I've been wanting to come here for quite a few years, but I never seem to make it to downtown Orlando. On this trip, we finally made it a point to go. Unfortunately, it didn't go exactly as planned. Our friends wanted to arrive at 7, but the burlesque show didn't start until much later. The drinks are expensive, so there was no way we were going to hang out for three or four hours waiting for the show to begin. That said, this was definitely a fun experience. Riding up the elevator and entering through a hidden handle tucked into a bookshelf immediately set the tone. There was a small table with a typewriter where someone apparently sits and writes poems -- I would have loved to see that in action. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is a bathtub filled with faux rose petals. Everywhere you look, the space transports you to another era. We wandered around for a few minutes while my girlfriend shared some of the building's history, then ended up at the bar since most of the open seating was already reserved. We ordered espresso martinis and an Old Fashioned. The drink prices definitely reflect the atmosphere, so just be prepared for that. We stayed for one round and had every intention of coming back later, but we never did. I'd call that a fail on our part -- there's always next time, and I'll gladly make a trip back.

Checked out Mathers for an office happy hour close to the office. We love the vibe and decor inside as very old times but classic. There used to be a hidden door book you had to find to open the speakeasy but they have replaced it with a regular knob. Drinks are always amazing and our waitress was very good at remembering what we had despite being such a big group! My only complaint is that they only really have pretzels, and charcuterie for their food options. It would be nice to have some warm bites to accompany the drinks as well on top of this. Overall love the esthetic and will be back for their drinks!

SERVICE: 5 FOOD QUALITY: N/A DRINK QUALITY: 5 ORDER TIME: 5 AESTHETICS: 5 NOISE LEVEL: 5 MENU SELECTION: 5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 5 Mathers Social Gathering is a speakeasy that nails the concept perfectly. Hidden on the 3rd floor behind a trick bookcase in a mini library, you feel like you've stepped straight back into the Prohibition era the moment you walk in. Low lighting, soft music, and warm, welcoming smiles set the tone. Seating is first-come, first-serve on plush leather couches, or you can grab your drink at the bar and stand. Their menu is diverse with something to please almost anyone, but the standout for me was the Bathtub Gin, easily one of the best gin cocktails I've ever had. If you're lucky enough to visit when their corner bartender Blake is working, ask for something from his private menu. It's a guaranteed win every time. Hands down, this is the best speakeasy in Orlando, possibly in the nation, and it could even rank among the best cocktail bars anywhere. Burlesque night on Tuesdays is always a blast and a midweek highlight worth experiencing. Side note... they have a dress code so ensure you look it up before just popping in.

Each year, Mathers adds two holiday drinks during the Christmas season. This was one of their options for 2025

Super fun "speak easy" lounge. We go here every year for Christmas and it does not disappoint when it comes to vibes. Servers are decent. Not the most friendly but I'm sure it is a tough job sometimes making these specific cocktails. Definitely recommend going during the holidays, but also, a great place to check out after a show at Dr Phillips!

This is such a cool place. They check your ID when you walk up. I was tickled to show my ID!!! The ambiance is absolutely gorgeous. The drinks are fantastic as well. We had the charcuterie board which was great, but a little pricey to me.

We came in for happy hour and Christmas vibes and had a good experience. The ambiance is absolutely incredible and service is good. For my first drink, I got the phoenix. It was a little light, but had great flavors of jalapeño, mango, and elderflower. For my second drink, I got the dirty martini. The martini was good and strong. They were out of the blue cheese olives and told me when they brought the drink to me. I was a little disappointed that they couldn't let me know till after the drink was made. I would have probably changed my order. They also charged me $2.00 for the blue cheese olives they didn't have. My friend and I both got the soft pretzel and it was absolutely delicious! So warm, soft and salty. We loved the mustard and fig jam served with it. Overall, we had a good time and I'm definitely coming back.

Place is everything you would want for an event classy, great service, & spectacular atmosphere. Haven't tried the food yet but we will in the future. Mathers Social is Also a Speak Easy that at times requires a password. This place is highly recommended.

It's been such a long time since I have visited Mathers and in the last week was able to go twice! The holiday decor is up which was such a nice and cozy touch. They also have two holiday drinks that you can try. The aspen drink is a yummy treat but strong! Our server was so quick and friendly. She promptly got our drink orders and checked on us often! We went a littler earlier in the evening so there wasn't a line to get in- which I love. We got to catch the burlesque show which was a fun surprise since we weren't expecting to catch it. The espresso martinis were delicious as well!! I had a great time and the music was catchy without be too loud.

Mathers has a happy hour! How amazing was it to find out this chic speakeasy has a craft cocktails happy hour. The service is excellent, and it's a perfect date or friends outing. I look forward to returning.

Place was a nice hidden gem. There was a speak easy on the top floor and a jazz club on the second. The speak easy was my favorite and there was a great saxophonist playing classics like ghostbusters. The staff were friendly and drinks came out quickly.

BLUBERRY BASIL GIMLET vodka, blueberry basil blend, lime, fizzy water ESPRESSO MARTINI vodka, coffee liquor

The speakeasy vibe at Mathers is unmatched -- from the secretive entrance to the vintage decor, it feels like stepping into another era. The cocktails are top-notch (highly recommend the espresso martini, bathtub gin, and basil gimlet), and the bartenders really know their craft. Great for date nights or small groups. It can get crowded on weekends, so come early if you want a seat. Dress code is enforced, so leave the sneakers at home. Worth the hype! Would highly recommend.

The place had a great vibe. This place is a speakeasy bar. The place looks very nice. Is free to get in. On Saturday nights, they have a burlesque show, sadly I missed the show. The bartender makes specialty drinks. The service was great. I would recommend this place. Where you are seated there is QR code on the tables. Rolando and Guid was very informative of the different bars available.

Yes MSG! What a cool bar! It's supposed to be a "Speakeasy" style with a hidden door, but when we arrived, someone was coming out and we walked right in. There's a dude downstairs that gives you some instructions on how to enter. That's a novel idea, but it wears off quickly if there are people going in and out. Once you're inside, the vibe is classic cocktail bar right out of the past (I wish I knew what decade, but I'd guess the 20's/30's is what they're going for). The bar staff is dressed similarly to keep the theme going. The bartender was making drinks like a madwoman. Waitresses were bringing orders to her, she was serving us at the bar, and she didn't miss a beat. It was mesmerizing to see someone with that work ethic. She also seemed to be having fun too. The old fashioned's were great and one of the better ones I've had at a bar. And the fact that drinks were half price during happy hour made them even better. It was a Saturday and Happy Hour ran till 7p so we had a few. The other drinks we tried were good and different, but I may stick to more classic cocktails when we return. If nothing else, Mather's, we will return.

I could see lots of people bringing dates here. First up, I tried a $17 Tree of Life. The drink the bartender made me was maybe 2 sips. There's a giant ice cube and a bamboo leaf or something and very little drink to drink. Not sure what to make of this because as soon as I was deciding if I liked it or not, it was gone. Wouldn't order this again. Second, I tried a $17 Adam & Eve. I wish the matcha was much stronger. There's a place in Tampa called Tori Bar that has a super duper matcha tasting cocktail. This one was much lighter. It was fine, not my favorite. Maybe I'd bring a date here sometime, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

We were especially impressed that servers not tending to our table placed orders/knew of orders and communicated with the waitress serving us. Most restaurants struggle to keep orders ready with the designated server, this place EXCELLED with communication. We all enjoyed a variety of different cocktails, all of which were delicious (however a bit pricy for some) and all partook in appetizers and entrees. ALL of the food was delicious and had fair portions, couldn't say enough good things. This place is a bit cramped but not horribly, the decor is cute and everything is clean :) Most importantly, to celebrate the birthday we were brought a tres leches cake that paired very nicely with the pastelitos and cafecito service! The cake was DELICIOUS, the coffee was wonderful, and the experience was a highlight for a busy weekend of festivities! 10 out of 10 will be coming back again! :)

I just apparently still believe that when oysters and $47 pasta appear on a menu, one should be able to hear the person sitting across the table. To be fair, the service throughout the evening was excellent and attentive, and the bourbon drinks ("Filthy Behavior") were genuinely good. We also ordered the croquettes, Caesar salad bites, 12 oysters, the spicy rigatoni with lump crab, golden rice with shrimp, and a discounted prosecco because it was oyster/prosecco Tuesday. The pasta itself was cooked properly, and the golden rice ended up being the least salty thing we ate, which unfortunately made it the standout. Everything else tasted as though the kitchen had recently suffered a tragic misunderstanding involving seawater. At one point we asked if the music was usually this loud because we genuinely couldn't hear each other speak. Our server kindly said she would check on it, but either management said no or the DJ entered a blood oath with the sound system. Conversation had become theoretical. Maybe this is the vibe now. Maybe dining is no longer about the food and meaningful conversation, with lighting so oddly bright--less intimate dinner, more "the club is closing, please locate your belongings"--while paying $220 for two people with automatic gratuity included. For me, the whole experience felt wildly overpriced--ordinary food dressed in extraordinary.
