I mean this in the best of ways. Galway Bay is definitely a tourist destination. Over the top with the Irish theme. But in a super fun way. Decided on the soup of the day. Lasagna soup came highly recommended by the server. Decided to order a bowl. Came with soda bread and a yummy whipped butter. Nobody was in the restaurant when I arrived on a very very stormy Tuesday evening. Seated next to the small faux fireplace was a perfect way to spend the evening. Super friendly service too. The entire building is Irish themed. I did not visit the gift store connected to the restaurant. Next time(?), and next time I'll try one of their specialties. I LOVE Galway Bay. It's sincerely one of my favorite spots in all of Washington State. Firstly, it's got a vibe. It is Irish -- from the John Wayne movie poster for "The Quiet Man" near the front door to the tshirts decorating the ceiling to the plentiful selection of whiskeys at the bar, it gives Irish pub in every way. Nevermind the wonderful live Celtic music that's frequently performed on the small stage next to the fireplace (!) And then there's the food. I have never been disappointed and I have tried plenty of items on the menu. My all time favorites have been raw oysters (of course, this is oyster country) and the beef stew with colcannon which was a spiritual experience I've never forgotten. PLUS they make their own soda bread and it is divine. I've been going here for more than a decade and it's never wavered in the quality of the food or the hospitality. Our room in Ocean Shores wasn't ready, so our hotel recommended Galway Bay as a place to get a bite to eat while we waited. The most important feature we were looking for was "dog friendly," since we had nowhere to leave out dog, so this fit the bill. The ambiance was pretty cool. It had a very authentic Irish pub feeling. There's a family friendly eating area and a 21+ bar area. In the corner of the bar, there's a huge life-like cylindrical Guinness pint that is a door to the outdoor patio, which is the dog friendly area. To reach the dog friendly area, you had to walk through the restaurant. I was so proud that my very excitable pup did not bark as we rushed her through! The dog friendly area is fully enclosed and has some comfortable outdoor seating and even a koi pond. The seats were a bit dusty (I get it, they're outside), but we sat anyway. When another group came in, a waiter wiped off their seats for them, so I'm not sure if you have to ask for that, or how to get that service. I'm ok roughing it. The food was pretty good. I liked my husband's sausage roll. My seafood chowder was just ok, I've had better. The colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage) was delicious. My husband and I disagreed on the soda bread - he thought it needed more of that "soda" taste, I thought it was great because I don't really like that baking soda taste. I liked that they offered Guinness Zero and other nonalcoholic beers. The last thing is that the service was alright, but weird. The young man who led us through the restaurant to the patio was great, he even brought out a bowl of water for our pup. We had to go into the bar to order and I felt like I was inconveniencing the bartender by wanting to order food. She kept me waiting a while. Then when I tried to order for both my husband and me, she told me we would have to come in separately to order because it was a 21+ area so she needed to see each of us. Which might make sense except I was ordering one NA beer and one soda. I tried to explain that I wasn't ordering two alcoholic drinks but she said, no, it's not about the alcohol, it's about the patio being 21+. I had the absolute worst experience of my life at Galway Bay Irish Pub. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant-only two other guests were finishing up. We ordered a mac and cheese appetizer, which took over 30 minutes to arrive and tasted watered-down with zero Gouda flavor. We waited over an hour for our main entrees. While we sat there patiently waiting, another table came in an half an hour after us and received their food instantly. The server was completely attentive to the white customers while entirely ignoring us. When our food finally arrived, it was unacceptable. My pasta was cold and completely bland. The Caesar salad tasted off, and the lettuce on my daughter's burger was brown and completely rotten. The burger itself was smaller than a McDonald's hamburger, and the fries were cold. My daughter only ate the small burger because she was starving after sports practice. When I complained to the manager about the hour-long wait and the cold, ruined food, she was even worse than the server. She didn't apologize at all. Her only response was, "Well, we have a lot of to-go orders." She took the cold pasta away, gave us a pathetic $1.80 discount on the cold fries, and just walked away from our table. There was no one even around to notify that I wanted to pay because the staff completely vanished. As we left, the server had the audacity to mutter under her breath that I "should have said something." We were extremely polite and patient throughout this entire nightmare, yet we were forced to pay $75 for a single burger and some drinks because the rest of the meal was inedible. We had to immediately go somewhere else and spend another $41 just to get a fast, decent meal. Do not waste your money or your time here. The management and staff are completely disrespectful and the food is hazardous. read more

Saw the billboards driving into town and decided to check it out. So glad I did. Corn beef egg rolls are chefs kiss. Flavorful, light, crispy. Fish and chips was spot on, not too heavily battered. Had an absolutely lovely time here. Came on 7/27 around 6pm. We were seated quickly and told that food might take awhile due to low staff. Had no issue with this as we were listening to a someone play the piano. The whole environment felt so friendly and welcoming, wish I was from around there and could call that my local pub! Irish mule was $10 and strong, food was tasty! My boyfriend is from England and approves of the sausage roll. I ordered a burger and it was great! We were told the dessert options and got the slice of chocolate cake. SO DELICIOUS! I absolutely recommend stopping by here if you are in the area or passing through. We had 4 in our party it was a busy night. We had a very bad service we were basically ignored. It took 2 1/2 hours to get our food. We never got our salad and our water glasses never got refilled. I don't think we'll be coming here on trips to Ocean Shores anymore. Horribly tasting and horribly expensive meal here last week. The calamari was over priced, tasted like a freezer and was all crumbly breading. Maybe three bites that weren't. The bangers and mash was barely warm and flavorless. Mash tasted from a box. The worst part was the drinks. I ordered a well whiskey, only to find out their well is Jameson and $9 a shot!!! Absolutely ridiculous. A double whiskey and coke should not cost $18. read more

If you're hankering for Good Irish Faire this is where you go. The menu is vast, each exceptional Irish dishes truly fits-the-bill. The restaurant, pub, bar, entertainment venue, shop and lounge are all skillfully appointed without being either quitch or crazy cluttered. A must go if wishing to see real "football". I'm giving three stars because we have had much better food in the past. I hope it was a bad night and not the norm. My meal came out lukewarm but didn't send it back because it took an hour to arrive at our table. They did warn us about the possibility of a long wait, so we were ok with that but it must of been sitting on a warmer for a while for sure. Now ordinarily, Irish food is not particularly remarkable. In the hands of Chef Adam, something extraordinary is produced. The guy just Knows Stuff, some arcane knowledge, who knows. This is our second time there. Jeramy was our server. Very attentive. Double checked our order before he left. The special soup du jour was cream of tomato and basil soup. This was one of the best soup I have ever had. I had the rack of lamb (4) piece with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were real and not a box potato that is smooth. This had real chunks of potato's that weren't completely mashed indicating it was home made. My other partner had the Christy's Celtic cob salad with chicken. The word used was yummy to describe the taste. They gave a large dining area so that kids can eat, a pub side and rooms for large groups. It was designed with a wood interior. Went there with a group of 18 for a drink. We haven't been there in several years due to horrible service in the past years. We attempted to give them grace and try it again....same horrible experience. Now they could be great for some but 18 people turning around and leaving on a Thursday night in Ocean Shores seems like a poor decision. We could do two tables and didn't have to sit together. Mind you it was empty in January!! She said no. We said okay how about the bar - three people were in the bar. It was empty. She said no!! Wth! many fond memories dining here with my wife, good food & ok service, hesitant coming back since she's been gone but thought it was time, but what the hell, shepherds pie was delicious but no soda bread that I specifically requested and treated like I wasn't there waiting to be seated, for water, then order meal, Irish coffee, then meal I expected to take some time. Even when I first waited to be seated the other waitress glanced at me with a dirty look, no smile or greeting, then after ordering, when I came back from the restroom, even though my coat was still hanging on my chair, the hostess had cleared my table including my water that she got for me earlier because I had still been waiting to order, then again after going to the restroom after my meal like she couldn't wait for me to leave, and my coat was still on my chair, would have been nice to catch one last drink of water before I left. Caught my waitress at the cash register to pay up, told her I didn't get any soda bread, she appoligized & asked if I still wanted it & I said I just want to pay my bill which I still left an appropriate tip. The piano man provided great music, place still has that nice ambiance, food still great that I had, the Irish coffee was warm like it sat for awhile, I can't see myself ever returning again & embarrassed to recommend to anyone. I came in with fairly low expectations because of the 3.5 Star Rating. I must say, there are a lot of Yelpers that simply wouldn't know a good Irish meal if it danced a jig on their face!! This food was absolutely spot-on! Combine that with solid live music (weekends during the summer and early fall), plenty of funky decor, and warm and friendly staff, and our experience was nothing short of 5-stars. Ordered an Irish whiskey that was supposed to come with whipped cream on top but did not. Ordered the mac and cheese and was told that they were out. Settled for the Caesar. Blah. All of the lettuce was pink. If you have salad on the menu, make it spectacular. Cut to romaine fresh, it only takes a few seconds. Pink oxidized Romain is very unappetizing. Greeted by a non friendly non smiling seater that was more worried by the looks of his hair then anything else. There were empty tables but still waited more than ten minutes to be seated. The music was live I will give them that, but it was way too loud for the size of the room...you couldn't hear the person across the table from you. The wait time for food was exceptionally long but it was a busy day and then it was disappointing compared to times we'd been here in the past. Not enough fish for the price they are charging for fish and chips...and didn't even get crackers or bread with the chowder. At the end asked the same hair tossing seater for a Togo box when he cleared a plate but apparently couldn't remember after tossing the hair again so ended up asking a different server for the box. read more

We love a review update! As you can see I've been to Galway Bay in the past and it's still just as delicious! Service was definitely kind of spotty this past visit, but not necessarily bad. They were super slammed and we kept getting forgotten, but all in all it wasn't too bad. We had checked out the menu before coming and knew all of what we wanted... And everything we wanted, they were out of. So we had to improvise and try other items. We got the cheese curds which were good, and then we also got the Corned Beef Egg Rolls were which DELICIOUS. Such an awesome fusion item that I definitely wanted more of! The Corned Beef was cooked perfectly and the sauce they serve it with was the perfect compliment. We split an order of the Shepherd's Pie and it was amazing. I love lamb and it was cooked perfectly in this dish. Mashed potatoes were also perfect. I don't always stop at Galway Bay during our trips, but it was a solid reminder of just how good they are! read more

Aesthetic is a 5; food was a 3. First, the food. Ordered the rack of lamb and the toasted tuna fish. Friend reported the fish sandwich was ok, but it was the size of a child's portion. The lamb at $33 was a disappointment with 3 pieces of broccoli, side of mash with cauliflower stuffed inside and small meat. No seasoning or butter on anything, and no salt and pepper on the tables. No bread. Our waitress introduced herself to us three separate times and gave us someone else's check after running our card. They have a small stage for live music, a bar, lounge room, cigar room and a room with pool and shuffleboard. There's an outdoor patio where smoking is allowed. read more
