This is a cute hidden gem. Walking in took me back to restaurant dinners with my grandparents. Beautiful wood and stained glass interior. Dinner was delicious! Prepared the way I like it. Simple, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The clam chowder is amazing! So full of clams that my spoon could nearly stand up. The New York steak and colcannon potatoes were perfect! Update: 9/27/2024 I've been slow to update my review, given the peninsula's lack of consistency... I wanted to wait until I was certain the Shelburne was solid. I'm happy to report that it was... for a while. But then - like many peninsula businesses - things went downhill fast. I'll just write that 2 weeks ago, I would have revised my review to be 5 stars. But we went in this week, and the experience was not great. We got a salad that was filled with brown lettuce. Not one or two pieces; basically all of it. How the chef let that out of the kitchen is beyond me. Why the chef put it on the plate to begin with is a mystery. The burger I received was extremely underwhelming. I wish I had taken a picture of it. I can easily write that I've had burgers from a drive-in establish on the peninsula that were much better, for 1/2 the price. The Shelburne has gotten better, but at their price point, I can't recommend it. read more

This establishment was recommended by a local retail store vendor, so we gave it a try. We arrived on a Monday evening around 5:30 PM during Oregon's spring break. We were immediately seated at a nice booth/table. The place only has like 8 small tables. It was full after we were seated but a couple of tables opened up shortly after we were seated, but were promptly filled again with more customers. We were greeted by Ivy, the solo table server. She did a great job mixing our drinks: a Cranberry Margarita and a Dark and Stormy. Both drinks were filled with the appropriate amount of paid-for alcohol, and were delicious. We ordered Zesty Edamame and a Rogue Blue Cheese salad for starters. Both were excellent. Then we ordered Buttermilk Fried Oysters and the Macaroni and Cheese (no added meat). Both were well made and consumed with smiles on our faces. We did not order dessert. We were too full. This is a place to dine, and not a place to expect fast food delivery. That said, we did not wait any longer than we would normally wait for a fine dinner at most any other restaurant. It's not a fast brewpub joint. It was a nice small quaint bar room with good relaxing vibes after a day dodging raindrops. We would definitely go back the next time we visit the Long Beach area. read more

I'm reviewing my whole Shelburne experience, mostly because I don't know how to separate my meal experience from my Hotel stay, but one way or another it was always just that - an experience. We stayed for a night and it was positively lovely. I got to listen to a few ghosts during the night, which I was told can happen from time to time, and which I found quite charming. But we decided during the evening that we would have dinner at the pub. I can't begin to tell you how surprising this was, for a whole lot of reasons. Well, actually, it's a review, so- yes I can!!! I was honestly not expecting to get a great cocktail by the beach, because let's be honest, unless you're in Waikiki, beach drinks tend to be just beach drinks. But boy was I wrong. Shelburne Inn has a relationship with the "Adrift" group, and random fact, this hotel group has a distillery that makes excellent gin (and other things) right there in Seaview, WA. It's local (within a few blocks). So they made me a Negroni made from Adrift gin and it was truly killer. My wife had a cranberry margarita made from Adrift Cranberry liqueur, and it was lights out. So good. For dinner, we had a clam appetizer that had at least 40 clams in it. I'm actually not exaggerating. I couldn't believe how many fresh and beautiful clams were in this dish. Simple, and great. I got the fresh rockfish fish and chips, and my wife got the kimchi fried rice. Here's where things took a strange turn. Was the meal perfect from here on in? No. But was it a memorable meal experience? Absolutely. For so many reasons my wife and I will be talking about this trip, and particularly this meal for many years into the future. Firstly, my fish and chips. For some reason the fries were made in a different fryer than the fish. This was evidenced by the fact that the fries were cooked in oil that was probably half a week too old. They were not at all good. Oddly, the fried rockfish that sat on top of them, on the other hand, was a thing of beauty. Fried to crispy perfection and the fish inside was beautiful and flaky. So good. The kimchee fried rice was a challenge. If you decide that you are going to create that dish, you pretty much need to decide what you mean. Because fried rice is light, and if you add kimchee to it you have to decide "do I care about texture or flavour?" Because I can't imagine how else you could marry these two. They decided flavour, which meant what we ended up with was a super heavy, oily, sticky rice that actually tasted excellently like kimchee. I quite liked it. My wife- not so much. It was too heavy and stodgy, which to be fair, I can totally understand. If they had called it risotto, it would've been much closer to the truth. Then we got "drunk dude at the bar talking too loud" guy. The staff were perfect, and treated him like a loved member of the family. But honestly, if anyone in the room had mentioned again the details of the conversation that, by the end, everyone in the bar knew by heart (because he repeated it all about 10 times and at the absolute top of his "Steven Tyler Aerosmith" voice) I would've lost my shit. But in the whole scheme of things the "drunk guy too loud conversation" was part of the delicious weirdness that was the whole experience. And overall, as you can tell by the rating, it was (while not perfect) REALLY BLOODY FUN. Perfect is overrated. If you want perfect, go to a big city and book ahead. Pay top dollar. If you want a perfect EXPERIENCE, (which is, by definition, a little more real and messy), come to Shelburne Inn and Shelburne Pub. Near perfect food. Awesome cocktails (that you can't get elsewhere) and the messiness of life that is, by definition, memorable. Loved it. read more

The kimchi fried rice is amazing while the dirty fries tasted like they had either been reheated overnight or sat in the window too long and then reheated. Cocktails were above average. read more

After going to a restaurant that was closed and one where we needed a reservation, we ended up at Shelburne Pub on a recommendation. The inside and outside is beautiful. This would be a lovely place to dine if a few things changed and improved. First off, we walked in and a lady said hello, but then we just stood there for a minute until she asked us if we had a reservation. I did make one 15 minutes before arriving, but she didn't even ask for my name or anything. Instead she just took us to a table as if it didn't even matter. The service was very slow and at the time there was only one other family dining in. I wasn't sure why it was so slow because there were two ladies working. I didn't get a chance to look at the menu before coming, but it's very eclectic. You will not see most of these items at any old restuarant. I believe they also have a rotating menu, which is cool, but this place is definitely not for picky eaters. I opted for the gnocchi and it had to be the most flavorless meal I've ever eaten. I don't think the chef used any spices or seasonings and for a more expensive dining experience you think it would've been at least decent. My sister got the steak and for $30 she also said it wasn't very good. Lastly, the note on the check was very confusing. We read it multiple times and were dumbfounded. They charge an 18% living wage fee but only 7% of that goes to the waitress? So you still feel obligated to give another tip. Honestly just sounds like a big scam to get more money.. I don't know. Definitely very disappointed because the meal was expensive and they tack on that extra 18% charge. read more

5 stars all around. The service here is wonderful the atmosphere is the absolute cutest and such a fun local landmark. We didn't have a ton of food here but the food we did have was delicious!! We actually stayed at the hotel, which was the cutest! We came for a weekend getaway to celebrate our recent engagement and it was such a little slice of heaven. We went down for a snack and drinks the night we got in and sat at the bar. We ordered the wings which had incredible sauce! Love the whole wings and they're fried twice making the skin extra crunchy which I love! Sharon was our bartender one day and our server the second night where we just got some drinks and fries. She was a delight. She was making delicious drinks and we got to know her and some of the other locals it was very fun. She's such a hard worker and one hell of a bartender. We also got to meet the chef de cuisine, Alex. Who was awesome and we got to talking and bonded over delicious food! She's a rockstar and makes some killer food! Fun fact she's on some cooking tv shows and that was an awesome surprise! We want to def tune in! And we're gonna cheer here in if she's ever on another one!! Anyway we had a blast and everything of what we had here was delicious. We will definitely come again and suggest it to others! Such a fun spot! read more

Ok the first strike was not having any beer on tap darker than a red. How many IPAs do you need? You have a porter beef stew on the menu, but no Porter on tap? Come on. But the big issue is this "Living Wage Charge." 18% on top of the bill, but only 7% goes to the server. (I hope. It technically says 7% of the 18% but I'm HOPING that's a grammatical error.) So the other 11% goes to....the restaurant. Why? To pay their employees a living wage? Uh.... that's what you're SUPPOSED to be doing, without charging me extra for it. Raise your prices if you have to, but don't add this passive aggressive whiny charge. Also worth noting that for some reason they don't have to charge sales tax on this "charge." What's that about? Also, this sort of charge has the effect of lowering tips, since customers feel they're already being forced to tip. But the server is only getting 7%. That's a terrible tip. Shame on this pub for this shoddy business practice. (Second star because my wife said the creme brûlée was excellent. And the atmosphere was nice.) read more

Maybe we came in on an off night but for the prices I didn't really like this place that much. We ordered a couple drinks, bowls of soup (French onion, and potato) and some bread. Should've stopped there because everything was good, not amazing but good, but we've been wanting to try the braised crispy pork so we ordered that to split. I get what they were trying to achieve with the pork but what we got hadn't been braised long enough, the meat was a bit tough and stringy. The polenta was good though but probably because it swimming in butter. The food was 5 stars - but the service was very very slow. All of the staff were very friendly however it seemed they were possibly overwhelmed with the amount of guests they had that night, I'm not sure. Again , the food was wonderful ! From ordering to waiting for our check -- 7:30pm to 10pm- that's how long it took. We asked for a dessert menu and it took around 15 minutes to get a server to bring one, but we had just decided it was time to call it an evening. We had 4 adults and a 4yr old child with us. We ordered the burger, fish and chips, lamb shank, young greens, mushroom bruschetta and a kids pasta w butter sauce. All delicious and hearty portions. read more

I am absolutely astounded by my delightful experience dining at Shelburne today. I don't even know where to begin! First off, the ambience alone is warm, welcoming, and incredibly cozy. There was a fire going and a couple playing pool in a room to the left, the atmosphere was full of love. Our table was by the big beautiful stained glass. Even the bathroom smelled great, was spotless, and intuitive. Our server was full of hospitality and made us feel like home. The food didn't take too long and it was easy to get distracted by the beautiful decor. I ordered the chicken sandwich, and oh am I so grateful! I don't mean to be dramatic but this was by far the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the aioli was to die for. The FRIES!! Oh my goodness the fries topped the cake, a match made in heaven. Although we had no room for dessert, we are CERTAINLY coming back to indulge and maybe even stay at the Inn. The GOOD: Very nice ambience. Menu was great. Server (Juliana) was very attentive and polite. When food arrived (Braised Pork), it was just about perfect. Drinks were spot on. Cobbler Du Jour perfect ending. The BAD: Automatic 18% "Living Wage" added to the check, of which only 7% goes directly to the server. Are you kidding? If the ownership is so inept that it passes the responsibility of providing a living wage for its employees to the customer, perhaps it's time to reconsider the business or retain professional management. This entitlement is seriously pathetic. We eat out often, and I'd consider us heavier tippers, usually 18 - 25%, depending on service provided. Even in this case, we gave over 20% gratuity. But this choice SHOULD be up to the customer and it should be based on the experience. This greedy money grab turned what was a very pleasant experience, worthy of recommendations, into a sad example of small minded, short sighted, entitled restauranter. Pity. read more

Was in the area for a family trip and decided to venture out for breast. Cute little restaurant within a local hotel. Very vintage/60s era decor. Lady waiting on me was fabulous. I had the salmon scramble and it came out quick and fresh and delicious. Sourdough bread was yum. Overall a great experience. They also had fun music playing that added to the ambiance of the whole place. It's a rather small restaurant so if you're coming for lunch or dinner I'd recommend making reservations. You never know when they'll be super busy. I'd definitely eat here again and bring the family instead of ditching them at the air bnb. read more

This place is spectacular! My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on our way to another place we had read about. We were glad we did. It is an historic hotel and looks the part. We got a seat right away next to one of the beautiful stained glass windows in the bar. The service was friendly and fast. The drinks were delicious and affordable. The hash was so good and the salad was fresh and tasty. We liked it so much we went back for dinner and we're not let down. Getting a reservation was easy. It was early evening when I stopped just the other day. Being the off-season there were only one or two others at the tables. The service was impressive, and the wait staff's knowledge considerable, not just the menu, but also where they sourced their dinnerware, which was superb for the purpose and most attractive. That said the menu contained a seldom see item, Welsh Rarebit, which I had to try. There are many ways to make this using a variety of breads and cheeses. Theirs used a crusty sourdough French bread which I really liked. I'd be at a loss to adequately describe the chees sauce topping other than to say it paired perfectly with the bread. One nickel-and-dime item was perplexing. Like so many eateries these days, tip amounts were pre-calculated to make it easier for the math-challenged. That's helpful but it becomes mildly irksome when those tip percentages are calculated, not just on the price of the meal but, on the total including the sales tax. The Shelburne is a classy place. I am in love with the Shelburne Pub (shh, don't tell the Shelburne Hotel -- I am in love with it too). I recently stayed at the hotel, and had a wonderful experience in the pub. The menu looks high end, and in reality probably is. Nevertheless, I don't think the prices are out of line, although budget travelers may disagree. Shortly, after checking in, I popped in for a drink, enjoyed the spiced nuts, and just hung out. What a nice, enjoyable space. Leah was a great bartender, and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. An hour later, after a bath and change of clothes in the Shelburne Hotel, I returned for dinner. The restaurant was closed for a private function, and all diners ate in the pub. This relatively intimate space was perfect, and I only regret I was a single diner. I ended up choosing a salad, the bleu cheese bread (from an Astoria bakery, I believe), and the manila clams appetizer, all of which was, in reality, plenty of food. I enjoyed my cocktail and wine, the food, and the service. I have no doubt that I will be back soon. read more

Finding a breakfast place that would sit "5" was a challenge. This was the 5th place and it was definitely worth the work. We got to pick our table in the pub.
