Our friends eating a starter salad.
    Carol H.

Stopped in this popular local bar while staying in Grayland beach rental. Some friends stopped by so we went here seeing on Yelp they had several great options. We ordered the breasted fried chicken and steamed clams plus fries and clam chowder. Everything was tasty. The clams were good but for $22 they were really tiny and didn't seem like a pound but enjoyed. Fries are krinkle cut, not our favorite but ok, clam chowder good but potato's needed smaller cut and prefer creamier but good flavor. The chicken was the hit, crispy skin juicy tender meat. I could have had another thigh, sooo good. Service friendly, it was a Tuesday evening so it got really busy for Bingo that starts at 6:30.

Been here quite a few times - always spend time at the Local when I visit Grayland. Everyone is friendly and the food is good. Stopped in recently and saw they have all new comfy chairs, barstools, and carpet which looks really nice. We had the oyster burger with macaroni salad that was excellent and I had the local shrimp salad which was wonderful.

Unpretentious place with solid eats and great drink selection. Staff are super friendly and slightly surly in a fun way if that's possible. I always look forward to a stop here when camping or out for a clam dig.

We were staying at Grayland Beach State Park and visited the Local Bar & Grill twice. Our server the second time, Madison, was so kind. She helped me learn how to play the Punchboard games they have for food prizes, answered all my questions. Also the food here is amazing. The first night we had chicken gizzards and a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. The second visit a taco salad and their "Local Burger". It was all perfectly cooked. Ate all of it and completely forgot to take pics the first night, but I remembered the second night. Good local beers on tap. Small community feel. Definitely recommend.

Great food, great prices, great service, a whole lot of fun! My in-laws have a cabin in Grayland and this is their favorite spot, especially because of the pull tabs. The food never disappoints and it's always great fun. I attempted the burger challenge and failed (see the remains vs the start). But I will triumph eventually.

We enjoyed our lunch here. Friendly servers, good food, good prices. Classic dive bar comfortable and clean.

Relaxed & simple. Bingo night draws a big crowd. As you might expect, their potato salad is really good.

They donated a $25 gift certificate as a prize! There are a lot of things here to really like with a few cringeworthy parts, too. Near as I can tell, this was opened late in 2023 so it seems they're still getting their feet under them. The building and finished space is done quite nicely though there seems to be a bit of an identity crisis. Is it farmhouse? Roadhouse? Bistro? The decor and music choice is kind of all over the place. Three things that bothered us... the fast food drink machine and ice dispenser. Looks terrible and the sound of the ice machine rattled throughout the dining room our entire visit. Do us all a favor and just use an ice well. While I'm speaking of noises, PLEASE change the battery of that smoke detector in the bathroom hall. Shouldn't even have to say that. Finally, the bathrooms need to be clearly marked. They're off in a corner and I heard virtually every guest ask where they were. Just put up a sign. Now that my gripes are off the table on to the rest. Our server was quite pleasant. Despite our obvious newness and my joviality, she got us through our order and took good care of us. Order was entered properly and came out properly. The food itself was absolutely top notch. Rib steak was perfectly medium rare and the mashed Yukon gold potatoes were amazing. My wife had the seafood pasta that she really loved. They held the oysters for her but it still was more good than she could eat. Shrimp and scallops were super tender and the clams and crab rounded out the dish. Sauce was light and creamy with just a hint of garlic. Prices are higher than diner fare but the quality and value is there to make it worthwhile. Definitely a place to come back to, just so long as they tweak the things that need tweaking.

They handled our table of 10 really well. Drinks were creative, pretty and delicious. We shared starters and salads and enjoyed them all. Fried oysters (needed more of that delicious sauce!), fried green tomatoes, and foresters' toast were all delicious. The mushrooms and sauce on that toast is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. We loved the arugula salad. Beautifully presented and the flavors shined - pine nuts, parm and truffle. The sorghum salad was both a surprise and comforting. Such an interesting salad! Everyone loved their entrees. I had the fried chicken. Some of the best I've had. (Note: you can request their spicy sauce on the side, and it's worth it. Doesn't hide the chicken flavor but enhances.) But IT almost overshadowed by the biscuit. I'm going to dream about that crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside biscuit. Loved the mashed potatoes with pan gravy and collards as well. Others had shrimp and grits, pork chop, and rock fish. Everyone raved. Frankly, I don't think you can go wrong here. A memorable meal that I'd be happy to enjoy weekly.

I just assumed it was done to order and got doubly excited for some smoky grilled oysters I was fixin' to have. I got inside and placed my order and waited for them to hit the table. During that time I didn't see any oysters come from the building and go to the grill. When my oysters came to the table, Manuel came from the kitchen where he and a lady had spent most the time while I was there. The oysters looked exactly how the pictures looked and were piping hot. I waved my hand over the oysters towards my nose......no smoke smell. I leaned away, very surprised on why I couldn't smell smokiness. I picked up my fork and bit into an oyster. I tasted no char or smoke of any kind. My oyster had been broiled. So, I had to call Manuel and ask how the oysters were prepare. He told me that the oysters take 18 mins. to prepare and sometimes the wait when there is a lot of people, causes a long wait time. I was the only person in the restaurant, until I got up to pay. He implied that sometimes to avoid a wait, another preparation style is used with the grill in the "back" and this was the technique that was used to make my order. I only observed smoke and wood smell from the front grill that was closest to the front door of the restaurant. Also, he said that oysters are prepared one of three ways....pan fried, fried, or grilled. My oysters weren't prepared any of the three ways he mentioned. All this said to me while it sounded like he was gathering his thoughts and mumbling his words. I must've come on a bad day, Manuel did mention how business had been bad for him.

There were 6 of us and we ordered various meals - Captains Choice, Biscuits and Gravy with eggs and the Siren's Breakfast Sandwich. All the breakfasts included the cornmeal biscuit. We also ordered a Hawaiian cinnamon roll to be split with everyone. Our meals arrived and we were all excited to eat. We reminded our waitress that the cinnamon roll hadn't been brought to our table yet. She said "Oh, do you want to eat that here or have it to go?" We said we wanted it for here. My sister ordered scrambled eggs, but was given over-easy eggs. My husband's eggs were completely forgotten. My husband offered to eat my sisters eggs that were cooked wrong while she waited for her scrambled eggs to be prepared and delivered. I opened up my biscuit to put the whipped butter on it that was provided and the biscuit was luke-warm and didn't even melt the butter. I took a bite anyway and was disappointed at how dense, crumbly and salty it was. Thinking it was just me, I didn't say anything to my fellow dining companions. I moved on to the rustic potatoes and even though they looked nicely browned, the centers were undercooked. Unfortunately, the bacon was also overly salty. Because of all the salt, I went through two full glasses of water during my meal, of which I only ate half. My brother-in-law who had the biscuit breakfast sandwich said "what is so salty??" I said it was the biscuit. Everyone else at the table agreed. Someone else said their bacon was overly salty too. My brother in-law also mentioned that she forgot his cinnamon roll again. Although the coffee was good, we were never offered any refills. We all left 1/2 or more of our meals on our plates. We were all clearly finished with our meals when the waitress came back and asked if we were ready for our cinnamon roll. By then it was too late. We said no. We didn't want it anymore. No plates were ever cleared from the table. She just returned with our checks and left. We were very disappointed. As my dad used to say, That was a 3 timer. First, last and never again.
