I've used 3 different pool experts over thee years and Larry and company are by far the best. Pool is maintained perfectly, and when I needed a new pool sweep Larry recommended a source that would save me the most $'s. Sorry to see the bad review below. Not my experience at all. read more

I contacted CalTech to service my pool and informed Larry about the issues with my previous service, which caused my pool to turn green. Larry assured me this wouldn't happen with CalTech. When the technician arrived, I explained the problems and mentioned that the filters needed cleaning. The technician said the pressure wasn't too high and would clean the filters once it increased. However, my pool turned green again, and CalTech only added chlorine tablets without discussing the issue with me. I terminated their service. This weekend, I found the filters packed with green sludge. I replaced the filters, shocked the pool myself, and now it's clear. I like to support local businesses and I wish them the best, however I cannot recommend their service. read more

Great work, attitude and extremely friendly people. The owner is pretty awesome. I had upgraded from a gas heater for our pool to an electric heater and it works perfectly. Mark the owners son came over and actually fixed my pool with another issue and didn't charge us. Great work guys! read more

CalTech is a Ripoff and Larry is Dishonest! Be cautious. My pool system was leaking air and the pump unable to prime. I contacted many pool service companies but most were booked up for weeks except CalTech who was able to come next day. Should have known that was a red flag. Larry came and said a suction valve was leaking air. He replaced the valve's inner part charging me $300 but it didn't work. Then he said an o-ring and a couple of PVC connections was leaking air quoting me another $992. To my surprise, he said the initial suction valve was actually not needed and he would cut it out completely but still charge $300. I had a feeling he was over charging me and hesitant to hire him but I needed it fix soon as the pool was turning green fast and had plans for July 4th bbq. Larry persuaded me saying, "if you still want us to do the repair and we will turn the pool from green to clean as well" so I decided to just hire him. His tech fixed the problem and the pump is running but the pool continues to be green and cloudy 3 days later. I contacted Larry multiple times but he refuse to honor his words and want to charge an additional $350+ to get the pool from green to clean. Unfortunately, I over paid Larry $1292 before the job is complete trusting that he's an honest person. Afterwards, I spoke to 3 pool service companies about his service done. They all said the cost to find leak, replacing that section of PVCs, an O-ring, even with rebuild of an unnecessary valve, is about $500. Lesson learned on my part but I believe in Karma. read more

Talked to Larry on the phone about repairing my pool filter. He seemed argumentative, however, he asked me to email him pictures of my pool equipment which I did. I then texted him that I sent the pictures he requested. Never received the courtesy of a response. read more

The pool guy who followed had the whole thing fixed and running (including installing a new heater) in a couple of hours. Before you came everything worked, when you left it did not. read more

Larry is the best. He has been so reliable, and easy to communicate with. We are lucky to have him service our pool. He is also a nearby neighbor, and services many in our area. If something is wrong, he is very straight forward and works tirelessly to solve the problem. Highly, highly recommend to ALL! read more

Pool filter quit on us... Larry and crew came out promptly and fixed it ... Price was reasonable , definitely recommend

They're a rip off. He quoted me $400 to install a pump that the pump guy installed for $80. They charge $85/hour to send some kid out to scoop leaves from the pool. That's how much an electrician charges. I said I can have my landscaper do it so he complained we don't appreciate them enough. During the winter months when we don't use the pool we drop down to chemical only service ($85/month), complains about that too, wanted me to pay almost $200 a month for full service or he will sit there and complain complain complain. Horrible. read more

I called Larry and within 24 hours he came to diagnose my pump issues and solved the problem. He gave me great advice and I won't hesitate to contact him in the future with any issues. read more

Larry and team literally saved our pool and spa from a previous service team. Our water is now crystal blue, all our pumps and filters work, and they're knowledgeable in all things "pool". We were new to the area and kept the same pool team as the previous owner and it wasn't reliable; Larry is responsive, kind, honest, and charges a good price for the work they put into their clients pools. CalTech Pools has been amazing since we asked them to take on our pool and we are so glad they did! read more

My pool was a nightmare. I received advertisement on Cal Tech Pools and decided to give them a call. I talked to Larry and he sent a technician out to my house. Mike (the tech) quoted me a reasonable price. One week later and my pool is sparkling crystal clear. Mike got all my equipment working and my pool ready for the spring and summer. I was hesitant on getting the monthly service but after reading the reviews, I'm going for it. Larry's prices are fair and the results speak for themselves. I highly recommend CalTech Pools to anyone needing pool service. Joe read more

Just had a visit from Larry and his wife. Called them yesterday, explained my pump and filtration system stopped working and he scheduled today at 10:30am. On time, knowledgeable, cleaned out the clogged components, now ordering some spare parts and returning in a few days. Love that next day service! Very happy customer. read more

I have used Cal Tech for years on my pool and spa and have nothing more than thumbs up to offer for this great service. Larry(owner) has been amazing, with repairs on both spa and pool pump, done write the first time due to his knowledge of pools equipment and his desire to provide a great service at a fair price every time. Thanks Larry read more

I noticed that someone has posted a poor review for CalTech Pools. Please ignore it. I have been using Caltech for years and have nothing but positive things to say about them. Far from being the "rip off" that was claimed, CalTech has consistently provided me with excellent service. They have always charged me a fair and reasonable price for the work they have done. They have consistently been willing to go the extra mile.... I've recommended CalTech to others and will continue to do so. If the reviewer had a problem, he might want to consult a mirror for the cause. read more

Larry repaired our solar tubes this year. Each year we get cracks over the winter that need to be repaired. We've used a different company in the past and Larry beat their prices by a mile! The service was prompt and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to refer Cal Tech to anyone! read more

Caltech Pools and its owner are ethical and hard working. Within a week of switching to their pool cleaning company, the difference is noticeable. In terms of honesty, they do solar, but due to the configuration of our roof, they recommended me to contact other companies and even have reviewed their proposals free of charge. Could not ask for a better company to handle pool services. Thank you Larry. read more

Poor pool tech service .... Even worse customer service ! We have had service from Caltech for 2 years now.... No more! Last summer our pool started turning green. For three weeks the pool people from Caltech tried to get it back to clear. It seemed every time they tried something it got worse. Through a suggestion of a friend I took a sample of the water to a pool shop for a Chemical analysis. They laughed at how far off are pool water was. I gave the results to Larry at Caltech and gave him the suggestion of the pool chemist. Within days the pool is clear again. Should've dropped Caltech right there. throughout this winter pool remain fairly clear, but it seems no one was singing the basket on a weekly basis or doing anything. This summer the pool turn green again, I had to call Larry and tell him it had been green for two weeks ( something his technicians should've known if they had been here ). He immediately got accusatory, and asked me what I had changed. I finally had to remind him of the same problem we had last summer. His response was "Oh no ! I'm not taking the blame for this." Needless to say, we terminated our contract with them. read more

Can't say enough about Larry and Cal Tech Pools. We recently moved to Granite Bay and needed help replacing some old pool equipment. We read the Yelp reviews about Cal Tech Pools and decided to give him a call. Larry responded to our call within an hour and was at our house the next day. Long story short, our pool is now equipped with an extremely efficient pool filter and Larry made some other minor changes above and beyond the pool filter to assist us in getting our pool looking good. Larry even filled out the PG&E rebate paperwork associated with the new filter. Today, Larry and his team make weekly visits to the pool to make sure everything is running properly, all the pool chemicals are properly balanced and the pool looks beautiful for my family and friends. Larry is honest, straight-talking and extremely knowledgeable about pools. If you use him for your pool needs, you will not be disappointed. read more
