A much needed ocean therapy was calling my name and I drove west. Ended up in Ocean Shores. I left my town due to how crazy busy it would be with parades and a carnival, not knowing what's in store here. A pleasant surprise to see the streets lined with families. Anyway, got to shop, enjoy the festivities, and more importantly spend time walking the beach. Gorgeous day! Which led me to try something new and ended up here at the Garage. The atmosphere here was electric with Mariners on a screen over the bar and the FIFA World Cup games on the other screen. Love the open patio area, where a cooling breeze can be felt all throughout the Garage. They were a bit busy, so it took a minute to greet me, but at least I was able to find a table. I ended up ordering their Fish & Chips, and a cup of their chowda! DAMN!!! That's a mighty fine cup of chowda! And the baked buttered crips was spot on. Never had it that way (just the usual soft sourdough or oyster crackers) but them sliced crisps were perfect and I'm going to have to try serving it that way at home. I started out with the Hot Honey Old Fashioned, and surprisingly, there was some heat. Thoroughly enjoyed it! The Fish & Chips were breaded a bit differently. Reminds me of the cornmeal you'd find in the south with fried catfish and what not. The cod was flaky and perfect. It came with three pieces and it was just right. The fries complimented it well. The tarter was legit. Not the standard white sauce, but seemed to have a hint of dill in it. All in all, a great experience for my first time. The staff was busy, but they ensured I was tended to. You will get good drinks for a good price (probably the cheapest in Westport, but I don't necessarily pay very close attention). Bartenders are awesome. We have only eaten breakfast food, but it's good and well portioned just like you would expect. And yes, there's a Touch Tunes!

We sat with Mark for hours chatting about life, the bar business, cooking, marriage, kids and everything else. Mark has owned the bar for 10 years and told us his story of buying it and caring for it. Mark is a fisherman in Alaska, so if you get the fish, know that he has prioritized the best catch for your fish and chips. Get the cod two ways! They make it fried with a Mack and Jacks beer batter as well as grilled with an herb butter. Himself the Husband and I had it both ways - both divine.
