I love the new style ordering! Walk up and order what you want! Sit down beer delivered followed by piping hot fish n chips faster than McDonald's and soooooo much better! The Cod fish n chips is absolutely epic! Pretty sure the best I've ever had! Big thick juicy pieces perfectly battered! Fries were good. Tartar sauce was delicious! Very fresh oyster shooter! Had an Angry Octopus IPA it was served just the way I like it very very cold! Great friendly service. Lots of seating! Clean and very nice atmosphere. Wow! The food here blew my mind. The halibut sandwich was incredibly tasty and fresh. Husband had oyster shooters and the famous crab cakes. Crab cakes were so good! He loved the fresh pico de gallo and was basically eating it on its own rather than accoutrement at one point. Kiddo had the chowder in a sourdough bowl and loved it. We got here in the dark after a 4 hour drive and had a funny moment trying to find access to the entrance. The big sign that points to the front door is not in fact pointing at the red patio door! Entrance is in the alley. Server was super friendly & kind. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Smallish space, maybe 6-8 tables inside. It's December and they had a space heater going keeping it cozy & warm. Highly recommend! read more

My family and I ordered the applewood bacon burger and a combo consisting of fish (cod) and chips with calamari strips. The food was good as with any other establishments that have a similar menu. It was busy during our visit but we were lucky to find a table outside. After ordering, it got much more busier so takeout might be a better option. Would I return? been awhile having fresh seafood at any beach, but was really craving something, 1st thinking a good fresh battered fish & chips, then changing it up to some good old fresh battered prawns, & Bennett's did not disappoint, very interesting take having them deep fried on a skewer but the the "big shrimp" were nice size & succulent, with a nice tarter sauce to complement them & the well proportioned perfectly deep fried fries which I could not finish. The staff were very very pleasant, place fairly busy for an October but a nice sunny day brings them out to the beach even then, and the turn around was quick while the food was perfectly cooked, maybe tasting slightly greasy but for deep fried can be expected. And the coffee which I typically don't order tasted great, was going to order water but that comes at a price in a bottle, oh well. I've avoided Bennett's base on the one time my wife & I went to the one in Ocean Shores, a bit larger dining area with a nice surfer shack ambience, but the service was very very slow despite the large number of young staff working there at the time, and they acted smug like they were the best fish & chips place there with over priced meals that were not that impressive. The clam strips were good, the cocktail sauce has great potential, but mine was partially frozen so it was difficult to dip into. The chips just okay. The place was crowded and it seemed that they were just like a factory making fish and chips. It wasn't close to the best fish and chips that I have had, but it certainly wasn't the worst. The chicken on the cranberry chicken salad was those cold processed slices you get on cheap cafeteria salads, but it had been in the fridge or freezer so long that it was rubbery and difficult to chew most of it. The fish (halibut) and chips were ok (maybe 2.5*), but you nearly any fish and chips you can get in say, Olympia, are better than this at a much lower price, that's pretty sad. We came to Westport on a whim and decided on this place also on a whim. I'm pretty glad we went! It was good food! We had the breaded halibut/strips combo and the crab melt. Portion size: 5/5. Just perfect for us, the combo was actually a bit larger than we thought. Spicy level: 0. We didn't actually order anything spicy and the breading could have used a bit more pepper, but we're used to eating spicy. Flavor: the fries were a bit too salty but the crab melt balanced it out. It was fresh, light, and perfectly balanced the plate in terms of flavor. The combo could have used a bit more green (visually, haha). Price: a bit pricy but the food was good enough that I didn't mind. No pics of the melt since I demolished it as soon as it was set down. Overall, 8/10. You can expect to spend 200+ if you're bringing the family Family dining, subject to everything's extra which means everything is an upsell. What do I mean? For starters... if you're going to pay $26 for two pieces of halibut and a pile of fries, it should come with a tiny side of complementary coleslaw, don't you think? But no, no no no no, not here, coleslaw additional upgrade, everything's subject to upgrades and add-ons. Great place to come if you've won the lottery and want to pay twice as much for what it should be. The food is good it's not too greasy. The fries were crisp and crunchy which means they change the oil frequently but I have to say it's incredibly expensive. You can go to someplace like Stanley and Seafort's, or Anthonys on the water and pay similar prices with better experience and refined atmosphere. In other words, this is like tourist trap pricing. Love this place. Came here repeatedly last summer while we were 'babysitting' a 125' Classic yacht on its way down the coast. We are here currently for a couple of days 'adventure trip' and we just HAD to come here for lunch. The fish is what it should be: a full legit portion of fish only lightly battered and fried crisp. Very disappointing. My wife took a couple bites of the halibut fish and chips and didn't eat the rest. They apologized but that was it. It was very dry and not good at all. Cod was decent. Women's bathroom was very smelly and there was a fish smell when we walked in. The French fries were good, but not worth the $50 cost for lunch for 2. I would not recommend. This time with a group of 5 it was a bit more challenging to get a table, but people move in and out of here pretty quickly so there was a table available in time to sit down and eat. The line was out the door on Labor Day weekend at dinner time, but the time passed quickly with fun conversations with other patrons. The servers do have to weave in and out of the line delivering food but they maintained their composure and did it with a smile. The food comes quickly and it is hot when delivered. Burgers, Cod, and Clam Strips were all delicious and the fries held their own too. The coleslaw had a little different sauce than I am used to, but I would get it again. We arrived to a busy place Saturday evening. This place is a local treasure. We spent part the day at the 33rd Annual Crab Races... so much fun!!!! Dinner was wonderful! Fish cooked to perfection, and a Caesar salad that was plentiful. The Cranberry Chicken salad was full of chicken, cranberries, and cashews! The kids meal is enough if you are not so hungry. I don't get to visit Westport very often but when I do, I always eat here! Their food is very fresh and extremely delicious! My favorite is their applewood bacon cheeseburger and my husband's favorite is their clam chowder. You won't find a better burger anywhere else! The restaurant is also very cozy and has a great view right by the ocean docks. Plus the staff is always friendly, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend eating here!!! read more

The food is good and the staff seems to care. The atmosphere can get a bit loud and crowded on summer weekends. You have to go up to the counter and serve yourself more than I think is reasonable given their prices. The food is tasty, though. You have to pay when you order and they ask for a tip on the charge receipt when you pay which never seems correct when restaurants do this. Makes me feel like I'm paying a bribe than giving a reward for good service. read more

No waiters must be an ocean shores thing. You go up and order, sit down and the food is brought to you. When it comes out though, it is hot and fresh. Seriously, be careful...you could burn your month. The problem is the food is so tasty you want to keep eating it without the time to cool it off. I had the battered cod and clams combo and the wife had the battered prawns. The prawns where unique in that they came on a skewer that was dipped in batter and deep fried. They were very good. (Had to try one or two) the fish was very flaky and tasty. Definitely was fresh. After a family day at WestPort Light state park we came across Bennet's Fish Shack. How the reviews vary from person to person. You never know until you try it out yourself. I'm here to tell you that our experience was 5 stars! From what the eye can see the indoor and outdoor dining were very clean. Step up to the counter to order. I appreciate the staff who were patient with us while we decided what everyone wanted. Their brand of water bottles are such a good deal and are plenty to douse the salty deep fried goodness. The prices are fair considering how generous they are with the portions of food. The pieces of cod were huge! I have never seen that in California. Fries are a win. I will say the clam strips are not terrible. A suggestion of less batter so one can taste the clams. If you order anything, do yourself a favor and get the cheese curds. That was a crowd favorite for the family. It's the little things, but the delicious cocktail and tartar sauce were in actual containers that allowed you to dip your fish etc. How annoying it can be to spoon out sauce from those tiny sauce cups. The Bar is pretty standard as far as pricing, as a resident of Ocean Shores it is a bit of a put off that they do not stay open thru winter for the residents. The clam chowder too thick, flour or cornstarch overload, and lacked flavor. Halibut a bit overcooked. Fried crispy and tasty. Generous serving of wine and the Chardonnay was good. They mess up our order and for a long time we had the chips without the fish. We observed they messed up other people's orders. The right hand did not know what the left was doing.
