Ripper's pub is a great dive bar with really good food. If you're in the area from out of town I would suggest you give it a try. I don't have to say this to the locals because if you're from Bethlehem, you already know about this place. Ripper's has been a permanent fixture here in our beautiful city for as long as I can remember and I'm an old man. Always a treat at this clever little dive bar. It's tight in the barroom area, recommended to be skinny! The food is pretty good here. The Delmonico steak sandwich with lettuce tomato and onion on a Kaiser is excellent! The beer is cold and the food is good. Fun little joint! read more

A local cash only dive! No pretentiousness, no frills. May not be everyone's taste, but I don't think you can go wrong with cheap drinks, typical bar fare and a taste of the local flavor. The wait staff that helped me and boyfriend were friendly, efficient and quick. Smoking still allowed inside so, that's a bit jarring at first but all in all just a typical local joint. Avoid if your one to clutch your pearls at regular white collar folks just enjoying themselves. Def will return next time I'm in town read more

NEED LIQUOR LICENSE REVOKED Witness an older man being escorted out to the stairs exiting the pub. HEAVILY intoxicated to the point where he fell into Broad St. The older man somehow got himself up when he lost balance and fell into a lamp post and slammed his head on the metal posts at the bottom. NO ONE from in the bar came to help until my fiancé took it upon himself to help him to safety. They OBVIOUSLY served him until he got TOO intoxicated to even speak. He was heavily concussed after. The food at rippers is always amazing. It's a hometown bar with loud music and smoking allowed but that is exactly what adds to its charm. It's a super fun place, everyone there is family, and if you order the food, you can always rest assured it's going to be both good and filling, can't recommend it enough. read more

Went back to Rippers, been there 3 times now. This time it was packed from all the people that had lost power due to Sandy. People were plugging in their cell phone charges and staying warm. Even with the large crowd service was still good and efficient. The previous times I was there just for drinks. This time I had a burger and an order of the poppers, both were very tasty. They had simple service on paper plates, not sure if that is normal or because of the crowd but it was fine by me. And the price is right. I think the burger was something like $5.50. Beers were about $3, even the scotch was inexpensive. read more

Met a nice young lady down the street at a local micro brew and I asked her if there was any cool dive bars in the area that she would recommend, and she said " head down to Ripper's".... She called it the Black Hole (all in a good way) She said once you go in you can't get out....Meaning that you have such a good time you never want to leave !!....Well she was right ! Today was my first visit at Rippers Pub- It's a very nice, quaint old school local eatery with a very pleasant clientele and superbly attentive staff. The menu is basic, yet the entree's are well prepared with a sense of home cooking that is difficult to find in today's corporate operated, antiseptic chain restaurant environments. The bartender, Aimy, is very pleasant, eager to engage in intelligent conversation, very professional, and emulates a sense of feeling as if one is at home as soon as you settle in to relax. The atmosphere is very accommodating, somewhat rustic, and extremely inviting. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys great conversation, great food, and seeks an excellent hide-away to unwind and escape from life's stress and day to day hustle and bustle. read more

This fun small dive spot is located in the basement of a condo/office building. A bit cramped with lots of wood paneling and booths. Beers were cheap $2 on draft and the crowd was relaxed. We will return if in the area again! read more

I have a soft spot in my heart for little hole in the wall bars. My friend was in town for the weekend and we spent most of Saturday afternoon and early evening traipsing around Bethlehem. When we were all shopped out and on our way back to our car, we noticed this little bar on the corner and thought we'd stop in for a beer to wind down our day. WHAT A SURPRISE. I l-o-v-e this place. Bartenders were very friendly, and THEY HAVE PBR ON TAP. I am such a PBR girl, and I was very excited. Prices are extremely reasonable The bar was full, with the exception of seats not next to each other. A very kind and rough-around-the-edges guy was polite enough to offer to scoot down so my friend and I could sit together. We ended up sitting at the bar and talking to him for almost a couple of hours. I love going to bars where you can strike up conversations with random people...and this place has that going on. It's very unassuming, almost dive-bar like. I saw someone had a review about people there being rude to you if you're not a regular, but that's not the impression I got at all. Everyone was very friendly. I was completely won over when I noticed they had an Air Force Academy pendant behind the bar. Having grown up just north of the Academy, my mother and father (who is a retired fighter pilot) have sponsored numerous Cadets over the years. It is quite smoky in there, but that doesn't really bother me as I tend to enjoy a cigarette now and then when I have had a couple of beers. Enjoy!! read more

Hahahaha this place is a joke. The overall place itself is filthy and over crowded. The atmosphere is certainly not welcoming either, me and my friends sat down at a table and waited there for over 45 min to not even be recognized then we finally had to get the owner over which he looked like he was on some kind of drugs and drunk at the same time... I finally ordered a drink and so did my friends and let me tell you these drinks were HORRIBLE. They got a rum and coke and all you could taste was cheap rum and watered down soda, I got a sex on the beach and it tasted like gin and water and when I asked for another the owner goes " you don't like it" I said no he said " oh the woman must've made it" and then they tried to charge me $8 even after I returned it and said how horrible it was. This place is an absolute disgrace to our area and places like this needs to be shut down. Oh lord, I can not believe I have yet to review Rippers. This place is amazing. Don't come here for the food. Come here for a quiet beer with some friendly local barflies and great oil cooked popcorn. Some of my best nights in Bethlehem were had here with good friends. Tip: This is one of those rare gems where you won't feel like an alcoholic if you want to sit and have a beer mid day. Enough daylighting inside to remind you it's daytime but enough people to drink with that you won't feel like an outcast of society. read more

Rippers is a cool bar. First time there. It's fairly small. I would expect on a busy night that there won't be any seats available. There's a slightly larger section of tables around the other side of the bar. I only saw the "Musikfest" menu, so I can't comment on their regular menu, but the appetizers were great and tasty. We decided to order practically everything from this menu. Wings, jalapeño poppers, fried veggies, bag of chips, etc. All very good. Okay, so admittedly I am only really rating this place based on the restaurant half. I have no doubt that I might have had a different experience if I'd been at the bar for drinks. However, if a pub has a full menu and an entire section for seating restaurant customers only, I expect them to have halfway decent food. Plenty of pubs do it just fine. That was not my experience here. The food was subpar and overpriced. I got the pizza, which was pretty much on the same level as frozen pizza. I'm pretty sure the crust, at least, was pre-made. My friend got the Ripper's Burger. He said that it also wasn't very good; the roll was a bit stale, and the meat didn't taste very good. He also found a tiny little bug crawling around on it. Ew! On the plus side, service was fine (although it did take a little while to get our food -- not the server's fault, of course) and the drinks were just fine as well. The place has a nice atmosphere. I think I'd come back here to hang out at the bar, but definitely not for dinner. read more

Dark, smokey, stale food, dirty and an atmosphere of: "if you are not a regular, don't bother coming here" I got sick on a cheesesteak I ate there, as the meat is left to sit around all day. Cheap drinks, though. Not a place I frequent..and I AM a biker! read more

Great bar... play the Jukebox, watch the game, or grab some good ol' homemade pub grub. This place has been an established dive bar for as long as I can remember & is always a good time. Bartenders will always keep you glass full. This place is a classic dive bar, but a bit classy in an understated way. Located on a corner in the heart of the historic district, it feels like it should be in Boston or Annapolis. Great pubs often require you to step "down" into the lower level, which creates a place that's cool on a hot summer day and warm and intimate on a cold snowy day. Crowd is friendly to chat up. The chicken salad on one of their uniquely soft rolls is awesome, probably the freshest thing on the menu. Good juke box, and they'll blast it if you ask. A really nice staff who have been there forever and treat people well, as long as you yourself are chill. read more

It's small, but the prices are good and the selection is nice. It has some sort of a German vibe to it, but watch out, because the second door to the bar is easily accessible to underage kids. It can get super packed on weekends, especially if you come in through the bar door. Go through the other side door and you'll head into the seating area with tables and such. A few years ago my wife and I attempted to eat at Rippers. We walked in, sat down waited 15 minutes without seeing anyone and left. After a viewing this evening my daughter and I decided to try this place out again. This time my daughter and I walked in sat down, waited 15 minutes without seeing anyone and left. Not a regular, go somewhere else. Dirty, cramped, sticky bar and tables, and wacky (not in a good way). Better places in Bethlehem.

This is a great bar! It is small and at times smokey but the staff is super friendly. I am a regular at this bar and continue to have a great time every time I go there. It is really only popular with biker types during Musikfest. It is a diverse crowd of all ages. They have a jukebox which can be heard for the majority of the night. Every now and then, it can feel like amateur night but overall, it is a bunch of friendly people having a good time. I have never had an issue with the food but the food service does end around 10 pm. It gets crazy packed during Musikfest in the beginning of August. But sooo much fun! read more
