Lovely setting. Staff that is welcoming, friendly and funny. Food was very good the oyster sliders are giant! The fried oysters were also very good. Breaded, marinated mushrooms were delicious. A bit too much breading, but thinner breading would not be as tasty. We simply ate only a portion of the breading and were quite happy. read more

Stopped by for lunch, sat outside on the patio as we had a dog with us. We ordered the tuna melt, fried oysters, fish and chips, salmon spread and garden salad with salmon. The tuna melt was pretty good, nice solid chunks of tuna. The fried oysters were delicious. Fish and chips special were using rockfish and it was meaty and fresh. The salmon spread with pita chips is to die for! The green salad with the added salmon with the house made balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. A Local Treasure! Our service from the staff was not just top notch, they were genuinely kind. The food was excellent. While it costs a little more, it was well worth it. All fresh ingredients excellently prepared and presented. We were seated at a window seat with a view of an active charter fishing port full of cool looking boats and gear. One of the staff members noticed that I was trying to take a picture of the boats and suggested I go upstairs for an even better picture. My second time back here and the food is so so so good. My favorite is the Spinach Dip and I 100% recommend getting it here. It is so creamy and delicious. The service is always really good and they are consistently on top of it. This restaurant is located right in between the hotel, but inside you get a beautiful view of the ocean and boats. I'm in love with this place! Probably because (despite the beautiful huge pines on the coast) it reminded me of being on the Redondo Pier a bit. Nice big windows to look out at the marina in this cute, sleepy little town. Whoever designed this place knew what they were doing. It's small, but it's well put together. Clean, stylish, classy, but cozy too! Real flowers on the tables even. Me and my hubs were just there for a liquid snack, but the bowl of clam chowder from the next table over looked legit! It was huge. According to them, it was delicious too and chuck full of clams. On my list of things to try the next time I go. Service was friendly and adequate. This place has no right being this good. I grew up eating seafood off the docks on the puget sound and very few places can live up to that memory. The Salt Pub did. My friend and I went there on Jan 3rd 2026 to watch the Sea Hawk game, we sat at the bar but couldn't hear the game as they had music playing asked if they could turn up the tv and they said sure but they couldn't turn the music off, had the fish and chips, my friend had the chowder, I could only eat part of my meal as I was disgusted by the fact when I noticed neither of the male cooks were wearing gloves while preparing our food, one cook was even messing with his nose he didn't leave the grill to wash his hands after the fact,, noone wore gloves, not even servers after handling money, the least they could is wash their hands before serving patrons. What a great find! I never heard of the place and stumbled upon a completely by accident. The dining room is small, but comfortable with a view of the harbor, it was full and busy that day so we weeded at the bar. No matter, I think we had the best service! I have to say the assortment of pickles for the appetizer is outstanding, as was the very well crafted cocktail I had. The smoked salmon melt sandwich was something I'll remember for sometime with great longing. Can't wait for an opportunity to go back and try more of the menu here. read more

Food was good, not outstanding, and they were out of a lot of things. Service was good, but they were busy and seemed understaffed. We had to ask for water a couple of times, and when it came the server spilled it on our feet and the sidewalk in the process. It was cold out but worth it to sit and watch the boats. read more

Update: 1/7/2023. This update has been a long time coming. Salt has really overperformed the last year or so. The quality of both the service and food have been outstanding. And consistent! I know this can be overlooked, but it's important to me that a restaurant, bar, pub or brewery be consistent. Why? Because when I tell someone from out of town that the Cubano at Salt is frikkin' amazing, I don't want them to go and have a sub-optimal Cubano. When I tell them that the fries are always perfect, I am hoping they have the same experience. We have really enjoyed Salt! It's probably our go-to restaurant on the Long Beach peninsula. And because the Cubano is always great, I rarely even have to look at the menu! (Of course, if it's Thursday and the special sushi menu is in play, I go with the sushi.) Most recently, Salt has featured a seasonal Hot Buttered Rum with homemade mix and whipped cream. It was/is phenomenal! The first time I had one, I was blown away. The next day, we were coming home from over the river, and my wife asks, 'Is there anything else you want to do today?' My response? 'Uh, yeah, a Hot Buttered Rum at Salt. I want to see if it's served the same way today.' It was! Fantastic! Peter makes an excellent cocktail. We even went in on NYE just to get a Hot Buttered Rum! Such a nice surprise for the first stop in town. We had the Smoked Salmon dip for starters. Highly recommend! The naan was piping hot (watch your fingers & mouth) and perfectly crisp on the outside - soft inside. The dip itself paired very well. Would definitely get this again! The smoked tuna melt was perfect. The toast stayed crunchy and was the perfect vehicle to carry the creamy tuna with melted cheese on top. This was delicious. We have headed in there on many Saturdays to have a pint and a quick bite. We went in today and the service was horrible. Staff was extremely rude. I know they were busy but it is no reason to treat customers in that manner. Also they completely lied to us about what services they generally provide. They are one of the only shows in town. We went because of the reviews here. Must have been family. Where to begin. Very small menu, but they managed to run out of potatoes. No french fries. No, the online menu is not correct. Adjust our order. So Fish and Salad, no chips. And shrimp cocktail and salad. Three large chunks of fish arrived, looked fine, salad was beautifully displayed. How does fish get tough? How does salad get brown and limp? How does shrimp cocktail arrive at room temperature, with wilted lettuce leaves sitting in juice, under the shrimp? I pulled the green slime out. Surprisingly, the shrimp tasted fine. I was shocked. Partner ate two pieces of the fish, and dug through the salad. Yes, I know we should have sent the whole damn order back. Long day on the road, discouraging trudge through the Saturday Market on the docks, and only place near our motel. We suffered in silence. Unusual for me. I did not want the line of excuses followed by 'I''m sorry', like that works! As we were actually laughing at our days experiences with food, I commented this was gonna be a good Yelp post.
