We really enjoyed our dinner here. The crab was so dang fresh! Ate my crab cocktail before I barely got a picture of it. The oysters were just eh. It was our first time having them so maybe it was just these oysters? They were overloaded with cheese for sure so maybe next time I would try them without the cheese. It's been over 5 years since my wife & I went here, one of our favorite seafood places in Long Beach, WA, so on my own now finally able to check it out again. I usually have the deep fried shrimp but saw someone else's 5 Star rating on the batter dipped fried shrimp tacos, and WOW!!! Three delicious prawn tacos, so far only place I've found that does the batter dipped fried prawn tacos since having them when I visited my parents in Yuma, AZ & we would go to Los Algodones, Mexico. They were the greatest, along with the little serving of chips & salsa, even the water was crystal clear with no chlorine taste. Only one waitress plus a guy helping with everything, ran the whole floor and was very responsive to everyone, even checked on me for more water. Had to wait to be seated and then told to pick a table. We prefer a slice of lemon in our water and had to remind the server. We ordered both a 1-piece and a 2-piece halibut and chips with a cup of chowder. The fish & chips came out quickly. Nice and hot. The slaw is more like a carrot and cabbage salad with a slight Mexican flavor accent. I believe portions are out of balance as there was way more slaw than fish on both platters. The chowder was thick and creamy and clam forward in flavor. A good mix of celery potato and clam. If there had not been oyster crackers I would say it needed more veg & clams to give texture to the chowder base. The fish was battered and came out hot and crispy. The Crab Pot is an understated little place right off Pacific Avenue in Long Beach. Service staff of one was friendly. Ambiance was understated but clean. Shocked to see this spot have such low reviews - my family and I were in the area for a AirBnb beach trip weekend, and visited the Crab Pot for lunch. We looooved it! Like most beach towns, the restaurant was a little dingy, but nothing terrible. One thing we wish they did have was AC - it was so hot while we were in here, and we were seated pretty close together so it was uncomfortable. Service was decent, but the food was the true star of the entire experience. I wasn't in the mood for anything too heavy so I ordered a bowl of clam chowder - which was arguably some of the best I've had. So delicious. I also tried bites of my dad's Crab Queso, which was IMPECCABLE. Also absolutely delicious was their crab quesadilla. In all of these dishes, they didn't skimp on the seafood whatsoever. All the dishes were jam packed and so good! I'm not in Long Beach often (or ever, really) but if I were to return I'd definitely come back here for lunch. Fish and chips/ chicken strips are mediocre at best. The fettuccine is watery, a very sorry excuse for Italian cuisine. I called ahead to see if they had a table for 7, got told yes, as soon as we arrived they sat us at 2 different tables, we asked to push them together being that another table had done that, got told NO by the server in a very rude manner. Took 40+ minutes to get our food, tables around us got water refills we got one in a 2 hour time period. Very poor service and horrible food. It is a seafood place with a slight Mexican feel to the food. I got the fish tacos while my friend ordered the shrimp tacos, my other chose was crab cakes. The food came quickly and I think it was delicious My tacos were pretty much how I make the at home fish , cabbage, sauces and shell. That's it. That is really all I like in my fish tacos. We saw the Crab Pot on the side of the road and decided to give it a try because it looked like it would be a good seafood spot. There were people waiting outside to get in so we went to the the "take-out" side of the restaurant to avoid the crowd. We ordered the Halibut Fish and Chips (3 pieces) because the server recommended it. She stressed that it was not a standard menu item and asked us to confirm how many pieces we wanted. She even counted the pieces with her fingers and we thought it was a bit odd. It turns out we didn't take the hint (that maybe it was too much) and confirmed our order. The server took our order and then I realized that the 3 piece Halibut Fish and Chips meal cost me almost $40 (including tip). To be honest with ya'll, I was shocked at the price when she rang me up. This was going to be the most expensive Fish and Chips I would ever have! She told us they would bring the food to the car, so I waited in the passenger seat, still in shock. Maybe 10 minutes later, a gentleman delivered a neatly packed order to our car. I opened the box and realized that they gave us three large filets of Halibut. Each piece was probably big enough for one person on their own. When I bit into the Fish, the batter was light and crispy and the fish itself was moist. The fries were good too! I am really picky and passionate about fries and I think they are excellent! After we finished the meal, it dawned on me that despite the sticker shock, we got a lot of high quality fish for the money. I just wish the server would have have communicated the portions and price better because we could have ordered a smaller amount or been prepared for the big bill. We moved to the peninsula five months ago and have tried this place three times. Last Saturday evening we went to give it another try. My wife ordered a fresh crab dinner from the specials board and I had a grilled cod sandwich. The crab was small and lacked flavor, the small portion of mashed potatoes was so salty it wasn't even edible, and the vegetables were overcooked. My sandwich was "just okay." Service was only average. The staff looked frumpy and were uninspiring. The layout and ambiance of this place are a bit weird. From the parking lot, you walk in past a virtually empty, sterile-looking seafood market room. Inside, while seated at a booth, you sit under a bright, harsh, bluish light that's very distracting. After three tries we decided we wouldn't go back here. Not a good value. There's a reason why, on a Saturday night, when other good places in town are packed--they were only half full. read more

Food was YUM YUM. We had the crab queso and crab enchiladas. Both were amazing. And for the price we couldn't believe the mass amount of lump crabmeat we got it was terrific and well worth the price. I visited Long Beach yesterday after a 2.5 hr drive and decided to stop here. Ordered the shrimp tempura tacos and let me tell you, they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! They were up there with some of the best tacos I've ever had. There were 2 gigantic shrimp that completely filled the taco and delish slaw on top. They were huge and tasty! I knew I had to come back here and leave a review and let me tell you I was shocked to see the low rating. When we went to eat dinner at the Crab Pot there weren't too many people there. However, they appeared to be very short staffed. The waitress cleaned a table off so we could be seated. Then it took several minutes before she returned to take our order. We got the crab cakes which were good. We also had the crab enchiladas which were good but my husband found several little bones. I had great expectations for the oyster chowder but I guess there's a reason clam chowder is more famous The chowder was rather salty and it wasn't bad but it didn't amount to what I was hoping. Upon walking up to the door, we read the sign that asks us to wait outside if there was a customer at the counter which there was. We waited for approximately 4 minutes. When you walk in, there is a small menu at the the counter where you order then get seated. The food was just okay and prices are EXPENSIVE. Because of that we won't be back. Our second visit last night and we sat in the "bar" part for dinner. One server who was friendly and busy. Had a good bottle of Washington red wine to accompany our meal. Started with a cup of clam chowder, good creamy flavor and chunks of potato, bacon and clams. Husband had the shrimp pasta, he liked the creamy sauce, large shrimp and just enough food. Took my parents here because their food used to be good. My father (a fisherman) ordered halibut fish and chips at the peak of halibut season. The fish was not fresh. It was extremely fishy smelling and tasting. Unseasoned batter, and dry as hell. I ordered salmon fish and chips. An old favorite. The waitress explained that it was no longer on the menu (even though it is online and was the main reason I wanted to eat there). But the "chef" agreed to make it for me. Again, unseasoned, fishy and dry. I think the salmon was cooked before it was battered and fried. At a coastal seafood restaurant, there is no excuse to not serve fresh fish. And at a hefty $80 bill when the other 2 guests had chicken, I expect better. read more
