I haven't been to this place in years but man it hit the spot today. I got some fried fish, fried oysters, funnel cake fries, fried okra, shrimp and clam strips. The clam strips were ok.. the fish was great, shrimp was good and the oysters were pretty good. It's a decent price for the seafood. The fish is my favorite and I really love the hush puppies they are just sooo fluffy and crispy. The restaurant was nice and clean too. The staff were very nice and helpful. Tan was fantastic! Very helpful with the menu items. Talked us into chocolate cake for dessert and it was great. Food came out quickly. Their fish is truly the best around Orlando and when you compare it to other fish places it's very cheap. Metro, Ale House, IHOP, all their fish is more expensive and tastes very fishy. If they ever claimed to eat here because seafood is healthy, I'd call Captain D's "Nuts". However, if you do love your seafood breaded, battered, crispy and fried, then go and get yourself some of this stuff. Don't fall for their special stuff (i.e. any type of lobster, including the lobster rolls). Go here for delicious fried seafood. They use different types of batter/breading on different types of seafood. Probably not great for your heart, but your tastebuds will love it. The fried fish is good. They even have spicy fried fish which is built into the breading (think Popeye's). Still 4 stars after a few years of occasionally stopping in. I have been looking for good fish and chips in East Orlando - this so far might be the winner. The food is very good for a fast food restaurant. The fish was tasty - came in for seniors special - 2 fish, 2 sides and a drink $6.99 ( Wednesday and Sundays). Tan took my order quickly and the hot food was brought to the table - I love that they have malt vinegar ( how can you have fish and chips without it) . This location used to be fantastic and a great value. Started going downhill when I was given raw fish a while back and and had to drive all the way back to store. No apology and the employees acted like it was no big deal. I always order online to save time. Last 2 visits a new daytime cashier/order taker has made me come inside. No one was here when I arrived. Two people have ordered and left with their food since I've been here. Having to park and come inside erases the convenience of mobile ordering for me. I'm still waiting 20 minutes later! How long does it take to cook a pre-ordered fish sandwich? Never...coming... back. We have been big fans of Capt D's for years. We lived close to one and would eat there maybe once a week (Sanford FL) We moved to Cocoa Beach and the closest is East Orlando. We have been there twice and never again. Prices are fair, the best thing is green beans and cold slaw. Fish was terrible. Dry and not the same fish as a year ago. I think it was Pollick. Shrimp down sized. The server gave us tartar sauce in small cups with lids. I opened on and it had separated and did not look safe to eat (made in store). I asked for other and received the regular Capt D's square tartar sauce. Also no forks. Spoons only. Workers were very nice and friendly-no issue with them. I asked what fish is used. It is Swazi which is cheap fish I would not buy due to some health warning I have seen. Do not know if this store or whole company. I have ordered from this restaurant several times and asked for nice rice on the grilled white fish and shrimp skewer meal. Unfortunately, they did not listen and added rice against my request. Wanted to try for the 1st time so we decided to stop by the drive thru. The young lady taking the order sounded frustrated and not very friendly. I ordered just shrimp, fries and mac n cheese. My son had a soda and churro fries. We were asked to pull up to wait for our order after we paid. Twenty minutes later I was given my food. I drove to the gas station and opened my bag. After waiting for what we thought was for fresh made food everything was nice and hot except the Mac n cheese. :( but even with it being cold - no warmth to it at all - it was still good. It's FINALLY open! We decided to try Captain D's and they did not disappoint. Captain D's is definitely a take off on Long John Silver's, but much less greasy. The staff at the drive-through were very friendly, however it did take a little bit long to get the food...but I'm sure they're still working out kinks.I decided to go with their chicken with corn, french fries, and hush puppies. My other half decided to go with the catfish feast with green beans, mac & cheese, and french fries. We will definitely be back! I couldn't even finish my meal! I used to go here with my Dad, and when it re-opened, I was ecstatic. I took my son for the very first time, and he loved it. Customers for life.....third generation. Everyone was super nice, and I had a pleasant conversation with Ms. Herring the manager or GM or Proprietor ( I forgot). She was awesome, and is definitely a reason to return. I been going to captain D for quite a wlie now this captain d was here before and they had closed it and they had been different businesses there but i guess it wasent going well, now captain D came back to this location and I love captainD so I go often but employees are not good and the cooker takes for ever to make the food the wait is always long and the custom service is terrible every time I go there is aKeats a problem ether with my order or some one else's I just wen there and the order took like 30 minutes wen we paid the cashier drop the money in the floor we were in the drive ttu he told as to park and all we order was a lobster roll meal and funnel cake 30 minutes and after we left we notice he forgot the drink we wen back to get the drink he dint even remember a bout it and had an attitue I hope they change the entire staff I don't know the guys name cause he dint even give me a receipt read more
