I stumbled upon this place by accident (meant to go next door but they were closed on a Sunday.) The people here were very welcoming and had exactly the car we needed - the only problem was that it was the first car we saw. So we did do a lot of other car shopping and some research into the car we liked here, and I will say that in the end, my daughter ended up with a great car at a fair price. Let me offer a little financial education wrapped inside a story and review because what happened at Capital Auto Sales was a masterclass in "Buyer Beware 101." We looked at a used 2011 Audi with low miles that was labeled a "Great Value" online via CarFax. Fun fact: those platforms base their ratings on local market listings, not true vehicle valuation. Translation: if ten dealerships all overprice their cars, the least overpriced one magically becomes a "Great Deal." It is basically the best of the worst award. The salesman seemed friendly enough at first until he learned we had our own financing. Suddenly he avoided eye contact like the truth was physically painful. Those were absolutely not the words he wanted to hear. And that is when the "FUN" math party started. Most credit unions follow a 125 percent loan-to-value rule which means they will only finance up to about 125 percent of a car's real verified worth so you do not end up deeply upside down the moment you sign. When our lender pulled the actual numbers using industry standard data, the car's true value came back at about $11k. Not the sticker price. Not the market hype. The real valuation. So a car worth $11k has a maximum safe loan amount somewhere around $13,700 total. This includes tax, title, license, and fees. That is the cap. Period. Capital Auto Sales, however, wanted us to pay several thousand dollars more than that...and was bold enough to ask us to put money down to pay for their markups. GASP...THE NERVE! When our credit union refused to fund the inflated price, the salesman suddenly rolled out an entire menu of preferred lenders who would be thrilled to help us overpay. You know the type. The ones that would probably finance a cardboard box with wheels if the dealership slapped on a protection package and called it "premium." Yes. Those. At that point the math was mathing. Once you know the real value of a car, agreeing to pay way above that would be financially irresponsible. No amount of awkward explanations or other lenders could change basic arithmetic. To make matters even more entertaining, they also tried to slip in junk fees and a questionable "APEX Protect" package which was really just an aftermarket tracker for their benefit...disguised as a necessity. None of it added value. All of it added cost. This is not business. This is bad business. Buyer Beware truly applies here. Capital Auto Sales relies on customers not understanding loan to value rules, true vehicle valuations, or the tactics dealers use to mask inflated pricing. If you shop here, go in with your eyes wide open. Better yet, go somewhere with ethical practices and transparent pricing. Protect your wallet before their deals empty it. Well it started off great until my engine light came on not even 2000 mile into it. The 3000 mile 3 month warranty is bogus. Curtis Thornton who sold me the car was great. The management over top of him are horrible & were not even willing to work with me to solve the issue. The manager Sandra didn't want to disclose her last name. I knew then this was a red flag. I purchased a 2016 Lexus RX350 on 2/8/25. Luckily for me, I purchased an extended warranty through Liberty Shield. On 4/14/25, I experienced the car leaking transmission fluids. I took the car to the nearest mechanic shop to see what the problem could be. They discovered that the differential was cracked on the vehicle. The CarFax showed that the differential had been replaced on the vehicle, but apparently it was cracked when the dealership attempted to replace it. Ironically, I received a call from the salesman who sold me the car today, Monday, 4/21/25. I told him of the issue that I had been experiencing with the car. He asked that I send him pictures of the leaking fluid in my driveway, a picture of the cracked differential and a picture of the odometer. I had mentioned to him that I had driven less than a 1,000 miles on the car. Walter was the salesman that sold me the car. He said that he would share this information with his manager. I've not received a call from anyone as of yet. After reading all the other less favorable reviews, more than likely I won't receive any feedback in regards to my experience either. I don't know why this dealership is still in business robbing people of their hard earned money. I paid cash for this car and this is the appreciation that I get for patronizing this establishment. I would suggest to anyone who is thinking about making a purchase from this dealership to think twice because if you have an issue afterwards you will be left holding the bag with NO recourse. I had a horrible experience at this unethical car dealership. I bought a Range Rover for over 35k. First, their processing fee is $1295 plus they charge $899 for installing a tracker in all of the vehicles they call it "APEX project". You have no choice but to accept the APEX project of $899. That's fine and I accept all of the non-sense BS charges on top of the vehicle price, but here where you know this is a shady business. When inspecting the vehicle, I was told by the salesperson, Nate Herbas, that the car comes with 2 keys and was given 2 keys at the time of delivery. Upon Inspecting the key at home, I realized the second key didn't belong to the vehicle. I called them and was told to come back as it might have been mixed up with other keys with the same car make. Of course, I went and they couldn't locate the key and the sales manager promised to replace the key. So you might say, just buy another key, that is fine until you find out the cost of an extra key for these expensive vehicles. To purchase a new smart key, it is $600 and to program it, it is $300 and only can be purchased and programmed at Land Rover Dealer. Now you know why they keep jerking me around. I have been lied to over and over for over 3 weeks every time I called and spoke to the sales managers, Tony Johnson and Sandra Meneses, they promised me that they would check into it and call back, and of course, they don't call back, and that's only if they pick up the phone, as they use this tactic until you get tired and stop calling. I have initiated a complaint with the BBB. I will not recommend this shady dealership to anyone based on these unethical shady practices. Just be honest and say you don't have the key or live up to your promises to the consumer. Truly bad business practices. read more

Absolutely the worst experience i have ever had buying a car. To start every time I step into that building I felt racially profiled as if I wasn't supposed to be there. It took them 3 and a half weeks to deliver the vehicle after being told the parts was going to be a few days to get to them. I was then told the car was being sent to a specialist which never happened. I was constantly lied to by the sales rep "Devon" about the status of the vehicle and the condition of the car he told me the top worked fine.The day I went to pick the car up took the top down it didn't go back up. I was then told "not to take it back down until I was home to be safe" The headliner falling down the passenger door didn't open properly and the list goes on. I pointed out all of these issues and was told they were going to be addressed that never happed. They had already ran my credit I paid the deposit so I had to choice really. I feel like I was swindle out of my money the only compensation given after all of that was paying half of the car note for a vehicle they had for almost a month anyways ! read more

Went to buy a car. These guys are over priced and will only budge $500 on every car I tried to purchase. They're pricing their cars at "excellent" book valves when the cars should be considered "fair". They also surprise you at the end with some junk GPS trackers they add to all their cars supposedly for an extra almost $1k and won't take it off. I'll never buy there again. I did buy a truck from them a while back and they did half $$$ paint touch ups and with a rattle can they came off in a few weeks. Never again! read more

Not a good experience. While they are very attentive to you and your needs, they also leave out key information in the buying process and even talked me into a warranty that was an extra $2K because they said it would help my interest rate go down. They didn't mention it would cost me until I looked at the final cost breakdown when signing. There has also been poor communication about my registration process. I live in Maryland and my tags have expired and the car won't pass inspection. I am making very slow progress to get this fixed (on their dime and my inconvenience), but the registration has since expired and I can't even drive the car. Be careful of the smooth talk and details. You may get a deal, you may not. If you want to feel good after the transaction, make sure you listen hard, and fully understand everything about the deal. The sale Mercedes GL450 was difficult on dealer end due to an aggressive up sale tactic adding to contract without consent more than once. This was a distant purchase phone, fax, etc. NOT IN PERSON. The third party transport was questionable because the driver was hurried. The real problem started shaking in front engine at start up. Dealership failed to return calls after preliminary complaint and directions were provided for estimates and get back with them with repair estimates. By the time we were able to get in touch with them their warranty period lapsed but they did assured us they would review estimates get back with us. We are still waiting. The repair was a timing problem $8K. We still haven't heard back from the dealer. At the sale it was told that a sales manager apparently had to be let go because too many complaints about the unsolicited and no advice on up sells placed on contract. Our experience we can only conclude that the dealer's customer service, training, CARE, even product quality needs to be reviewed. No recommendation either way. Things occur but business communication whether yes or no is the answer needs a professional overhaul. It is fair to say that they offered to work something out, several times but they failed to communicate. It's like the dealer wants to avoid problems. Not good for business with us anyway. I would leave ZERO STARS if I could! I was screwed over by capital auto sales in Frederick md today. We went to see a car we saw online and after much talk and the sales guy Enrique offering to fix the scratches and paint marks on the glove box and install blue tooth we decided to buy it. We did the financing and Enrique told me how much I had to put down and what our monthly payment is. I gave him the check and he told me to go get my car that I was trading in and three pay stubs and he would get all the paperwork ready for me while I was gone. When I was on my way back 30 minutes later he called me and said the owner said not to sell it to me because he didn't want to wait to receive the financed funds and someone else was coming in to pay cash for the car. How awful! We had a deal and he screwed us over. My husband still went in to try talking to Enrique and he laughed at my husband who was upset and Enrique could have cared less he blamed the decision to screw us over on the owner and he lied and told my husband I did not give him a check. So, we made an appointment two days ago to test drive one of their cars and the appointment was confirmed the same day AND the following day. We made an appointment for 7pm and we showed up 20 minutes earlier and told the person at the counter that we would be more than happy to wait 7 pm and the employee directed us to the car we were interested in. At some point, someone-- one of the managers or the owner, not sure--came to tell us that we may need to wait because they had someone over the phone making an offer on the car. Then a few minutes later, someone else came to greet us and let us know that the employee with whom we had an appointment with was actually not present! The first person later came back and confirmed that they accepted the offer of the person on the phone-- during the time where we were supposed to test drive the car before eventually making an offer. We understand your " first come, first serve" policy but negotiating with other people while you are supposed to show the vehicle to potential customers is just a sign of a "company" that sounds more interested into making a quick buck over showing standard customer service courtesy. Don't worry, we'll happily take our business somewhere else, we actually went to Porsche Chantilly afterward and they were nothing but WONDERFUL. PS: can't wait to read what the other side of the story is since you seem to like using that phrase. But if you know what honesty is, you'll just apologize. read more

I purchased a vehicle through Floyd who was my sales person. Also a car guy local to the area so the process was comforting. The car was priced fairly to begin with and they did knock a bit off with negotiation to make the price even better. He even offered to look at the car as a courtesy a week after I purchased it. This is where my experience really shined; due to unique circumstances, my temporary tags ended up expiring before I could renew them. Jennifer is their title clerk who helped out in a friendly fashion, and Sandra the manager even hand delivered my tags after hours to me personally! Truly incredible customer service and experience. BUYER BEWARE!!! I bought a 15 zl1 camaro only had 17k miles on it i drove it 250 miles and the motor grenaded. Keep in mind 200 of those miles was getting the stereo fixed that wasnt working from the date it was delivered. Salesman lied saying it was near perfect condition. The 3 grand bumper cover was cracked all the way down. Of course no help with none of this. Then one of the manager gets shitty with me when i threaten bad reviews there was crickets on their end until i started writeing reviews then said they would help. Absolutely a poor attempt to buy experience. Ended up buying 2 hours later at Koons Chysler 10 miles away. Why... looked at a 2012 Maserati and called Capital. Drove 90 minutes each way and they said I could not drive it unless we filled out a financial. I am like are you kidding, I drive 3 hour round-trip to look at a $25k used car and I need Financials. We made 500k last year! I refused to fill out a financial but after arguing with the new manager I showed him a paystub and he reluctantly said okay. Left with an absolute attitude that no way would I buy a car from them! BTW car had 4 major defects and they said car had undergone their 120 point check. Never told me on the phone about Financials when I made appointment to test drive the car. I told them if they have that policy that they should be upfront and tell people before they drive 3 hours round trip, or 30 minutes or 5 minutes for that matter about this weird requirement. Do not go to this dealership Highly unprofessional employees, terrible service department, sales department is incredibly rude and dismissive. I had a terrible experience with several staff members at Capital Auto. I don't know if it was because I'm a woman or if they're that disrespectful to all their customers. I had been researching for a used vehicle for several months. As Covid-19 hit I was in a bind and needed to make a purchase as soon as possible. I spoke with Dominic about a vehicle I saw on their website, secured funding, and made an appointment to go test drive it. After my initial inspection there were several concerns with the vehicle that were left out of the images online or dismissed by Dominic. Not only that, the vehicle was not cleaned prior to my arrival or while sitting at the dealership for several hours. Because I needed to leave, I was given a "We Owe You" Slip to return to the dealership for a deep clean and several repairs. The day after bringing the vehicle home the battery died. Everything was shut down a week later due to Covid-19. Fast forward three months later, this past June, I scheduled an appointment with Greg in the service department to bring my vehicle in for the deep clean and repairs (Dents and a door seal). I was quoted 2 hours for this to take place (I live over an hour a way). After 4 hours of no word, I call Greg and he was unavailable. I get back to the dealership and Greg contacts me back via phone and they had not done anything to my vehicle and they did not have the door seal to do that part of the repair. They knew several weeks in advance that I was bringing my vehicle in for service and had plenty of time to order the replacement parts. Dominic told me the day of purchase he was ordering the door seal. I will never purchase a vehicle from this dealership and I encourage everyone to look elsewhere for their new/used car needs. When asked for a copy of the warranty, we were told, " there isnt't one" . Which means not one thing of what they say is covered, are they obligated to pay. It's a scam. read more

Went today to get more information on a Lexus RCF and possibly drive the car around the block. I'm ready to buy a car in this range this weekend. When the car was pulled up I asked to I drive it. He immediately said no. He didn't want me to test drive it? So confused. The asking price is $36K, with 51k miles, not like it's a super car for $100k. Unbelievable to get a negative response when asked to test drive a car. I didn't want anything to do with this establishment and left shortly afterwards. Sales guy talked to the manager and then they allowed me to drive it. But then I just needed some air. Family wanted some good breakfast. Still puzzled why he didn't let customers test drive it. Oh, records show Lexus certified 161 certification 1/19 and inspection 1/24 and today is 1/25 so it's a good safe car. Lastly, when I was waiting for the Lexus to be pulled up, I noticed there were 4 screws in the front parking space(from the license plate of another car). I told one staff person about the negligence of not picking up screws which could easily impact another customer's tires.
