We got some Chinese takeout, it's very Americanized lol. I'll have to come try the other dishes besides the lunch specials and also the breakfast one day.

A very loaded Vegetable omelet. Comes with potatoes, and toast. Great deal of food , very modest price!

Valley Restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza on Bittersweet, just off "23" in Granger. We arrived to a very full lot of cars at 9:15 am. Place was busy , but found 2 seats at end of table for 8. Sharing with one of Valley's regulars, at the other end. Had all the good food I could handle. Pretty noisy, with lots of conversations. Waitstaff knew many guests by first name. Good place. Not fancy.

Update 2026: I tried the Chinese (American) food during breakfast/brunch hours and it was great! I had the orange chicken (spicy), and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant used real orange peels in their recipe and it really gave the dish a phenomenal flavor. I ordered the dish "spicy", but to be honest it wasn't spicy at all! Service: The service was great. The women working here are bustling their busy tables, but will still make time to check in. Ambiance: This place is not a looker and won't give you that Instagram worthy fuzziness, but the food and the people are amazing! This mom and pop shop will bring you back in time when life was a bit simpler. read more

Valley Restaurant has been around for years. The owners have changed, but not the general home town feel. It is very busy, especially for breakfast. The locals hang out here. So you know it's priced right. The servers hustle. The space itself is small. The food is down home good. I really have not eaten a Chinese dish there since the 90's and so cannot speak on it. Try it out. The parking lot is small. Get your steps in and park at the CVS. read more

Food is great like always, but service is horrible. Groups of people sat after me, served, ate, and left before I was even offered another drink besides water. I inform the wait staff and they tell me I'm straight lying to them and proceed to treat me and my partner horribly. Will not be going back after a whole lifetime of loving it here. read more

Eclectic menu....american breakfast in the morning. chinese food in the afternoon. We had breakfast...it was fair. They asked if i wanted grilled onions...which I added. They were good but not a gustatory revelation. The plates are small...if you dont like food touching...ask for an item to be plated separately....all my food was piled on top of each other.im not particularly averse to food touching but this was just a pile. The dining room was clean, service was efficient and friendly. Prices are fairly low , especially in an era when a 16 ounce coffee w whipped cream on top is 7-8 dollars. read more

Love everything about Valley! The breakfast is the best and most reasonably priced in the area. The evening brings excellent Chinese food. We order carry out at least once a month. The service is classic American diner. The ladies are as wonderful as the food! Very welcoming and full of personality. You won't go to Valley for the ambience, there is none. I finally found beef teriyaki I love in Indiana. I enjoyed my Sweet & sour chicken but my appetizer made my night. Husband enjoyed his Generals. Went back a few weeks later for breakfast & wasn't as impress with my Country Fried steak, but I'm super picky & it was to peppery for me. Our friends introduced us to Valley Restaurant this weekend when we came up for a visit from Chicago. The food here is incredible, very affordable and the restaurant dynamic is neat! It's a pretty small restaurant, but they turn tables fast and the food and service were both stellar. I want to give a shout out to our server Lori; she's a very good server! We plan to visit Valley each time we come up for a visit. read more

We've only eaten here a couple of times (carry out), but the food was consistently delicious and ready when they said it would be. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. I look forward to dining in sometime! The menu isn't quite as big as some other Chinese restaurants, BUT there is a large bit of "American" food available (burgers, chicken, etc) which is nice for when someone else in the family wants something different. Overall I'm very glad we found VR and we plan on returning many times. read more

This is my first visit here for breakfast, so will give it a five at least until I try it again. The restaurant is small and very loud when even half full, but has a homey atmosphere and the waitresses are friendly and down to earth. I have to say that the prices are super-fair, since my wife and I ate for under $10.00, and both had enough and very good tasting too. For some reason, it took us a while to get the food, but did get an apology from the waitress, so that's okay. I say that if you want to go sit and drink coffee for awhile and have a very good, cheap breakfast, then you should give the Valley Restaurant a try. I recommend it. By the way, we didn't have coffee with breakfast, so don't have an opinion on that. 01/16/2018 Had another good breakfast here, the "Hot and Ready", and was excellent. The cost can't be beat- $3.70, (coffee not included), and I maintain my 5-star rating. read more

I am not a Chinese food connoisseur. But I know great and I know average (and I know terrible) sesame chicken and pot stickers. I really like both from valley. It's the place in Michiana that I go to for Chinese. And they are super nice. read more

Great little place for breakfast and lunch. It's a hidden little jewel that is located in a nondiscript strip mall off Bittersweet and just short of Hwy 23. It's tucked away in the corner two doors down from Bruno's Pizza and not that easy to spot from the road. But your search will be rewarded handsomely. It's a classic diner format with an eclectic menu of Americana as well as some tasty Chinese dishes. The breakfast menu is a classic mix found most at places with some local fare thrown in. Compared with some of the other Granger eateries, the food is very good and the price is very reasonable (I hesitate to say "cheap" for its negative connotations, but lets just say it's downright inexpensive). You won't be wowed by the ambiance, but the quality of the food for the price will bring you back. read more

Best kept secret in Michiana. Nondescript place, but great food with large portions for reasonable prices.y boyfriend would eat here daily if he could. His favorites are General Tso's and Sesame chicken. I've had beef lo mein, potstickers, crab ragoon, shrimp lo mein, shrimp fried rice, lemon chicken, and mandarin pan fried noodles (Can you tell we eat here a lot?!) All were delish. I like to sub the cantonese fried noodles for rice when I get a meal. We always get take out and it is quick and still hot when it gets here. Staff are friendly and funny. I can't say enough good things about Valley! read more

First time here & was confused on whether someone was going to seat us or we were to seat ourselves. Waitress told us that we could sit down @ the dirty table where a party of 3 just left. Said we should grab the table before it was taken. Waitress cleaned off our table, as we were seated. Ordered our food & received our order...25 minutes later. Just because you receive large portions doesn't necessarily mean it's delicious. My eggs weren't cooked as I requested, the pancakes were blah & the coffe lukewarm. Very short staffed & the atmopshere is noisy. Trying to pay & leave is very crowded since they have the entance/exit so near to the counter. Hopefully your experience here will be better than mine. read more

Excellent little find in South Bend. Among all the chains and over crowded local spots, this gem shines. We were in town for a few days and our friends introduced us to Valley after a night of drinking. Let's just start by saying that these are the best crab rangoons I've ever had and I live 20 minutes from San Francisco's China town. They are large, crispy, creamy treats served with a warm sweet and sour sauce. Simply perfect. The rest of the table dabbled in some chicken fried steak, eggs and bacon and I had the ham and cheese croissant. Valley Restaurant is extremely affordable, comfortable and tasty. We'll be sure to make a stop the next time we're back in SB. read more

Placed a carry out order this morning (5/4/26). They forgot the salsa and sour cream with my quesadillas; they forgot the side of gravy which we paid an extra $3.99 for and they gave us toast with no butter. If you do order carry out make sure you go through the bag and make sure you have everything you ordered. I did tip 15% bc I work in the service industry. I'd recommend eating at Copper Creek but not carry out.

Besides that--I hardly have much of a demand, I just want to know if my burger comes with a patty or is just brisket, as it wasn't very clearly indicated in the "burger box" Super disappointing at such a price point/location. I expect more than being visited twice in nearly 30 minutes and only getting the response of "I don't know" and "I'm not sure" I left after taking two sips of my beer, and was chased out by some manager who FINALLY acknowledged us, only trying to get paid for the single ounce of beer that I consumed, as well as two sips of (warm)unsweetened tea that my grandmother had. It's not often I leave without paying, but if you're not going to acknowledge me and cant be at least a decent host, I'll just be on my way before i get too far in. When you charge $20 for a burger, I would think the service is matching that level of quality. Yes I would like a follow up, too. Because if you got my grandma following me in agreement, there's an issue. Really disappointing, probably won't make the stops like I used to. Place appears to need some quality help.

Great Breakfast Joint - The place is Small & Loud & Busy.. so be prepared to wait on a Saturday or Sunday morning. BUT the food for breakfast is great. Very generous and delicious portions. The place is frequented mostly by local patrons that have been coming here for years. Therefore the somewhat collegial attitude from the wait staff towards the customers. If you cannot get past that, please go somewhere else, such as some national chain restaurant on Main Street. Otherwise...enjoy! PS: I have yet to come a restaurant that does both an American Breakfast and Chinese Food for lunch very well. read more

awesome experience. Our server, Stephanie, was sweet, professional and full of great recommendations. Our table had the seafood cannelloni, the shrimp Alfredo and the pork osso bucco, all of which were outstanding. We eat a lot of Italian and this restaurant stands out. Rich, bold, flavors and perfect execution. The wines were great too! If you are a Cabernet fan, try the Hess select! House salad dressing was delicious too! read more

I get up some mornings and will be like man I'm really hungry, but I don't have time to make a big breakfast. So I call up Valley and will order a huge breakfast. Bam 10 minutes later it's ready, I just roll by Valley on my way to work. Thanks Valley I get to eat a big breakfast and still make it in time for work! read more
