I had very high expectations for this place. So much so last time we tried to come here the line was so long that we couldn't even get a table. This time we were able to get seated within 10 minutes which was great. The ambience is really fun however I was expecting a little more from the food. everything was tasty and had some great flavors, but nothing really blew me away or stood out. Our waiter disappeared a few times too. I think we were ready to pay the bill and it felt like it took a long time to finally pay. Felt like maybe this is the way the restaurant creates FOMO maybe? When we got up to leave there was a really big line of people waiting outside. Cheers.
I'm here this week for 4 nights for a conference and I literally came to Susuru for 3 nights coz their food is just pretty amazing! So second night I got a bowl of tonkotsu ramen with black garlic oil and it was 10/10. The broth was creamy, pork flavor was spot on, the egg was done perfectly (which I'm very particular) and the chashu was delish. I wish I added extra chashu coz it was packed with umami flavor. I also ordered the beef tongue and beef tenderloin and both were nice done, tender, well seasoned and good size for a yakitori. This place definitely knows how to make authentic Japanese street food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!
After a long Disney day, I had one mission: find great yakitori. Susuru kept popping up with glowing reviews, and being one of the closest spots to the parks, it seemed like the obvious choice. Judging by the line that had already formed 15 minutes before they even unlocked the doors, I wasn't the only one with that idea. The moment you walk in, it feels like you've stumbled into a tiny neighborhood izakaya in Tokyo. Paper lanterns, Japanese signs covering the walls, colorful vintage décor, wooden stools that politely remind you to finish eating instead of lingering for three hours--it all adds to the charm. It's casual, lively, and full of personality. The menu has plenty to explore, but I came for the yakitori. Since everything is ordered à la carte, I built my own assortment of skewers, and every single one was grilled beautifully over charcoal. The meats were juicy, the vegetables had that perfect smoky char, and the chimichurri-style dipping sauce they served alongside was something I found myself dipping absolutely everything into. Yes, ordering several skewers can add up faster than your Lightning Lane budget, but the quality absolutely justifies it. Sometimes simple food, done exceptionally well, is worth every penny. If you're near Disney and craving authentic Japanese comfort food instead of another theme park burger, put Susuru on your list. Just do yourself a favor and arrive early... unless standing in line is your favorite Disney ride. 5/5 - I'll happily be back for another round of skewers.
Susuru has such a fun, nostalgic vibe and the food was excellent from start to finish. We started with the chicken karaage and mentai fries and both were delicious. Everyone ordered a different ramen including the Tori Paitan, Mi So Hot, and Black Tonkotsu. Each one had great flavor and depth. The portions were generous and the meal was super reasonable price wise. Louie was attentive throughout and made the experience even better. We were there at about 5:10. We read they did not take reservations and seated on a first come first serve basis. The restaurant opened at 5 and was filling up fast. It was not long after we seated that there were folks waiting for seats. A fantastic spot all around.
5/5 Stars -- Outstanding late-night dinner! Susuru delivered another incredible experience on our second visit! We came in for a late dinner around 9:00 PM and were pleasantly surprised--the initial 30-minute estimated wait turned into getting seated in just 10 to 15 minutes. Service was top-notch from start to finish, and the food was simply delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection with so much depth and flavor in every single bite. We kicked off the meal with an appetizer spread of Chicken Karaage, Truffle Sesame Tuna, and Tempura Fried King Oyster Mushrooms--all executed wonderfully. For my main, I went with the Susuru Chashu Gohan mini bowl along with the Short Ribs and Skirt Steak. For me, it was the absolute ideal balance of protein and carbs, and every piece of meat was insanely flavorful. You cannot leave without dessert: the Matcha Tiramisu. Wow. Rich, decadent, and genuinely one of the best and most unique tiramisus I've ever tasted. Make sure you leave room to end your meal with it! The rest of my family loved their meals just as much. We first came here a few years ago and knew we had to make it back on this trip. Susuru remains a MUST-visit in Orlando!
Tried this place after hearing so much about it on socials. Pulled up and there was a small line waiting for it to open. Really cool place with an open atmosphere. Kitchen is also open with a bar that looks directly into the kitchen as you dine. Drinks are simple. Plum wine, Japanese whisky options, beer, and soft drinks. Also a few mixed drinks, but again nothing crazy or exciting. Food was fresh and pretty good. The tuna sashimi appetizer was fantastic! The sauce is like a yum-yum and black sesame blend. Incredible. The bowl was wayyyyyy too sweet for me. Too much of the sauce. But the rice and chicken were pretty good. The pork belly is grilled and not seasoned much. So added it to the bowl to calm the sweet and it worked well. Overall, this place isn't worth queuing for, but still pretty good considering its location. Solid 6/10 for me.
I got so lucky again. I wanted to do on a Saturday night. I arrived around 730ish, and got lucky to find parking. When I arrived, I was told there was a bar seating in 10 minutes, which I took. I scanned the menu and had to have the old fashioned again (12 dollars). It was a great deal as it was boozy for me to stay happy for a while. For dinner, I splurged with the miso lamb (26 dollars) and chicken breast and thigh skewers (4.6 dollars each). All the meats were perfectly grilled and tender. The miso paste was perfect with the lamb, and the chimichurri sauce made it more flavorful. There were micro greens and potatoes for the vegetables. The wasabi topping on the chicken was very nice and brought the kick needed. I don't know if it was real wasabi, but it was still good. For dessert, the matcha tiramisu (8 dollars) was earthy and light, and the green tea was a nice gesture. The service was attentive and nice. My bartender made a great drink and the whole staff took great care of us. The vibe is still very nice, with lots of Japanese nostalgia displayed. The bar area has a nice open kitchen to watch the action as well. Music looks to be Japanese pop or anime. Parking can be difficult, and the wait times can get long, so bring your patience as it is well worth it! This is still a wonderful Japanese restaurant for bar food. No wonder it still gets crowded, especially on a Saturday night. I really need to visit their sister restaurant, Juju, as well. They are a similar concept with excellent food and drinks too! Our favorite spot to celebrate all occasions! Food brings us back to Japan! Ambiance is retro /izakaya. You have to try their seasonal specials as well! Never disappoints. We LOVE the beef tongue. So tender, probably the best beef tongue we've ever had in the nation. The dessert never disappoints. A perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Kurobata sausage: delicious and cute! This is what high quality ingredients get you!
What an amazing little hole in the wall! This is an Izakaya style eatery and they totally nailed the perfect vibe. From the decor, to the seats at the bar watching our food made, to the amazing tasty food at great prices, I wish I lived near here because this would be a regular hangout. We tried regular menu items, specials, themed cocktails, the whole bit, and absolutely everything was spot on! Service was super friendly, and it seemed everything was made to order. I loved everything about this place!
The place doesn't take reservations so expect to wait. We waited about 30 minutes for seats at the bar. The interior looks beautiful and really replicates Japanese art, culture, etc nicely. The service was decently fast as well as they gave us one plate at a time. The drink was tasty and you can definitely taste the alcohol in it. I personally enjoyed the Godzilla toy on it and they have a few alternations of it. The gyoza was probably the best item my girlfriend and I had as the chicken dumplings underneath were delicious. The skirt steak was tender and had a nice sauce on it too. The chicken karaage was our least favorite just because there wasn't much taste to it. It came with a sort of mayo dip, and it was fried nicely.
The tantan ramen had a mild peanut and sesame flavor which was just satisfying enough! The tonkotsu ramen's broth was simple and the noodles were good. The cow tongue and chicken thigh yakitori were 10/10. The service was very friendly and attentive would recommend for a welcoming and fun atmosphere. The inside was very lively and had retro Japanese decor. There were also lots of unique cocktail options available.

Overall we enjoyed the foods we ordered. The izakaya skewers and grilled items are great! Their ramen noodles are rated undercooked - not necessarily in a bad way - it's just not as soft as other places but I actually prefer my noodles a bit undercooked. The tonkotsu black are strongly flavored - lots of bamboo shoots. It is my least favorite. Miso lamb comes with chimichurri that's just out of this world. We had to wait for about 30 mins, but the are lots of benches outside so the wait wasn't too bad.

SO good!! We went on a Friday evening for my husband's birthday and got there around 6. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated, which honestly wasn't bad at all! We ordered a bunch of things to share- the chicken karaage, gyoza with wings, okonomiyaki, tonkotsu black ramen, and a few skewers. Everything was delicious, but the shishito peppers were SO good! We also had our 1 year old with us and she absolutely LOVED the ramen broth and noodles, which was so cute. Such a cool spot with great food! read more
Food was mid and absolutely not worth the wait. I came on a Saturday night at 8pm and was told there would be an hour wait. I fell asleep waiting in my car after an hour goes by and went inside to check because I saw empty tables from the outside and had heard from the hostess. I told her that I had been waiting for over an hour and she said that there was about 4 parties in front of me. I went back outside to wait for less than 5 min and she called me in saying the table had cancelled so my table is now available. That was already a red flag - she totally forgot about me!!! After being seated, the waiter took literally 15min to even come acknowledge us because he was too busy talking to his friends at the next table. We visited here during our trip to Orlando. We had to wait for a table, but we could tell it was worth it. We enjoyed the Mi-So-Hot Ramen, Hamachi Kama, Gyoza with Wings, Chicken Karaage and an assortment of the skewers. Out of the skewers the Momo & Pork Belly were my favorites. Everything was delicious we actually had to order more! Our server made great recommendations and was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this spot for a flavorful and fun dinner. Just like my review from before, Susuru is still one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando. It's still such a fun retro izakaya whenever I'm craving ramen or Japanese style tapas, and the service is always top notch. We almost always have Asuka as our server, and she's seriously the sweetest. She's always so welcoming and somehow always recommends something that ends up becoming a new favorite. They've added more ramen to the menu since my last review, and the Tan Tan ramen has quickly become one of my favorites. The spicy sesame peanut broth is rich, flavorful, and has just the right amount of heat. If I'm not in the mood for ramen, I always go with the shiso butter yaki onigiri with a side of pork chashu. They torch the butter right at your table, which is such a fun touch, and it smells incredible. The mentaiko fries are still a must order every single visit, and for dessert you can't skip the matcha tiramisu or the taro ice cream with the hot green tea. The ramen, grilled meats, addicting appetizers, fun drinks, awesome atmosphere, and consistently amazing staff are exactly why I keep coming back. Easily one of my favorite spots in Orlando. read more
Street corn was really good! Great menu options. Service was great and our waitress was super helpful and knowledgeable on menu items and what to try. Sorry! I didn't get her name. This place is always busy so be prepared to wait. The atmosphere is also very cool. read more

I was in town for a work conference and ended up meeting up with one of my friends who also happens to be Yelp elite. She recommended this place and it was close to where I was staying so it sounded like a good deal. I got there just as they were opening around 5 PM and was seated promptly. The decor inside is very cool. I love the chairs and all of the Japanese influence. We had so many delicious bites from the skirt steak to the fried chicken. Everything had great flavor and texture. The Sapporo's were nice and cold and cheap. I did try one of the fancy drinks the Godzilla and it was yummy. As we were leaving this place was starting to get packed on a weekday which is a good sign to me. If you plan on coming here, definitely make sure you come with time so you can get yourself a nice table and enjoy some great food. read more
SUSURU is a great place to not only enjoy delicious Japanese bites, but a fantastic environment that immerses you the moment you enter. The staff have always been friendly and efficient, their menu offers a little something for everyone as well. Even for picky eaters as there are some basic rice offerings or a variety of sticks. It's also a good option for people wanting to try something that is not standard Japanese fare offered at many restaurants. If you're in the mood for Japanese food, or seeking a great late night bite option that isn't bar food or chain, you'll enjoy your visit here! read more

I remember reading somewhere that Susuru felt like a Michelin star experience without the Michelin prices, and I couldn't agree more. Orlando has a small collection of these incredible Asian tapas places which warm the heart and feed the soul, and Susuru is now my favorite of those places. First impressions- the inside of Susuru is so damn charming. You really feel like you've been transported to a delightful restaurant you'd find in Japan. The atmosphere is fun but not crazy by any means. The restaurant was full with a 10 minute wait, and I believe that was late on a Wednesday night... I have friends that went back to Susuru and said that they waited over an hour on a Saturday night (they spent the hour at the Axe-Throwing tiki bar a few shops away). I don't believe they take reservations, so if you don't want to wait a while, make sure you go on a weeknight! Also, parking is plentiful, free, and not an issue. My buddy that I went with wanted to splurge and have a sort of Top Chef-fy experience, so she ordered way more than 2 people have any business ordering. Zero complaints, because we had a blast... and we found it pretty affordable considering how much we ordered. THE GOODS: 1) Tonkotsu Ramen- her and I were both craving ramen, so we started off with it. Ugh. Delicious. I got the regular Tonkotsu, and she got the Tonkotus Black (the only difference is the black garlic oil). We both loveddd it. And honestly, it was even more delicious the next day when we had the leftovers for a hearty lunch. The noodles and broth were great; and the egg was yummy (my favorite soft boiled egg in town is still Domu's East End location's bruléed soil boiled egg). I'd order the ramen again. 2) Chicken Karaage- perfectly battered and fried. Sometimes, I feel like karaage is over-battered and so crispy that it hurts your mouth when you're crunchy down on it... This had the ideal crunch with tender pieces of chicken inside. And the yuzu mayo was a great complement to the dish. 3) Mentaiko Fries- I felt like the more I had these, the more I liked them. I'm a big fan of putting roe on more food items, so I loved the idea of making a spicy mayo with roe. The fries were crunchy and went so well with the roe mayo. Thumbs up. 4) Susuru Gohan- this was a nice dish. I liked that it was pretty simple and a nice addition to the rest of the meal. I'd think of it as ordering a flavorful side of rice rather than an appetizer or dish on its own. 5) Momo (Yakitori)- this was good. Not super memorable... but tasty. I've had better chicken thigh yakitori. I'd probably order something else to try something new next time. 6) Beef Tongue (Kushiyaki)- OH MY. Hands down, my favoriteee bite of the whole experience... and quite honestly my favorite bite I've had of something in a while. The beef tongue quite literally melts in your mouth. Ughhh what a savory and delicious bite. I could have this every single day of my life and never get tired of it. I am salivating just thinking about it. 7) Matcha Tira-Masu- While the matcha tira-masu was tasty, I went into dessert thinking this was going to be my #1 dessert... but I actually liked the Ube soft serve more. This tasted more along the lines of a very light cheesecake dusted in matcha. I love how it was served- it was a beautiful dish. 8) Soft Serve (Ube)- this was great and was surprised by it. It felt like a much lighter ice cream, and wasn't heavy or super creamy. It reminded me more of an asian shaved ice (like at Saigon Snow at Mills Market). The ube flavor was delightful and wasn't overpoweringly sweet as it often is. Be mindful that the flavors vary- a friend of mine that returned to Susuru LOVED this ube soft serve when we had it but didn't like the new flavor she had when she returned (she couldn't remember what it was, maybe a vanilla?). Overall, I absolutely loveddd my experience at Susuru. I even bought one of their t-shirts so I can get 10% off every time I return, lmao. I now tell everyone and their mothers about how great this place is. I wish it was closer to me- but I'll have to plan a Disney + Susuru trip on that side of town soon just to experience my favorites all over again (and try some new bites)! Rounded up from 3.5 stars. We were sat at a table in the middle of the room. It's a bit loud in the restaurant and it wasn't the most comfortable place to sit being surrounded by noise. We really like the small plate concept so that you try several plates in one sitting. They were out of several menus items that we were hoping to try but we were able to find enough to make a meal out of what was available. Lastly our server just seemed like she didn't want to be there. I don't know what she had going on but it just doesn't make the experience super enjoyable with an unenthusiastic server. read more

Very cute izakaya! Only 20 min wait on a Tuesday night around 9pm, was totally worth it! Our favorite dish was the mentaiko fries, and we loved the matcha tiramisu. The chicken oyster and chicken thigh skewers were very tender too! For cocktails, we got the yuzu lemonado and a beer, the beer was good, also yuzu, but I think I will pass next time on the yuzu lemonado. I think the other skewers like the shiitake, and Brussels sprouts were just alright, but would definitely come back for the mentaiko fries and matcha tiramisu! read more
I enjoyed this ramen place a lot. The flavors were 7-8 out of 10 for me but the service was 10/10. What I would say that separates this place from other Ramen places is the simplicity and the ambience. But I do have to say the service was excellent and a "never let your cup go empty" kind of place. The desserts were a bit limited but all were delicious! read more
I have so many photos from Susuru that Yelp won't even let me post them all. That should give you an idea of how much I love this place. I know Juju is closer to my side of town, but Susuru is the one that I go back to. It's a crowd favorite too! All our family, friends, guests, coworkers, and anyone else we've taken here just rave about it and say that it's one of the best places they've eaten at. In a plaza full of heavy-hitters, Susuru holds its own and keeps me coming back on repeat. All the food is served small plate-style and comes out as it's ready. So it's best to order things family style as different dishes will come out before others and, if you order separately, there's no guarantee all the food will come out at the same time. It's also good to order 2-3 dishes per person. You absolutely have to get the Mentaiko Fries, King Salmon Tataki, Tempura King Oyster Mushrooms, and Hamachi Kama to start. Then, I love getting the Momo, Negima, Kawa, Beef Tenderloin, Brussel Sprouts, and Eggplant skewers. Pairing all of this with the Susuru Gohan will absolutely stuff you. Make sure to reserve a Matcha Tiramisu when you order because once they sell out, they sell out! But the Matcha Tiramisu is sooo good and I could eat a billion. 5/5 Stars -- can't recommend enough. read more

After leaving Player 1 Video Game Bar earlier than expected, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by Susuru for a late bite. It ended up being a great decision. We started by sharing a drink that came in a cool fishbowl-style cup, which was a fun way to kick things off. For appetizers, we ordered a few skewers that were really good and full of flavor. One of the highlights was the fries topped with seaweed and a special sauce, they were honestly amazing, and we pretty much devoured them right away. We also tried a fried mochi with bacon. It was definitely interesting with its sweet and savory mix. A little unusual, but still good and worth trying if you like unique flavors. For our main dishes, we both ordered ramen. By the time it arrived we had already filled up on appetizers, so we ended up taking most of it home, but the ramen itself was still really good. To top things off, the staff gave us a free mini matcha cake, which was a nice surprise. I enjoyed it, although my girlfriend is a bit picky with desserts. The restaurant itself also had a really cool vibe with vintage figures and decorations that added a lot of personality to the space. Final Thoughts: Great food, fun atmosphere, and a solid ramen spot overall. I'd definitely come back again read more

Susuru is the best restaurant in Orlando! If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. Every dish we ordered was incredible, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. Went on a Saturday night around 7/8. The wait time given to us was 45min. We waited over an hour. The food here is always outstanding. The service was great. This time around I had the horchata ice cream for dessert $6. It was great. The mentaiko fries $13 were crispy and tasty as always. The wasabi sasami, sausage, skirt steak were tasty $4-6. I always get the chasu gohan but this time I got it with chicken and not pork belly $12. The single boiled egg was an extra $2! Kevin got the tantán ramen the broth didnt have that much flavor and was spicy. The noodles had the perfect chew to them. They have Sapporo beer, bottled for $4! I took a star off because they were seating parties without the whole party being there. This caused wait times to be pushed back. read more

Susuru never disappoints! Been going here for years and every time, it hits the spot. The team there always serves up delicious skewers (my favorite the beef tongue) and unique cocktails (get the astroboy!) I've tried pretty much everything on their menu and I recommend: hamachi Kama, fries, karaage, any specials they may have, beef tenderloin, chicken thigh, and pork belly! You may might have to wait since this place is awesome and it can get busy around dinner time, but believe me when I say it's worth the wait! read more

What a fun atmosphere! The spot is decorated like a local Osaka izakaya (but too spacious)! we were seated immediately on a Thursday night and offered a variety of Japanese beers, definitely try their specials, it's the perfect drink to pair with izakaya food. I love the pork belly rice & wagyu don. The fried mushrooms also had the perfect light batter! Definitely need to try more on their menu next time I'm back! read more
A local friend recommended this spot, and I'm so glad they did! We came on a Saturday night around 8pm after a theme park visit and somehow got seated in under 5 minutes -- a total miracle considering the usual long wait. The interior gave me nostalgic Japan vibes, and service was friendly and attentive. The yakitori had that great charcoal flavor I love -- almost as good as what I had in Japan, though I think the marinade there is slightly different. Prices are similar to what I'm used to back home in California. The place is spacious, but they don't take reservations, so I'd recommend coming right at opening unless you're prepared for a 1-2 hour wait. read more

Yes there were several vegetarian/vegan options. I tried a few and they were quite delicious.

Yes. and they have Tamari Soy sauce. Just some items may not be available, depending on if prefabbed or not. Just ask your server. At the event I went to, one of my tablemates was Gluten free and they were able to accommodate her.
Are there vegetarian options? Question answered! They have vegan ramen that isn't on the menu! We ordered ramen and skewers, lotus chips, radish salad w/out fish/meat. Just ask! Cool space, cool staff. Will be back w/veg + carnivore friends!
Some of my friends ordered vegetarian ramen before (by request). They said the vegan ramen tasted really good.
