Jazz Tastings in Maitland continues to be one of my favorite spots for live music in the Orlando area. There aren't many places where you can consistently enjoy live jazz, great food, and a cozy atmosphere all in one place. I visited on a Saturday during Magical Dining and tried their three-course menu for $40. I ordered the Crab Bites as my starter, the Chicken Pasta for my entrée, and the Bread Pudding for dessert. Everything was really good, but the Crab Bites were easily my favorite! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. If you're an Orlando native, you may remember how small Jazz Tastings used to be. They've since doubled in size and updated their menu, moving away from their previous tapas-style offerings to full-size entrées. The space still has that intimate, cozy feel, though, which makes it an amazing date-night spot. Of course, the live music is the highlight. The band was great, and I love that Jazz Tastings keeps a calendar of upcoming performers and events, so you can plan your visit around who you'd like to see. A couple of things to know before going: weekends can get busy, so reservations are highly recommended unless you're able to arrive really early. They also charge automatic gratuity on weekends, along with an additional service fee on Fridays and Saturdays, so just keep that in mind when planning your visit. Overall, Jazz Tastings is a great choice for a date night or a relaxed night out with friends, especially if you want to hear some talented local artists while enjoying good food and drinks. Grown and sexy vibes was the theme tonight as we came here to listen to live jazz and have a few drinks. Located in Maitland, this lounge is for the mature crowd. Ambiance is dark and sets a perfect mood for a romantic night out while listening to live music. Every Wednesday evening the saxophonist and his band perform and let me tell you, all The ladies in the building were feeling him play that sax lol ! He is very talented and there was also an artist doing live paintings that you can purchase throughout the set. Drinks were amazing and they do also serve food like steak and chicken and have desserts. We ordered a few drinks which were really good. We went on a Thursday and didn't realize its ladies night AND its throwback Thursday. All the music was from 60/70/80/90 and jazzified The food was on point! Crostini appetizer and the bang bang shrooms and just wow what flavor and so many meaty mushrooms We also tried the shrimp & grits which was creamy and large shrimp with a bayoo flavor to it. The band playing was really great sound, vocals and amazing artist. We'll definitely be going back to check out more music and food! The venue isn't huge, which is nice. I regret I haven't been back since all the renovations. This place is awesome--from the food, to the atmosphere, to the drinks, to the service and most of all the music!! Just wow! They now participate with the In Kind app where you can get discounts and specials too. Their Happy Hour has lots of "small" bites that aren't small. Happy Hour is from 5:00 - 7:00. The music starts at 6:30. We ordered the wagyu beef sliders and they were so packed with flavor. Excellent choice. We also ordered the calamari--another great choice. Finally we got the French Onion Soup off the main menu. It was the best I've ever had. It had the right amount of bread with cheese to go with every bite of the onions and broth. Declicious. And it was steaming hot! We stayed long enough to have room for dessert and we are glad we did. The carrot cake was huge and moist with a not too sweet cream cheese frosting. Also--no raisins. We had family visiting from out of town, and we wanted to do a fun activity together. It was our first time going to Jazz Tastings, and after our visit, it certainly will not be our last. This jazz lounge is tucked away in an unassuming shopping plaza. You're greeted by a red carpet at the entrance. When you enter, there are some nice round booths and other tables available with a view of the stage. The music was awesome. During our visit we saw a Grammy nominated trombonist along with a great drummer, bass player, and keyboardist. The music was great and had everyone dancing in their seat, with even a few dancing in the aisles. The food was also excellent. I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't have super high expectations, but the food beat my expectations. We shared some calamari, a spicy sautéed shrimp appetizer, and crab cake. They were all very tasty. Everyone ordered something different as their entree. We were all pleased with our meals. I ordered the Steak Frites. The steak was tender and juicy, and the truffle Parmesan shoestring fries were perfect. For dessert we shared the bread pudding à la mode and a slice of carrot cake. That banana bread pudding was phenomenal and the carrot cake was also really good. Our server was also very nice and did a great job handling our larger group. We reserved a table on a Wednesday and arrive at the end of Happy Hour. They had discounts on beverages and appetizers. I had the tempura mushrooms and hubby had shrimp with buffalo sauce. I've always wanted to come in and finally made the decision to check it out! Im so glad I did! We came for happy hour, lots of sharable plates, and dessert + drinks on a casual Thursday. Parking was not an issue. We were greeted immediately and given water and drink orders right away which was great. Honestly I didn't even know who my server really was because everyone was so hands on and helpful! The vibe was super cozy and cute. Live music was absolutely fantastic. It was decades night and such a great experience for our first time. I loved there was no cover on the weekdays! Super plus in my books looking for something local! Jazz Tastings was very demure & had classy vibe! This is definitely a spot where you could unwind and still have lots of enjoyment. The food was excellent shout out to the chef! The Music was fantastic and interacted with the crowd. The crowd was showing love through gratuity and sending them rounds of shots. We saw Jarred Armstrong and the rest of the band play and they were amazing! Service was great and my sever was very attentive. For the drink, I got their version of a French 75 and for my entree, the blackened chicken pasta. I got there earlier in the night during the happy hour and was able to get the calamari half off as an appetizer. The food and drinks were really good as well. In my opinion, the pasta could have been shared between two people because there was that much of it but it's definitely a good bang for your buck. I recommend visiting JazzTastings, especially on a Tuesday night. It was free entry, but with a $25 per person in purchases I read later. Easily done with their fabulous deals. Bottled wines are half off on Tuesday nights, & there's a burger & brew special for $15 which was absolutely delicious; I was surprised. I ordered my burger medium rare. For the first time in a long time, the burger toppings were substantial & so flavorful. That was an incredible tomato slice, with red onion, lettuce, pickles... I ordered everything that comes with it. The beer was a new one to me, tasted rich like amber or caramel, & a bit citrusy, sort of like a Jai Alai IPA. To top it off, the fries were DELICIOUS! They were not overcooked, & they were all seasoned. Ketchup was in a little ramekin. Super good, & disappeared quickly down my gullet. The show was oh my gosh, FANTASTIC! There were great singers. The band was jamming sooooo GOOD! WOW! I shared wine with the table, great purchase, all of it!! The sweet staff was amazing, really knowledgeable & if she wasn't sure, she'd find out. I had an excellent time at Jazz Tasting! We were very lucky because at the time we showed up there were only two spots open! We sat next to the stage, which you would think would be a bad seat, but we had the time of our lives seeing the joy of the keyboardist. On this evening, The Franchise Players were performing and the range of this band was astonishing! They went from classical Jazz to covers of Earth, Wind & Fire, Marc Anthony, James Brown, Bruno Mars and 2Pac, to name a few! Oof! They gave us a show! The service was excellent! Christopher was attentive, kind, and never lost the smile on his face. We asked him for food recommendations and he did not steer us off! The Norwegian Salmon, Braised Short Rib and Crab Cake were incredible! Our plates were clean when we were done eating. The presentation of the plates was also beautiful! The place is small and reservations fill out quickly, then it becomes first come, first serve. But the vibes are perfect. People stroll in and out between sets, so don't feel discouraged if you have to wait a bit. I will say, things do get pricey during the weekend. There's a cover charge of $10/person, a minimum spend of $50/person and an implemented gratuity of 20%, regardless of party size. I've been here a couple of times already, always on a Thursday as a walk-in and I love it every single time. We have no problem getting seated right away. It's such a small and intimate space. Everyone there is always having a good time. The bands are always so great and entertaining. I always order the Blackened Chicken Pasta 10/10 my fave. Tia is a fantastic date night venue. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is located in a nice area in Maitland. We were traveling to Orlando for a day and we had all of our belongings in the car. It's a safe area. We had no issues with our belongings. We arrived for the first seating at 7pm. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their lovely hostess Olivia and received a complimentary sparkling water. The first set begins at 7:30pm and the music is amazing! The crowd is very diverse. The wine selection is great. I ordered a bottle of Pinot. My husband was able to order a rum punch. Food was amazing. We had the crab cake and sweet chili calamari. I was surprised to find jalapeños in the calamari dish. It was delicious and everything cooked perfectly! Our entrees were the filet trio and blackened chicken pasta. The servings are generous. Am highly recommending the filet trio. The meats were perfectly cooked. Dessert was the bread pudding. Amazing! Would like to thank our server Olivia. She was very attentive and sweet. She kept returning to our table to check on us and see if we needed anything. Pricing is about $150 per person and absolutely worth it! Not a huge deal but who's getting the tip? If it's the band I'm ok with it but the bartenders don't disclose or tell you. Review your bill. The food..OMG, where to begin? The Cajun Shrimp Scampi and Truffle Lobster is a great start. We also had the Norwegian Salmon which hubby and I shared. On Tuesday nights, they also offer half off bottles of wine, can't beat that! My wife got the steak frites and I scored another deal, $15 for a burger and beer. Shrimp and Grits - the grits was very good. Shrimp was salty, but they were big shrimp though. Blackened chicken and pasta was wonderful. It was fully cooked and I really loved how everything wasn't overwhelming in the dish. My BF thought it was very bland and very oily. A little pricey, but not terrible. You could totally eat before and come for drinks without any problems. There is a $10 service charge and $25 minimum spend on the food/drinks. Service: Pretty good overall. OH MY GOODNESS! I had an amazing experience! If you've ever watched the movie "Love Jones" that is exactly how the vibe felt! As soon as we walked in my partner, and I walked over to the bar and ordered drinks while they prepared our table. I went for my birthday with my husband on Thursday night. We got the carafe off Sangria for $30 which was delicious and lasted us through the evening The service was friendly and attentive. Such a hidden gem in the Maitland area. I came to support one of the local bands in the area and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so nice. As you enter the lounge, I was greeted by the hostess who sat me immediately. They also have the option to make reservations thru Open Table. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have half off appetizers (happy hour). I had the calamari, a pomegranate margaritas, and the blackened salmon PLT. Such a delicious choice and seasoned very well. The salmon wasn't overcooked and fries were great. The calamari was delish! Heck this amazing spot out on first Thursdays for live band action.
