I visited Primo while staying at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. This restaurant is located Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, which is connected to the Ritz Carlton. The hostess sat us in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant has a modern and bright feel to it. I got the Primo soda, which was not too sweet, but flavorful, but it definitely on the expensive side. I was not too hungry, so I split the Farmer Salad (without bacon) and had some pizzas with the table. The salad was light and fresh, with crisp greens and just the right amount of tangy dressing. We tried the Margherita and the Bolognese pizzas. The Margherita was a bit floppy, but tasty while the Bolognese had a firmer crust and held together nicely. We skipped dessert, but they brought over tiny complimentary bites of flourless chocolate cake (or something similar to that), which was nice. Our waiter George was very nice. Altogether, Primo is a solid spot if you are looking for a quick meal in Orlando. I would recommend it if you are staying in the hotel and want to eat nearby. read more

Very busy for a reason! I would suggest making a reservation. We got very lucky and were able to sit at the bar. The food was delicious and we loved watching the bartenders make the drinks. I would 100% get the bread basket with 3 different types of bread with aged olive oil and balsamic - all were delicious! The meatballs were good but it was a blend of meats and I could taste Italian sausage which I wasn't a fan of, but if you like that then you would love it. I booked a table for one since I was dining solo while at the gorgeous Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes for my boyfriend's work conference. This wonderful restaurant is on the JW Marriott side of the enormous Grande Lakes property, which houses both huge convention hotels. Hungry, I arrived about 45 minutes early for my dinner reservation, but learned that I could dine at the restaurant bar if I didn't want to wait for a table. At the bar, I asked the friendly bartender which Italian red wine she recommended and she gave me a taste of the outstanding Il Fauno di Arcanum, a Tuscan red blend. I ordered a glass of it, and I am currently searching where I can purchase a bottle of it locally in Los Angeles. It was that good. A waiter surprised me with a delicious little shrimp amuse bouche from the chef! Savory and light. The Primo Meatballs appetizer was absolutely amazing: three large meatballs surrounded with lots of red sauce and a generous dollop of creamy ricotta. Actually, I was full after eating this, but I also ordered the Butcher's Pie pizza to go with it. The bartender and I laughed as the pizza was delivered to me. I assumed it would be a small personal pizza, but no, this was a full large pizza! That's okay, because I love pizza leftovers - that works, too! I ate a couple of slices, then took the rest to go and boyfriend and I had it for breakfast the next day! This restaurant has a Michelin, and everything I had was really good here. Everything appears to be very fresh and house-made. The service is good here, too. I will definitely come back on my next trip to Orlando, and try more dishes on their menu. read more

After some steamo at the spa, went to Primo to work my Jaw. This Italian restaurant at the JW Marriott was superb in every way. Excellent service in a bright (and a bit loud at times) atmosphere that had you feel like you were in Downtown Italy (is that a thing?). The Burrata Salad had peaches... WTF? Who puts cheese with peaches? A friggin' genius if you ask me. So good and refreshing. The mushroom arancini was also good and a bit heavier. The mushroom ragu was the best part! The Lobster Cacio e Pepe Bucatini was amaze-balls. The Florida Lobster was cooked perfectly and may have been the most tender lobster I've ever eaten (sorry Flavor Flav). The pasta bolognese was also a huge winner. I'd come back JUST for these dishes. The Pavlova chocolate mousse had me drooling like a dog. It was elegant and rich and flavorful, which is what you want in a dessert and in a travel companion (in case of an Alive situation). Excellent Restaurant at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando. Came for the first time tonight as it was listed on my Chase Sapphire OpenTable options but we had no idea it was located in the JW Marriott (the restaurant validates valet parking). It was super cute inside (especially the bar area with the plants) and we easily could've gone without a reservation on a Monday night. Our server made some great recommendations and we loved everything we had, especially the pork saltimbocca and pistachio canoli. I recently had dinner at primo restaurant at the Ritz, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is sophisticated but welcoming. Upscale yet comfortable. To eat, I had the meatballs for appetizers and they were delicious! Also had the margherita pizza which was also great. Tried the ceviche, and for dessert a pistachio cannoli, all highly recommend. The service took a little long, we also had a big group, but very attentive. The server made recommendations for desserts and cocktails, very warm and professional. We were staying at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes and made a reservation at Primo in advance of our trip for a Friday night. Surprisingly, the restaurant (and bar) were startlingly empty on the night we dined, and then switched to packed, reservation-only/no walk-ins two days later. Go figure. The restaurant is beautiful, with lovely outdoor space overlooking the lake and fireworks (when they're occurring) had it not been so hot. The staff was all exceedingly polite and friendly, with our server making great recommendations and discussing the area and the chef's other restaurant location in Maine. However, they did rush our dinner quite a bit. One of my dining companions was still eating her entree when they had cleared the rest of our plates and brought the dessert menu, which was incredibly off-putting. They weren't busy (that night), she was clearly still eating, and we hadn't been there that long, so I really didn't understand the behavior. If it hadn't been for that snafu, I might have given the restaurant five stars, but you can't be fine dining--with fine dining prices--without impeccable service. The menu varied quite a bit in price. Some of the entrees, like pasta were in the $20-30 range, and then other entrees, like duck, were $40+. I ordered pasta in part because that was what I was in the mood for and in part because I just couldn't imagine paying $45 for duck in Orlando. My pasta, the bolognaise was quite good. The server had recommended the meatballs, which we did not get, but I saw on someone else's plate and they looked amazing. The other pasta my dining companions ordered, with the chicken, which the waiter said was a staple on the Maine menu, was not my favorite. I did not really like the taste I had at all. We came back later in the night and had dessert at the bar. I ordered the cannoli's, which were truly amazing and a highlight. The shell was unique and quite sweet, but not in a bad way, with delicious flavors of pistachio and dark cherry balancing everything out. I would definitely order that again. I think if you're staying at the Ritz or JW Marriott, dining at this restaurant is a no-brainer, but I can't imagine coming here otherwise--I'm sure there are other, more accessible options in Orlando. I do wish they set some tables aside for walk-in guests of the hotel, though, because almost all the hotel's restaurants were impossible to get in on another night! read more

The place itself is beautiful. The decor and lighting give off a romantic, relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent, everyone was polite, attentive, and friendly. Our server checked in just enough without being intrusive. Unfortunately, the food was the complete opposite of the setting and service. Everything we ordered was bland, unappealing, and nowhere near worth the high prices. I had the Prodo which was a parmesan broth appetizer, it was warm but flavorless, with 3 pieces of pasta and accompanied by a combination of herbs that didn't work. We also ordered the meatballs and they were plain with no noticeable seasoning, only the marinara and cheese gave them any flavor. The $4 per person bread service was another letdown. The bread looked nice but was soft, bland, and lacked any crunch or toasting. As the main entree I had the Ricotta Cavatelli, by far one of the worst dishes I've had in years. It tasted like pasta in the same bland broth from my appetizer, topped with herbs that didn't work together and chicken that was plain boiled meat and soggy from the broth, I couldn't eat more than two bites and had to send it back, which I've done only twice in my life counting this time. I didn't want to risk ordering another bad meal, so I just took a couple slices from my fiancé's pizza. which was the only thing we could consider "decent" that night. We finished with an olive oil cake, which was just plain and forgettable. Before tip, the bill was almost $100, and that was without my plate being charged. Even so, the quality of the food did not come close to justifying that price, we felt like we just threw our money in a paper shredder. We were staying at the hotel for my fiancé's birthday and hoped for a special dinner to finish the evening and his birthday weekend sadly, the food completely ruined that. My oldest daughter took my husband, her sister's and myself here for Father's Day weekend. We were staying at the hotel. To start, they seated us up against a wall, so 1/2 of our table sat facing a plain white wall. The staff was mediocre with very blasé personalities. I've had better service at a Chili's restaurant! In total we were a party of 6. We started with ordering the bread service for each of us. I was expecting a delicious warm bread that was crunchy on the outside. Instead we each received a 1/2 of piece of dry, flavorless and cold bread. Of course the waiter bullsh*tted us with , "this is excellent bread made from a sourdough starter that has been aging for 32 years". We ordered 4 shrimp scampis entrees and 2 chicken Alfredo's entrees . The portions were very small and the food was very bland. I personally had the shrimp scampi and the shrimp had a very pungent and old flavor! The total was $326. I felt awful that my daughter paid for this terrible food and experience ! Went here for Birthday dinner, first off...parking is valet unless you park near tennis courts. The restaurants environment is very loud, need to yell to hear one another. For a Michelin Guide restaurant I was not super impressed, my pasta & lobster came out MAYBE lukewarm (at the most) and half way through eating it was already cold. This was the same with shrimp scampi and the pizza as well. When I booked for Primo, we weren't able to make it on time (scheduled it for 8pm instead) so we tried calling them multiple times to see if we could make it late to our reservation but it was hard to even get ahold of them. Primo is on the JW side of the JW/Ritz grande lakes. Beautiful restaurant, excellent service, quality food. Get the pork saltimbocca. Great flavor, perfectly cooked. Get the porcini aracini. I'd travel for this. Best rice ball I've ever had in my entire life. Not super mushroom-y but packed with flavor. Bread was also worth it- super fresh. Lobster cacio and Pepe was just okay. I prefer this dish with a little less pepper. It's fine, just not my favorite. Stellaluna cocktail was extremely overpriced ($38) and you get about 2oz of liquid. Cannolis were awesome. Pistachio and cherry with an almond shell. Unique but excellent flavor. Heads up: if you're using the Chase Reserve card open table credit this will code as the JW Marriott. You have to take a picture of the receipt and send it to Chase w your dispute!! read more

I attended the Primo x Campari Dinner Series, which I highly recommend to anyone who loves a tasting menu, like I do! This was a four course (+ amuse) menu, and each course included a paired cocktail. The event started in their garden with a champagne toast, before heading into the restaurant to start the meal. The farm-to-table aspect of the restaurant is great and really highlighted when you visit the garden. I am not sure if the menu changes each time, but after starting with an oyster topped with caviar, the menu featured hamachi crudo, artichoke salad, seared duck, and a chocolate pavlova. Be prepared to drink a variety of cocktails, too! There was a new cocktail with each course -- it is exciting to taste the variety of cocktails and how they pair with the course. I am an espresso martini girl, so that was my favorite, as per usual. The entire restaurant staff were super friendly and really completed this dining experience. Primo is a beautiful restaurant at the JW Marriott and a great spot for a fun night out. read more

We just stayed here at the resort and made a reservation for this restaurant. In short the food was mid and it also took an hour after ordering to arrive. It was just two of us. The pork was boring, small, extremely basic, and bland. The shrimp scampi noodles were clumpy & rubbery. The shrimp were pink nail size, gritty, and over cooked. Definitely would not recommend coming here. Only reason I give it 2 stars is because the environment was nice and staff were professional. read more

We were celebrating a friends birthday and had a group of about 10 people. As you walk in the ambience and decor is very nice and soothing. It was a Tuesday so it was pretty empty. With that being said we first ordered drinks and those came out pretty fast. We then ordered appetizers and food and that took well over 45 minutes to come out. To the point that we wanted to cancel the food order. Not sure why it took so long as I mentioned it was a pretty slow night. Food was good no complaints there. At the beginning we did as about splitting the checks and ended up talking to a manager that said they can only split the check three ways and we accepted that but when it was time to get the bill they only brought one check and said they couldn't split it and only thing that can be done is use 3 different forms of payment to split it which was not what we were told. So be prepared if ever coming with a large group. It was a nice dinner but just felt like for it being a slow night food took way too long making dinner last almost 3 hours. We really enjoyed our dinner here!! As locals we tend to not venture to restaurants in hotels too often but now we want to more! The remodel is gorgeous inside and we started it off with the tastiest corn soup! The flavor was wonderful and the nice waitress explained everything is from local farms. Which made it better! The meatballs were yummy and hot and fresh with the cool ricotta. The eye of rib was so flavorful and the bone marrow potatoes were unlike any we've ever had! I loved my fish dish, the savory fish with the vinigarette salad was a perfect combo! We didn't try dessert but next time we'd definitely get a cannoli. All in all 5 stars! read more

I was at the JW Marriott for a work event and had dinner at Primo. The service was exceptional from the host stand through to our table. Our waters were always kept full, the food never too long to come out, and the bar drinks were great. I ordered the corn soup and the braised beef tortelloni. The flavors were great and portion size were so filling. Our table also started with the octopus appetizer which was a hit. Our server brought out an amuse bouche of pimento cheese and pork rind after we were sat. It was a fun start with a seeming simple, but delicious taster to begin the evening. We live in the area and will consider this restaurant again. Pro tip: the restaurant has a wonder herb garden on the ground level below the restaurant and some herbs growing in planters on the balcony outside or the bar. It's worth a smell and appreciation if you have time. read more

We walked in and were greeted right away -- the service throughout was excellent. The meatballs and seasonal vegetables were very good. Unfortunately, the noodles and lobster came out cold and had to be remade, and the pizza was cold, stale, and burnt. The vibe is fancy but the environment is more on casual end in my opinion. The staff are of course professional and caring and definitely deserved special thanks for working through the holidays. The menu had a little bit of everything for everyone even as far as price goes. We settled on beer, wine, bolognese and lobster pasta. Portions were decent- small but typical for this price point. I just adore Primo. It's quickly become my favorite restaurant on the Grand Lakes property and my go-to place when I'm on that side of town. If you haven't been since their stunning remodel (see pics), then you're missing out! Ignore all the old photos before 2021 because everything is completely different now. The new interior is absolutely gorgeous. They also have a beautiful patio area that overlooks the new pool renovation at the JW Marriott. I decided to treat myself to a resort pass at the pool and then have dinner at Primo and it was the best little daycation getaway. I've been to the new & improved Primo a few times now and the food has been amazing every time. During this visit, we started with the dicuru burrata which was one of the most beautiful burrata plates I've ever seen. I loved all the accompaniments and that you could build your own little sammies. For our main entrees, we ordered the redfish (my husband loved) and the chitarra nero which is a squid ink pasta dish served with rock shrimp and sausage... soooo good! We always save room for dessert here because I am obsessed with their affogato. It's served with 2 scoops of ice cream, espresso, and 4 zeppoles (Italian donuts) for dipping. They are so light and fluffy -- the perfect ending to any meal. We're always so stuffed after we eat here, so it's nice to walk around the massive Grande Lakes property afterwards. There's a walking path that connects the JW to the Ritz, so sometimes we'll head over their for a nightcap. As locals, this is one of my favorite ways to spend date night and feel like you're on vacation for a few hours. read more

The restaurant is named after her grandfather, Primo Magnani. Primo underwent a major renovation in 2021 & is light & airy. You feel like you were whisked to a Southern Italian Villa. I sat @ the bar & the service was strong. The food & beverage arrived w/in an appropriate time frame. What I Ordered the Say Less Cocktail, Zellwood Corn Soup, Primo Meatballs, Oysters Oreganata, Bread Pudding Dinner service began w/ an amuse bouche. The tuna tartar w/ mango & avocado was a well-balanced, tasty bite. Say Less featured Appleton Estate Signature Rum, Amaro Montenagro, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, & lime. The drink lacked depth of flavor & did not make the components shine. The soup was amazing & memorable. I could have had a bowl of the corn relish alone. The whole kernels provided great texture & the acid from the relish cut through the richness of the crème fraiche. I wanted to love the meatballs & I did enjoy the fresh ricotta and scamorza cheeses. I was just looking for more flavor in the meatballs. The tomato sauce was solid but not memorable. The oysters were well prepared. I loved the herbaceous quality created by the oregano and the garden greens. A squeeze of the Meyer lemon accentuated the breadcrumbs, & I appreciated the generous amount of breadcrumb on top of the oyster. The bread pudding had nice subtle notes that went well w/ the bright basil-calamanzi coulis. I thought it was a fun play on French toast sticks and liked the slight crisp on the ends. However, I feel the dessert tasted more like banana bread than bread pudding. read more
