read more

While perusing Yelp we came across this pub not in downtown Bethlehem. It's menu and location looked perfect for us who do not like the traffic or the hustle and bustle of a lot of people. We walked in and sat ourselves. It was a bit loud, not because of the pub, but because there were loud people. We were greeted and our drink orders were taken quickly. I had the Strongbow Hard Apple cider on tap which was tasty. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, and two burgers (Hausman and the triple cheese with bacon) they were ordered medium and came out medium well, but wonderfully flavorful and juicy. It's a 4 star only because the parking could prove to be problematic as the night wears on, we were there about 4:30pm and there was just a space or two in street, and none in the adjacent lot. read more
