Best fish and chips. The sisters are great people and the conversation is like talking to a long friend. Great place. Pet friendly. Great ambiance.

    Fried oysters and halibut sandwich

This has a smaller inside dining room, but there is seating outside too. When we first walked in, it was just us and the sisters greeted us, handing us our menus. They have a lot of tasty things listed. Earlier in the day, we had driven to Oysterville to get oysters but their steamer was broken; I didn't feel like eating raw ones at the time. So seeing the menu, I knew I wanted the deep fried ones. SO worth it! And their cocktail sauce is *it*. Amazing flavor. Kind of wanted to buy some to go. My dad ordered the halibut sandwich and was super impressed with both it and again the cocktail sauce. So glad we made the stop!

I go to Long beach every August and Captain Bob's is a must for their crab roll! So good!

    Chowder Fries with clam strips

Wanted to try as much of the menu as we could and added the clam strips to the chowder fries. The clam strips seemed closer to calamari than the small breaded clam strips I was expecting. They are very peppery but also a little bland, not my favorite clam strips. The chowder fully solidified and almost seemed more like a cheese sauce. The fries had a nice crunch and bacon makes everything better. You order from a small shop and then can take a seat at one of the tables they have. The staff was nice and we had a very pleasant meal at the outdoor picnic tables

Chowder fries with clam strips (09/2025)

Our group of three had the clam chowder fries topped with clam strips on a sunny day for lunch. The chowder was good, but may have been better on its own. It stool a substantial time to get our order (15+mins?) which was fine, but the chowder was topped with cheese and drowned the fries out a little. The biggest complaint was the clam strips. They were in a heavily pepper corn flavored batter which was overpowering. I ruling like clam strips to feature the clam flavor. If you don't like the sea, this chowder and the clam strips are for you as it's very cheese and potato forward. Good for an occasional snack.

Supposedly Rhode Island style clam cakes, but not even close.

Terrible! Absolutely terrible! Shameful that she actually calls these Rhode Island style clam cakes. This was absolutely nothing like Rhode Island style clam cakes. These "clam cake bites" were really just gross. Never mind that I had to wait over 45 minutes for them! She put us behind on our trip due to this delay. I went to the gift shop next-door to give her time, she said about 15 minutes. Came back 15 minutes later and she hadn't even started them yet. Told her I'd go back to the gift shop again to give her mom time. Came back about 20 minutes later and she still hadn't started them yet. I added this to our itinerary specifically because it said Rhode Island style clam cakes and that was literally the only thing that I got from here. Not only did it take forever, about 50 minutes, to get them, but they were nothing like back home. I don't know how this place has such good reviews. I'm guessing maybe the other stuff is good, but these definitely were not!

We own a house in Long Beach, and during the time we lived there full-time, this was our go-to spot for anniversaries and my husband's birthdays. It exudes that cozy, historic Seaview charm that invites you to relax and linger...warm, intimate, and full of character without being over the top. A true small-town and now not so hidden gem. My husband is a fan of their Old Fashioneds, particularly those with a smoked maple twist, and he often gravitates back to the slow-braised pork. Their current Southern Comfort Pork dish is just his style: slow-braised pork shoulder served over brown sugar yam mash with jalapeño creamed corn, green onion, and maple-bacon salsa. That's comfort food crafted with real culinary skill. As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I truly appreciate how The Depot makes an effort to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diners in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Last winter, I was thrilled to discover the ginger-coconut soba noodles, they were flavorful, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. Their current mika soba noodles with garlic-ginger coconut cream, vegetables, toasted cashews, and cilantro are exactly the kind of dish I'm thankful to find on a Peninsula menu. I also have fond memories of Burger Wednesdays from our time on the Peninsula. It's incredible how satisfying a customized portobello burger can be when a kitchen understands texture and seasoning especially in a place where plant-based options can still be scarce. The food is fantastic, but the service deserves a special mention. While Peninsula restaurants are known for their good service, The Depot's service is exceptional: polished, friendly, warm, and just the right amount of attentive. Although we now reside in California, we plan to make another reservation when we return to the Long Beach Peninsula in July. I'm already looking forward to their summer menu. Note: I've forgotten to take photos so the ones on this review are from the restaurants social media - definitely a reflection of our last meal at The Depot without the drinks.

We ended up ordering the BLTTA sandwich with house made chips, the reuben sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries and one of their daily specials, brisket with macaroni and cheese. The food was fresh and delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and we all finished our food. No leftovers. We especially loved the sweet potato waffle fries; crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The turkey on the BLTTA was not lunch meat, it was fresh turkey breast. So yummy! Overall a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back to try some of their other menu items. Highly recommend.

We checked in with the hostess who saw the notes for my requests. The hostess took care to seat us at the perfect table to enjoy each other, the view, and the music. I saw a review where the couple didn't like their table facing the view but side by side chairs. We got that same table - we loved it for the intimacy and view! (We did book at sunset rather than after dark. *Note--yes we were facing the ocean and sun was beaming in but it wasn't an issue due to the adjustable shade. The service was as such that I believe they would have accommodated us had we been unhappy. YAY - we got Alyssa as our server! I saw her name in a few Yelp reviews and she didn't disappoint. Randall, whose name I also saw was the bartender - and ditto for him. They serve a "Cocktail for a Cause" -- this month was for Pride. It went down fast so I ordered a Sazerac and was a happy sipper. Starters: Clam Chowder and Burrata. One of the BEST clam chowders I've had (Alyssa did say it was a new batch from earlier that day so lucky us.) The Burrata didn't dazzle my tastebuds but it was still good. ‍ Entrees: Fried Rock Fish with hand-cut fries -- good. They dust the fries with rice flour before frying...different but still tasty. My partner is a hand-cut fries traditionalist so I enjoyed them more than he. Alyssa....chicken or pork... she said pork so... Pork Schnitzel: perfectly prepared with a wonderful onion gravy! Served with fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts. For my taste the fingerlings were a touch overdone and the brussels were a touch underdone (and no, I don't like mushy veg.) The live music was around the corner so we could still hear each other AND enjoy the music. Wonderful Cost was pricey but we left full of good people, good drinks, good food, and good music. Worth the money in my book!

The slaw is more like a carrot and cabbage salad with a slight Mexican flavor accent. I believe portions are out of balance as there was way more slaw than fish on both platters. The chowder was thick and creamy and clam forward in flavor. A good mix of celery potato and clam. If there had not been oyster crackers I would say it needed more veg & clams to give texture to the chowder base. The fish was battered and came out hot and crispy.
