I would love to give this place a five but unfortunately they did not have my husband's favorite which is the prawns and chips. They did called to let us know that they were out and substituted something else but he was so looking forward to it. Still the food was very good! Soup, was out of this out of this world! I am not sure who the new owners are...but this place has drastically gone down hill. It used to be a weekly family favorite, but since they changed owners not only is the food absolutely awful but the customer service follows. Our entire order tasted like old fish oil, my daughter got incredibly sick after eating there, as she is allergic to shellfish....yea, I know it's a sea food restaurant, however this never happened before. Garlic fries were delicious....As many of the other reviews say, the bloodline was present in the fish. It lacked flavor. This place is delicious. I'm so happy I finally decided to try this place after driving by it so many times. I received a coupon in ValPak for a dinner for 2 for $20 which includes an appetizer, two 1 piece fish n chips and two drinks. My husband and I dined it and got the onion rings for an appetizer. They were SO good. We both loved them. The fish n chips were also amazing, although my husband wasn't as wowed as I was. He said it was okay but I thought everything was delicious. The service was alright. The food did take awhile to cook, but they cook it fresh so that's okay. This deal was really good, but the normal prices are decent I suppose. Since then, I've ordered for pick up a few times. One time I came in to pick up my order and it was very slow. The cooks (all male) STARED me down the entire time I was standing at the counter waiting to get my order. It was really awkward and bad customer service. Please don't stare down your customers and make them feel uncomfortable (reason for the 4 stars). I'm not sure what happened to this place. It used to be the same guy doing all the cooking and he did such a fantastic job. Likewise with the servers, it was usually the same lady up front that was very welcoming and sweet. This place was always a favorite. All it takes is one bad experience to turn a happy customer into a really upset one that will never come back. I've always enjoyed this spot for their fish and chips. Dined in plenty of times, ordered take-out. Even waited 45 mins when told it was only going to take 10-15. But I didn't complain because the quality is great. Still is. I've eaten here before with my toddler and it was pretty rough. We order than wait for the food. Our child is hungry. Then of course the food comes and it's so hot because it's fresh out the fryer which is not a bad thing. But now our toddler is even more upset because the food is right in front of her and she can't have it yet because it's scorching hot. Again which isn't a bad thing for us. I'd rather have my food hot and fresh than soggy and cold. So today we decided to call in our order since we always order the same thing and we knew what we wanted. And told them we wanted to place our order ahead of time so that it's ready when we got there. Whoever took our order over the phone pretty much laughed at us. So we explained that we have a toddler and she's hungry. Ok. We arrive and they all seemed to know it was us who called it in and said we wanted to eat there. Whatever. We sit in the back because we know how toddlers are and she can get pretty loud. And we wanted to be courteous to the folks dining in the front. Plenty of tables available and it was just 5:45 pm. As we were served right away and beverages were provided we just started to enjoy our dinner. Up until one of the employees come to the back and begins to fix the tables... she approaches us and tells us because it's a Friday night they usually don't let anyone calll ahead to place and order and come in and enjoy it there. So today was the only exception. My thought is okay, that couldn't wait? Only 3 minutes into getting settled in and as we're taking our first bites of our food, she interrupts us for that? And then goes on to explain that this is the only time they'll let us do that and that they don't let anyone do that, and thank you for understanding. We acknowledge her because we're eating our food and feeding our child. And pretty much repeats herself again letting us know that's the only time they'll let us call ahead and eat it there. After that we told ourselves to never go there again. We were just discussing how cool is that of them to accommodate us with our request. Had she had waited for us to actually enjoy our meal, we wouldn't have mind. If it wasn't cool with you, you should've said no over the phone. They probably didn't want to lose a customer for one night, little did they know they just lost a customer for good. We paid the bill and left a tip because our server was so polite and still checked up in us. It was just that one person who didn't let a family eat in peace. I'll be happy to drive down to Petaluma and enjoy fish and chips from Fourth and Sea. They don't need to make their batter so thick and actually let the fish be the star of the restaurant. read more

I was so super bummed when I got home- looking forward to that super thick and tasty chowder on a cold rainy day- instead what I got was watery flavorless "soup" It was freshly made with freshly cut taters and what not, but it was so watery and flavorless. This place, Cape Cod, has the best Fish & Chips in our area. I don't know how they do it, but it is consistently great quality and delicious. They have Clam Chowder that should win awards. It's CLAM Chowder, as it should be (not potato Chowder!). They have just added Hush Puppies to their menu, and I have not seen hush puppies at any other restaurant in the North Bay. Holy moly I've never had Fish and Chips as crisp, fresh, and delicious as the ones I had here. Each piece of fish is ginormous, roughly seven inches a piece so be wary of how many pieces you order because it won't taste as good if you save it for the next day! The fried cod is crispy and crunchy on the outside and oh so moist on the inside (all without oozing a pool of grease into your mouth). The fries are thick, potato wedges that are perfectly crisped on the edges and soft and tender on the inside (adding garlic is a delicious touch for my garlic lovers). This restaurant is located in a nice, spacious plaza so parking is bountiful. The place has both small and large tables to accommodate groups as well as bar-top seating near the kitchen. I came here during lunch hours on a weekend and it was not that busy so we got our orders relatively quick. I definitely recommend this place for anyone's fried food fix. read more

Great place for fish and chips. If you don't see any seats in the front, try walking around to the back, there's a larger dining area back there. Everything was very fresh. No fishy taste from the fish and it was fried incredibly crispy. The "chips" are more like potato wedges. I would have preferred actual fries, though. The coleslaw was also very fresh, almost like it had just been made. Bread bowl was fresh, bread very crispy. Ketchup, salt, pepper, and malt vinegar are available at each table and you get a lemon wedge with your fish. This location is nicely decorated and it looks newly remodeled. Tldr: the food will make you sick, the cashier charged me double the amount of my food and refused me a receipt despite me being a repeat customer, on top of being a shady and overwhelmingly unwelcome shop. Im real sick of their shit. My family likes fish and chips and this is the only fish and chips place within reasonable driving distance, so I've been here about 10-20 times over the past few years despite their terrible location and shady surroundings, but today will absolutely be my final trip. I have gotten sick at least two times out of the times I have been here, so i convinced my family to take a break for the last 6 months. I know they have been putting up help wanted signs, so I agreed to give them another shot tonight to see if perhaps they brought cleanliness/ food qaulity up a bit enough to return. I ordered for pick up for only one and was not given a price until i showed up, which was double the price it should've been. I was only given the order tab (no prices listed) instead of a real receipt when I asked for one. I would've refused to pay if I hadn't been by myself or had ordered more food. But I played dumb, laughed, and paid them their fuckin' ten extra dollars straight into their slimely little hands with a big smile, you know why? Fish had wonderful crunchy batter with silid flaky cod. Fries were nice and crispy with a strong garlic flavor and the onion rings were flavorful and had a solid crunch. My wife and I shared a 3 piece with garlic fries and a side of onion rings. So much food we could have fed a third person. Tarter sauce was awesome with a sweet kick. We will definitely be back for more. Some reviews said to go was soggy. Alright mother truckers, listen up. Are you located in the North San Francisco Bay Area? Are you looking for a killer fish and chips meal? Then stop, stop whatever you are doing and come here. Portions are great, prices are decent, and it's better than any fish and chips you'll get anywhere. The service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is generally quiet, unless it's busy, with some tasteful decor and the seating is decently comfortable. There's a big booth in back for larger groups but for God's sake, CALL AHEAD if you're going to have a group larger than 4. Don't show up during prime time expecting to get a table to seat your damn church party of 12. You wouldn't go to a movie theater with an army of 300 Spartans and try to all get seats in the same theater, would you? They've got two TVs which are usually switched to whatever sports game is on, which is great. Speaking of fish, I unfortunately can't speak for much more than their fish, cole slaw fries(with and without garlic), chicken, chili dog, and their pulled pork sandwich. All of which are fantastic. However, I've heard nothing but good things about the rest of their menu. Their beer that's on tap is always $3 a pint! They're also serving breakfast now. Their eggs benedict and country-style potatoes are fantastic and their mimosas are made with fresh squeezed orange juice. Their kids menu is small but what's to really expect from a fish and chips joint. You want a cheese pizza or something? For all of you saying that the fish doesn't have any taste, have you every ACTUALLY had cod before? If it had any stronger of a fishy taste then you'd be bitching about it and end up going to Betty's and spending twice as much. Speaking of Betty's, the only way they've got Cape Cod beat is with their dessert menu. Cape Cod unfortunately doesn't have a dessert menu but it would be an absolute hit if they did! *Hint Hint* *Nudge Nudge* As all fried foods go, if you take it to go, it will probably get soggy if you don't eat in within the first 5 seconds. After reading the Yelp reviews this evening, I got myself psyched for fish and chips and went to Cape Cod in Cotati. After seating myself at a table just opposite of the soda fountain against the wall, I sat, and sat and sat waiting for a menu and for someone to ask for my drink order. It was becoming apparent to me that I might be in a clothing store instead as I watched some 19-20'ish guy trying to get into the pants of one of the (obviously new) employees. During the 10 plus minutes of watching this and waiting for a menu, the girl did manage to take the order of the party who walked in at the same time as me (they actually got menus when they walked in). Typically, I'd be very understanding if the place is busy but this is a Tuesday night and there were exactly 7 customers at two tables and the counter in the entire place! Finally after the guy left making his attempt to score later tonight, the girl working there finally noticed that I was sitting there with no menu and no silverware even though she had been to the soda fountain less than 36 inches away from me twice before. It was fully another 10 minutes and after the party who arrived at the same time as me was served their food that I was asked if I would like to place an order. Rather than make a scene or make her feel badly, I simply told her not yet and left. While I'm certain that the food here is very good, I'll never know. The service was great and the food was even better. Food portions were impressive, too. Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. The garlic chips were to die for.
