I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to City Buffet. After finishing up at the Walmart in Casselberry we needed a quick, affordable dinner for four people. I found City Buffet on Yelp, and it looked like it would meet our needs. The building is a little strange because it looks like a barn -- not the kind of building you would associate with Asian food. The landscaping is also not well maintained, which makes the place look neglected. My daughter said she had passed by it many times and assumed it had gone out of business. Happily, the inside looked much better. There was a mural of the Great Wall of China along one wall, along with chandeliers and colorful lighting. The hibachi station runs along one side of the room, while the buffet bars are located in the center. City Buffet was on par with pretty much every other Asian buffet I have eaten at. Cold foods included salads, sushi, seafood, and peel-and-eat shrimp. The hot food selection offered a good variety of hibachi items, fried favorites, and a mix of chicken, seafood, noodles, vegetables, and other dishes. Standouts for us included the dumplings, green beans, seafood bake, crab Rangoon, and coconut shrimp. They also offer a selection of soups if you're in the mood for something lighter. Dessert had plenty of options too: fresh fruit, Jell-O, pudding, small cake slices, and ice cream. One thing I really appreciated was that the ice cream comes in individual pre-packaged cups and bars, which is much more hygienic than the typical buffet setup. Unfortunately, the first ice cream bar we opened had clearly melted previously, but the others we sampled were fine. We all really liked the coffee-flavored cake, which tasted similar to tiramisu. Service was prompt -- almost too prompt. They were lifting plates out from under me as I was raising my fork to my mouth. A couple of times, they took plates before I had even finished with them. The strangest thing about City Buffet was the overwhelming and off putting smell of cabbage in the restrooms. I was very puzzled by what was going on with that. Overall, I would say your enjoyment of City Buffet depends on how much you enjoy this kind of buffet. My family does, so I am rounding up from 3.5 to 4 stars. read more

I've only been here once, and that was enough to know this wasn't going to happen again. The food was low quality and reminded me of why I didn't do Chinese Buffets anymore. Stopped at this restaurant in the middle of a long drive from Miami. Our journey had started early, so we didn't have a chance to eat breakfast so we were starving. We were excited to find a buffet, and though I must admit we were a little nervous of what we were gonna encounter. The minute you walk in, you know, you're in for a treat. The place was really clean the staff was smiling and buzzing around. And the restaurant was very well lit, I love me a bright restaurant. There was all the delicious Chinese food plates. You would expect the sushi selection was fantastically extensive, even better, it was being made fresh and constantly being refilled. The water didn't taste gross which is a big + for me living in Florida. The prize for lunch was under 20$ This was a pretty good experience. Some of the plates could have been a little warmer, and I did saw a kid helping himself to some ice cream, using his bare hands, but one may argue that was the parent's fault, not the staff. Nastiest food and experience ever. The only decent thing they had in there was the fried chicken. The wait staff and cooks were rude. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place unless you have an iron stomach and a palate of a 7 month old. The total was 75 for 4 people and we barely ate because it was so nasty. Had to take them on a tour to show them the dried out fish and oysters that look days old. Don't trust this place with your gut my people. I'm really going to call the health inspector on this place. I love going to this place whenever I crave their noodles, sometimes their food is inconsistent with taste but I guess that's the nature of most chinese buffets. The staff here is polite sometimes unfriendly but attentive at least. My bf's mom wanted to try this spot so we took her there along with other family members. We went for an early dinner. There is ample seating space inside and many buffet stations to explore. Our server was friendly and brought us refills of beverages and cleared used plates. There is a great selection of food here. I started at the sushi area. The sushi is decent, nothing outstanding, but not bad. They have your usual selection of basic rolls. The hot foods offered a lot of variety. There were hits and misses. I thought the beef and broccoli was pretty good. The fried fish was really yummy. Some of the chicken dishes I also enjoyed. It was sometimes hard to tell the names of dishes depending on which side of the buffet you were on (it would be great to see labels on both sides). Overall, I really felt there was good food at a very reasonable price and I would return. It's not the best, but it's always fun to experience different foods at a good price point. My realistic review is a solid 3.5, but I didn't round up to 4 because the bathroom was not very clean or well stocked. We've been to many buffets. This one fell far on our list. Some foods were slimy. Sushi wasn't labeled and didn't look fresh. You get Hershey's ice cream bars. We got the ribs and the inside of 1 was very pink (maybe not cooked all the way). Service was ok, no comments or complaints. Bathroom had multiple sinks but one bottle of soap. The soap dispensers didn't have any soap. We went on Sat early evening. Price is cheaper for kids 10 yrs old and younger (around $12). Adults around $16. Overall, I wouldn't go back. This meal brought me heavy nostalgic vibes considering growing up the Chinese buffet in town was always a fun family dinner experience. City buffet was exactly how I imagined it would be and perhaps even better. We didn't try the hibachi section they had which next time I will have to try, nor the sushi though it did like appetizing. The standouts for me had to be the fried prawns and the fried whitefish. Some items tasted like frozen foods fried which I expected and other items were a little on the dry side but ultimately I had 2 plates plus's a dessert plate with fruit I forgot to snap a pic of. I'd recommend coming for lunch (before 3:30) to save a few bucks but for $16 a person I can't say I felt ripped off. Soda was an extra charge but they also still had "sierra mist" instead of Starry hehe (at least on the receipt). Service was incredible, whenever either of use finished a plate they would swiftly remove and clean the spot plus refill any beverages. I'd like to go back again and try the sushi along with the hibachi section, but overall it brought me back to my childhood growing up with nearly identical food options and flavors, and for that I suggest a meal if craving some american chinese grub. read more

I got an ad for this place on IG so a few of us decided to check it out. It's $11.99 for lunch and $15.99 for dinner. We figured for $15.99 even if it was mediocre it was still worth the price. The buffet consisted of a hibachi station, sushi, your typical buffet Chinese food items, oysters, chilled shrimp, a section of American items (fries, chicken, etc) and of course desserts. There was a huge variety of food and I tried a lot of it! I did not try the hibachi which I kind of regret but I did get 6 or 7 different types of sushi and about 10 different items from the Chinese part of the buffet. Everything was pretty good, some of the sushi was kind of mushy but overall I definitely think it was worth the price. I always drive by City Buffet, which always looks packed so my husband and I decided to try it. We went for dinner and were greeted and seated right away. The buffet has the same look and feel as all the other buffets in the area and the same concept. Here, you will find your typical items: sushi, hibachi, Chinese and American food, and desserts. There was a lot of food. They kept bringing fresh food constantly so that was good. The food was good, nothing out of the ordinary, but it was a good deal for the price. The service was great. Having lived in Winter Springs for the past 7 years, I have driven by this place more times than I can count. always saying "Ooh one of these days I will check it out". That day happened to be father's Day, and they had a special price on all-you-can-eat crab legs. Although we didn't partake, everyone was charged the same price (17.99). Still not a bad price for the amount of food you get. While the quality is on par with most buffets, the freshness is definitely another level. Every single item was fresh, piping hot, and never empty for long. We tried the fried chicken, octopus, sashimi, macaroni, crawfish, fried rice, broccoli & beef, every single dessert they had, and more shrimp than I can remember LOL. The inside had ample seating, spread in a semi circle around the buffet area. The wait staff was very attentive, and our glasses remained full. Recently under new management and name. I wasn't here before the change but the buffet area looked to be pretty refreshed and in tip top shape. The dining area could use another round of TLC but perfectly fine. The staff was beyond nice. Really appreciated their attentiveness and courtesy. I did the once around and notice their shrimp and shrimp dishes looked fantastic. And I sampled most of them. Guess what? They've got great shrimp dishes. I'd say it's their highlight for sure. Definitely better than anywhere else in Orlando. Hey, every buffet should have a highlight/spotlight. City Buffet is definitely shrimp! Pretty much everything else is pretty good. Good takeout or better quality. I didn't hit anything bad or off putting or spoiled or ... You know the complaints you see on buffet reviews! No, for a Saturday lunch, everything was fresh and the right temp. So far, this is #3 best in Orlando and a solid B+. This is a pretty good buffet style restaurant with huge variety of delicious food. Sushi are very good here. I think they have about at least 10 different options. Very good variety of Asian soups, my favorite is hot and sour. Variety of Asian favorites like General Tso, Coconut Shrimp (pretty good), beef with broccoli and so many more. They have variety of seafood options, including crawfish Fruits are very delicious and chocolate mousse is my favorite. They also have variety of cakes and individually wrapped ice creams. Upon entering the restaurant, I felt sensed a nice environment with abundance of varieties of food with more than 9 different stations of hot, cold and raw food. I was seated immediately by the waitress and my drinks order came within a minute. The restaurant was extremely clean and organized. The food stations were also organized with full levels of hot steamy foods and ice fully over the raw shrimp and mussels. I tried 2 crawfish first and to my surprise it was flavorful and still fresh does not taste like it was frozen long! Big plus! The salty shrimps were seasoned perfectly and crispy with each bite. The noodles were perfectly stir fried and well balanced flavor, only thing I would suggest is adding some form of vegetables, maybe cabbage since they are affordable. Well, I'm very sad to see that New Peking Buffet was sold and became City Buffet. They did a remodel and that was different. The dinner price went up from $14.99 dinner to $17.99. Lunch $10.99 to $12.99. That would have been OK with me... all prices have been going up! Smh. BUT the DELICIOUS curry shrimp was GONE! I drive 30-45 mins just to eat at New Peking Buffet because the food was very well prepared. The Curry Shrimp and Asian porkchops were the reason I drive all that way. Today... City Buffet was disappointing. Almost all the shrimp was overcooked. Their garlic shrimp was tough! Hello... shrimp isn't supposed to be tough! I tried most items. Their ribs were less tasty than Peking. Their Hot n' Sour soup was good, but not as good as New Peking Hot n' Sour was. Hmm, Asian sugar donuts no longer served. City Buffet pancit was also below New Peking pancit. The slivers of carrot and good amount of egg was missing. I really wish City Buffet had retained the cooks/chefs. I'm still going to give 3 stars because hibachi is tasty. City Buffet improved on sushi offerings over New Peking. Hmm also the fried chicken was larger pieces. City Buffet also added some snow crabs... 1 cluster with legs and 3 legs were served at one point. I never saw the snow crab replenished. They did have the Blue Crabs though well stocked. Blue crabs were tasty. I don't know if I'll be back. A friend has been trying to have me try an Asian Buffet off 17/92 and 434. (Bit further) I was just stubborn because New Peking Buffet never disappointed. Now though... I'll try this other one and see if it's quality. If I'm not impressed there... maybe I'll give it couple months... monitor the reviews for City Buffet. Maybe it's just needs time to improve. Oh, and they took the TVs out. The place itself looks nice and the service was prompt, dirty dishes didn't sit at our table and the server was friendly. However, this place has ROACHES!!!! Me and my family were sat at a corner table next to the wall. There was a deep gap in between the wall and I just happened to turn my head and there was a cluster of roaches in it!!!! I should have taken a photo but there were like 6 or 7 hiding in the gap and I was sitting right next to them. I told the cashier person and he was nice enough to remove my fee off the bill and I only paid for my husband. The chicken wings were also really salty and I wasn't the only one as I overheard another table saying something was salted. We had to tell our server to ask the kitchen for a batch of fried rice and more chicken wings because they ran out and no one ever refilled it so we were sitting at the table waiting for more food. Ok, it was pretty good! My husband and I went for the first time last weekend. There was a large variety of Asian foods and a few of American foods as well. There was even a pretty good sushi selection that we noticed as we were accompanied to our table. Immediately once our drinks were ordered my husband and I scattered to find what our mouths were watering for. We were famished! We served ourselves a few times meanwhile the server was always ready to get more drinks and take the finished plates off the table. They were full but not too full to the point where you had to wait to serve yourself. If that makes any sense? I would go back for good affordable buffet food. read more

Don't let the exterior and parking lot deter you. Interior is clean and bright. Food is tasty and well prepared. Sushi is yummy and of good variety. My husband never compliments anything and loves the selection and hibachi grill. We will be back. I ate here once when it was New Peking Buffet and never had the urge to go back. I saw the recent name change and thought a "rebrand" might have included an increase in quality. The rice vermicelli noodles were nice and so was the hot and sour soup. However the sushi rolls were kind of grim. The rice was undercooked and the fish was chewy. There were no labels on the sushi buffet so you roll the dice as to fillings. Most of them were very mayonnaise forward. I did not like the pink or bright green wrapped rolls at all and had no clue what they were. The price was very reasonable ($12 and change for lunch) but not enough to bring me back. read more

This hidden gem along 17-92 in Casselberry is a true find! The store is clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is fresh and constantly replenished. There is a large variety of foods, a sushi bar, a large dessert station, and a hibachi station. The weekend buffet is well worth a visit and is about $17 ($2 for beverage). The best time to go is between 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm as it's always packed before and after those hours, but the establishment is around half full during my mentioned hours. Weekday lunch prices are about $13 until 3:30 pm when the dinner menu is brought out. I like how the food is cooked in small batches, thus the stations are constantly refilled. If an item you wanted is out, finish finding other things and return to your desired item and you'll find the tray refilled. Sanitation on each of my 4 visits was excellent. Hot food was hot, cold food cold; the seafood bar was well chilled with crushed ice. Someone was always seen wiping down the stations with clean towels. All plates and dining wares were clean. Floors were continually cleaned after patrons left the area. The bathroom was clean and stocked. My server(s) deftly cleared my table of plates and refilled my beverage before I ran out. Although it is a buffet where you 90% serve yourself, tip your server well. They never stop moving. My only concern is the inconsistency of food slot labels, especially in the sushi area. The health inspector might say something about this although the staff was fully knowledgeable about what the food was, how it was prepared, and with what ingredients. I should have read the reviews before coming here. The food was not fresh. We waited for awhile patiently and no one was bothering to fill up the food station. I had to tell my server that there was no rice and wings and I been waiting. That's when the server said something and the food was brought out. And beside our table there was roaches. Not one but multiple roaches hiding in the wall cracks beside our booth. I definitely would not come here again. The only good thing I can say is that our server was kind and tended to us. The food tasted like soggy, overcooked, flavorless slop. The waiter smelled strongly of cigarettes. I tried almost everything they had to offer and it was all barely edible. I felt like if I continued to eat their food I would have ended up in the hospital; that's how sick it made me feel. The overall vibe of the restaurant felt like attending a funeral.
