Came here on a rainy Friday night right at opening expecting no wait and when we arrived there was already a short line but were able to be seated for a table of 4. Izakaya style vibes as soon as you walk in, the space is small but they have a large waiting area. Perhaps the waiting area could be converted into more seating. You really can't go wrong with any dish here but some standouts are the chicken karaage, chashu gohan (braised pork belly with rice), and getting adventurous with any of the yakitori and kushiyaki dishes. Love this unassuming place. Get there early so that you can sit at the bar where you get a great view of the chef doing their magic. Definitely coming back to do the omakase. Drinks were great, we had the Ultraman and the old fashion. My friend gave Cam our bartender freedom to surprise her on her second drink and it came out so good. It made it even better that he had a Thornhill shirt on. Every bite of food was perfect. We had the bluefin tartar, waygu gyoza, hamachi kama, pressed salmon sushi and the donuts. We brought my dad to Jujus the other day as a treat. They can get pretty crowded but we picked the sweet spot around 5. Our server was so sweet and really made the experience even better. The atmosphere is very chill and I feel pretty immersed. It's funny bc it's a renovated Pizza Hut thus their Jujus signature drink in the Pizza Hut cup. It was a whiskey drink and once I gave it a good stir to mix the flavors it was really good! The fish was fresh and tasty. However, if you don't like curry maybe don't get the tempura it kinda through me off but the seasoning on there was A++ I even bought a t shirt. Stopped in after 9p on a Friday for late dinner. Waited probably 10 mins for a table. We have been here a few times but it's been almost a year. We got some of our usual dishes. The karaage, skewers and chirashi. We tried the pressed sushi and did the half and half. Half tuna and half salmon. It was ok. For dessert we squeezed in the donuts. They were good. Went here for a celebratory dinner and I was blown away by this unique experience. Upon entering I immediately noticed how cool the decore and ambiance of the restaurant is. Felt like I was transported right to Japan! The restaurant itself is smaller in size. I went on a week night for dinner and did not have to wait, however I can imagine during the weekends it can get filled. As for the food, some of the most delicious, unique food in all of Orlando, without a doubt. While the portion sizes are on the smaller and pricey (only reason for removing one star), it's great for a tapa styled dinner where you and friends order several plates and share among the table. I had the mentaiko udon, char-grilled tako salad, wagyu gyoza, and the tuna katsu. The udon noodles were so fresh and fish eggs provided a very unique texture. The char grilled tako salad was probably the most unique food I had there. While I love octopus, I've never had it full length leg like it was here. I will say it was hard to rip apart, so I ended up biting into each leg full, which was a bit awkward at times, but it was still delicious and tasty. The tuna was very fresh. Hands down my favorite item of the night was the wagyu gyoza. Unfortunately no picture of this item because the plate was gone in seconds! Only wish there was more gyoza in a serving. Been wanting to hit this place for a long time. I have been to their sister spot down near Universal. Susuru. We got here as they opened and sat at the bar. Best seats in the house. This is a small plates type of place so we orders up a few to share. Waygu Harumaki was a good portion but a bit greasy for me. Tempura Yasai was a large portions d well done. The curry sauce underneath it all was a hidden star. Oshizushi (pressed sushi) was the star. We had the combo so we could try both preparations. I lied the salmon due the richness of the avocado with the dried mushrooms and roe on top. My son liked the tuna preparation. Tried the King Ghidorah cocktail. Very refreshing. Protip. Love this spot! We are always pleasantly surprised by this location that moved into what was once a stand alone Pizza Hut. The parking lot is a bit finicky as you'll need to park nearby to Target with the shared lot that is pretty busy at times, but that is really the only negative thing I can say. Once you walk into the restaurant you are taken in by the theming and decor right away. The servers are always quick to greet you and within a short time have you seated and provided with a menu of the offerings. Haven't yet had something we didn't like, but I especially enjoy the chicken skewer and the dumplings. Yakitori is a MUST. They have some fun specialty cocktails that are unique to their location, so I'd suggest giving those a look if you are interested in an adult beverage. One of our favorite date night spots in Downtown Orlando! Juju opens at 5:30 and it makes the perfect date. Due to their popularity I do suggest getting there a little before 5:30 to avoid waits. I wanted to try Juju independently of knowing that it was Susuru's sister restaurant, but when I found out that was the case, I wasn't surprised at all. It's a super vibey spot featuring lots of small plates, so it's nice to just get a small group together and try a bunch of things. We got the Matcha mule - this drink was really good and refreshing but low-key stronger than I thought it would be. I wish the coconut milk flavor was a little stronger though. Ultraman - also really good, and has a nice bittery citrus aftertaste. Negima skewer - one of my faves of the night! The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. Teba wings - I liked the filling of these a lot, but the chicken part was just fine. It was fun to eat though. Mentaiko udon - the portions noodlewise of this were smaller than expected unfortunately. But of what you do get, you get a good amount of ikura and roe, resulting in a really creamy and salty (in a good seafood way) udon. So this was also a fave. Chicken karaage - this was also really good! They give a lot of chicken, and the outsides are really crispy, but the insides aren't dry. However, I wish they gave bigger pieces of lemon and a lot more sauce. Chashu gohan - Rice, sauce, pork belly, and egg yolk. Can't really go wrong with that! I really like the flavoring and the pork belly was so tender and delicious. It practically melted into the rice. Gohan - if you're gonna get a gohan, I would say just get the chashu one. This one is good but so plain when compared to the other. Tuna katsu - this dish was interesting. But idk if I would get it again. I like when my raw fish is cold, but after the katsu fry its more room temperature. And the sauce is good but so mild. Since the fish flavor is also so mild, it would have been nice to have something contrasting or something bright to pick up the flavors, like the way soy sauce or wasabi would. This is for the Hikiniku Lunch Pop-Up! Wow, what an experience. Chef Lewis Lin literally cooked with this special pop-up. The whole experience was a foodie's dream, and we were so lucky to snag a reservation when they were available. Decadent Wagyu hambagu, grilled to perfection over charcoal -- it's such a simple dish, but it packs so much flavor, depth, and richness. The first one, you eat alone to enjoy the flavor and determine if you want to eat anything else with it; the second you eat with rice and egg, with the option to get any additional add-ons. I loved picking through all the sides -- there was such a variety and everything tasted light and fresh. I particularly enjoyed the potato salad, braised eggplant, and yuzu jam. The meal also came with a Wagyu soup and melon sorbet at the end! The soup was light, but hearty; and was very satisfying. Melon sorbet is also such a perfect summer treat, and was the perfect end to a fantastic lunch. We left absolutely stuffed. If they do this again, I highly recommend going. read more

We have had this on our list for ages, but we're always worried it would be too busy to try, but we were pleasantly surprised the other night when we walked in on a Saturday and didn't need to wait. The atmosphere is a 5-super cute, I love the lower tables and different types of seating. There was a lot to look at, and I appreciated the nods to Pizza Hut in the glasses they kept! It's a little loud which I was ok with feeling like it added to the vibe but just as a fair warning. Everything food wise is tapas style small plates so prepare to share and try many things. The Wagyu gyoza flavor was a highlight. Would for sure get again. Nikujaga is a pretty large portion, and our server recommended a side of rice which we opted for. The miso flavor was wonderful-but I may not be as good with chopsticks as I had thought because things felt very hard once I put my rice in the beef stew like bowl to mix them together. Beef tenderloin kushiyaki- highlight 5/5 would eat again Chicken karaage was really my least fav of the evening, it didn't do anything for me at all. The dipping sauce was good though. JUJU is such a hidden gem!! Me and my friend had been shopping and wanted a quick bite after all the walking around. She recommended this spot and now I'm Obsessed ! It's a cute Japanese-style restaurant with such a cozy and stylish vibe inside I loved the whole setup. We had a reservation, so we didn't wait long at all which was a huge plus. As soon as we sat down, I noticed they had a happy hour menu (which I'm always down for lol). We ended up ordering the sakis, Korean pancake, Korean fried chicken, gyoza, 2 lychee drinks with Japanese spirits, and the corn on the cob. Everything was really good! We split the bill and it came out to under $40 each! Such a steal. The only thing I was sad about was that they were sold out of the rice balls, I was really looking forward to trying them. But honestly, that just gives me an excuse to go back to be honest lol. The service was amazing too. The staff was so sweet and helpful the whole time. Japanese food might be my favorite cuisine and Juju might be one of my favorite Japanese spots in town. It's fun, unpretentious, affordable, and the staff is made up of some of the nicest people. If you've never been here before, it's casual Japanese street food that is very comforting. This is the kind of place you bring friends that you want to catch up with and don't mind sharing a bunch of small plates with. I've tried nearly half of the menu at this point so I'll recommend my favorites from each category. Snacks: Chippu and Deippu which are chips and a butter + roe dip; Hamachi Kama which is a yellowtail fish collar - has a surprising amount of meat on it; Wagyu Gyoza - can't go wrong with potstickers; and Chicken Karaage (fried chicken). On their specials, I've gotten the Nikujaga multiple times - it's basically a beef stew; and finally, I've had Shoyu Smoked Duck once and it was cooked to perfect and absolutely worth your time! From the Raw section, all of these are winners: Chirashi, Hamachi Crudo, and Dry Aged O-Toro. I love this cut of tuna - it's dry aged for up to a month and becomes a buttery, yummy flavor. Under "Mini Bowl," without fail, I ALWAYS order the Susuru Gohan, which is just rice, with a seasoning and soy cured egg yolk, which I pair with items from the "raw" section or the "snacks." Or if I'm extra hungry, I get it the with the pork chashu to beef it up a little. My wife likes to get the Mentaiko Udon and I love to get big noodle pulls when we share. As for the cocktails, I really only have gotten two but I enjoy both: That Old Pizza Hut and the Juju Old Fashioned. The former is a playful homage to the history of the building (which was an old Pizza Hut) and is essentially their take on a whiskey sour; and the latter is just their take on an old fashioned. Both are delicious and good enough for me to not venture out and try other drinks In short, I love the casual vibe and ambiance of Juju; their staff is always great and the food and drinks are consistently on point. Juju has been in my bookmarks for so long and I finally got to try it. The rumor we always heard was that they didn't take reservations and with their popularity we thought it'd be hard to get a seat. To our surprise we went in and were seated right away. It's much bigger inside than expected too, they maximized on space without feeling cramped. With the help of AI and our waiter I ordered the Hitachino Nest "Yuzu lager" to drink and would order it again. Nice flavor on a hot summer day. Food wise we tried a few things: 1. Wagyu gyoza- flavor was good and a decent amount of meat inside 2. Nikujaga- like a beef stew and we got a side of rice which paired perfectly (once we mixed the two though a spoon would have made it much easier to eat.) 3. Beef tenderloin kushiyaki- top notch flavor who doesn't like a skewer? 4. Chicken karaage- probably the most underwhelming, their version of chicken tenders if I had to guess. You just simply can't go wrong with Juju! I love coming here and recently it looks like they switched their menu up some! I arrived about 30 minutes before it opened because I wanted to make sure we could get in and be seated instead of having to wait since they do not take reservations for standard seating. Everything that you order here is made fresh, so the food does take longer to come out but when it arrives it's well worth the wait! The most interesting food I had was the Okonomiyaki which is the Japanese pancake! It looks unappealing but it tastes so good! I'm sometimes particular about cabbage dishes but this one didn't disappoint! Another new menu item I tried was the yuzu street corn! Both are things that I adore on their own, so bringing them together was a fantastic call on Juju's part! I could've kept ordering these all day and had no regrets. Some classics that we had to get were of course the wagyu gyoza, the gohan and some tuna katsu. Our dessert stomach also was activated and we got the donuts which had some ube filling! I would say next time we would do just one order to share as it ended up being a larger portion than anticipated. Went here last night with friends in town - we got there early enough to be seated when we walked in. We ordered our drinks - I ordered my usual Lychee Chu-hai. Simple but so good. We then ordered some ribeye, sirloin, momo, pork belly, pork jowl, and tsukune skewers to start off with. Next we ordered the chirashi, wagyu gyoza, chicken karaage, okonomiyak, susuru gohan, and stuffed wings. My favorites were the okonomiyaki, karaage, tsukune with spicy mentaiko, and the chirashi. The rest were good too, the karaage was a hit amongst the table. It's a great place to hang out with friends and share bites. Our server was attentive and nice. Starting with their location and ambiance, the place is located in a large plaza so parking was very easy. The entrance is a little small, but once I was in, it was easy to see it was very clean and had plenty of seating. Their staff was very attentive, friendly, and inviting. Our waitress made sure our drinks were full and always had what we needed. It's also always cool when a restaurant has a section where you can see the kitchen at work. Lastly, their food. Being Asian myself, I had to have a side of rice. The Susuru Gohan is exactly what you would expect for a bowl of rice - sticky, flavorful, and as an added bonus, with a creamy egg on top. The duck was also delicious. It was tender, juicy, and the creamy sauce was a great compliment. The fried chicken was also really good. Although it's fried, it was still tender and juicy. Its saltiness was a great addition to the several dishes ordered. And finally, my favorite is perheps the salmon. It was very flavorful, tasted fresh, and felt like a high quality delicacy. *This review is purely my personal experience and not because I was invited to try out the omekase at Kappo Bar inside Juju. It usually takes a while before I give a restaurant a second chance but Angela, one of the owners, reached out to me. I can't express how awesome the customer service was to my first negative experience. It was a genuine communication, and that alone would have brought me back on my own. I'm really grateful I was able to get into the Kappo Bar since it seats 6 people. I didn't have any expectations, but it happened to be my birthday weekend so this was a memorable event. Upon arrival, I was greeted cheerfully, even though I was 10 mins late due to traffic. I was seated promptly by the server and when the service started he gave me a special birthday mocktail, which was so refreshing with a hint of mint. Can I just say he was truly an attentive, skilled, and efficient server! Again, the space is cute and trendy with Japanese decor. There's a fun yet cozy feel. It was quiet when I first arrived but quickly picked up with patrons at the bar before tables filled up. I've always looked for casual yet sophisticated vibes in a place, and this one is one of them. I will have to say I was happily surprised there's 17 courses in the omakase. I've been to quite a few omakase dinners globally, but you're getting generous portions along with an abundant array of dishes here. Honestly, not every dish was a hit and this review would take too long if I mentioned all of them. So, I'm going to tell you my favorites. My favorite would be the egg custard with crab and scallops. It was velvety in texture and the combination was exquisite. I also noticed they like to use corn to be the sprinkle of sweetness in their dishes, which is what I love! Next, the selection of aged fish really stood out because it wasn't the standard fresh fish everyone is familiar with. You can definitely taste the different layers of flavor that's unique to the aging process. I thought the sunomono twist with squid and sea urchin was an interesting balance of savory and vinaigrette zest. What really was an unexpected surprise would be the cornfed chicken in a lemony broth with trout roe. It was so brilliant because of the pop that came from the fish roe. By the time I got to the Waygu, veggie & mushroom fried rice, I was beyond full but I didn't want to stop eating! When we got to the finale, there were even two desserts. The watermelon shaved ice and a scoop of extremely interesting ice cream. It was one of those flavors that reminded me of an herbal medicine. I can't figure out why it worked but it did. The second dessert was a green tea cake with dollops of mascarpone. I could eat a bowl of the mascarpone by itself, because it was so delicious! This last dessert was accompanied by a piping hot authentic matcha green tea. It had just the right bitterness to bring out the flavor of the cake. Although I loved the bold and savory fish soup, I did stumbled across a few tiny bones. I still enjoyed the silken texture and flavor. Not everything was a hit, but for the amount of food you get with the omekase, the knowledge you receive through the chef's explanation, the excellent service, and the mental note to bring friends to share the experience with me in the future--all the little misses was part of the charm. After giving this place another try, I feel like this is one of those spots I can see myself returning to again. Whether it's the bar or omakase, I hope Juju continues to grow and flourish.
