This spot is cute but it's small! They line all of their furniture against the wall so there isn't much 'dance room'. There's two bars but not that much space. Truth be told, I've often went to the other bars and clubs that are right next to this establishment, but never been to this one. It's very nice and very upscale. It gives a luxury and it gives a very classy look. A friend of mine went in here for their happy hour on Wednesdays and we ordered a couple of happy hour drinks. She ordered the old fashion and I can't remember what I ordered, but it was absolutely delicious. I went on later to order the old-fashioned myself and that was really good. We ordered the buffalo pizza which is listed below, but a few minutes after we ordered the Philly cheesesteak pizza and it wasn't as good as the buffalo but still delicious. I remember this place when they just opened. It was classy. Today this place is totally different. This past Saturday I had tickets from eventsbrite for their happy hour and mimosa event. At the entrance nobody knew about it. At the bar I waited 15 mins, while the bartenders were doing their thing totally ignoring my friend and I. My friend just wanted to leave, but I finally asked one of the bartender girls about the so called event we RSVPed to, and she admitted that they were doing mimosas. We did get two rounds of mimosas and I made sure to tip the bartender. But the whole time I had this feeling that they were annoyed by providing service to us, and didn't really want to be there. This place was AWESOME. I am a sucker for unique cocktail bars. I'm also an EDM fan so this bar really just ticked all of my boxes. I love the concept of an actual listening room. And what was so neat about it was that the acoustics in the room felt as though you were at an actual concert. You could feel the vibrations in your bones, but without it being too loud! It was excellent. The bartenders were incredibly nice. The drinks were awesome. Unfortunately I can't remember what my partner drank, but I got the Vuela Vuela which was a sweet coconut drink and I was in love. I really really wish we had something like this in Houston. 4 stars for a beautiful new cocktail bar in downtown Orlando! The space has some beautiful couches and chairs to hang out in. There's a happy hour menu until 7 pm (Tues to Sat), with different drinks that are $10. Normally all cocktails are $15, they have other selections of wine and beer too. We ordered from the happy hour, I went with an old fashioned and my husband got the penicillin. Both really packed a kick! The penicillin has monkey shoulder and some other aged Scotch. My old fashioned was made with Benchmark Bonded bourbon. Love that they play music on records and there's comfortable seating in many areas! Proper brings sophisticated lounge to Orlando. We have clubs, bars, bars with food but Proper brings a new experience that we were dying to have! A space dedicated to eclectic music, different DJ styles, comfortable seating and cocktails. We enjoyed Friday happy hour as one of only a few people, while the DJ spun a cross between jazz and soul and eventually picked it up with some old school hip hop as crowds got bigger. The bar tenders checked on us and served us at the lounge area we were sitting at and were very attentive considering the amount of people that started to fill in. I noticed in a previous review that there was no food at the time they reviewed. We did have a great charcuterie cheese board by the local La Femme Du Fromage" out of East End Market. I love when local places partner to support each other! So, it's a bite and not a meal, but honestly the vibe here doesn't scream they should have food in the first place. We had a wonderful evening vibing to different genres of music and really great cocktails. I'd say this place is for the "Grown and Sexy" who don't want a club but love music and a drink. Came here for RnB night after a Magic game on a Sunday. This place was really good. Shitty part was that there was no real signage so I went in line for what I THOUGHT was Proper and def was not . Paid a cover to a place next door and was meeting my wife and her friends so I went in line and was a $10 cover and I thought "why the fuck she didnt say shit about a cover?" So I paid it and went in. Nothing but ass bouncing and smoke in there. Now here I am wondering why she's in THIS PLACE lol. Looked around for a minute, passing all the bullshit around me like no fuckin way shes in here and there is zero RnB happening . Asked bartender, by asking I mean yelling. I attended a preview of this location a while back. Overall, the theme of venue is cool, but I was disappointed in the selections. They have very limited food for a full bar. If you do come here, I HIGHLY suggest eating before or making plans to eat after. For one drink, I paid around $20 +tax. It was a little much for me, but it was good. For seating, they have reserved tables/couches for guests, which is an additional cost (unless that has changed). There is some bar seating, but there is mostly standing only. Parking is a bit of an adventure since it is downtown so plan to pay for parking in a parking garage or circle around for a street parking for a while. The ambiance is great! As I said, the theme is really cool and I collect old records in my free time so I loved it. I'm hopping they start to play more oldies or songs people know as well as the indie music they had at the time. Service was great! The bartender was very nice during my visit. It very reminiscent of a vinyl listening bar and the DJ being right in the middle being the main focus is a great touch. It's a beautiful atmosphere and if you're looking for something fun but not too crazy with nice aesthetics it hits all the marks. Music isn't overwhelming loud so you can still maintain a conversation. It's perfect for a date night or if you have a group of friends with you. For dress code I'd say slightly above casual would be acceptable. Their cocktail menu isn't the biggest but the atmosphere makes up for the lack cocktail options. The bottom line, this is great fun spot and for someone like me who doesn't care for clubs but likes good music and drinks with some nice aesthetics this is the perfect spot. I would go to Proper Orlando again. I think it's such a unique concept to play vinyl all night long. We tried three cocktails: Coastal Grooves, Easy Easy, and the Strawberry Switchblade. Both Coastal Grooves and Easy Easy were quite refreshing with hints of citrus. Coastal Grooves was more fruity with a little pineapple. Each of these house cocktails was priced at $15 dollars. When closing the bill, an automatic gratuity was included. As I went at night on a busy weekend, I would suggest making a reservation if you plan on spending more time there. My group didn't have a reservation, we managed to find seats at some point. After a while, though we did have to move from the seats, the staff was polite about it though. Despite the limited space, the bar's decoration was pretty. The cozy, clean, and classy ambiance enhanced the overall experience. The music volume was a little loud which made conversations somewhat challenging. All in all, I had a positive experience at Proper. I would return during happy hour to try more drinks. Proper is a vinyl listening room serving craft cocktails. Think Gatsy in Downton Orlando. I love this bar, it's so pretty, especially the decor. This is so unique to the Downtown Orlando scene, they stand out even with all the other bars surrounding them. Perfect to get dressed up and have a night out. I don't go downtown for the nightlife very often, but when I do, Proper is now my go-to spot. I'm definitely not a club gal, so I love the chill, luxe vibe of this place. They also have a rotating DJ collective each night and the tunes are always on point. There are two large bars inside, so getting a drink is pretty quick and there are plenty of cozy couches and lounge areas. I typically go on the earlier end of the night, so I haven't seen what it's like after midnight, but it's perfect for happy hour, a nightcap, or some Sunday Funday action. I always order their espresso martini that they make with tequila (which I prefer). It's so good. I've also gone with friends that don't really drink and they had some good mocktail options as well -- love to see it! Seating is plentiful and well laid out. I love a bar without any pinch points when you're trying to move past people. Sophisticated, sexy, swanky. Those are the words that come to mind when I think of how to describe Proper. When I arrived on a Sunday at 2pm with no reservation I anticipated having to wait in a long line to gain entrance, but to my surprise, my boyfriend & I were the only ones there and practically got the whole joint to ourselves for the entire duration we were there. FYI: Although it shows on Google that they open at 1PM on Sundays, be advised that it may not be accurate (they really opened at 2PM and they told us they were testing out their hours), so it might be a good idea to double check first before making your way there. The ambiance inside is extremely aesthetically pleasing and will make you want to spend your entire evening chilling in one of their comfy plush chairs/couches sipping on one of their intricately crafted cocktails. What sets this spot apart from the rest is that they classify themselves as a "listening room" where they have hundreds of vinyls on hand they play, with the genres ranging based on what each DJ selects. So depending on when you visit, you might hear 80's rock one evening, hip hop the next and house on another. It definitely is a breath of fresh air to the downtown area and offers a unique, fun lounge experience that you really can't find anywhere else in the vicinity. I ordered an espresso martini and it was prepared just the way I like it: not too sweet and without baileys (if you prefer baileys I'm sure their be able to accommodate you). My boyfriend tried out the bonita applebum and enjoyed it (I tasted it and loved the touch of apple but it wasn't overwhelming). I had just come from brunch so I didn't have an appetite, but I noticed they offer "charcuterie boxes" so I'm going to make it a point to order it on my next visit. If you're looking for a bar/lounge to go downtown, this is it. My girlfriend and I had brunch and wanted to do some Sunday funday so we decided to finally try our Proper and we weren't disappointed. We got there right when they opened up (it's 2pm not 1pm like it says on google) so luckily for us there was nobody there yet and could sit where we wanted. The staff was all very friendly and was quick to drop off menus and take our drink order. The server explained to us that it was a listening bar and that the DJ played all their music off of records which was pretty cool. It gave off a modern look with a speak easy vibe. They don't serve food and we didn't think to ask if we would be able to bring some in because we just ate before going. I ordered the Bonita Applebum and it was strong but very good. I would said It say it was close to tasting like an Old fashioned with apples and cinnamon. I'm sooooo happy something like Proper is in downtown. I'm not a big club person anymore, so a swanky bar with great tunes and a place to hang with my friends is perfect for me. So incredibly excited that local legend Rene Nguyen of Hansons Shoe Repair is the man behind this new concept. The space is tastefully put together with a great color scheme, thoughtful details and I always love a lil patio or outdoor seating! The walls behind the DJ booth are filled with records and the little On Air light is a great touch. Obviously my favorite part was the bubbly yellow couches! We came on the Thursday before opening night as guests for media night and we had such a nice first hand look at Orlando's newest listening bar! Vinyl spinning DJs will be in rotation along with resident selector DJ Nigel John aka @blacksuede66 on Instagram. They feature different styles of cocktails but the tequila Espresso Martini on tap immediately caught my attention. Went here on a Friday evening with some friends to celebrate a birthday. We got there fairly early (before 7). I read a review about the dress code so the whole group made sure to follow it, but there was a guy in front of us wearing jorts and a jean shirt so I don't know if they're so strict about the dress code. We made it in time for happy hour and ordered some drinks from the bar. I started with a specialty cocktail, then ordered a Paloma. Drinks were tasty. They had tables that you could reserve. My husband checked and it was $25 per person (for the seat, does not include anything else). If you don't reserve, I think the options are standing or possibly some seats outside. The cocktails are delicious, I have had their espresso martini and their Moscow mule, both very good and strong :). I do have to say that when it gets busy you do have to wait in line for others to come out. The concept of this lounge is that the DJ for the night will use the vinyl records to play music, I love it! It is small, there are these couches next to the bar but you have to consume a mild $35 in order to sit down here.
