I was really impressed with the food here. Everything was seasoned and tasted great. Prices are very reasonable and service was good. I really liked the decor also. Definitely a must try.

I heard good things online about this restaurant so naturally I was excited to try this place. I ordered the Catfish meal which comes with hush puppies and fries. The food came out pretty quick and I took it home to eat. There was only 1 fish included in the dinner plate. Any place I have gone to that serves fried fish usually gives at least 2 pieces of fish, if not more. I said to myself, well it is a large piece and has hush puppies. I thought maybe they are cutting back but I'm sure the fish must be really good. The catfish looked nice and crispy but had no taste and also had a bad fishy taste like when fish is either old or undercooked or both! It was very stringy and I honestly didn't even finish eating it. The hush puppies were probably the best thing on the plate and fries were regular seasoned fries nothing special. I would've returned this had I not already gone all the way home. I was so disappointed especially after hearing good things about this place. I was surprised at the lack of quality. I really wanted to like this place as the staff were so nice and friendly. I am hoping the bad quality of the fish is not something that is a regular occurrence and that I caught them on a bad day but regardless my experience was not a good one.

TJ's has been a quick option for me whenever I'm craving seafood but I don't necessarily want to make the trip out to I Drive or other parts of Orlando for a sit down restaurant. TJ's is a casual spot with no frills, but the service and food are what keep the locals coming back. In my case I was in to pick up my to go order of lobster rolls, but the place was fully packed at dinner time with happy customers! The lobster rolls and fries traveled well, which was a huge plus and tasted delicious! Normally I will get a shrimp option here but I'm glad I decided to try something different this go around! If you're ever in the area and looking for an affordable seafood option, this is a great place to consider!

Such a great casual seafood shack in Oviedo. I went with my colleague on a Thursday night. When we arrived, there was a small wait in the counter. But it wasn't too long. I ordered the house wine for happy hour (3 buck chuck), and lobster roll and crab cake platter, with broccoli as the side (about 21.5). I paid directly on the counter using Google Pay, and took my drink to my table. I tried the Moscato wine, which tasted cheap, but no complaints at all for 3 dollars. It was still sweet and buzzed me lightly. The food was delivered to our table shortly after. The lobster roll was filling, but mostly a mix of both real and surami lobster. It was still enjoyable and had the nice fish flavor I enjoy from surami. The crab cake had real blue crab claw meat and was flavorful. The broccoli looked to be grilled or steamed and had the right amount of seasoning. It was really enjoyable. My only minor gripe was the hot sauce I took that said XXX, but after adding to the food, there was no fire to the taste buds engine. While it added some flavor, it didn't bring any fuel to the spices. The service was wonderful. The attendant was very friendly and helpful, and even took care of the plates after we were done. I believe his name was Christopher. The atmosphere is very casual, no frills setting. The dining area is a bit small, but outdoor seating was available too. It looked nautical themed, as well as gator stuff. Parking was free and easy in the strip mall. Best of all, when you are done eating, for can walk to the park nearby. TJs serves great seafood at very reasonable prices. While it is no frills atmosphere, the good quality food makes the price worth it. The service is very friendly and helpful. This is such a great restaurant in Oviedo on the park. Overall: A-

Food was delicious! Husband had gator bites blackened. I had a protein bowl. Our son had Tiki Teriyaki Shrimp Tacos. The black beans and rice were so good! Get the hush puppies!!!

Pros: Fun ambiance. A dining room full of nautical decor, along with some Cracker Barrel charm signage and sayings. Very quaint. Service was nice. It was counter service, but the guy was friendly, and the food came out promptly. The food itself was surprisingly good. The soup was very flavorful, the fried items were not greasy or anything, and the portion sizes were plentiful. Very appreciated. Cons: No real cons. Everything was really great. Tips: Get the gumbo. It's a healthy portion, and it's very deep with flavor. Not spicy. The gator tacos we got had really nicely sized cuts of gator meat. And the swamp sauce was awesome.

Came here for a quick lunch one day after the gym. Worked out, walked next door, and started ordering some food. I started off with the Louisiana Style Gumbo (Louisiana-style gumbo with chicken and Andouille Sausage served with saltine crackers. No seafood!) I guess this item is for people who don't like seafood. I think those people should please leave the state. But as a dish that can also be eaten by people with seafood allergies, I'm so glad this gumbo was so good, so those people can experience gumbo without danger. A good flavor, a hint of spice, and a base that wasn't too tomatoey. All good things. We moved onto the main event, the Fisherman's Catch Platter (Get ALL 4 of the following: Fish filet (basa), 4 jumbo shrimp, clam strips & 3 fried oysters. Served with cocktail or tartar). For an all-fried platter, this wasn't too oily or greasy. It was all well fried, and it also had a great batter-to-protein ratio. Less filler, more seafood. The fish filet was the best part. The basa fish is a type of catfish, so you know it's good. Shrimp per good, clam strips are always only ok and a good ketchup vehicle, and the oysters were good, but if you don't like oysters, these won't change your mind. And because we're just greedy, we also got the Gator Swamp Tacos (Local caught gator tacos on flour tortillas over shredded lettuce & tomatoes, topped with a sweet, smoky "swamp sauce"!). How can you say no to swamp sauce? These were unexpectedly amazing. Nice, big flour tortillas. A metric ton of fried alligator meat. Real good sized hunks of meat, too. Not tiny gator clam strip things. A good little amount of fresh veg. And that creamy, mildly spicy swamp sauce. Man, I could have bought a bottle of that stuff. Very good. Overall, this place was a very pleasant surprise for me. No way did I think a hole in the wall in landlocked Oviedo would provide me a meal this good. But I was wrong. This place is excellent, and you should come here.

Place your order at the counter and then find a seat, they will bring it to you when ready, I sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day. I wasn't sure what to order, I asked the associate that was helping me and he recommended the Red Fish. It's a hearty texture fish, but they cooked it perfectly, paired with the 2 hush puppies and coleslaw which I loved. I chose the sweet potato fries, they were also really good. For dessert, I ordered the Lemon cheesecake, delicious!! I will go back here again to try some other options.

Discovered this place recently, and it's becoming one of our favorite restaurants. They have really great deals Monday through Wednesday and the service is top-notch. My son loves coming and getting a burger and fried kids' meal that comes with a fountain drink since it's close to his school. They have kids eat free Mondays, fish tacos Tuesdays and AYCE fish Wednesdays. I love that they offer a variety of ways you can get their fish (fried, blackened, grilled) and all have been delicious, though that makes it hard to decide what option to get.

Heyyyyyyy you guyyyyyyyys! Let's get right in, where have I been and why have I never been here before? The gig is up, this place is a gem! Walked in, casual vibe, there is outdoor seating, you order and pick a seat. The menu has great variety, we opted for fried pickles, fish and chips and the chosen fish and baja shrimp tacos, with a side of hush puppies. The hush puppies are a little dense and need some more flavor, even with the honey on the side that was my only so, so, food item. Everything else was truly fresh full of flavor!! I would definitely come back the service was great as well. Let's eat!!

They even ask for tip. Once seated they bring the food out. Decor was okay but the furniture was in terrible conditions. Restroom looks like a 7/11 bathroom. Now the food which was pricey. No flavor at all. Let me start with the coconut shrimp, no flavor just drop fried. French fries were good but no seasoning. The lobster bisk was horrible. Again no flavor and very giddy with tiny sherds of lobster. Mac and cheese tasted like microwave food. My husband had fried scallops and although it didn't have much flavor they were pretty good. All in all great for all the seniors that were there but not for younger folks or anyone who likes to taste their food. Sadly to say won't be returning.

Updating this review from about seven years ago. I came to Reel Fish a while ago, and it was a…read moretruly awful experience. The skimpy amount of seafood I got was not good, not cooked well, or served with undercooked potatoes. It shook me. Especially for a Winter Park restaurant. After my five year statute of limitations passed on repeating restaurants, I looked for the perfect opportunity to come back and try again. I found that opportunity recently with a few friends for brunch. Their brunch menu looked amazing, so we made our reservation and came on by. Ambiance is actually really nice. Right off one of the main WP roads, gigantic windows look out upon the street as passersby roam from shop to shop. Inside looks like an ocean-side sea shack, but an upper middle class one. Very nice little ocean-themed chotchkies adorn the walls, very cozy. Service was also great. Very nice server, very prompt food delivery, and they gave complimentary bread with a delightful butter. I always adore free bread. We started off sharing the Seafood Fritters (Four savory puppies, stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallops, clams, grouper, onions, corn, poblano peppers, served with a zesty tartar sauce). If all five of those seafoods really were in there, there must have been only a few molecules each, but there was undoubtedly flavors from most of that list, and they were accentuated with the poblano. Topped with that zesty tartar, and this was an A+ app. I had the Lobster Benedict Royale (Chunks of Maine lobster on fried green tomatoes & house-baked buttermilk biscuits, topped with poached eggs & Hollandaise, sprinkled with paprika & chopped green onions). This was indulgent. Pure luxury. A warm biscuit with a good flakiness, that fried green tomato with the perfect thickness and thin, delicate coating, and those perfectly cooked jumbo chunks of lobster on top, all covered in an unctuous Hollandaise. Exactly as it sounds, as advertised, the perfect seafood brunch item. I also got to try the Shrimp Frittata (Wild-caught Florida shrimp, fresh eggs, spinach, Campari tomatoes, goat cheese, caramelized onions, baked in a cast-iron skillet, with wheat toast, butter & a little mixed green salad). This was a fun dish. Good shrimps, well-cooked eggs, a nice tang from that goat, and of course a nice crunchy toast to help make it even more interesting. I didn't like that random salad on the side. Just get bigger cast irons and make the frittata bigger. Overall, what a redemption. I'm not sure what was wrong back in the day, but this is a five star place now that I will happily return to when it's time.
