Stopped for dinner on a Monday. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and intended to split an order of cod fish & chips with my wife. We ordered glasses of white wine. The wine came, and my wife's reisling was not very good. They did remove it from the tab. It turned out that the wine was from a quality winery that we were familiar with, so can't explain why it didn't taste good. Food was served quickly and initially too hot to eat. The bowl of clam chowder was very good, and a generous portion. The fish and chips were cooked well, but only two small pieces of cod. Confusing experience at Mike's Seafood. The sign and menu both say "Oyster Bar," but the menu inside only lists cocktails. When we asked owner/server Mike where the oysters were, his response was, "If you seriously wanted oysters, they havent been here for a long time, your looking at old information." ​The Hood Canal oyster shooters were excellent and easily the best part of the mea even though they weren't served with oyster forks and we had to set our spent lemons on paper napkins because they weren't served with saucers. The rest of the food was disappointing: calamari came out slightly overcooked and we had to share from the appetizer plate since we were not given individual plates. , The fish on the fish and chips was soggy and tasted like it had been sitting, even the fries lacked crispness and flavor. Had dinner here with a friend and would definitely be back. I had a platter with two pieces of fish, shrimp, clam strips and fries. I like the batter on the fish they used. My friend had a burger, and she enjoyed it. Friendly, patient waitress/server and she corrected an error quickly with no issues. There is a lot more seating than one would think just by viewing the front of the building. I drove past this place a million times and when I finally came here, I was surprised by how spacious it is. There's a bar in front and then two dining rooms. She was kind friendly and knowledgeable i don't eat fish or tartar sauce ever i don't like mayo but this tartar sauce was amazing witch the server recommended she said it does not taste like mayo also i tried the fish & chips halibut it was perfectly cooked most important of all it was not greasy nor the fries. The business owner was my host, server, and chef and managed to do a phenomenal job throughout. I got the cajun clams and that was the best meal I had ever gotten in Ocean shores and I've been there a lot. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt like this place deserved it. I stopped in for a to-go order and had the garlic cream pasta with chicken, and it was packed with flavor. The chicken itself was a little on the plain side, but honestly, the sauce made up for it--it had a lot of depth and didn't feel overly salty or heavy. Overall, it was a 10/10 dish, and I'd definitely eat here again. I also had the chance to chat with (I believe) the owner while I was waiting, and he was so genuine and kind. He let me know they didn't have crab at the moment because of a tough season and rising market prices--which I appreciated the honesty about. It made me respect the place even more. You can tell he really cares about what he's doing. I'll definitely be back when crab is back in season--looking forward to trying their crab garlic cream pasta next time! read more

We ordered the cod & chips for $19.99 as well as the Dungeness crab at market price for $60. The cod & chips were not good. The batter on the fish seemed underdone and a bit soggy and the fries were very sad and plain. Nearly everything about the dungeness crab was disappointing. The menu indicated that it came with butter, bread and a side. The melted "butter" that came with it was a tiny cup that was only half full and didn't even taste like butter, but like melted margarine. The roll it came with wasn't even warm. It seemed like it was just taken from a bag of rolls and put on the plate. The crab itself wasn't great either. Like it was previously frozen or something. It didn't seem very fresh or moist. The one thing it had going for it was that the portion was good at a full pound. The service wasn't much better. Our waitress was nice enough. She asked how the food was and when I told her it wasn't very good she just said ok and walked away. She didn't inquire what was wrong or offer to make it better in any way. After that she didn't come back to check on us or offer to fill our empty water glasses. Overall this place had pricing like a fine dining establishment, but the quality and atmosphere of a diner. Got there, was seated and provided a couple of menus with one labeled Oyster Bar!! It was a bar menu but only with drinks and no oysters. Asked if there were oysters and was told "on the half shell? I wanted a picnic on the beach with my dog as a last meal for my trip to Ocean Shores I was put off by the price at first. I chalked it up to the cost of doing business these days. What I didn't know yet was I am paying for quality my friends! I used to be a fry cook back in the days. This was sooo gooood. Firstly the meal came with malt vinegar, ketchup, tartar (I'm pretty sure it's house made) and a real lemon wedge! Not lemon juice packet! Fresh lemon!! The fries were great - crispy and golden. They did not taste of fish so perhaps they use a separate fryer for the non-fish menu items. Now the fish. This was tempura battered fish. The breading was just enough to be crunchy but not overwhelm the fish. I tasted fish folks! Not grease, not breading, fish! I can't tell you how easy it is to overwhelm your fried fish with oil and breading. My hands and mouth were not an oil slick afterwards either. My guess is this was fresh, clean oil. I beg of all the fry cooks out there: change your oil regularly. Filter your oil at least every other day. This makes a huge difference!! This place has been voted best fish in Ocean Shores multiple years in a row and I can see why. Please stop by if you're in the area. Support small businesses!! read more

We decided to try Mike's for lunch. It's a decent place with a good sized dining area. It's decorated in a nautical theme of course. We were all alone after 1230. I ordered the Crab Louie and there was a good amount of Dungeness on the salad. It had cucumbers, olives, diced tomato, and a half boiled egg on the side with Thousand Island of course. Mrs Billy D had Fish and Chips and a salad. I enjoyed the Louie. Getting one always makes me wonder why I don't do that at home. I really should. Our guy was most likely the cook as well. He was the only person working I think. He was nice and from our conversation I surmised he was probably the owner. We tried vodka oyster shooters. I'm not an alcohol shot kind of guy and enjoyed the oyster and cocktail sauce but could have done without the stream of fire down my throat. Oh well lesson learned. We were hoping for a unique ocean shores seafood experience and got an experience more akin to cheap back alley fake seafood joint. Not recommended. ( Opinion). The crab was good well and the red potatoes that came with were tasty. Calamari was tender and thick. Wasn't rings but strips that were lightly breaded. The dipping sauce was good as well. I have a hard time making this post. I do not like to bash a business. I just know that what I have to say needs to get back to the owner and any future customers. I hope that the owners and staff can somehow figure out how to make some positive changes. Now like I said this is extremely hard for me to say. But this was hands down the most disgusting food I have ever had in my entire life and what stung the most...... I paid highly for this meal. It was so over priced for something we turned around and threw in the garbage. Our stomachs hurt and I am not looking forward to what that most likely means. I don't think any of the food had one single shake of spices. It had 0 flavor besides the foul rancid seafood smell and taste. The chowder was like eating clumpy flour with chunks of foul clams. When I first bit into the fish sandwich , I joked that maybe I need to be tested for covid. This had 0 flavor. Not a single spice not even salt. It was like they were cooking for the oldest of the old folks homes. We didn't even finish half of the food before it went in the garbage. We had ordered it to go and had to go elsewhere once we could stomach eating something else. Once we got our next meal is when we knew we didn't have anything wrong with our taste buds. Service and staff were fine and this is not a reflection on them or atleast the interactions we had. My husband and I were in Ocean Shores for the weekend and we both really wanted crab legs. We found Mike's Seafood and it advertised king crab legs on the building, so we decided to give it a try. Well, we're on a budget and market price for crab was insanely high. Instead, we chose a grilled salmon dish and a cup of clam chowder. The salmon was lovely. It had crispy edges, was flavorful without getting in the way of the fish, and it came with smashed red potatoes and sautéed zucchini. It was a great plate of food. However, the chowder. Oh. My. Goodness. I am from the Pacific Northwest, born and raised. I have had tons of chowder in my life. But absolutely none of it compares to Mike's. He is a master artist among chowder creators. I loved it so much that I wanted to cancel my impending salmon dish and just order several cups more of the magical elixir. You must try it. There are limited dining options in Ocean Shores. We reviewed the menus in advance and thought the whiskey sauce salmon sounded good. The fish was fresh. We were not impressed with the clam chowder. Customer service was great, our server was very attentive. It was amazing how quickly the food came out, fastest we've seen in any sit down restaurant that's not "fast food". Even more astounding was how quickly the customers chowed down their food. We are not fast eaters (not slow either) and several ppl came in after us and left before us! The food here is completely overpriced even for Ocean Shores. I almost didn't try Mikes because of all of the mixed reviews on Yelp, but my curiosity to find out what the place and food was like got the best of me. When I pulled up to the restaurant, there were no other cars there which almost made me turn away, but I went in anyways. No one else was in the restaurant when I got there, and I was greeted by the one server there. He was pleasant but nothing special to report there. I ordered the razor clams which came with potatoes and zucchinis. Like many other people who mentioned this on Yelp, they used way too much cooking oil on everything, and it all just came off as super greasy. It's like the the cook doesn't get that you just need a little oil to cook food, and it doesn't need to be drowning in it. Also, the menu described the potatoes and zucchinis as being cooked in Mike's special blend of spices which I'm pretty sure is Old Bay or some home made version of it. I would give the food 2.5 stars, but the reason that I dropped the overall rating to 2 stars is that the food here is outrageously overpriced. Especially for what you get. The razor clam dish was $32 which is more than the last menu photo that someone loaded onto Yelp. This came with one breaded razor clam although it was a large one. I don't believe in pointing people to other businesses in Yelp reviews, but let's just say other folks in town charge a lot less for their razor clams, give you more than one razor clam with the order, and tastes better. Try this place at your own risk. I wouldn't go back here and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Personally, I think that the food throughout Ocean Shores is overpriced and mediocre, but this place raises the bar in overpricing for not so good food. read more
