Nothing special. Walking in and wasn't greeted by the young lady on her personal phone. Once seated ("I'll seat you here, because the table is the only clean one") in a pub atmosphere that only had 3 tables with patrons in the establishment. It was NOT busy. Ordered 2 coffees and a diet coke. Had to remind her twice before getting it delivered. Ordering a simple breakfast, a sausage and cheese omelet and chicken fried steak. The toast on the plates were hard yet not overly toasted. The gravy and the potatoes were the best part of all 3 meals. Let me say, the omelet was smaller than the toast in comparison. The waitress abandoned ship and slid off the radar... we had to ask another matey to refill the coffee and he did so very promptly! He was the better part of the experience. From what I understand, The Slippery Deck is one of the few restaurants that open for breakfast in Westport. When I came in, I saw 2 gentlemen waiting for their breakfast. We were hungry, so we didn't think about wanting to travel to Aberdeen for breakfast. We were desperate for food, so we decided to sit down. Needless to say, we had to wait like 1+ hour for our orders of breakfast. I literally had to skip on my biscuit/gravy order due to staffing issue and time constraint. It was okay. I had breakfast at one of the few places that seemed to be open. It gets lots of positive reviews, but I wasn't impressed. I had a smoked salmon omelet, toast and breakfast potatoes. I guess I was anticipating an omelet with onions, cream cheese, capers, with locally smoked salmon. Turns out the only cheese option was cheddar or provolone. The breakfast potatoes were deep fried potato pieces, I was expecting something like hashbrowns or O'Briens with some flavor. The sourdough toast was good and nicely toasted. The service was okay along with the coffee. I guess I was expecting a little more, everything was so bland, I supposed for those early morning fishing trips. Finally checked out the Slippery Deck, formerly King Tide now under new ownership! The service is outstanding! We even got to meet the cook and thank him for our delicious meals! Everything is fresh and made in house which is so wonderful to have in a small town. The first time we stopped in for breakfast and had biscuits & gravy, tsunami scramble, chicken fried steak and a bagel breakfast sandwich. It was all fantastic, very large portions! The next time we went for lunch and had a chili burger and a tuna melt with tomato basil soup. Again, fantastic! Love the vibe. Owners are super friendly and attentive! We came in for brunch and to watch an early Seahawks game. Got a great front row seat with Hawks on and another game playing nearby. The brunch buffet was really nice. Everything you could expect...but Eggs Benedict and a quiche of the day. Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon and ham. You aren't going hungry here. The Wedge Salad was two big bunches of Romaine(I requested light on blue cheese crumbles) $18 At restaurants sometimes the French Dip sandwiches are outstanding - this was good but probably not very remarkable. The meat could have been dipped into the beef au jus for moisture. However, the salad was delicious* very good dressing just right on the request for light blue cheese crumbles. *And it was huge* If the "wedge" is always Romaine that was a pleasant surprise! Service was timely not much ambiance pretty plain Jane. We had seen a lot of Facebook posts about this restaurant touting the Bloody Mary's - More so than the food. We were the first people in. Just stopped in for a drink and appetizer. Well to be honest we were there for the bakery! I think we bought one of everything! The best was the blueberry scone followed closely by the cherry croissant. The Bloody Mary was very tasty. We ordered the dill shrimp dip and crackers along with a shrimp cocktail. Very nice! The cocktail sauce has a nice little kick to it. The inside layout is perfect for all ages. All in all it's a nice little place to sit and enjoy yourself. PS- as we were the only ones there for about 45 minutes our waitress was able to give us the rundown on what to do and see while we were in Westport. Very helpful. Deb & Jason's KING TIDE family Bakery & Pub is every bit as good as the reviews. I enjoyed a bowl of Jambalaya, FILLED with prawns, Andouille Sausage, and chunks of chicken, along with a delicious freshly baked corn bread muffin. I don't recall ever having a bowl that had such a large "meat to rice ratio." I LOVED every bite of it, It has a perfect blend of spices.. Our daughter enjoyed a large bowl of home made Macaroni & Cheese, cornbread muffin, and my wife had a delicious grilled cheese and tomato soup. Everything is home made, freshly prepared to order and large portions. We had to get a couple sweets to go from the bakery, and will likely return for dinner or breakfast tomorrow. We love King Tide! We saw they had their breakfast buffet New Years weekend and are so glad we went! Our son is a picky eater so it makes it hard for us to dine out, but we knew we had a winner with the breakfast buffet. He would eat breakfast foods all day long if we let him! On top of being a picky eater, restaurants can be overstimulating for him. Without knowing that, we were given the BEST table in the house...right by the front door and separated from the main dining room! Note: this is a large dining table that could easily seat a big family so ask about it if you have a larger group! The food was home cooked and so delicious. The offerings for a buffet were incredible! It's been a long time since I've been to a buffet, but by far this was the best ever and great value too! Eggs Benedict, French toast, waffles (with strawberries, syrup and whipped cream), ham, bacon, chicken fried steak, cinnamon rolls and baked goods, frittata....and more. So much more! I LOVE Eggs Benny, but fans know not all are equal and there are some....not so great ones ;) King Tide's are in my top 2! I'm looking forward to trying King Tide for dinner. I love their business model where they serve one meal per night. While that doesn't work so well for my picky eater, we could easily have him eat before and get a baked good. First off, Yelp said it was not open so I called just in case and it was OPEN! Double check! We are regulars at other breakfast spots in town but I was very pleasantly surprised that the food here was such good quality and fresher/real tasting ingredients. The omelet was not greasy, and they had real butter, and delicious homemade biscuits. (from the photos I was worried they would be hard, but they were actually very soft and wonderful!). I stopped in on Tuesday which is Flatbread build your own pizza day and was amazed. Light flakey thin crust, toppings of your choice and a very warm, family friendly environment. We went for breakfast and the wait time was so long when we only ordered a breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy. I really did not like the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was ok- but the biscuits were really strange in both texture and taste. Not at all what you would normally expect. Burrito was good. Have been wanting to try it since they opened a few months ago, today was finally the day - BLT had great bacon, thick sliced and well cooked, and the mac and cheese was fantastic, so creamy (wish it came with a little salad or some fruit maybe like the BLT did, but the roll was awesome too). The "mom and pop" authenticity is so real, and it makes you root for them in a way you never could for the hardened and seasoned restaurant owners. There is this unwavering sense of dreaming and commitment in that first year. There is also shear exhaustion. So go support these guys. We are regulars to Westport and have tried a lot of different restaurants in the area. I have never felt the need to write a review, until now. We strolled into this place on a Sunday night looking for dinner. A friendly gentleman popped out from behind the bakery to greet us and we were promptly seated. Expected to get menus, but the waiter told us the evening meal was only one item and on Sundays it was Mississippi Pot Roast. My heart sunk because I am not a pot roast and mashed potatoes kind of gal. But, we were hungry and the staff were friendly and attentive, so why not? Food came out quickly. Portions were huge and it smelled fantastic, but I was still skeptical. I took my first bite and, no joke, was shocked at how good it was. Went in just to see some pastries and ended up being pleasantly surprised with a full breakfast menu. Got the biscuits & gravy and a bagel egg sandwich, with an iced coffee. So first off, the beans are ground in house and they did the iced coffee americano style with espresso. The quality was perfecto. High quality iced coffee made to order. The beans were a nice medium roast so it still had a good caffeine content while having some of that bitter bite (but not too much). That's just the coffee. The biscuits were soft but hardy and stood up to the thick gravy. The sausage was the shining star not overpowered by gravy. The watermelon fruit on the side was a great balance. The bagel was also nice and soft, super fresh. Got everything on the everything bagel and the veggies were so fresh and delicious. Finished breakfast off with fresh cookies, which were just absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!! read more
