We honestly didn't care for the place and the entire dinner felt extremely weird. When we came in and placed our drink order, our waiter came by and took my water for some reason, he then proceeded to drop off a plate of sliced butter. We ordered pasta dishes with no bread, so the plate of ice cold butter slices was so confusing. The pasta was honestly really plain, and the shrimp in the pasta still came with its hard shells in the tail. There was barely any sauce to where the noodles almost looked bare. The restaurant itself is beautiful but that's where my positives end. The service was extremely slow. The cut of filet I received was truly the strangest filet I've ever had especially for $55! The worst by far was the $24 a piece we were charged for a simple bowl of spaghetti noodles with butter for our children times 2! $48 for two bowls of spaghetti with butter! Usually we love Capri, and maybe it was because they were very busy, but this Valentine's day the service and food were not good. They brought our food (almost threw it on the table) and immediately the server ran off without saying a word. Mine was wrong, so my husband would not eat (his lasagna was huge and looked amazing, but we could not find the server. I think it was the owner that helped us find our server after a while and he advised to remake it, which was nice , but it took forever. The server did apologize and we were trying to still enjoy the time since it was Valentine's day and made light of it. However, when she brought the new food, my husbands new lasagna was LESS THAN HALF the size of the first one they brought, covered in tons of sauce and did not in any way look like the first one that had mozzarella and garnish on top . This one did not. We were thinking they were trying to recoop maybe? He ate it in 4 bites and its a $24 lasagna. Then, my gluten free pasta was extremely hard and not in any way cooked right, and the lobster and seafood was extremely overcooked and very chewy. For our $130+ bill, we were VERY disappointed. The warmth of family, friends, and a real wood fire that warmed my heart and soul. When we are at Capri, the genuine love for people and great food is so evident. IF you want fresh, quality, food made with care and love... this is the place. Oh my--- always the hand made yeast rolls with such sweet butter. The soup was incredible, again homemade. Even if we didn't get a picture of the house hand made ravioli they are an incredible blend of ricotta with spinach, so creamy in a light cream tomato sauce. The lamb shank was fork tender, as was the chicken in the Pollo Con Salsico (chichen with wine, rosemeary, crimini mushrooms , & Italian sausage). Husband had tortelloni alla Papalina(tortelloni with prosciutto, cremini mushrooms, in a wonderful flavorfull cream sauce) He said it was the best he's ever had. I agree. Table setting are always elegant, charming. Let me tell you about last night's 5 course dinner: Know that this is an adventure, an evening to enjoy . Aruturo uses Liquers, flaming brandy liberally. This makes each course a thrill, and oh my and a taste delight.The first course was deep fried Zucchini flowers with a crisp, light crust, stuffed with ricotta and gouda cheese with a mint sprig for colour. They were plated with diced pickled beets with a secret ingredient and a balsalmic reduction for added zest and a handmade saffron wafer. Second Course: The very best, marvelous taste and texture scallitelli ( hand made noodles) with beef tenderloin. The so tender beefstrips were braised in vodka and Brandy,herbs ( maybe basil , thyme) with the addition of baby tomatoes seared in the sauce , then noodles added. This was then plated on mixed greens and dusted with fresh grated parmesan. Third course was a lovely presentation of fresh mozzarella in basil oil , with basil leaves and tiny tomatoes. Fourth course: Incredibly tender Beef short ribs in a red wine glaze... ( I know they put sprigs of rosemary into the sauce while searing.YUM). The exquisite mashed celeriac added to this harmony of flavors (wow) , as well as the spinach. The fifth course: Oh my, I'm getting hungry while I write this: Peach Melba. Arturo braised a singular orange peel into flaming Grande Marneir , stirred the peeled orange to mix the Grande Marneir blend, then added peaches. The heavenly warm peaches are then plated with vanilla ice cream, a strawberry reduction, and a mound of real whipped cream. I'm not a cook, I am a lover of excellent quality food, service, and Taste, Flavors. Don't be deceived by the name: Capri is far from being "The Goat" as the kids say today. Those who have palettes that are aided by a side of emotional abuse might enjoy stumbling upon Capri in Northern Indiana. It is a lovely building with a relaxing ambiance, but it doesn't seem like they like to serve customers. My husband and I had eaten Thanksgiving Dinner elsewhere and came to Capri for dessert almost by accident (it's a long story). My husband decided he wanted more than just dessert, so I ordered a house salad. I don't like vinaigrette dressing, so I tried to get just olive oil and apparently that can't happen. I decided to make the best of it, but it was not eatable so I gave it to my husband. And he was happy because his $23 entree did not come with a salad. When I ordered the Tiramisu, the waiter acted like I had requested the most annoying thing in the world. It was ok. It might have been better if I didn't already have a bad taste from the less than stellar service in my mouth. My husband said his eggplant was ok, but for $23 it should have had a salad and pasta with it. I don't drink, so for all I know the wine menu might have been fine, but maybe the reason they serve Irish Coffee is that customers feel so bad after meeting the waiters that they need a shot of liqueur. Verdict: Cosimo and Susie's is authentic, people are friendly, and the food tastes good. Go there instead of Capri. read more

Service was great but she misunderstood my husband's order for a beef dish and gave him a pasta dish. There were mushrooms that he thought must have been the beef. It wasn't on the menu shown online. I got the"Thanksgiving special" that was turkey medallions with sausage stuffed in them. The first bites were gristly and I should have sent it back, but I did tell the waitress about it. It was good but dessert was a real disappointment to me. I should have known better - it was lemon cake and was soaked in lemon juice I guess. The cake part was soaked and the icing was flavorless to me. It's a beautiful ambiance and maybe that's why I expected it to be a little better. The dinner rolls were excellent and the lentil soup I got was also delicious. It was included in my meal, but my husband was charged extra for his Caesar salad. They did charge less for his dinner so that made up for it I guess. Sorry this is such a long review but I was not impressed. read more

First the ambiance is very nice, and service was excellent. Meal was just mediocre. I order Veal Piccata. Three very, very thin sliced medallions, the size of a half dollar,could not have been more than 3 ozs if that much. The lemon sauce and capers had good flavor. However the serving temperature couldn't have been been more than 90 degrees there was zero temperature change when eating. The two spars of carrots and two of broccoli were steamed but again temperature of food was room temperature and pretty much flavorless. A 1/4 cup of boiled half mashed potatoes was also room temperature. I was very disappointed in the meal. The lemon cake was the only saving grace. My wife ordered Chicken dish whose flavor was good but again temperature of dinner was below serving temperature. I also had two Drambuie on the rocks. $ 97.00 plus a 25%. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

This review is so far past overdue. So, shame on me for just now writing it. During the cold winter months in the Midwest , I attended a formal dinner party being held in my honor. Initially when I lightly researched this venue, I had respectable expectations but nothing over the top, due to being a person that tries to be objective prior to experiences. Even so I was still looking forward to giving them a try. Especially due to the fact that Capri is authentic being originally owned by a chef, and is now owned by an Italian family, serving homemade pastas. And we all know homemade and authentic usually is the best!!!! When my party and I arrived we were all impressed. We were warmly greeted by the hostess who took everyone's coats and pulled out our chairs for all of us (the type of manners that are almost extinct). The decorum was rich, warm and relaxing with moderately stated old school elegance. My party and I were seated right next to their fireplace which was decorated for the holidays even though the holidays were about over. But I noticed regardless (in most parts the restaurant) of where you are seated there's a nice vantage point although being next to the fireplace is ideal. Although seating wise I don't recall seeing any booths, Capri is very compartmentalized with a bar and various seating options for different groups sizes (assuming that Covid weren't in effect). After getting situated browsing the menu, the selection was standard Italian fare. Some insalatas, mini charcuterie platter, pasta and meat options but often times with restaurants lacking extensive quantitative menu selections they compensate qualitatively taste wise. For starters I ordered the Calamari Fritti, and Insalata alla Cesare. I noticed the dinner theme for my guests as well as myself was pasta, pasta, and more pasta. I thought it was interesting that my entire party ordered pasta entrees. Any who, when my Calamari Fritti arrived it was decent. In my opinion, there's only so much you can do with squid due to its simple taste and texture. The only variation with calamari is mainly the breading. But it was good. The star of the show was the Tagliatelle del Fattore that had asparagus in it. Usually when I eat asparagus, I don't pair it with anything other than sauce/prosciutto or other vegetables. Additionally, some cooks can't seem to achieve its proper texture. Surprisingly, this dish came together well, and the asparagus completed the shrimp. As far as Capris pasta, I definitely distinguished that theirs is homemade. It had been a while since I had homemade pasta especially with the pandemic, but Capri definitely gave me a renewed appreciation for it. The hospitality at Capri was great, my guests and I also had a great time. Moreover, I feel the price for the experience was more than a bargain. I definitely recommend Capri, especially for couples nights, and formal dinners like the one I had. read more

All i can say is Wow... We were in town, attending a destination wedding, so we went out to dinner the night before the wedding. We had a large party for dinner. The service was absolutely amazing. Jackie, our waitress, was so accommodating, it was incredible. I've been to many restaurants in my life & I have to say, she was the best waitress I've ever had. She took our drink & appetizer orders & brought everything out at the precise time, so the dinner ran smoothly. The ambience was perfect. The food & wine was delicious. We had the calamari, breading was very light and crispy and calamari was not rubber like most you get. Side salads had a light slightly sweet house Italian dressing with mixed greens. Fresh dinner rolls were served with dinner. I had the bone in pork chop dinner (Costata di Maiale Masaniello), the chop was tender and tasted amazing, it had mixed veggies and scallop potatoes that were divine. My husband had sautéed chicken (Petto di pollo Valdostano) also came with accompaniments and was great. We both split parts of a chocolate and lemon cake. We stopped in here for lunch one day, the waiter was from Italy! He was wonderful. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly was not the super delicious food we received! Honestly, the food was spectacular. It was a couple weeks ago, so I am trying to remember exactly what we had - I believe I had chicken with mushrooms and cheese, and my guest had pasta. Both were delicious, hot, and really and truly Italian (I have spent some time in Italy and these dishes took me right back there). I have been thinking about both the dishes since we left. We're back!! We smelled the lovely real wood fire from our seat-- and heard the warm crackles throughout our meal. Their house wines are delicious. We ordered the antipasti (the olives that came with this were amazing! Garlic... good olive oil... definitely put this on your list) and the lasagna bolognese special-- highly recommend. Every time we visit, we leave relaxed, full, and still talking about the food. If you love Italian, this is your spot. I realize I sound like I'm an investor in this place, but I'm truly just a regular Joe who appreciates the real deal when I can find it. read more
