Reminds me of a grandmas cottage from the Little Red Riding Hood - very homey. There are plenty of seating indoors and out. It's a small parking lot. They have a lot of bakery items. I believe we ordered the cinnamon roll and the sticky toffee English pecan (can't think of the name for this). Now both were really good but they were very sweet for me. We couldn't finish it between 2 people - probably should've just ordered 1 to share. It's very good but not for me. I would like it without the frosting and the cream.

I read through a couple reviews and was almost immediately sold - the hype was great and they weren't too far from me to stop in before making my drive. Crestone is nestled in a pretty large strip mall area, and is right next door to another baked good shop. There is plenty of parking, so finding a spot was very easy. Right when I walked in, I was surprised by the sheer quantity of items in the storefront; there are several refrigerated cabinets, glass cases, shelves, and tables with various items on display. You can kind of see into the back when you walk in, and there are a number of people bustling about. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the folks in the front I assume were the owners. The wife (I think) offered to answer any questions I had, and was very obviously knowledgeable about all the items and nuances with the various recipes. I explained I was there for a friend and that she has had a tough time finding gluten free items that both lasted and tasted good. I was guided around the whole storefront and given several recommendations for items that would be good to try and also hold up for the few hours of driving I had in front of me. After perusing for some time, I got several items: a loaf of sandwich bread, sugar cookies with buttercream frosting, apple fritters, and a soft pretzel. I don't usually shop for gluten free items, but the variety of product at this place is super impressive. I don't see quite the level of diverse products really anywhere I've ever been before, to be honest. This rivals the chain store bakeries in terms of the different types of goodies, in my opinion. All items held up super well during the drive, and the couple of cookies I saved for myself the next day were just as delicious as I expected. My favorite of the bunch had to be the fritter... I LOVE apple fritters normally but I have to say these were probably better than any I've had before, gluten free or not. My friend absolutely loved everything and said that it was by far the best gluten free option she has had to date. That being said, I will definitely be back. Word of caution....DO NOT USE Cakes by Karen (CBK)! What an utter disappointment. I ordered a Louis Vuitton purse cake. The only reason I went to them is because I was trying to duplicate a cake for a friend that was originally done by CBK. I should have turned and ran when I went in to order the cake...they were not helpful at all. Regardless, I ordered the cake, which ended up costing $100. Had I received a quality cake for that price, then no problem. I was very happy when I picked up the cake....it looked GREAT! I took it home and not even one hour later the cake had completely collapsed and then continued to worsen as it sat. I called and was told if I brought it in that they would fix it. Once there, I was given a guilt trip as to why their cake had fallen apart. They said they could re-do it but that it would not be standing up. I was in a bind, so agreed. Went back to pick it up and it didn't look anywhere similar to the same cake, the frosting wasn't even the same color as the original cake. I let them know that I was very disappointed and asked them, "If I had ordered this cake, would I have paid $100 for it?" I was told no, and that unfortunately the 3D cakes just don't hold up very well. (Question: Why are they selling those cakes then?) I asked for a discount and was told I could get a store credit. I told them that wouldn't work because I wouldn't be returning. They insisted that the only refunds they give are in the form of a store credit. Then they proceeded to imply that I had done something to the cake and that's why it fell apart. Unbelievable. WHY would I do something to a cake when it was for a party the same night...it was a VERY specific cake and I was left with no choice to take it to the party and have to explain why it was so awful. At least I had a picture to show the birthday girl what the cake was SUPPOSED to look like. VERY, VERY disappointed. And to top it off...the cake tasted awful. Nobody at the party even finished one slice of it. In addition to the whole cake fiasco, the store seems very cluttered and dirty. Not sure they've updated, organized or thrown anything away since they've been open. All of the photo books to show pictures of cakes were torn and bent. It just seemed dirty. I didn't want a fight with them...I merely wanted the cake that I ordered. I ordered a 3D cake and ended up leaving with a sheet cake that I could have made with a Betty Crocker cake mix and some canned frosting...seriously. read more

This company is terrible. I ordered a champagne cake with fresh strawberries torte style. I spent $470.00 on a 3 tier "GRADUATION"cake. That was supposed to have a torte style with cream cheese, fresh strawberries, cream cheese all across the board. It did not. I paid a lot of money. Extra money is what they charged me for the fresh strawberry layers. I was happy to pay for it. Not to mention I took time out of my day to goto their property and taste the moch cake. The made for me. They got it perfect. But I don't know what happened. In the process. What really irks me is I did pay for it. I was happy to pay for it. What is the stinger is I paid for it and I did not get it. They made the cake torte style with cream cheese on two of the cakes one on the top and the lower cake. One middle layer was correctly made. Which was supposed to be cream cheese, fresh strawberries, cream cheese. The entire cake was supposed to be this way. So I let them know this. They gave me a credit of: $40.00 for my next cake. Wow right, What a deep pocket they have. (That is the amount I paid for the "fresh strawberry Layers".) Being that almost the whole cake was not eaten. So I essentially wasted $470.00. The next cake was a birthday cake...I know a lot of cakes right. But the same thing happened. They did not make the cake correctly again. How hard is it to make a cake like you ordered it and paid for. It is not rocket science. Really it is not. Then Karen actually has the nerve to tell me I was supposed to sign off on this etc. I did not sign off on anything. I took time out of my day to go down there to make sure they made it correctly. I went down there to do this... It did not turn out like it should have. I am going to attribute this to poor communication on their end. Being that I have only been having them make my cakes for approximately the last 15 yrs. That is a long time. Now this year I have just thrown my hands up. I was happy to pay for the cake to get the cake I wanted and two times in a row. They fouled it up twice. I am not happy. I paid quite a bit of money for this cake. As well as the second one. This was not a wedding cake but a graduation cake. So it was important at that same rate. I am not sure what is going on here Very rude. I would not recommend. read more

I was throwing a surprise party for my boyfriend's 24th birthday and I found this place. I called and ordered a chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese icing and the whole while, Karen (who I spoke with directly), was VERY helpful and responsive. I wasn't really sure what size of cake I wanted to get and she helped me with that and also gave a few suggestions! Later, I called back and since my boyfriend is a mechanic, I asked if she could put on some tools and maybe a car. When I picked it up, I was so pleasantly surprised!! She had put a blue Mustang as the center focal point of the cake with a few tools scattered around! Everybody at the party loved the cake, it was yummy and I would definitely suggest my combination for chocolate lovers! I also said that yes she could have "creative freedom" when asked only to be extremely disappointed. Text Screenshot attached. Furthermore on our wedding day I texted Jen when I saw the cake and she responded saying I "received a cake you were charged for". Whereas nowhere in our contract or conversations was it brought up that icing color or decorating was a different cost and on our contract it simply stated "2 tier cake". I would have paid more had I known this or was communicated. Also on our wedding day texts Jen made it clear that my over $1,100 order was insignificant as she was dealing with another wedding that was having issues. Our wedding was having issues as well and then this cake and communication certainly didn't help. As you can see from my Yelp profile, I am a huge advocate for small businesses and it is disheartening when a small business acts so corporate in their handling of an issue. I paid Jen (owner) in full more than 6 months before our wedding as covid was hitting small businesses hard and to be let down by the end result is just unfortunate. I heard the cookie sandwiches were good. All cupcakes were missing meringues as discussed I would not recommend Ruby Jean.
