Everything about the this place is incredible! The food was delish, and so unique to experience the flavors of multiple places in one meal. Service was wonderful and atmosphere was nice but not stuffy at all. I really enjoyed my experience here! Let's start with parking: found parking right out front (free after 6pm). We didn't have reservations, but when we arrived at 5:45pm, there was plenty of seating (started to fill up as got closer to 7pm). They had happy hour with drinks ranging from $9-11. I got the pharaoh's tea and it was good and refreshed. The right amount of booze and right amount of refreshing and flavorful. My homegirls got the Aperol spritz and the hanging gardens and enjoyed them. Food: we got the falafel, blistered tomato hummus, batata harra, gulf shrimp and chickpea pilaf. Finally some great food in Chatt! I had been in town for almost 3 days and wasn't wowed by most of the other places then i convinced my friends to eat dinner here after some rock climbing and we all loved it. It's on an artsy street with an energetic vibe and the place is decorated so nicely. We called in advance and they had a table waiting for us, our server was nice and knew the menu very well. I love that it was sharing-style, as we all ordered a bunch of plates and got to try it all. For starters, we had the chicken, Shawarma hummus, whipped feta, and falafel. They came with fluffy, fresh baked pita, hot and delicious, although I wish there was more for the amount of dip - just 1 pita per dip. But they were delicious, so authentic. And Those 3 little falafels went fast at our table haha. The branzino was delicious, the sauce was creamy and unique, full of flavor and they prepared it well for you by removing the main spines. The lamb kibbeh was also incredible, super savory, but my favorite of the dishes was the sautéed shrimp. Just amazing. Can't wait to come back to Chattanooga and eat here again! read more

If you don't like spice then I don't recommend this unless the other person you're with does. I thought it had enough variety that you won't be left hungry. We came and celebrated our 8 year anniversary on a Sunday, and it was half price bottle night. What a nice surprise! The atmosphere is Incredible - beautiful bar, plants, natural wood. The service was great, and both Armen* and Calvin* (so sorry if I've mistaken the names) were wonderful hosts. The wine list is pretty eclectic, and we selected a Chenin blanc. We were brought a Grenache blanc from the same winery, and we decided to drink it anyway. It was yummy too! The food here is beautiful! I will say that I wasn't the most impressed, but it was good. We did not care for the mushrooms which were recommended, but we nearly cleared every other plate! Definitely get the mujadara and chicken small plate! Came here with my colleague Deltone. He spoke highly of the chef, Somalia, and food. I was visiting for work from Orlando and he insisted we go here for dinner one of our nights. It did not disappoint! We ordered one of everything. The server was a nice red headed guy who gave us detailed insight into each plate and what paired well with it. The mushrooms was from a local farm and were to die for. I don't even normally like mushrooms! The vibe is very modern with Edison lights and sleek furniture keeping with the design. We ate upstairs ate had a nice view of the city outside. They also have an outdoor area but we stuck with inside since it was a bit cold. I will be back when I come to Chattanooga again. read more

We made a reservation at Calliope for our weekend in Chattanooga, and this will not be our last visit! Everything about this restaurant is incredible - the food is unique and delicious, the vibes are great, and the service is incredible! We had Evan helping us, and he was so kind and thorough when explaining the menu. This place was a walking distance from my hostel, and the patio area is pet friendly if you travel with your fur baby as I did. I don't know how it looks indoors as I stayed in the patio area with my dog. The service was fast, and my server was friendly during my stay. The patio area was decorated with overhead lights that made it so cozy and inviting--it made me feel so relaxed during my dinner. I ordered charcoal-roasted chicken, braised okra, and one oasis (a cocktail drink). I loved my dinner and my cocktail drink as well. The braised okra was well-seasoned, and the roasted chicken was tender--so, so delicious. I recommend this place. It's a date spot, too. read more

We had a group of 8 meet up for dinner at Calliope on 9/20 for dinner ahead of a weekend wedding. None of us had been there before so we weren't sure what to expect but we all said it was one of the best meals we've ever had in our life! We ordered everything but 4 items on the menu, including 4 different desserts! Each plate/entree was delicious! Was it pricey? Yes, but so worth it! We came from ATL and would literally drive the 2 hours to dine there again. We talked about this dinner for days afterward. We were very excited based on the menu and reviews, we went with the Sofra allowing chef to pick the courses. It was fantastic, my wife is typically not a hummus fan but she thought it was great, all the dips with the fresh pita were tasty. Had the lamb shank for the main entree with couscous and a yogurt sauce on the side, was amazing, the flavors and spices with the added texture of nuts was really an experience. Lamb needed no knife, fall off the bone and tender. Drinks were fantastic and dessert was wonderful, was a ricotta base and super delicious. Service was excellent and a wonderful atmosphere, I would have felt comfortable in dress clothes but just as comfortable in casual dress. Wonderful middle eastern restaurant. It's like my mouth took a vacation. We started off with the falafels. They were my favorite-mango sauce with a spicy onion jam. We shared the shrimp and beet salad. The shrimp were in a sauce that we then asked for bread to soak it up. Then we shared the lamb (enough for 4 people). Great wine list too. I love this place! The interior is beautiful and I'd love to come back on a beautiful day to sit on the patio. Got there just in time for happy hour so had a few drinks. Started with the tomato hummus which was creamy and delicious. I was slightly disappointed the menu did not match the menu posted on the website though as I was looking forward to a few items that had changed. Then we had a shrimp dish, flavorful and good. For my main entree I had the charcoal roasted chicken which had the perfect amount of sear and seasoning. My husband had the brisket which had a sweet fruit sauce on top and loved it. We were really excited to try Calliope as we are fans of Flora de Mel. But, our dinner was a disappointment. We know prices are climbing but their pricing is really off. For example $13 for a small scoop of feta and three pita halves and $13 for the (chicken) Shish Tawook? Also, the menu touts crispy potatoes that are no where near crispy. If the description was "baked then tossed in sauce" it would be accurate. SideTracks does crispy potatoes that are amazing! They taste good but they are not as described. Over $100 for a two drinks and four small plates is a little out of whack even at today's prices. We are not opposed to spending money on meals but Calliope disappointed and left us hungry. The service was good and the food tasted great but sadly, I don't see us returning just for the falafel. read more

We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and drink selections. At the table, we ordered the blistered tomatoes & pickled peppers hummus which was super tasty, falafel, chickpea pilaf, gulf shrimp, and the crispy potatoes. Everything was shareable and I very much enjoyed the flavors in these dishes. Wow! Hard to put into words this experience. The service was polished and pace of services rapid. They had my first plate out before I even got my wine. (This was my only complaint) My first plate was the gulf shrimp. I have never had so much flavor in one bite. The second dish I ordered was the mussels. Again, an explosion of flavors. I'm sorry that I wasn't more hungry as I would have loved to explore the menu more. The chef has done an amazing job pairing flavors and textures. The Cabernet I ordered wasn't your typical tannin or fruit forward wine, it was soft and complimented the powerful flavors in my dished. A wonderful pairing. Everything was fresh and delicious. They were making the bread right beside the table! We had whipped feta, hummus, branzino, roasted chicken, carrots, green beans, and more. We dined here post-Valentine's Day to avoid the crowds. Bon had heard great things about them and Lawk's a-mighty we could use more good Middle-Eastern dining restaurants in Chattanooga. And Calliope blows all the competition away. Two of the dishes we had completely eclipsed all other versions of those we've ever had and have raised the bar so high that hereafter I am certain that we're bound for disappointment forevermore at other places. Those dishes were the Hummus and the Milk Cake. Of special note was the fruit relish on the bronzino (an explosion of mouth-joy). If the chefs at Calliope jar that and sell it in-house, we'll be avid purchasers! If you've seen the second half of The Bear's second season, you'll have seen a cinematic portrayal of service at high-end dining. The service at Calliope reminded me of that - marvelously so. read more

When we walked in with our reservations they were super helpful and tried to seat us somewhere accommodating downstairs since I don't like stairs. However it was right in front of the kitchen so really annoying. Also a big Edison bulb was shining in my eyes all night. Not fun. Chairs were super un comfy with no padding. I had to sit o. My bfs jacket it was that bad. Food was good. We had a few pita dippers and some hummus and a crispy Brussels. All delish. The drinks we had were in my opinion overpriced and not that tasty and would not order again. The rose cocktail didn't taste of rose and the rum drink was just ok.
